After the emotional breakthrough from earlier that day, the Pines family spent some quiet time together in the living room. Dipper and Mabel played a board game, Stan watched a drama show on the TV while sipping his beer, and Ford sat on the couch next to Evalin, reading a book. The experience felt strange to Evalin. She wasn't quite used to such a dynamic.

Before long, and without knowing how the topic came up, Ford and Stan began one of their usual, good-natured bickering sessions about who had been the better pool player back in the day.

An hour or so later, Mabel stretched with a yawn, her eyes suddenly lighting up with excitement. "Hey! I just had the best idea! Since it's such a nice day out, let's go to the pool! We could all use some sunshine and splashing around!"

Dipper perked up from across the room. "The pool sounds awesome," he said, glancing over at Evalin with an encouraging smile. "You in, Evi?"

"Swimming?" she exclaimed, barely able to contain her excitement. "I love swimming! It's my favorite thing ever!"

Mabel's eyes widened, thrilled by Evalin's enthusiasm. "Yes! See, I knew you'd be into it!" she cheered, giving Evalin a high-five. "We'll make this the best pool day ever!"

Stan chuckled as he watched Evalin's excitement. "Well, look at that! Didn't know we had a regular mermaid in the family," he teased, earning a smile from Evalin.

Ford, too, couldn't help but smile, a glint of amusement in his eyes. "Guess it's settled, then. Let's hit the pool."

They quickly gathered supplies and piled into the car. During the drive, Evalin could hardly sit still, eagerly chatting with Mabel about pool games and diving techniques. Her excitement was infectious.

When they arrived, the boys headed to the men's changing room to change into their swimsuits, while the girls went to the women's. Naturally, the men came out first. Emerging from the changing room, each of them looked perfectly in character with their swimwear choices.

Dipper had a classic look, wearing simple dark blue trunks with a subtle pine tree pattern down the sides. True to form, he had gone a little overboard with sunscreen, coating his nose and shoulders in thick, almost comical layers of white. He shuffled in his sandals, glancing around as if half-expecting a poolside mystery to appear.

Stan, on the other hand, was practically strutting. Thrilled to be in his youthful body again, he wore bright red swim trunks with a retro, shorter cut that accentuated his confidence. A pair of flashy sunglasses perched on his nose completed the look, and he began striking exaggerated poses, flexing his arms and grinning as though posing for a magazine cover.

Then there was Ford, looking effortlessly cool yet understated. He wore deep green swim trunks with a subtle geometric pattern, a small detail he alone likely appreciated. He also wore a tight swim shirt that covered all the way up his neck with a lightweight linen shirt over it, unbuttoned for comfort. He looked both relaxed and refined.

As they headed to the pool area, they exchanged amused glances at each other's attire. Dipper rolled his eyes at Stan's posing, while Stan clapped a hand on Ford's shoulder, chuckling. "Nice threads, Sixer. But if you're hoping to keep up with me, you better be ready to dive in head-first."

Ford gave a small smile, shaking his head. "Just try not to pull a muscle, Stanley."

With that, the boys jumped into the pool. Ford and Stan began racing each other across the water, while Dipper waited for his sister to join them.

Mabel then stepped out of the changing room in a bright, cheerful one-piece swimsuit that matched her vibrant personality. It was a deep purple with a sprinkle of rainbow-colored stars scattered across it, giving it that extra "Mabel flair" without being too flashy. She had added her own twist with a cute, matching headband and a pair of heart-shaped sunglasses perched on her head, ready for action.

When Evalin stepped out of the changing room next, she had no idea how striking she looked. Her black one-piece swimsuit fit her perfectly, hugging her curves. The gothic butterfly design across the chest gave off an air of dark elegance, while the thin straps and lacing details added a hint of edginess. The high-cut bottom and sheer chiffon overskirt created a dramatic, almost ethereal effect as her hat topped off the look. She tugged at the removable overskirt and adjusted it without a second thought, completely unaware of the attention she was drawing.

