No-One But You (The Star Child's Eclipse)
Chapter 84: Doom (Part 4)
…
The current time in the great state of New York is approximately seven hours behind Latveria.
…
That means if it was early in the morning for Sofia Strange, then it was early in the evening for her parents and Victor Von Doom.
Their storylines weren't "eclipsing" around in the same physical location any longer, and they probably weren't going to eclipse again for a long while.
Nah, that little "Star Child" was still asleep at the X-Mansion at this point in the story, up until a loud knock on the door forced her out of an interesting dream.
Sofia sat up in a panic, cuz.. I mean.. she wasn't used to that at all.
…
Someone in her room was already awake as well.. making noise.
Eleanor Camacho was wide awake, and she ran to the door as soon as she heard someone knock.
Oh, whoa.. another kid? Wait. Another mutant?
Sofia Strange tried to rub the sleep out of her eyes, then she immediately frowned when she took notice of her dark hair.
…
"Professor X says you're supposed to give Sofia a tour, and she's supposed to meet Dr. McCoy."
…
The door slammed shut before Eleanor could say anything to the messenger.
Ellie had a plan to ask everyone she saw that day about the man at the soccer game. Wade, Wilson?
She drew a picture of him, and she planned to see if anyone at the X-Mansion knew where he was.
…
"Who's Dr. McCoy?"
…
Sofia pushed her hair off her shoulders as she spoke to her noisy "roommate."
She had a little suitcase of stuff to rummage through as well, so she started hunting around for a change of clothes.
…
"He's the big blue BEAST. He's got razor sharp claws, enormous fangs… and you can't miss him."
…
Whoooo. Eleanor chuckled a little bit as she described Dr. McCoy to Sofia. She tried to make him seem super scary, because she could.
Sofia's nose crinkled up a little after she heard Ellie's response. Why was she supposed to meet someone like that? The little girl could only wonder.
Eleanor laughed a little to herself as she watched the daughter of Stephen and Clea Strange emerge from her slumber.
Sofia had a "sophisticated" aura to her as she picked out her clothes and got herself ready for the day, but Eleanor didn't know what that word meant.
The word she inwardly thought of was… "snooty."
She thought Sofia Strange was a SNOOTY brat. Yeah.. that was the correct word.
Anyway, Eleanor didn't mind showing Sofia around their part of the X-Mansion.
Being there was pretty routine for her, so she added some additional details to her drawing of "Wade" while she waited for Sofia to finish getting dressed.
They eventually left the room together, but Sofia was slowly following behind.
She wanted to look at everything that crossed their path, so she was called a "slow-poke" at some point in the story.
A.. slow-poke? What did that mean? Ugh. Sofia felt very irritated with Eleanor as she followed her around the X-Mansion.
She didn't EXPLAIN anything to her either as they walked, and Ellie just wandered around like a crazy animal.
…
"HAVE YOU SEEN THIS MAN?"
…
Eleanor wanted to track someone down, so she couldn't be bothered with what she was supposed to be doing for Sofia Strange.
ACK, actually… she got mega distracted.
That's what happened, so yeah… she WANTED to give Sofia a tour of the space, but she forgot what she was doing a million times.
…
"Have I seen this man? Which man?"
…
They eventually reached THE BEAST, and Eleanor quickly shoved the picture she drew up as high as she could as soon as she saw him.
Dr. Hank McCoy peered over his glasses once Eleanor Camacho entered his thinking space, and he started focusing on two different things in that moment.
Sofia Strange was there, by the door, and then there was the picture. Hmm…
…
"I actually have seen this man before, Ellie. Why on Earth are you looking for him?"
…
How interesting, how intriguing, and how very entertaining… Dr. McCoy had a large smile on his face after he gave Eleanor back her drawing.
She took it back in her hands, then she looked at it with a tiny frown.
Eleanor wasn't sure WHY she was looking for him, but she could tell he was watching her during the soccer game, so…
He didn't seem familiar, or anything like that…
No, he just seemed MEGA COOL, and Ellie wanted to know who he was.
…
"Why am I supposed to meet you, Dr. McCoy?"
…
Sofia decided to speak in that moment, because her "roommate" was taking forever to respond.
It made things a little awkward, and who wants that?
Ah. The mutant formally known as "Beast" stepped back from the intruding children and he started looking around a bookshelf.
Beast had something very specific to give to the daughter of Stephen Strange, because it was a full-circle moment.
…
"Your father stole several books from my library when he stayed here years ago, but he brought them back… and now you're supposed to read them."
…
Sofia's face cracked into a puzzled look after Dr. McCoy explained something her father did.
Her father actually STOLE books from… wait.. Sofia was shocked at the thought.
The books were huge too, and dusty. She watched the furry mutant as he carried an armful of books over toward a table.
They hit the table hard, but Sofia was right there in an instant…
Her heart was actually pounding with excitement, because it felt like her father was leaving her some sort of clue.
…
"Your parents want you to develop the abilities you have from your father's genetic line while you're here, then… they will give you back the abilities you have from your mother."
…
Understood?
Beast gave Sofia Strange the cordial direction, as instructed, then he turned his full attention back to Eleanor Camacho.
She was clearly on a mission of her own.. and she definitely wasn't interested in reading some dusty old book.
The mutant looked at the drawing in her hand once again, and he began to piece together something based off of how she was moving around.
Ellie was fidgeting around, and touching absolutely everything in sight.
That high level energy was a bit too familiar, so the Beast's eyebrow slowly began to arch up toward the ceiling…
…
"You'd better take that drawing straight to Professor X. He can tell you all about Wade Wilson, and you can trust him."
…
OKAY.
The "big blue" Beast didn't have to say another word on the matter either, because Ellie was long gone before he could even process his own sentence.
She knew where to find the bald dude on wheels, so off she went.
Sofia held a blank stare as that noise machine loudly made her exit.
Stephen and Clea's daughter said nothing further in that moment tho, and she just started digging through the book that her father wanted her to read.
