Summary: "Do you think it matters if you're a girl? If you're great, then you're great. That's all that matters here." Kagome was scouted to participate in Blue Lock, making her the sole female competitor. Her senses and instincts were unrivaled. This, she knew, was all Sesshomaru's fault. What an ego crush for these guys, facing off with someone like her.

Pairing: Undecided

Chapter One

There was no sense in denying the fact that she missed the usual chaos that came with her trips down the well. Now that everything was all said and done, and the well had sealed up with her in her proper era, she could safely take a step back, evaluate how it made her feel, and even acknowledge the gap it seemed to leave in her life. She'd grown so used to it that now her life felt lacking without it.

Sure… it'd been dangerous and she could've died at any minute, but she'd grown accustomed to it. It wasn't like she missed actively being two steps away from death, but she missed it on some level. The whole nearly dying several times she could've done without, sure, but that was beside the point.

Now that her life was returning to normal, the gap in between only seemed that much more noticeable. To go from centering her life around it, to suddenly being without such a presence… it was hard to adjust. Above all else, it just seemed so… boring now.

There was a lot she was able to adjust and adapt to, but this- all of it- felt just a smidge out of her frame of grasp. This had been the last thing she expected to come out of this meeting, and yet…

This was entirely serious. It was no joke. Even though she knew that, a part of her still wanted to laugh and treat it as if it was. After all, how else was she supposed to take it?

"This can't be serious," Kagome stated, crossing her legs as she sat up a bit straighter. "I mean…" she shook her head, brushing a lock of hair back behind her ear to keep it from falling in her face. "Why is it just you having this conversation with me?" she stated. Though phrased as if it were a question, there was no mistaking the underlying tone. She wasn't simply asking. "I can feel the others here, you know…" Her voice got lower, fully intending to keep that facet between just the two of them.

"But it is," Sesshomaru countered, matching her posture from across from her. Gold eyes held her bright blue. Though it'd been centuries since the last time he'd been opposite of her, it was nothing more than a few months- enough to count on one hand and still have room to spare. Despite that, he could tell very easily just how much she'd grown in their absence from one another. Months for her, yet the progress she'd made should've taken years… "It was decided that I'd be best suited to talk with you given our history." That, and it wouldn't be a good look if the other one got on her nerves, too. As it was, Ego was already on his bad side not even twenty minutes into their meeting. He knew the fiery miko, and he was confident Ego would manage to set her off even worse than he'd done to him.

The path in which that would be avoided was surely the ideal path to take.

"Decided, huh?" Kagome repeated, leaning to rest her head on her hand, arm braced on the armrest of the chair she sat in. She knew there was more than he was letting on by his aura alone, but he was also right to some level. Their past was extensive, so if it was deemed this way, then who was she to doubt it? After a moment, she sighed and closed her eyes. "I don't get it though…" she muttered. "This, you, me… it's all a little strange, no?"

For her it definitely was. She wasn't particularly interested in playing soccer. In fact, the only experience she had with the sport was when she played with Souta and his friends in the park.

What made her so special? Well, special enough to be counted in this little experiment.

"I suggested it," Sesshomaru stated. "I suggested your presence as my one guideline." Kagome caught his stare, sapphire eyes focusing on his stoic face. He never was one to showcase his emotions, and reading his aura did very little, if anything at all, to help her gauge him. "They have no choice other than to adapt and comply to that demand."

Well, that explained it a little, but not the part that she was more confused by.

"They want to present a challenge, so, with you, I am enforcing my own," Sesshomaru continued. His voice didn't break his usual monotone drawl as he kept those cold, gold eyes fixed on her expression, watching for any shift he could pick out. Impassive, just like a living statue. "In the form of you," he clarified.

"So I'm meant to be an obstacle?" she asked. Sesshomaru nodded.

"In a way, yes," he stated. "No one can even dream of surpassing someone with senses like yours. Not without building intelligence and physical will." He caught her stare, tiling his head in her direction with a flicker of consideration flashing through his eyes. "Or, should you so choose, take the spot for yourself. Really, that decision is your own to make. I don't care either way for what choice you make," he stated.

