Third Person's Point of View
The Hei Bai Forest is immense and stretches out before the two princes of the Fire Nation accompanied by Jeong Jeong like a vast ocean of greenery emanating tranquility.
A majestic and serene landscape, enveloped in an atmosphere of freshness and stillness...
The trees stand tall and proud, forming a canopy of deep greens that filters sunlight into golden aces. The pines, with slender, pointed needles, create an emerald green backdrop that contrasts with the cedars, whose scale-like trunks and leaves add a darker, earthier hue to the natural landscape...
Oak trees, with their broad, deep leaves, feature a range of greens ranging from dark green to bright green, while their spreading branches provide dense, inviting shade. The ash tree, on the other hand, stands out with its painted leaves that provide a more subtle green, when the wind plays between them.
The air is infused with a deep, earthy aroma of fresh wood, combining with more subtle notes of pine resin and the slightly spicy fragrance of cedar. Each inhalation brings with it a sense of renewal, as if the very essence of the forest is penetrating every fiber of being. As the wind blows gently, the scent mixes with a slight hint of soil moisture and the delicate scent of moss, creating a rich and complex olfactory experience.
With sunlight piercing the canopy of leaves and branches, while painting the forest floor with a mosaic of shadows and golden reflections. As the sun's rays fall at irregular angles, illuminating patches of fallen leaves that vary in hues from dark green to golden brown. The mix of colors, textures, and scents create a sense of calm and connection with nature, a haven that seems to get away from the hustle and bustle of the world...
The forest cannot be described in any other way than as a place of wonder and majesty, but what really captures the attention of those who are located in the middle of the labyrinth of nature is the uniqueness of its trees.
As the trio dig deeper, they notice a prominent feature that distinguishes this forest from others and that is the roots of the trees. Trees that dominate this corner of the world are imposing not only for their height, but also for the spectacular extension of their roots. Unlike most trees, whose roots remain hidden underground, roots that are so large that they are proudly displayed on the surface, creating an intricate tapestry of wood and earth.
These thick, as well as twisted, roots of a faint red that oscillate between coral and clay, form an incredible and bright contrast with the deep green of the foliage. The red color of the roots is subtle but unmistakable, bringing a touch of warmth and mystery to the environment, the reddish hue seems to glow softly in the sun, giving each root an almost ethereal and magical appearance. But the faint red becomes more intense near the base of the tree, where the roots branch out into complex, tangled shapes, creating an intricate web that stretches across the forest floor.
While the roots when they come to the surface, they have created a textured and dynamic landscape.
Some roots curl up into graceful spirals, others extend along that seem to meander through the ground, and many intertwined forming natural passageways and small hollows in nature.
In some places, the roots rise in sturdy columns, as if they were pillars that support the majesty of the trees, and in others they curve towards the ground in a protective embrace. While the contrast between the faint red color of the roots and the bright green of the leaves created a fascinating visual effect.
As the trio walked among these giants, the ground looked like a living carpet of wood and earth, where the red of the roots stands out like a stream of energy running through the landscape, with the rough texture of the roots adding an element of rusticity to the surroundings, inviting exploration and awe at the grandeur of nature.
Entering the forest for the first time, the three visitors were able to experience a mixture of wonder and unease. The entrance to the forest, with its dense and enveloping atmosphere, is like crossing the threshold of a parallel world, as you go deeper into the forest, the first impression is that of an overwhelmingly green and bright environment.
But there was something peculiar about the treetops, with their leaves in multiple shades of green and the red of the exposed roots. The air is fresh indeed and was charged with the scent of wood, resin, and damp earth, but they couldn't help but feel it revitalizing and strange. And the sounds of the forest, such as the rustling of leaves underfoot and the rustling of the wind through the branches, contribute to an atmosphere that feels an enigmatic tranquility for the three of them.
That peculiar feature most puzzling was the uniformity of the landscape. Every corner of the forest looks like a repetition, an exact copy of the previous part, the tree trunks are similar in size and color. The twisted roots so varied form a seemingly infinite lattice, and the ground covered with fallen leaves and twigs forms a repeating pattern after a few dozen meters in any direction... With the lack of clear landmarks they make it surprisingly easy to get lost.
The atmosphere may feel almost labyrinthine, the trio may notice how the orientation becomes confusing. Roads and trails seem to fade into the undergrowth, and the density of the forest makes the perception of distance misleading. What appears to be a clear trail quickly turns into a series of forks, visible roots that once seemed to be reliable guides now intertwining in a sea of red tangles with the repetition of the landscape, becoming almost indistinguishable from one another.
In addition, the further they go into the forest, the sunlight that penetrates through the canopy disperses into a diffuse glow, creating shadows that appear to move with the wind, adding an element of visual confusion.
