The atmosphere in the van was tense as the gang drove to the second location, a nondescript building on the outskirts of Chicago that matched the next clue. Veronica Lodge sat in the passenger seat, gripping her phone tightly as she reread Hailey's last text. Moose Mason was quiet, his mind clearly on Jay Halstead, who remained in Hailey's clutches. Betty Cooper, seated near the back, stared out the window, her expression grim.

The building loomed before them, its faded exterior giving no indication of what lay inside. They hesitated at the entrance before Betty pushed the door open, leading the way. Inside, the air was stale, and a long table sat in the middle of an otherwise empty room. A single piece of paper lay on the table, its stark white surface oddly pristine.

Betty approached it cautiously, her heart racing as she picked it up. Her eyes widened as she recognized the initials scrawled at the bottom: E.E. "No," she whispered, her voice trembling.

"What is it?" Cheryl Blossom asked, stepping closer.

Betty turned to the group, holding the paper out for them to see. "E.E. Edgar Evernever and Evelyn Evernever. This... this is connected to The Farm."

Toni Topaz froze, her expression darkening. "The Farm? That insane organ cult? What does Hailey have to do with them?"

Betty's hands shook as she tried to explain. "They manipulated so many of us—including me, Cheryl, Kevin, my mom, and Polly. They pretended to offer salvation but were harvesting organs."

The room fell silent, the weight of Betty's words hanging in the air.

Before anyone could react further, their phones buzzed with another message from Hailey:

"Betty, sign the paper. Rejoin The Farm, or Jay will pay the price. Your move."

Betty's breathing quickened as she stared at the paper. "No, I can't…"

"Don't," Kevin Keller said firmly, stepping forward. "This is exactly what she wants."

"But what if it's the only way to save Jay?" Betty argued, her voice cracking.

"You know The Farm was a lie," Kevin shot back. "You know what they did to us. Signing that paper is just giving Hailey more control."

Betty hesitated, tears filling her eyes. She glanced at Moose, who was visibly distressed, and at Veronica, whose clenched fists betrayed her barely contained fury.

"I don't have a choice," Betty whispered, grabbing the pen from the table and signing the paper with shaking hands.

"Betty, no!" Kevin shouted, but it was too late.

Betty dropped the pen, backing away from the table as if it had burned her. "I had to," she said, her voice trembling. "For Jay."

Kevin's frustration boiled over. "You think this is going to save him? It's only going to make things worse!"

Their phones buzzed again, cutting through the tension. Another message from Hailey appeared:

"Good girl, Betty. The second clue is complete. Here's the third."

Veronica stepped forward, her voice sharp as she read the new clue aloud: "Where judgment was passed, and fates were sealed, look for the truth hidden in the ruins."

Jughead frowned, his mind racing. "Judgment… fates sealed… that sounds like a courthouse."

Archie nodded. "There's an old courthouse downtown that's been abandoned for years. It has to be there."

Veronica exhaled sharply, shoving her phone into her pocket. "Then let's go. And this time, no one does anything Hailey says without the rest of us agreeing."

The group piled into the van once more, the tension between Kevin and Betty palpable. Cheryl sat between them, her arms crossed as she tried to mediate.

"You were manipulated before, Betty," Kevin said, his tone softer now. "Don't let her do it again."

Betty didn't respond, staring at her lap as guilt gnawed at her. Moose, sitting beside her, placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder.

"We'll figure this out," Moose said quietly. "Jay would want us to stick together."

When they arrived at the abandoned courthouse, the building's imposing facade loomed over them, its cracked windows and ivy-covered walls adding to the foreboding atmosphere. They entered cautiously, the sound of their footsteps echoing through the empty halls.

Veronica led the way, her flashlight cutting through the darkness. "Keep your eyes open. Hailey's clues aren't exactly subtle."

In one of the courtrooms, they found a pile of charred documents and a large envelope marked with a single word: "TRUTH."

Jughead opened the envelope, revealing another series of photographs and a cryptic message: "You've come this far. The next step is where trust was betrayed. Look to the place where secrets were exchanged for lies."

"What does that even mean?" Tabitha asked, her voice frustrated.

"It sounds like another riddle," Valerie muttered, glancing around the room.

Before they could analyze further, their phones buzzed again. Hailey's message sent a chill through the group:

"Clock's ticking, and Jay's time is running out. See you at the next stop."

Veronica pocketed her phone, her jaw tightening. "This ends soon. Let's figure out where this next clue leads and end her games once and for all."

The group nodded, their resolve strengthening as they prepared to head to the next location and save Jay before it was too late.
