Chapter 5 A Wish Come True

As Jiminy Cricket and Marietta were in the middle of talking, a blue light began to shine from the nearby window, and made the both of them very confused.

"Now what's up?" Jiminy asked in annoyment.

The two looked out the window to see a bright blue light come closer to them.

Marietta started to become terrified and ran away as the light came closer to her.

"Hey, what's going on here?!" Jiminy asked as he hopped away from the end of the violin and into a pot.

The light then made it's way into the room, and revealed itself to be a beautiful blue fairy all dressed in blue.

The fairy smiled as she looked around the room, and Marietta looked up a bit from her hiding place to see the fairy.

"A fairy?" she whispered to herself, hidding behind the end of her bed.

Jiminy looked out of the pot to see the fairy as well and couldn't believe how beautiful she looked. "As I live and breath. A fairy! Mmmm-mmm!" he said very flirtatiously.

The fairy then saw Marietta hiding behind the side of her bed and smiled as she came closer to her.

"Do not worry, little Marietta, there is nothing to fear. I have heard Geppetto's wish, as well as your own," she said as Marietta stood up to face her.

"Who-who are you?" she asked as the fairy smiled.

"I am the Blue Fairy, and I am here to grant Geppetto's wish as well as your own." the fairy inquired, making Marietta surprised.

"Really?" she asked as the fairy nodded her head.

"Yes. Years ago, I helped your father Carlo get together with your mother Arabella, and tonight, it is your turn to have your wish come true." she said as Marietta looked at her in shock.

The Blue Fairy then walked over to Geppetto's bed, who was still fast asleep with his cat Figaro, who didn't notice the fairy come in.

"Good Geppetto, you have given so much happiness to others, that you deserve to have your wish come true."

She then walked over to the table with Pinocchio on it.

"Little puppet made of pain, wake, the gift of life is thine." she said as she tapped the puppet on his head with her wand.

The puppet then started to blink, and rubbed his eyes as he started to move.

"What?" Marietta asked as she saw her little puppet friend move for the first time.

"What they can't do these days," Jiminy said to himself as he watched the puppet come to life from above.

"I can move," Pinocchio said as he moved around his hands.

"I can talk," he said after he covered his mouth and the Blue Fairy chuckled.

"I can walk!" Pinocchio said as he stood up to walk, but fell down after just being born a minute ago after all!

Marietta looked at her little puppet friend in shock, and couldn't believe he was alive and moving. Just what Geppetto wanted!

"Yes Pinocchio, I have given you life," the Blue Fairy told him.

"Why?" asked Pinocchio.

"Because tonight, Geppetto has wished for a real boy."

"Am I a real boy?" Pinocchio asked.

Jiminy came a little closer to take a better look at Pinocchio.

"No, Pinocchio. To make Geppetto's wish come true, will be entirely up to you, as well as Marietta." the Blue Fairy told him.

"Up to me? And what's a Marietta?" Pinocchio asked as Marietta giggled.

"That's me," she said as she stepped closer to the table the puppet was sitting on. "I'm Marietta, and since you're alive now, I guess I'm kind of like your big sister."

Pinocchio smiled at her. "A big sister? What's that?" he asked as Marietta giggled again.

"We'll talk about it later, but first, let the Blue Fairy tell you what you need to do to become a real boy." Marietta insisted.

"Thank you, Marietta," the Blue Fairy said as she turned back to Pinocchio. "Prove yourself brave, truthful, and unselfish, and someday, you will be a real boy."

"A real boy?" Pinocchio asked in excitement.

"Yes! That would be wonderful! I always wanted a little brother!" Marietta exclaimed.

"And what does that mean?" Pinocchio asked, causing Marietta and the Blue Fairy to smile at him.

"That'll be easy," Jiminy said from watching above the shelf.

"You must learn to choose between right and wrong," the Blue Fairy instructed Pinocchio.

"Right and wrong? But how will I know?" Pinocchio asked.

Jiminy became annoyed from above. "How will I know?" The cricket mocked to himself.

"You'll understand it later," Marietta told him.

"Yes, and your conscience will tell you" the Blue Fairy said as Jiminy smiled to himself from above.

"What are conscience?" Pinocchio asked.

Jiminy became shocked. "What's a conscience?"

The cricket then jumped off the shelf, and flew down with the help of his umbrella.

"Your conscience is…"

"I'll tell ya!" Jiminy interrupted Marietta as he flew down with his umbrella. "A conscience is that still small voice in your head that most people won't listen to. That's just the trouble with the world today." Jiminy explained to Pinocchio as he flew down on a box of matches.

"Are you my conscience?" Pinocchio asked with a wide smile.

"Who? Me?" Jiminy asked as Marietta giggled.

"No silly, that's a cricket! It's a kind of bug," Marietta told Pinocchio.