Dipper and Mabel, caught up in their excitement, didn't seem to notice the transformation. Mabel bounced with energy, asking Evalin how she was feeling, and Dipper was too busy swimming to pay much attention.

As Evalin adjusted her overskirt, still oblivious, Ford and Stan shared a glance.

Stan, never one to hide his thoughts, lowered his sunglasses slightly and gave Evalin an appreciative once-over. He smirked, leaning toward Ford. "Well, well. Guess she didn't waste any time getting our attention," he said with a knowing grin. "Pretty lady's got a certain… flair about her."

Ford, slightly flustered cleared his throat. "Stan, please, not now," he muttered, though his voice betrayed his own surprise. "She… yes, she certainly looks stunning. I didn't expect… well, this."

Stan chuckled, crossing his arms. "For someone who doesn't seem to care much about her appearance, she sure knows how to make an impression," he remarked, his tone softening. "She's got a kind of... dark beauty, huh? Definitely not something you see every day."

Ford shifted uneasily, his gaze lingering on Evalin a moment too long. "Yes... captivating," he said quietly, his voice softer than usual. "It's not just the appearance. She's... different. I've noticed that."

Stan raised an eyebrow, his grin widening as he patted Ford on the back. "Uh-huh. I can see that, Sixer. Well, don't just stand there! Tell her she looks great. You don't get a moment like this every day."

Ford sighed, trying to regain composure. "Fine, fine... I'll go talk to her." Straightening his posture, he focused himself, while Stan continued watching Evalin with an amused look.

Stan, enjoying the scene, called out to Evalin with a playful grin. "Hey, pretty lady," he teased. "Looking good. Don't let it go to your head, but you're definitely turning some heads around here."

Evalin, still fussing with her overskirt and not understanding the effect she had, blushed deeply. "Uh, thanks, you guys... It's just a swimsuit, really," she said, tugging awkwardly at the fabric.

Stan laughed, clearly enjoying her discomfort. "Oh, it's more than just a swimsuit, sweetheart."

Ford, still watching from the pool, finally spoke, his tone sincere. "Yes, Evalin... you look remarkable."

Evalin laughed nervously, her cheeks burning. "I didn't think it'd stand out this much. I just thought it was cute."

As soon as Evalin removed the chiffon overskirt and her hat before setting them neatly beside the towels, she slipped effortlessly into the pool, her long red hair trailing behind her like a mermaid's tail. Dipper and Mabel were already in the shallow end, splashing each other and laughing, but when they saw Evalin glide through the water with such grace, their mouths fell open in awe.

"Dipper, look at her go!" Mabel exclaimed, her eyes wide as Evalin swam like she had been in the water her whole life, quick, fluid, and graceful, as though the water was her natural element. She made it look easy as she swam laps across the pool, her body slicing through the water with a speed and elegance that left her companions in awe.

Mabel gawked at her. "Whoa, she's like a swimming mermaid! Evi, you're amazing!"

Evalin, hearing Mabel's excited voice, grinned as she floated on her back, taking a deep breath before diving under the water again. She swam a few feet before surfacing, laughing at the sight of Dipper and Mabel trying to catch their breath.

"You guys ready for a game of Marco Polo?" Evalin asked, her voice coming out breathless but filled with excitement.

Dipper nodded. "I'm game! But I'm warning you, I'm not gonna let you win."

Mabel, grinning from ear to ear, splashed water toward Dipper. "I think we've got this one, Dipper!" She turned to Evalin, "Ready, Evi?"

"Born ready!" Evalin replied, her smile playful as she closed her eyes to prepare. "Marco!"

"Polo!" Mabel and Dipper responded in unison, immediately beginning to swim away from Evalin, who stayed still for a moment, relying on her senses to detect their movements in the water.

Evalin dove under the surface, her body moving swiftly and silently as she tried to catch the kids. She loved the feeling of being submerged, the weightlessness of it, and the way her body seemed to flow with the water. She barely made a splash as she swam beneath them.

"Polo!" Mabel shouted, her voice full of excitement as she splashed, trying to evade Evalin's reach.

Evalin emerged from the water and swam toward Mabel, her eyes twinkling with determination. "I'm gonna get you, Mabel!"