"And what if I say no?" she asked. Her voice didn't convey any emotion. In a way, it was something she'd learned and picked up from him. She knew he could place that much. "What happens if I turn down this entire thing and go home, pretending this conversation never happened?"

"Nothing that impedes me," he stated in an automatic response. His nonchalant tone spoke to just how little he was fazed. "I will merely pull out of this deal and the entire project will fall flat without my funding."

In a way, he was stating that without her, it wouldn't happen. If they wanted it so badly, then she was a necessity that he refused to bargain on.

Meaning she had to be won over.

"So, I'm the deciding factor here?" she asked. It came out as a question, but it was much more of an observation. Sesshomaru nodded in response, steepling his hands together in wait for her decision.

He would remain unfazed by either outcome. Either she agreed and he got what he wanted, or she disagreed and he let the other half of his deal fall flat. The only ones who really relied on this was the other party. She wished she could be surprised, but really, she just wasn't. This was exactly what she'd figured he'd be up for.

"I don't care what choice you make," he stated. "So don't let that impact your answer."

"Oh, don't worry, I wasn't gonna," she responded swiftly. He glanced at her and she sent him a smile, lifting her hand to twinkle her fingers in a wave. "Sure, I'll do it."

Her answer seemed to catch him off guard. She could feel it in his aura, even as his expression remained impassive and cold.

"Oh? Is that so?" he responded. "What made you come to your decision?"

Oh, well at least he wasn't too haughty to avoid directly asking. It seemed his personality was improving, no matter how little it was.

"Well, to be honest about it, I guess I'm a little bored," she stated. She was, in fact, very bored. Without the chaos of dealing with demons and time traveling, it felt like her life had gone stagnant. Something like this seemed interesting, at least on a surface level for her. "Dunno what I really want out of it yet, but I'm sure I'll figure it out as I go on with it." That much she could say.

Did she want to merely play the role of opposition to these budding athletes, or did she want to aim for something more? Only time would answer that for her. Good thing she was patient. At the very least, she was confident in her abilities to do both simultaneously.

"Good," Sesshomaru stated. He rose to his feet, motioning for her to do the same. "You'll surely make for an interesting opponent to these men."

That part caught her attention. She glanced up at him, cocking her head to the side. "Wait… just men?" she asked. Sesshomaru cut his gaze down to look at her, seeming to gauge her expression. "Am… I going to be the only girl there?"

"Is it a problem if you are?" was the only response he gave. Kagome pursed her lips in a mild pout.

"Well… no, but…-"

"Do you think it matters if you're a girl?" The door opened, and Kagome instantly swapped her attention to the new figure. He was tall and lanky, wearing dark-rimmed glasses. She felt ire enter Sesshomaru's aura, and she had to compose herself from laughing when she realized the demon didn't seem to like him. "If you're great, then you're great," he continued, looking at her. "That's all that matters here."

"I see," Kagome responded, clasping her hands behind her as she nodded. A second later, she glanced at Sesshomaru. "So, I have your approval to go all out, correct?" she asked. "Don't gotta hold back against them?"

"Do what you feel is necessary," he stated in a flat, monotone response, and Kagome nodded in response. That was as much of a greenlight as she'd need.

"Then I think this might be fun," she stated. A faint smile appeared on her face.

At the very least, it'd be some form of entertainment. She knew that Sesshomaru was on the same exact page as she was with it.

Auroua-chan: Gonna end this chapter here.

The pairing is undecided. Suggestions are more than welcome. I'd prefer an x-over pair, even if I'm biased to SessKag.

Kagome's been enlisted as an obstacle to the participants of Blue Lock, not that any of them will know it. To them, she's just another competitor. Though, with her senses, she's sure to be far more advanced than the majority of them.

It's been a few months since the well sealed up for Kagome, (roughly ~3) so her current age is 16.

Anyway, that's it for now! Thank you all for reading and I hope you all enjoyed. Hopefully I caught all the errors before posting, but if not sorry.

Please remember to Review, Favorite, and Follow, thank you!

Bye for now~
