Chapter 1
"Wow, sis! I caught so many butterflies today!" Sota smiled. He giggled with delight as he counted the butterflies in his jar.
"I can't wait to show Mom and Grandpa how many butterflies I've caught!" Sota let out.
Kagome smiled, happy to see her brother enjoying himself.
"I'm sure they'll be impressed. You did a great job, bud!" Kagome says.
Sota beamed with pride at his sister's words.
"Thanks, sis! You're a great butterfly-catching partner. We make a great team!" Sota says.
Kagome chuckled and ruffled Sota's hair.
"That we do, little brother. Let's keep going! There must be more butterflies hiding around here somewhere." Kagome says.
Sota nodded eagerly, his eyes scanning the area for any sign of flapping wings.
"You're right! Let's keep searching. I want to catch as many butterflies as we can before the sun sets!" Sota replied.
Sota nodded eagerly, his eyes scanning the area for any sign of flapping wings.
Kagome agreed and they continued their hunt, searching the fields and meadows for the colorful insects.
"Let's be careful not to disturb their habitats though, remember? We want to respect nature." Kagome said.
Sota nodded, looking a little bit sheepish.
"Yeah, you're right, sis. We don't wanna hurt the butterflies or mess up their homes. I'll be more careful from now on." Sota says.
Kagome smiled, pleased with her brother's understanding.
"That's the spirit! We can still have fun and respect the butterflies at the same time. I'm sure we'll find plenty to catch soon." Kagome said.
Encouraged by his sister's words, Sota continued to search the area carefully, gently and respectfully handling each butterfly he caught.
"I hope we find lots more butterflies. They're so pretty and colorful!" Sota said.
Kagome nodded, agreeing with her brother's enthusiasm.
"I know, they're like nature's little flying jewels. And each one is unique, with its own pattern and color. It's amazing, isn't it?" Kagome said.
Sota looked at the butterflies in his jar, admiring their wings and bodies.
"Yeah, they're so cool! I can't believe how many different kinds there are. It's like a little butterfly rainbow!" Sota said.
Seeing the butterfly land on the sacred-looking tree, Kagome's curiosity was piqued. She slowly walked closer to the tree, admiring the delicate creature perched on its bark.
Kagome looked closely at the tree, noticing the various markings and carvings on its surface.
"This tree looks really old and significant. I wonder if it's sacred or something.." Kagome said.
As if to answer her question, the butterfly suddenly fluttered its wings, causing a few white petals to float down from the tree's branches. Kagome's eyes widened in awe as she looked at the petal falling gently to the ground.
Sota, trailing behind his older sister, noticed the petals fluttering from the tree.
"Whoa, look at that! Those petals are so beautiful!" Sota says.
Kagome nodded, her gaze still fixed on the falling petals.
"They're like little snowflakes.. This tree must be really special to be shedding such delicate and beautiful petals.." Kagome said.
Sota looked up at the tree, his eyes wide with wonder.
"Do you think it's magic? Like in those fairy tales you used to tell me?" Sota asks.
Kagome chuckled softly, amused by her little brother's imagination.
"Well, maybe not magic in the sense of spells and witches. But this tree definitely has a special presence. It's making me feel... calm and happy." Kagome says.
Sota nodded, feeling the peaceful energy of the tree as well. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, absorbing the serene atmosphere.
"Yeah, I feel it too. It's like the tree is sending out a positive vibe or something." Sota said.
Suddenly, Kagome looked up at the sky, surprised by the sudden change in weather.
"Oh wow, it's starting to rain. And quite heavily, too.." Kagome spoke.
Sota looked up too, a bit disappointed.
Aww, I hope it doesn't rain too much. We were having so much fun catching butterflies..."
Kagome shook off the raindrops from her hair as she and Sota ducked into the shed, seeking shelter from the rain.
"Whew, that rain came on fast. It's really coming down now." Kagome says.
Sota looked outside at the rain, a bit miffed.
"Yeah, we were having so much fun catching butterflies. Now we're stuck in here because of the rain." Sota said.
Kagome nodded, understanding her brother's disappointment.
"I know, it's a shame we had to cut our butterfly hunt short. But at least we're dry in here. We can wait out the rain and then we can go back outside when it stops." Kagome said.
