Team Bullet Train were seated at a table with Terrorwave and Shockline as the two femmes tried to learn how to open their own energon. Shockline grunted before she smacked her cube down with a pout. Terrorwave also struggling set hers down in a more gentle way before leaning back and crossing her arms.
"I can't believe we're on babysitting duty," RapidRun complained, while moving one of the youngling's cube away from his own. "We should be cruising on the tracks right now or kicking some Predacon tailpipe, not playing nanny to a couple of kids." Sideburn had decided that was a good time to join their table.
"What's got you in such a mood?"
"Nothing. I'm just say-"
"You've got a bad attitude..." The mechs stopped their discussion. Optics wide as they stared down at the purple and blue femme. Terrorwave was staring up at RapidRun. After deciding that she had made a point, she nodded, then picked up her cube to try opening it again. "You should have a snack."
"She's got you there," Railspike piped in. "Alright, Kid. Watch how we do it." Terrorwave and Shockline watched with amazement when Railspike poked his thumb into his own cube with ease. He gave a little twist and with a slight pull, his cube was open enough for him to drink. Midnight Express chuckled before tapping the his cube against the table and pulling the top off.
Shockline giggled and looked between Midnight Express's cube and her own before attempting to give it a good whack. With a quick hand movement, Sideburn grabbed Shockline's energon cube before it could hit the floor and popped it open.
"Look! I did it," Terrorwave cheered. "Did you see, Sideburn?"
"Sure did! You're a natural!" He rubbed his hand over her helm. Railspike watched on with a small smile. The mechs were starting to figure out how to interact with these kids and they were adjusting pretty well, despite a few slip ups here and there. They still need caretakers. Thank Primus for the team meeting tonight. Rapidrun was sitting across from him, Railspike couldn't see the kid's face, but he could tell the mech was thinking deeply about something.
"What do you think, Rapid?"
The white and gold train looked up quickly. His optics had softened somewhat, while he put on an upbeat tone.
"Huh? Oh yeah. Good job." Terrorwave smiled at the change in the train's attitude. "You girls wanna hear a story about some passengers? I've had some odd ones today." The femme younglings nodded their heads quickly. 2 pairs of optics locked in as Rapidrun and Midnight Express switched traded stories, Sideburn had to head to patrol and quietly left the girls in the care of the trains.
Terrorwave and Shockline had finally relaxed that their helms started to relax against Railspike's arms with empty cubes sitting around the table and within a few more minutes, they were asleep.
"-and we still have no clue where the Predacon base is."
After the younglings were put down to recharge, Optimus had gotten through the meeting with as much detail as they could all handle, new patrol routes, scheduling, concerns the teams could have, and anything of importance the Autobot Leader could think of. Eyeing the mechs and T-ai, he folded his arms.
"Now onto the newest business on base. T-ai, have you found the younglings parents or anything about their pasts?" The AI girl floated next to the screen, eyes going glossy, before becoming present again.
"I'm sorry, Optimus. There's not enough information to make an accurate statement."
"Hotshot, anything you or the others can report?"
"Nothing on our end either, I'm afraid," The spychanger announced. As horrible as it is, he was secretly happy they found nothing about the children because he and the others have become attached to the kids. "Since you brought them up, there is something involving the kids that I've been thinking about."
"We've got to say something on that subject as well," Railspike announced.
"Us too," Wedge nodded in approval.
Optimus gestured to the spychanger to continue. Hotshot nodded his thanks.
"I think we've all come to care for the younglings and we all know what can happen to them if they don't get a guardian soon," Although the spychanger's visor was unreadable, a few mechs knew where this was going. "I believe we need to decide tonight who is going to fulfill those roles."
Optimus continued looking between the leaders as Railspike and Wedge nodded in agreement.
"I agree. I've been thinking of that as well. I've been trying to decide who to ask to take on such an important role, especially since this we're already spread so thin."
"Every Autobot knows what this would entail," Railspiike interjected, catching the attention of the build team leader. I've already got experience with Midnight and RapidRun. It shouldn't make any difference. "Whoever takes on that role, won't be doing it alone. I'd like to offer myself."
"The Build Team is ready to accept these duties! We want to do our part for the cause and the children!"
"The spychangers are ready and able. We're all onboard."
"Seeing as how everyone's chomping at the bit," X-brawn started. "We want to take on a little partner of our own. It'd do good for the little ones to be raised by someone with more battle experience. We could offer more safety."
Clenching his servos, the orange build team leader, fired back, "Oh yeah! Well, it's not you guys can keep Sideburn in line!" The eldest Autobot brother made a small gesture to attempt to soothe while making eye contact.
"Hey now. I ain't meant to ruffle your tail feathers. I just thought it mighta been important for the younglings to have someone with experience in wrangling those who are their age."
"I see. I'll take what everyone said into consideration and make a decision in the morning. Until then I want everyone to talk things over with their team. Everything will continue as normal until a decision's been made. Dismissed."
"Yes, Sir!"