"No way! You can't catch me!" Mabel laughed, trying to swim away, but Evalin was already faster, her long, flowing hair trailing behind her like a beacon. The game was on.

After a few rounds of Marco Polo, Evalin had effortlessly outswum both Dipper and Mabel, her grace and speed making the game look almost too easy. Mabel, on the other hand, was struggling to keep up. She swam desperately, trying to avoid getting tagged, but it was clear Evalin was on a whole other level.

Mabel gasped for air and popped her head above the water, her arms tired from trying to match Evalin's effortless pace. "How... do you stay under for so long?" she asked, eyes wide with curiosity. Her voice was full of wonder, but also tinged with a hint of frustration.

Evalin slowed her pace just enough to let Mabel catch up, a playful smile tugging at her lips. She placed a finger on her nose, and a soft, faint glow began to pulse around it. "It's a little trick I learned," Evalin said, her voice full of mischief. "A water-breathing spell. Helps me stay submerged and gives me a little edge in games like this."

Mabel's jaw dropped. "That's cheating!" she laughed, clearly impressed. "How are you gonna use magic in a friendly game of Marco Polo?"

Evalin gave her a sly grin. "What can I say? I'm resourceful."

Mabel's expression softened, a determined glint in her eyes. "Okay, I want in," she said, a playful challenge in her voice. "Teach me that spell!"

Evalin's smile widened, her gaze flickering with amusement. "Oh, I'm not teaching you." She leaned in slightly, touching the tip of Mabel's nose lightly with her glowing finger. The magic transferred in a soft, warm pulse, and Mabel's face lit up as she felt the spell settle within her.

Mabel blinked in surprise as she felt a rush of air and clarity, like a deep breath she never had to take. "Wait, what?" Mabel asked, looking at Evalin in wide-eyed shock.

"It's your little secret now," Evalin whispered with a wink. "You'll be able to stay underwater just like me. But you've got to promise not to tell anyone. It'll be our thing. Also, it doesn't last forever so keep that in mind."

Mabel's face broke into a grin as she touched her own nose, feeling the faint glow there too. "Deal!" she said excitedly, already eager to try it out. "Thanks, Evi!"

"Just don't go using it to beat me at Marco Polo, alright?" Evalin teased, swimming off with a playful flick of her hair.

Mabel nodded eagerly, diving under the water to test out her new ability. As she disappeared beneath the surface, she couldn't help but smile.

The late afternoon sunlight was warm, and the pool was filled with the sound of splashing water and occasional laughter. After all the excitement of the game, the Pines family enjoyed a little free swimming. Dipper and Mabel swam off to one side of the pool, leaving Evalin with a mischievous grin on her face. She had an idea to make things a little more interesting for herself.

With a subtle gesture of her hand, Evalin cast a quick invisibility spell, her body fading into thin air as she slipped silently beneath the water. No one could see her now; not even Ford, who was swimming in the deeper part of the pool, focused on his form. Evalin swam with graceful strokes, her long red hair trailing behind her like a streak of fire hidden in the water.

Underwater, Evalin admired the rippling muscles of Ford's back and shoulders as he swam. His movements were controlled and powerful, and the way his body moved through the water caught her attention. She couldn't help but appreciate how attractive he looked. She swam closer, still invisible, captivated by the strength and grace he exuded.

Her mind wandered, thoughts drifting toward the more perverse as she continued to silently watch him. The thrill of being invisible, the ability to admire him without being seen, made her feel bold. She couldn't help but indulge herself in the moment, letting her thoughts go places they typically wouldn't.

But just as she was swimming closer, lost in her thoughts, Ford unexpectedly turned. His foot shot out behind him, connecting with her face with a solid thunk.

Evalin gasped, the blow snapping the invisibility spell as she was sent floating to the surface, dazed from the unexpected impact. She surfaced with a splash, instinctively reaching up to touch her nose, feeling the sting.

Ford, who had no idea she'd been there, froze when he saw her bobbing in the water, clearly confused. "Evalin?!" His voice was a mix of surprise and concern. "Are you okay?"