Kagome noticed a well behind them, that peeked her interest. She tries to get Sota to safety first before trying anything.
Kagome turned to Sota, her mind racing with curiosity and a hint of determination. She spoke firmly but gently.
"Sota, I need you to head back inside the house, okay? I want to check something out real quick. The well that is behind us. You go on ahead and wait for me inside the house, okay?" Kagome said.
Sota looked at his sister, a hint of worry in his eyes. He wasn't entirely convinced that it was a good idea for her to check out the well on her own.
"But... what if something happens to you? I don't want you to go by yourself. Can't I come with you?" Sota asks.
"I will be fine, And I can handle myself," Kagome says.
Sota still looked a bit concerned, but he reluctantly nodded.
"Please, Sota." Kagome begged politely.
"Alright, I trust you. But please be careful, okay? And come back soon." Sota said.
Kagome hugged her little brother tightly, grateful for his trust and understanding. She gave him a warm smile as they let go.
"Thank you, Sota. I promise I'll be careful. Don't worry, I'll be back before you know it. Now go on inside, okay?" Kagome said politely.
Sota nodded, still a bit concerned but willing to do as his sister asked.
"Okay, I'll go inside. But hurry back, okay? I don't like the idea of you being out there all alone." Sota says.
Kagome chuckled softly, touched by her brother's concern.
"I will, I promise. And you know I always keep my promises. Now go on, I'll see you in a bit." Kagome says.
Kagome held out a hand to stop her brother, suddenly remembering something important.
"Wait, Sota. Before you go, there's something you need to tell mom and grandpa. I need you to tell them that I'm studying at a friend's house. That should keep them from worrying when they discover I'm gone, okay?" Kagome says.
Sota looked at his sister, a bit confused but willing to help.
"Okay, I'll tell them that you're studying at a friend's house. But what if they ask who the friend is?" Sota said.
Kagome thought for a moment, trying to come up with a believable cover story. She then remembered her three best friends, Eri, Yuka, and Ayumi. That would be the perfect alibi.
"Good thinking, Sota. If they ask who my friend's are, just tell them I'm staying over at Eri's house with Yuki, and Ayumi tonight and we're studying together. They should buy that." Kagome said.
Sota nodded, committing the information to memory.
"Got it, I'll tell them you're at Eri's house studying. But what are you really going to be doing? Is it something secret?" Sota said.
Kagome knew that they couldn't linger for too long, or their mom would get suspicious. She gave her brother a firm yet gentle push.
"Hurry, Sota! Go on inside and tell mom and grandpa about my supposed study date with the girls. I'll be back shortly." Kagome said.
Sota nodded again, his expression a mix of concern and understanding.
"Okay, I'll go tell them about your fake study date at your friend's house. Just... be careful, okay?" Sota said.
Kagome gave her brother a reassuring smile.
"Don't worry, I will. I promise I'll be fine. Now go on, before mom comes looking for us." Kagome said.
Sota nodded once more, and with a lingering look of concern, he turned and headed back towards the house to relay the message to their parents.
Kagome watched as her brother ran into the rain and went into the house, then turned her attention back to the well. She took a deep breath, steeling herself for whatever awaited her down there.
Kagome carefully climbed down the ladder, her heart racing with anticipation. When she finally reached the bottom and landed with a soft thud on her butt, she quickly looked around to take in her surroundings.
As Kagome continued to look around, she suddenly felt a strange sensation within her. It was as if something was happening to her body, but she couldn't quite figure out what it was. Her vision began to blur slightly, and her head started to feel dizzy. She felt a bit disoriented as she tried to focus on the source of the light.
As the light enveloped her, Kagome suddenly felt a sensation of being transported, as if she was being jerked from one reality to another.
The next thing Kagome knew, she found herself in a completely different time and place - feudal Japan.
Kagome looked around in disbelief, her mind struggling to comprehend the sudden change in her surroundings. It was as if she had stepped through a portal into another world entirely. She turned in all directions, trying to make sense of the unfamiliar landscape around her.
"What on earth...? Where am I...?" Kagome says.
Kagome stumbled forward a few steps, trying to steady herself. She rubbed her eyes, wondering if she was dreaming or hallucinating. This couldn't be real, could it? Was she really transported to feudal Japan of all places?
