Chapter 17:

The stroll

Getting a one-on-one meeting with the ancient overlord proved to be more difficult than initially anticipated.

Conflicting schedules and busy lives didn't help either, but last they heard, Zesitial was going to do his best to shift some things around to make some time and he'd be in contact with them as soon as he had a free spot.

In the meantime, Sera had decided to stick around and see the hotel function up close for herself.

It was truly impressive to see Lute, once a formidable enemy, now a stern but fair teacher, as her and Sera's sister were in the lecture hall, giving a hearing on several subjects.

Eventually, Once the lecture came to a close, Sera was quick to join her sister and her partner with others in the lobby.

"Is the newest resident not joining up?" the tall, 6 winged angel asked as Husk was in the middle of making drinks for several guests, who answered "Nah, she likes to be by herself"

Vaggie, who had entered the lobby by now, having overheard Sera's question, spoke up "Vallery is afraid Ink will harm anyone, so she rather keeps to herself"

"Poor girl" Velvette had piped up from her spot next to her partner, Ashley, as they were leaning against the high tables around the bar "Can only imagine the kinda shit that 8 eyed freak put her through"

Receiving several nods in agreement, it wouldn't me long before the topic would start to shift, eventually ending up at Vaggie's and Lute's old occupation as Ashley piped up "Ya know….it's funny" to which Velvette would raise a curious brow "What's funny, babe?"

"Well, I'm starting to notice a pattern" she spoke as she'd gesture to the 2 fallen angels "Our Vags here is a former exorcist, AND she's lesbian" she then brings up a pic on her phone of her bestie, Pink Neon, and her girlfriend, Melodie "Then there's Pink's girl, Mels….a former exorcist….AND a lesbian" before pocketing her phone again as she finished by pointing at lute "And you…Lute….former lieutenant of the exorcist army….and a once closeted lesbian"

The former lieutenant in question wanted to speak up but was quickly stopped as she gave it some thought "Yea….now that you point it out…." Before she piped up "Hey Vaggie, wasn't Delta gay too?"

This caused Vaggie's eyes to go wide "Holy shit, yea now that you mention it"

Hearing a chuckle, everyone's attention was brought back to the anarchy overlord who was now giggling to herself.

"What's so funny" Sera would ask, to which Ashley answered "Oh come on, you see it too, right?" as she made a wide armed gesture " Are literally ALL the exorcists lesbians? Was Adam really that unappealing of a man he singlehandedly turned all his soldiers gay?!"

This caused several chuckles and snorts as the others couldn't help but laugh at the comment, that was until they heard a low, disgruntled "Wow….just wow…..i'm literally right the fuck here, ya know, you bitch" In a monotone voice as the displeased demon form of Adam had entered the lobby by now.

This finally was the final straw as Ashley, Velvette, Vaggie and Lute couldn't keep it in anymore and they burst out laughing, Velvette blurting out "HOLY SHIT, TIMING!" in between laughing first.

After a little while, and all the laughing had died down, Lute was sitting next to her old general and by now, good friend as they shared a drink when Ashley piped up "So Sera….we know about Vaggie and Lute, how about you?"

The tall, 6 winged woman cocked her head in confusion "What do you mean with that, Ashley" as she squinted her eyes, expecting one of Ashley's usual snide remark from the sharp witted overlord

"Well, you bi?"

Sera gave them a confused look "Uhm….no? I'm straight?" which caused Ashley to snort "Yea right, do I have to remind you that me and Vel had a go with you?" as, when she said this, she raised her fist towards her girlfriend, Velvette, who gave Sera s smug grin as she fistbumped Ashley.

The tall angel's face broke out in a deep, golden blush as she pulled up the collar of her gown and hide her face in the fabric as she nervously began to ramble "YOU 2 GOT ME DRUNK, IT WAS A ONE-TIME THING!"

"To be very honest" Vaggie piped up "for the longest time, I thought you were ace….well…until Charlie and I saw the aftermath of that little romp you had" as she chuckled.

