The fusion looks at Robotnik before stumbling back and falling. They look at their feet and then at their hands, eyes widening. "What the…?"

They start touching their own body and tracing their curves in wonder and amazement. They look at their hands, impressed by the size. "... Steven? Fionna?"

Before they could proceed with their line of thought, Robotnik spoke up with a grin. "Well, it seems that you two, somehow, fused with each other." He grins wider. "It will be so much fun to dissect you."

The fusion stares down at their own hands in stunned disbelief, the realization slowly dawning on them. Their voice trembles with a mix of Steven's gruffness and Fionna's light tone, blending into something new and strange. "Fused…? How is that even possible?"

Robotnik watches with a mixture of fascination and cruelty. "Interesting, isn't it? Two lives, two minds... merging into one. I can only imagine the sheer potential packed into that body of yours." He presses a button on his control panel, activating more drones to surround the fusion. "But I doubt you've got a handle on it yet. So why don't I take you apart and find out?"

The fusion gets stumbling. When it finally finds its own balance, they stare at Robotnik with narrowed eyes. "You won't take us anywhere, Egghead."

Robotnik shrugs. "So be it." He presses some buttons and launches missiles and bullets at the fusion.

Suddenly, everything seems slowed down to the fusion. In their vision, they see the possibilities they have to dodge, like some kind of simulation. The fusion looks amazed and decides to mimic one of those 'dodge visions'.

They twist and sidestep, weaving through the onslaught with a newfound agility, their actions almost choreographed by the "dodge visions" flickering in their mind. The missiles explode harmlessly behind them, sending shockwaves rippling through the air, but the fusion remains untouched, their movements a blur to anyone watching.

The fusion pulls Steven's axes from their horn and slash towards the airship. Robotnik manages to dodge, but suddenly the energy slash makes a sudden change of trajectory, hitting Robotnik's airship.

The energy slash strikes the airship with a force that rattles the entire craft, sending sparks flying from the hull. Robotnik, caught off guard, grits his teeth as he steadies himself in the cockpit. The forcefield flickers momentarily before reactivating, but the damage is done, the airship lurches, and several of the drones spiral out of control, plummeting toward the ground in a fiery descent.

The fusion grins and starts slashing towards Robotnik. Each energy slash strikes the airship and damages it more and more.

The fusion, now fully embracing their newfound strength, presses forward with a ferocity that surprises even them. The air hums with the crackling energy of their strikes, and the airship begins to groan under the pressure. Sparks fly, metal groans, and Robotnik's once smooth control of the situation now slips away with every blow the fusion delivers.

"Stop! STOP!" Robotnik howls, furiously pressing buttons to regain control, but the fusion's strikes are relentless. With every slash, a part of the airship crumbles, the forcefield struggling to maintain its integrity as the damage mounts.

A large explosion erupts from the side of the ship, and a portion of the hull tears open, sending a burst of fire and smoke into the air. The drones that were still intact panic and scatter, their coordination faltering in the wake of the chaos.

In the midst of this, the fusion's movements become more fluid, the fusion of Steven's combat experience and Fionna's quick thinking manifesting in a seamless dance. They leap into the air with a graceful spin, sending another wave of energy slashes toward Robotnik's vulnerable cockpit.

"NO!" Robotnik shouts, panic rising in his voice as the cockpit begins to shudder. The fusion's strike hits with pinpoint accuracy, sending a massive energy surge into the heart of the airship's systems. The ship groans, its engines sputtering, and alarms blare throughout the craft.

"I told you, Egghead," the fusion says, their voice now a confident, determined blend of Steven and Fionna's tones. "You've overstayed your welcome." They launch a last charged attack at the airship.

Robotnik's face twists with rage as he scrambles for an escape route. He presses a button and activates an emergency eject system, his cockpit suddenly detaching from the main ship and soaring into the sky on a separate, sleek craft. When the charged attack hits the airship, it explodes in a black pulse that disables every drone around and even turns the lights of the streets off.

The fusion lands on their feet. They take a breath, wiping the sweat from their brow, before glancing at the G.U.N agents, who are cautiously watching the aftermath. The agents are still recovering from the shock of what just happened. One of the agents, still reeling, speaks up, his voice hesitant.

"Is… is that really Steven and Fionna?"

The fusion turns to face the agents, their expression unreadable, but their posture confident. "No… this… this feels different..." They look away. "Steven… Fionna… Stionna …?"

Stionna shakes their head and looks to Robotnik who's trying to escape. They prepare and leap, grabbing Robotnik's by the collar. Before the doctor could say anything, Stionna throws

Stionna's grip tightens around Robotnik's collar, their strength far surpassing anything Steven or Fionna could muster alone. With a single powerful motion, they fling him down to the ground below, sending him tumbling across the pavement.