Evalin slowly blinked, rubbing her nose, her expression initially dazed before she gave him a teasing smile. "I'm fine, Stanford. Just… a little kicked in the face, that's all."

Ford's face flushed as he swam toward her, eyes wide with concern. "I'm so sorry, I didn't see you there. I didn't mean to-"

"No harm done," Evalin said, her voice light but with a playful hint. She gave him a small grin, though a part of her was still recovering from the accidental kick. She quickly glanced around, hoping no one noticed how embarrassed she was. "Guess I just got a little too close."

Ford looked genuinely apologetic. "I swear I didn't know you were there. Are you sure you're okay?"

"I'm okay," Evalin repeated, trying to reassure him as she floated in the water, her face still a little flushed. She offered him a teasing wink. "You know, for a guy who looks like he's in control, you sure do kick hard."

Ford chuckled nervously, his face still red. "I really didn't mean to-"

"I know," Evalin said with a smile, cutting him off. "It was an accident. No big deal."

"Alright," Ford said, visibly relieved, but still apologetic. "I'll be more careful next time."

Evalin nodded, still trying to shake off the lingering embarrassment. She wasn't about to admit what she'd been up to, not with Ford so close, and especially not after the unexpected kick. "You're forgiven," she said lightly, before swimming off, hoping the conversation would end there.

As she swam away, Evalin couldn't help but feel a little embarrassed, but she masked it with a playful grin. She'd have to be more careful next time... or maybe not, depending on how the day went.

The sun was beginning to dip lower in the sky, casting a warm golden glow over the pool. After a long afternoon of swimming, the Pines family had all drifted to the edge of the water. Evalin floated to the shallow end, feeling relaxed and content from all the fun in the pool, her hair now tangled but still vibrant. She swam up to the side and hoisted herself out with an elegant flick of her legs.

Mabel had been the next to climb out, her energy still as bright as ever despite the hours in the water. Dipper followed soon after, a towel wrapped around his waist as he gave a dramatic shake of his head, flinging water everywhere in an attempt to dry his hair. Stan and Ford were still in the pool, but only for a few moments more before they too made their way out.

"Alright, everyone!" Stan called out from the poolside, his booming voice cutting through the relaxed atmosphere. "Who's ready for some real food? I'm starving!"

Ford, looking as relaxed as ever, chuckled as he reached for a towel to dry off. "You certainly know how to pick the perfect time for a meal, Stanley."

Evalin, still feeling a little giddy from the swim, glanced over at Mabel, who was already pulling on a beach towel to wrap around herself. "I don't know about you, but after swimming all day, pizza sounds like a great idea."

Mabel's eyes lit up, her excitement contagious. "Pizza! YES! With extra cheese, please!"

"Good call," Dipper agreed, laughing as he wiped his face with his towel. "I'm pretty sure we all earned it after that wild pool game."

Ford wrapped his towel around his waist, giving Evalin a casual smile. "I'd say a pizza outing sounds like the perfect way to end a day like this."

With the group all dried off and changed into their regular clothes, they gathered their things and made their way towards the car. It was a short drive to the local pizzeria, where the smell of fresh dough and melted cheese hit them as soon as they stepped inside. The small bell above the door jingled as they walked in, and the family was greeted with warm smiles by the staff.

The Pines family settled into their booth at the pizzeria, the mood light and relaxed after a day spent swimming. Stan grinned, immediately waving over the server. "One large pizza, a pitcher of soda, and some lemonade for the lady!" he called out, winking at Evalin as he placed the order.

As the pizza arrived and everyone dug in, the conversations flowed effortlessly, with Dipper and Mabel teasing each other over who got the last slice of cheese and Stan launching into stories of his old "adventures." Evalin sipped her lemonade, the tangy sweetness refreshing after the swim, her heart warmed by the familial atmosphere.