Visitors can feel a growing sense of concern as the forest closes in around them, the environment becoming a tapestry of colors and shapes that repeat themselves endlessly.
Basically to those not used to the area, the forest can seem like a place of constant threat and mystery. But the feeling of being in an environment that defies perception and orientation can trigger a mixture of restlessness and adrenaline. While the landscape can seem both a natural refuge and an unforgiving trap, where the beauty and complexity of the environment are intertwined with a real challenge to maintain direction and safety.
For the creatures of the forest, however, the environment is a familiar home dominated by wild instinct. The animals move with surprising agility for the trio among the maze of roots and trunks, navigating the terrain with a dexterity that seems to defy the very laws of nature.
As the shadows of deer and foxes glide between the trees with an almost ethereal fluidity, their movements are so precise and confident that they seem to be in complete harmony with the forest, as if every creaky twig under their legs and every blade of moss on the ground is part of a complex mental map. While their keen senses and deep instinct allow them to detect the paths hidden from man, avoiding natural hazards and moving confidently in an environment that would be unforgivingly the same for humans.
However, the forest is also home to more feared creatures. The current war has caused monsters and witches to somehow use this forest strategically to attack trade routes and supply routes for the troops on the front lines of the battle and the recent attacks on the city of Omashu make them believe that the monsters still have much more to offer.

It had been perhaps half a day since Iroh along with his younger brother and Jeong arrived at things and went into the forest in the direction of the Dragon Mountains.
Ozai, a boy of just over ten years of age, advances along the winding forest path following the Iroh pass. Her small body, sheathed in a set of traditional clothes of great price, moves with a mixture of nervousness and enthusiasm, adapting with surprising skill to the demands of the terrain, following the warnings and advice of the two older men.
Ozai's clothes are a spectacle in themselves. He wears an elegant suit in deep red, a vibrant hue that makes him stand out in the middle of the forest environment. The fabric, of a quality that reflected its expensive origin, falls into perfectly aligned and tight folds, which oscillate with every step it takes. The elongated, horizontal buttons, in deep black, add a touch of sophistication to the outfit, creating a striking contrast with the bright red of the fabric.
On the front of her attire, an intricate design of oriental clouds and dragons is embroidered with golden thread, capturing the light that filters through the canopy of leaves and shining with a subtle, magical glow.
Every detail of the embroidery is meticulously crafted, with the clouds swirling around the dragons snaking gracefully as a tribute to her family's rich tradition and lineage. On the back of his outfit, the Fire Nation symbol stamped with equal precision. The emblem, a seal of power and authority, is highlighted in a golden hue that complements the front design and accentuates the symbol's importance. This grand and proud emblem represents his family's legacy and honor, a constant reminder of his position and heritage...
...
"How long until we get there?" asked the young prince and heir
"For the tenth time, we still have a long way to go!" Iroh replied, fed up with his brother's questions, "If you're just going to be complaining, you can go back to the ship, tell them who you are and they'll take you to the palace right away!"
"I won't come back, I'll stay with you... But we've been walking in this damn forest for a long time and it seems that we haven't made any progress at all and I say... walk... mud... moss. It's not the place a prince has to be!"
"I'll tell you this way, little brother," Iroh said with a sickly sweet tone and smile, only for him to change a few drastically when he spoke again. "If you don't shut up... I'll throw you at the first monster we find!"
"I told you, my lord, that you missed your chance," Jeong added. "You should have killed him a long time ago... When he was still a baby... our lives could have been easier."
"We're being punished by Agni, Jeong."
"Do you know I can hear you?" Ozai asked annoyed
"That's the intention," Jeong replied with a mocking smile
"Damn... Someday I will take revenge and you...
"Don't stop!" Iroh said, interrupting his younger brother's words, "We have to keep walking, if we stay still we are easy prey for any monster or beast.
Iroh, with his imposing and serene presence, moved with a natural confidence through the forest, his attire marked with a distinct difference from his younger brother's elaborate wardrobe. While Ozai wore a suit adorned with intricate embroidery and gold symbols, Iroh opts for a more practical and simple outfit, which reflects his experience and character.
The crown prince wears a set of deep red clothes that, although the same in color as his brother's, lacks ornaments or embroidery. Her suit is made up of a robust finish and straight cut, with a utilitarian design that prioritizes functionality over ornamentation.
The only distinctive detail is the Fire Nation symbol on his back, which is embroidered in a slightly darker shade of red. Iroh's pants are equally practical, made of a resistant fabric that allows agile and comfortable movement between the roots and obstacles of the forest.
His clothing is perfectly fitted for easy mobility, and their high-cut black leather military boots provide solid support and protection from rough terrain. The boots, sturdy and worn from use, while Iroh's hair is a bit long and unkempt, however, if a gray hair. His beard is also well cared for, his face with his bushy eyebrows and large sideburns add an appearance of robustness while maintaining a natural appeal, his brown, deep and attentive eyes observe the surroundings with a mixture of tranquility and determination.