"Would you like to be Pinocchio's conscience?" the Blue Fairy asked as she leaned over to Jiminy and gave him a wide smile.

"Well, I, uh, um, I…uh-huh" Jiminy blushed as the Blue Fairy chuckled.

"Very well, but what is your name?"

"Oh uh, cricket's the name, Jiminy Cricket." Jiminy answered as he took off his hat.

"Kneel mister cricket," the Blue Fairy told him, making Jiminy a bit puzzled.

"Oh uh, okay," he said as he kneeled down. "No tricks now."

The Blue Fairy held up her wand. "I dub you Pinocchio's conscience. Lord high keeper of the knowledge of right and wrong, counselor in moments of temptation, and guide among the straight and narrow path. Arise, Sir Jiminy Cricket."

The Blue Fairy tapped Jiminy on the head with her wand, and caused his old, ragged clothes to be turned into brand new ones.

Jiminy stood up to see his umbrella was now burgundy and he wore an orange vest with beige pants, a black jacket, yellow and blue shoes, and a blue top hat with a yellow stripe in the middle of it.

Both Marietta and Pinocchio were impressed by Jiminy's new clothes, and so was he himself, as he was happy to see himself in a much more stylish manner.

"Well!" he said with a chuckle while admiring his new outfit. "My, my! Mmmm say, that's pretty swell"

"You sure do Mister Cricket. You look very handsome in those new clothes," Marietta complemented the cricket.

"Thanks, but uh, don't I get a badge or something?" Jiminy asked the Blue Fairy, who was unsure of what to say.

"Well, we'll see," she said, making Jiminy excited.

"You mean maybe you will?" Jiminy asked with enthusiasm.

"I should wonder," the Blue Fairy told him.

"Make it a gold one?" Jiminy asked as he slapped his fists.

"Maybe," the Blue Fairy said as Jiminy smiled back in excitement.

Marietta was very happy with Geppetto's wish of Pinocchio coming to life, and was also happy for Jiminy being a conscience. But she also wondered about her own wish and if the Blue Fairy would grant it.

"Uh, Blue Fairy? I don't mean to be rude or anything, but what about my wish? You said you could make any wishes come true and I was wondering if you could help make mine," Marietta asked as the Blue Fairy smiled at her.

"Well, Marietta, I may be able to make some things happen, but not every wish is something I can do. If you want your wish to come true, that will be entirely up to you."

"But how? I'm just so shy all the time and I don't know if I'll ever be able to face the stage or take music lessons ever," Marietta doubted.

"But you're talking to me, Pinocchio, and Jiminy Cricket, and you seem to have a good relationship with your uncle," the Blue Fairy said as Marietta turned around to look at the puppet and cricket.

"Yeah, but I'm still super shy when it comes to performing on stage or around other people,"

"Well, Marietta, overcoming your stage fright is something you're going to have to do yourself, as I can not fully grant your wish until you fulfill it yourself. I would also like you to help guide Pinocchio on a straight and right path along with Jiminy, and you must act as a sister figure towards him while being brave, caring, and responsible older sister to Pinocchio in order to fulfill your wish." the Blue Fairy said as Marietta smiled up at her.

"I understand Blue Fairy, but there is something else I would like to ask you, and that is if you know where my father is? I mean, is he actually dead?" Marietta asked as the Blue Fairy smiled and kneeled next to her.

"Marietta my dear, I'm happy to tell you your father is alive, but it is up to you to find him."

"Oh again!" Marietta complained as the Blue Fairy chucked a bit.

"Yes, while I do want you to take care of Pinocchio and work on your own dreams, I would also like you to follow my riddle in order to find your father," the Blue Fairy said as she stepped away from Marietta to explain a riddle.

"Make your loved one's proud, find the sign, you will see the answer in a matter of time." the Blue Fairy said, making Marietta confused.

"Huh? What's my sign?" she asked herself as the Blue Fairy smiled at her.

"You'll find it soon, but first, worry about acting like an older sister figure to Pinocchio, and guide him through right and wrong with the help of Jiminy Cricket." the Blue Fairy instructed her.

"Got it, Blue Fairy," Marietta told her.

Pinocchio was just sitting there smiling at Marietta until the Blue Fairy turned to face him again.

"Now, Pinocchio, be a good boy, and always let your conscience and older sister be your guide," the Blue Fairy said as she stepped back and left in a sparkle of light.

"Goodbye malady!" Jiminy said very flirtatiously.

"Yes, goodbye Blue Fairy!" Marietta said as she waved goodbye to the fairy.

"Goodbye!" Pinocchio said as he waved goodbye as well.

It would now be up to Jiminy Cricket and Marietta to help Pinocchio become a real boy, and even if she was really his cousin, Marietta still needed to learn to be the best sister figure ever to Pinocchio while also helping him stay on the right path.
