It was exam day at Backwoods High, and the school library was packed with
students silently scribbling away, stressed and focused. Matt Marinara
and Jason Mustard sat near the back, both trying to make sense of their
history papers. The tension in the room was thick, as everyone struggled
to finish before the clock ran out.
Just as Matt was about to write down an answer, the library doors burst
open with a loud bang. In strolled Billy Murphy, the school's resident
psychotic guitar musician. Today, he was dressed head-to-toe in his most
outrageous getup yet—channeling the weird psycho from A Clockwork Orange.
He wore a bowler hat tilted at a strange angle, heavy eyeliner, and a
bright white jumpsuit, somehow managing to look both terrifying and
ridiculous at the same time.
Billy paused at the entrance, scanning the library like he was about to
perform a grand concert. He had no guitar, but that didn't matter.
Without warning, he let out a screech that sounded like a banshee in the
middle of a mental breakdown. Then, he started air-guitaring furiously,
his fingers mimicking wild riffs as he jerked his head back and forth
like a maniac. His screeches echoed through the once-silent library,
sending several students ducking in their seats.
Matt and Jason were stunned for all of two seconds before they burst out
laughing, their faces red from trying to hold it in.
"Oh my God," Jason gasped, wiping tears from his eyes. "He's lost it!"
Billy continued his one-man show, now leaping onto one of the tables, his
feet stomping rhythmically as he screamed and pretended to shred an
invisible guitar. With each wild head jerk, his bowler hat nearly flew
off, but he somehow managed to keep it on.
And then, as if this whole spectacle wasn't enough, David Lewis appeared,
camera in hand, already filming the chaos. "This is gold!" he whispered
excitedly to himself, capturing every insane second. He zoomed in on
Billy as he shrieked louder, throwing his head back and mimicking a
guitar solo that only he could hear.
Meanwhile, the exam proctor was frozen in shock, too stunned to do
anything as the other students either gawked or tried to stifle their
laughter. It wasn't until Principal Smith came storming in that the
madness came to an abrupt halt.
"MURPHY!" Smith's voice thundered through the library, cutting through
Billy' latest ear-piercing screech.
Billy, in mid-air guitar riff, turned slowly, his eyes wide and wild. He
stared at the principal for a beat before letting out one final, defiant
screech, his hands still mimicking guitar strings.
Smith wasn't having it. With a look of pure exasperation, he marched over
and grabbed Billy by the collar of his jumpsuit. "Enough!"
The entire room watched as Principal Smith dragged Billy out of the
library, the sound of his screeches fading down the hallway like some
bizarre rock-and-roll meltdown.
Matt and Jason were practically on the floor laughing by now, clutching
their sides. "Did you see his face when Smith grabbed him?" Matt wheezed.
"I can't believe David got the whole thing on camera!" Jason replied
between gasps for air.
From the hallway, they could hear Smith's voice, already on the phone.
"Yes, Mr. and Mrs. Murphy, it's happened again. You need to come pick him
up."
The library slowly returned to order, though the image of Billy' meltdown
was burned into everyone's minds. As David shut off his camera, he gave
Matt and Jason a smirk.
"Wait till you see the final cut of this one," he said. "Billy Murphy:
The Library Lunatic."
Matt shook his head, still grinning. "That guy's a legend."
Jordan laughed. "A psycho legend."