"How are we doing with time?" Iroh asked, "it will soon be dark so we will have to camp.
"We still have a couple of hours before the sun goes down," Jeong replied, "at this rate it will take us four days to cross the forest... Are you sure we will be okay?"
"Yes, there is enough food and water for ten days and so far we have been lucky, no monsters have crossed our path, it seems that they are quite busy with the troops at the front."
"If you say so..."
Jeong's face showed concern, he had the idea and feeling that they should not be there, however, he did not take it so seriously.
Jeong, in his twenties, distinguishes himself in the forest with a presence that mixes youth and determination, complemented by military attire. His appearance, although more messy than Iroh's, maintains a balanced sophistication in his dress.
Jeong's hair is slightly longer than Iroh's, falling in somewhat unkempt tufts of dark tone, a characteristic of Jeong is that he has never shaved his beard since he appeared at sixteen, a long, well-groomed goatee, much more so than his hair. The black pants of the uniform are equally functional, complemented by knee reinforcements and a fitted design that facilitates mobility in the uneven terrain of the forest. The combat boots, also in black, are robust which provided support and protection against the difficulties of the forest floor.
"Brother... can I ask you a question?" Little Ozai said as he jumped over some roots that came out of the ground
"What's going on?, Want to rest for a moment?"
"It's not that... I was just wondering what kind of monsters live in this forest, I remember that our father always tells his troops to avoid the entrance and surroundings of the forest because of the monsters that inhabit the area"
"Well... To tell you the truth, I don't know exactly which monsters live here, but they must not be different from the usual ones, or so I think.
"It's just that... Since we entered here I have not seen any creature, I feared the feeling that we would meet one beast after another but... it is like any other forest"
"Well... Now that you mention it, we certainly haven't seen anything"
"My lord, the young master is right," Jeong interrupted, "it's strange that we haven't seen anything yet"
"What do you think is the reason for this?... Is luck finally on my side?
"If you will allow me to mention it... Luck abandoned the Fire Nation a long time ago, in fact, I think it abandoned the entire world"
Both Iroh and Jeong held their chins as he analyzed the situation of the forest and looked around, surely Ozai was as surprised and confused as the two of them.
"Is it possible that the troops exterminated the monsters near the coast... and those in the reports were only imaginations of the soldiers and that this forest did not have as many creatures as these mention?" Iroh thought before saying, but not entirely convinced "I think... we are thinking about it too much... although it is certainly a bit suspicious"
Jeong nodded, confirming that he was also hesitating about the current situation.
"But in any case it is possible that the monsters are gathered deeper into the forest, I think it is best to go around the center and take a secondary path that will take us to the Hei Bai lagoon. Jeong said seriously
Jeong reminded Iroh of something that happened to them earlier, about a month ago.
Iroh went on a mission that had to do with clearing the southern air temple, a small pack of some kind of rather large and ferocious wolves had entered the temples of the airbenders, being so close to the territory of the Fire Nation that it was a matter to which giving necessary attention was the right thing to do. Iroh did what he always did, he along with the soldiers who were with him finished off the wolves except for one of them who managed to escape inside the temple, when following him, to Iroh's surprise, inside there were still some hidden wolves, waiting for the perfect moment to attack, which is by definition an ambush.
"Every time I think about it, I feel cheated and humiliated," Iroh said
To prevent something like this from happening again, it's best to take it easy.
"Hmm... but we are talking about a detour that will cost us two more days of travel" lamented the heir of the Fire Nation
"Isn't it enough for you to have fallen into the trap of a couple of monsters which are supposed to be brainless beasts?" Jeong asked
"But in this case, we'll run out of food on the return trip"
"Do you want to take a chance when little Ozai is here?" the aforementioned glared at Jeong for calling him little
"That's not what I want to say and you know it..."
"It's a simple calculation young master, our chances of survival rise if we don't cross the center of the forest, as we would have to go to the lake, we can catch some fish so it wouldn't mean any kind of loss in our provisions. Is that okay with you... My lord?
"Okay, in that case we'll take that damn detour..."

The lagoon of Hei Bai Forest is located near the northern part. This lagoon is part of the legends that exist about the Dragon Mountains, it is said that the same avatar who hid his treasure created this lagoon so that dragons would have access to fresh water since it comes directly from the subsoil.
Nowadays dragons are hardly seen anymore, and dragons are the first to inhabit the world, but since the disappearance of the avatar a hundred years ago, different dragons began to appear in the world
As much as the route to the lagoon is used as a shortcut to get to Makapu, this forest is a route only used by the brave natives of the area or the traveling merchants in a hurry or those who have a large number of escorts.