Once they finished their meal, everyone made their way back to the car. Stan took the wheel, while Ford sat beside him. Evalin, Mabel, and Dipper slumped into the back seat, exhausted from the day's activities. The drive back to the shack was quiet for the most part, save for the gentle hum of the engine and the occasional soft laugh or yawn. Evalin leaned her head against the cool glass of the window, her eyes fluttering closed. The gentle movement of the car soon lulled her to sleep.

In the front seat, Stan and Ford both glanced back at the kids, and their eyes softened at the sight. Mabel had her head resting on Dipper's shoulder, her small body curled up, and Evalin was curled up, her head leaning against the window as she drifted peacefully. Ford couldn't help but smile, his thoughts mirroring Stan's.

"They really do make an adorable bunch, don't they?" Ford said, his voice low, a touch of affection in his tone.

Stan nodded, glancing back at them with a grin. "They sure do. Even the lady in the back there. You see how peaceful she looks? Kind of makes you forget what she's really capable of."

Ford chuckled softly. "I think it's nice. It's good to see her like this."

Stan returned his focus to the road, driving them back to the shack. Once they arrived, he parked the car and turned to Ford. "I'll carry Pumpkin if you carry Dweeb, OK?"

Ford nodded, getting out of the car as Stan moved to the back, carefully lifting Mabel in his arms. He was careful not to disturb her slumber, even though he was half tempted to give them a little shake just to see if they'd wake up.

Meanwhile, Evalin, still a little groggy, dragged herself out of the car. Her legs were tired, but she made her way slowly toward the door, doing her best not to make too much noise as she made her way to her room.

Stan carried Mabel up the stairs to their shared room in the attic, tucking her into bed before moving out of the way for Ford to bring in Dipper. With a final glance at them, Stan and Ford made their way back downstairs, satisfied that the kids were all settled in for the night.

"Goodnight, kids," Stan muttered to himself, before heading downstairs.

As Stan went off to his own room, Ford quietly made his way down the hallway. His steps slowed as he passed Evalin's room, noticing that the door had swung open just a little at his presence. The soft creak of the wood seemed to beckon him, and he hesitated.

"Stanford," Evalin's voice called softly from inside, warm and inviting. "Could you come in for a moment?"

His curiosity piqued, Ford pushed the door open fully. As it swung wide, he found himself standing at the threshold of Evalin's room, taking in the sight before him.

Stepping into the room felt like entering another world. Bundles of herbs hung from the ceiling, their earthy scents weaving through the air. Shelves lined the walls, each jar on them filled with a different mystery; stones, dried flowers, strange little trinkets, and who knows what else. In a corner stood a bookcase neatly packed with old tomes, their spines worn yet meticulously organized, hinting at Evalin's thoughtful nature despite the room's enchanting, free-spirited atmosphere.

The furniture was unexpectedly elegant. Her nightstand, dresser, and a small table near the window were of remarkable quality, polished and refined. Ford wondered where she could have found such pieces but decided not to ask. It was a detail that only added to the mystery of Evalin herself.

But what drew him most was her bed. The mattress and box spring were still set directly on the floor, yet the surrounding nest of pillows and blankets created a haven of softness, a place that invited one to sink in and relax. Evalin lay there now, half-asleep, her red hair flowing over the pillows like a river of fire. Her eyes fluttered open as he entered, and a soft, almost lazy smile played across her face, warm and welcoming.

Ford smiled back and took a step into the room. He approached her quietly, not wanting to disturb the serene atmosphere she had created for herself.

"Thank you, Stanford," Evalin murmured, her voice low and warm. She patted the bed beside her for him to sit with her. "Thank you for today... for helping me through my breakdown. And for showing me a good time at the pool. Even if you accidentally kicked me in the face," she added with a teasing grin, a light laugh escaping her lips.

Ford chuckled softly, shaking his head. "I didn't mean to kick you in the face," he said, his voice a little more sheepish. "I'm just glad you're doing better."

Evalin's gaze softened, and she stretched lazily, pulling herself further into the pile of pillows. "I never thought I'd find a place like this, Stanford. A place where I could just... relax. Even after everything." She shifted again, clearly comfortable in her little nest, and added, "It feels good to be accepted. I'm not used to it."