Sera's eyes widened "Not that there's anything wrong with that but what made you think I was?"

Vaggie shrugged "Well, in 10.000 years, I've never heard or seen anything about you pursuing someone, so I just thought you weren't interested"

Annoyed, Sera got up "I am high seraphim of heaven, I have allot of responsibilities, just because I don't have the time to pursue romance does not mean I don't want it!"

Emily would clear her throat, catching everyone's attention "How about that succubus?" which made Sera feel like she just wanted to sink into the floor then and there.

To which Lute managed to wheeze out in-between giggles "Wait really?!" to which the younger seraphim nodded "What was her name again….something with a V….veronica…verovero…uhm…"

This caused everyone to rubberneck towards the high seraphim "WAIT YOU HAD SEX WITH VEROSIKA MAYDAY?!" causing sera's face to break out in a deep gold as she yelped "EMILY, YOU TRAITOR! RPOMISED YOU WOULDN'T TELL!"

After a little while, their teasing was interrupted by Vaggie's phone going off.

Whipping it out and checking, she silenced the alarm that had apparently went off as she got up "Alright, ima head out, training with Carmilla" as she began to make her way towards the door.

"Vaggie wait" Sera spoke as she got up and quickly closed the distance "Mind if I walk with you? We'll be passing the heaven embassy on the way there anyway"

"I mean….you totally can" Vaggie responded "But can't you just create a portal back to heaven? Wouldn't that be faster?"

The tall seraphim smiled "It could, yes, but I do enjoy a stroll from time to time" tho in truth, the mentioning of the tall, silver haired overlord had gained Sera's attention.

She wasn't sure why….but the weapons dealer….intrigued her…..maybe she could inquire a bit more about her from Vaggie…..if the former exorcist was willing to answer her questions….

Vaggie shrugged "I don't see why not" but as she wanted to reach for the doorknob again, she remembered something as she turned to the tall woman again "Tho, me and Carmilla were going to grab a coffee beforehand, so she might meet us halfway, if you're comfortable with that". Sera waved a hand "Oh that is no problem at all, we have spoken before, quite a pleasant woman, great conversation" she smiled.

At this, Vaggie shrugged again "Well….sure, why not? Knock yourself out"

It was a bit of a walk but eventually, Vaggie and Sera made their way to the middle of the city, the large, looming shape of the heaven embassy came into view, once a testament of heaven's cruelty and a constant reminder of the upcoming exterminations, now a beacon of hope and possibilities ever since the revelation of the possibility of redemption 8 years ago.

As the 2 angels made their way closer to the square, Sera would notice a quaint looking little bistro on the far end of the plaza, and there, on the terrace, seated on one of the ornate iron chairs, a dainty cup on the table in front of her already, was the tall, imposing form of the angelic arms dealer herself.

As her eyes fell on the former exorcist, her lips pulled into a smile as once Vaggie got closer, she got up and gave the angel a hug "It's good to see you again" tho as her eyes fell on the second angel, she would straighten her back as her usually stern, professional decorum once again returned "High seraphim"

Sera gave a respectful nod with her head "Miss Carmine"

She couldn't help it…..ever since that first meeting with her at the hotel….she wasn't sure why, but there was something about the tall overlord that caused a subtle smile to creep on her face.

"High seraphim" Carmilla spoke "could i perhaps borrow a moment of your time somewhere this week? There is something I would like to discuss" she spoke, not losing her composure even for a moment.

The tall seraphim just waved a dismissive hand "I will see if I can make some room in my schedule somewhere this week, and please, no need for formalities, just call me Sera"

The tall sinner's brow would jolt up in surprise temporarily, before her face settled into a more pleasant smile and her posture relaxed a little "I see, but of course…Sera" before she gestured towards the table "Perhaps, you'd like to join us for a coffee? If you're not too busy of course, I understand you have your duties to attend to"

Smiling, Sera made her way to one of the chairs "not for at least 3 more hours, I got time" as she sat down, joined shortly after by Vaggie and Carmilla "Thank you, the offer is much appreciated"