Ford was quiet for a moment, thinking over her words. He could tell it meant a lot to her, and it made his heart feel a little heavier, in the best way. "I'm glad you're here, Evalin. I'm glad you're part of this family."

Evalin met his gaze, her smile genuine but still faint. "Thank you," she murmured. After a beat, she sat up slightly, her eyes sparkling with something playful. "Actually, there's something I've been wanting to show you, if you don't mind."

Ford raised an eyebrow, curious. "What is it?" he asked, stepping a little closer to her bed.

Evalin's expression turned more mysterious, her lips curling into a mischievous smile. "Just something I think you might like." She patted the bed next to her again. "Come sit with me. I promise it won't bite... probably..."

Ford hesitated for a second before taking a seat at the edge of the bed, his gaze never leaving her. There was something about her, something captivating, and he couldn't help but be drawn in. "Alright, I'm intrigued," he said, his voice low and amused.

Evalin let out a nervous laugh, her cheeks pink as she cast a spell over her satchel to make it visible to him and pulled it closer. It was a beautiful, well-crafted leather satchel with a strange symbol on the front and a stunning, shiny stone on the latch. "It's... it's a bottomless bag," she explained quickly, trying to downplay it. "It... holds anything and everything you put in it."

"A bottomless bag?" he repeated, as if trying to process it. "You're telling me it's actually... infinite? Like... like it just stores everything?" He leaned in closer, his gaze practically devouring her as he stared at the satchel. "How does that even work? How do you even-?"

Evalin's face turned an even deeper shade of red as Ford's enthusiasm poured over her. His excitement was contagious, but it also made her feel incredibly exposed. "Uh, yeah. I guess. It's not that big of a deal," she mumbled, not used to someone being so genuinely interested in something so simple to her. But Ford's excitement was so palpable that she couldn't help but smile despite her nerves.

She hesitated for a second before opening the satchel, her heart racing as Ford's gaze followed every movement. She carefully reached inside, her hand sinking into the depths of the bag. She quickly pulled out a thick, leather-bound book and held it out for Ford to see. "See? It's just like that," she said softly, her voice tinged with embarrassment.

Ford's eyes widened even further, and he quickly grabbed the book from her hands, turning it over to inspect it. "That's insane!" he exclaimed, his voice filled with awe. "How can it just... hold this? It's... it's a magical artifact, right? This is amazing! I've read about bags like this but I never thought I'd actually see one!"

Evalin could barely process his words as she watched him, his excitement palpable. He was practically bouncing in place, his hands still holding the book as if it were something sacred. "It's... it's not a big deal," she repeated, though it sounded less convincing this time. "It's just a bag. It's handy, that's all."

Ford wasn't listening to her, though. His eyes were locked on her, filled with a kind of wonder that made Evalin feel both shy and incredibly flattered. He dropped the book on the bed suddenly and grabbed her hands in his, holding them tightly as his excitement bubbled over. "This is incredible, Evalin," he said, his voice nearly breathless with enthusiasm. "You've got a real magical artifact with you! Do you even know how powerful this is? This is like... you've got your own little universe in a bag! You could carry anything in here! This is limitless!"

Evalin's heart skipped a beat at the warmth of his touch, her cheeks burning as she looked down at their hands. She couldn't help but feel overwhelmed by how completely enthralled he was by something so simple to her. His excitement, his energy; it was all so contagious, and she was having trouble thinking straight as she absorbed it all.

His grip on her hands tightened slightly as he rambled on, his gaze not leaving hers. "Imagine what you could do with this! You could store entire bookshelves in here, or-"

Evalin's face turned bright red, her hands warm and tingling in his. She tried to pull back a bit, but Ford didn't seem to notice. His grasp was secure, almost instinctive, as he kept rambling with that same unrestrained excitement. He was so caught up in the moment that he seemed completely unaware he was holding her hands at all.

She looked up at him, her gaze drifting to his lips as he spoke. She wasn't really listening, caught instead in the strange pull she felt when he looked at her that way. The feeling was unfamiliar, making her heart race and her cheeks flush, but she quickly blinked and averted her eyes, struggling to regain her composure.

"It's... it's just a bag, Stanford," she stammered, forcing herself to laugh lightly as she pushed away the confusing sensation. "Nothing special."

Ford didn't seem to hear her as he continued, his voice filled with wonder. "You could carry anything! It's like... like an endless pocket dimension or something! Do you know how rare this is?" He squeezed her hands gently, his eyes practically glowing as he looked at her with admiration. "This is the kind of thing you read about in fantasy stories, Evalin. I'm just... wow, this is unbelievable."

Evalin's heart raced, her breath catching in her throat as she studied him. She was so caught up in the moment, so completely taken by his excitement and his presence, that she didn't even realize how close they had become until she felt a flutter in her chest.

She swallowed hard, fighting the urge to lean in, to close the distance between them. "I... uh... I didn't think it was that big of a deal," she muttered, her voice barely a whisper as she looked away, suddenly feeling very self-conscious.

Ford chuckled softly, his smile full of warmth. "Evalin, this is amazing. It is a big deal." He leaned in just a little, his voice growing softer, more intimate. "I've never met anyone like you."

Evalin's heart raced as Ford's words hung in the air, leaving her feeling flustered and more than a little light-headed. She shifted uncomfortably, finding it harder and harder to breathe with him so close, his warm hands still holding hers. She swallowed thickly, trying to collect her thoughts, but her body felt like it was betraying her as she became more aware of how much she wanted him.

Her cheeks burned, and she shifted, desperately trying to focus on something else. Anything else.

"U-um..." she stammered, breaking the silence. "I-I got this bag from, uh, a shop called Oddity's. It's a place where... well, where strange things are sold. Things from all different worlds and dimensions." She blurted out the first thing she could think of to change the subject, not wanting to let her growing feelings for him become any more obvious.

Ford, of course, didn't seem to notice her flustered state. His excitement only seemed to grow as she spoke, his eyes lighting up even more. "Oddity's? An interdimensional shop?" His voice cracked slightly with excitement. "That's... that's incredible, Evalin! What was the exchange like? What else have you gotten from there? Oh, this is amazing, I could-"

Evalin laughed softly, her hands now feeling too warm under his grip. She could practically feel the rush of questions he wanted to ask. His curiosity was so intense, and she didn't know how much longer she could keep her composure as he drilled her with more and more inquiries.

"Stanford," she said, her voice softer than usual, but with a gentle firmness. "I promise, I'll tell you everything. But not tonight." She gave him a small, tired smile, hoping to calm him down. "It's getting late. And, um... I'm really tired. I've had a long day, and I think I need some sleep."

Ford blinked, clearly still caught up in his thoughts. He looked at her with a mixture of affection and disappointment. "Right. Sorry, I just... I'm so fascinated by everything you've told me. I could listen to you talk about this stuff for hours, Evalin."

Evalin shifted uncomfortably, feeling a warmth spread through her chest as she glanced away. "I know you're excited. And I'll explain more when I can. But... I need to rest."

Ford smiled at her, giving her hands a reassuring squeeze before reluctantly letting go. "I understand. We can talk more another time. But I can't wait to hear the rest."

Evalin shifted a little under the covers, her face still flushed from their conversation. She looked at Ford, feeling a sense of warmth spread through her chest. "Thank you for everything today, Ford. You really helped me. I…I'll explain everything about the bag and the shop I swear."

Ford looked at her with a mixture of affection and curiosity, his excitement simmering down just a little. "Of course. I can't wait to hear more... but you need your rest."

She smiled, her eyes flicking toward the comfort of the blankets. "Goodnight, Ford," she whispered, the words soft but filled with sincerity.

Ford's eyes softened at the use of his nickname, and he gave her a warm smile. "Goodnight, Evi. Sleep well."

He lingered for just a moment longer, his gaze on her with an unspoken understanding. Then, with a quiet sigh, he stepped out of the room, the door magically closing and locking behind him, leaving Evalin to drift off into a peaceful, contented sleep, her thoughts still floating around their conversation.