Robotnik groans, coughing as he struggles to get to his feet, his usual smug expression twisted into one of panic. "You... you freak!" he stammers, glancing back at the smoldering remains of his airship. "I'll make you pay for this!"

Stionna steps closer, their gaze steady and fierce. "Pay for what? You tried to control us. To hurt everyone around us. But now…" They look down at their own hands, clenching them into fists as they realize the depth of their newfound power. " We're stronger than you ."

They grip on Robotnik and throw him away. He lands on his back but quickly gets up. He runs and goes to the transport platform and stands on it.

Stionna says sternly as they walk towards him. "You're going to jail, Egghead."

Robotnik chuckles. "That's where you're wrong, 'Stionna'!" He raises the device with Steven's energy and grins. Stionna widens their eyes and tries to run towards Robotnik, but he activates the transport platform. "Later Hater!"

And he disappears in thin air.

"Damn it…" Stionna mutters, their voice a mix of Steven's gruff tone and Fionna's softer undertones. They clench their fists in frustration, standing in the midst of the smoking battlefield. The remnants of the destroyed airship are smoldering behind them, the drones that once swarmed now scattered and deactivated.

The G.U.N agents, still recovering from the shock of the fusion's immense power, exchange confused glances. They've seen something extraordinary, but also something terrifying. One of them, a seasoned agent with a scar running down his face, cautiously steps forward.

"Is… is he gone?" he asks, his voice cautious yet filled with awe. He points to the empty platform where Robotnik once stood.

Stionna turns toward the agents, their expression unreadable as they process the situation. "I… I don't know. He could be anywhere in the world that has these platforms. He's undetectable now…"

The scarred agent steps closer, his gaze both wary and respectful. "Look… whatever you are, you just saved us, maybe even the entire city. So… thank you." His voice falters slightly, the strangeness of the situation leaving him at a loss for words.

Stionna nods, the blend of Steven's confidence and Fionna's gentleness softening their expression. "I didn't do it for you," they say, their voice laced with a calm resolve. "I did it to protect… everything and everyone that matters to us."

As the agents begin to regroup, securing the area and radioing for reinforcements, Stionna takes a step back, feeling the intensity of their own heartbeat. They try to reconcile the mix of sensations and memories from both Steven and Fionna, a whirlwind of thoughts, emotions, and instincts all swirling within a single mind.

One agent, still shaken, stammers, "What… What are you? Are you Steven? Are you Fionna?"

Stionna's gaze drops for a moment, the question striking a nerve. They hesitate before responding, their voice tinged with a newfound, haunting vulnerability. "I'm… not really sure yet." They press a hand to their chest, feeling the strange pulse of their combined energies. "This… this feels like something new…" Stionna suddenly widens their eyes. "Wait. If I'm the unity of Steven and Fionna, does that mean…"

Before they could proceed the thought, they unfuse, becoming Steven and Fionna again. They stay in an amused shock until Fionna starts laughing. "Oh God… This… THIS WAS SICK!"

Steven looks at her and laughs too, getting up and helping her to do the same. "Yeah! It was dope!"

As the laughter dies down, the agent clears his throat, getting Steven and Fionna's attention. His expression is still tinged with disbelief as he looks between them. "I don't know what we just witnessed, but whatever you two did, it saved us all." He says, choosing his words carefully. "We'd… like to know more about this 'fusion' thing, and about you two."

Steven gets a defensive posture, still trying to process everything. "What?! You guys were trying to capture me since I was 14! You guys were the ones who called Robotnik, and NOW that we had to solve YOUR shits, you guys want US to explain ourselves?"

The agent raises his hands defensively, sensing the tension in Steven's voice. "Hey, I get it. I really do. We've crossed lines, and we were wrong to go after you like that." He pauses, looking at Fionna for a moment before continuing. "But you've got to understand, we had no choice. We're soldiers. It's our job to follow orders, even when it doesn't feel right. But this? This is something different. What we just saw, it's like nothing we've ever encountered before. You guys just saved us all. The city's safe because of you."

Steven rolls his eyes. "And why did you receive orders to capture me?"

The agent shifts uncomfortably, his expression faltering as Steven's sharp question cuts through the tension. He hesitates for a moment before responding, his voice quieter now. "We thought you could know about something we call 'Gem Beasts'."

"Gem Beasts?" Fionna repeats, raising an eyebrow. "Sounds like a whole lot of nonsense to me." She crosses her arms, clearly unimpressed. "You can't just throw words like that around and expect us to believe you."

The agent sighs. " G.U.N , or Gem Understanding Nations is an international initiative that was made to capture the Gem Beasts," He takes his device and opens pictures, showing them to Steven and Fionna. "They are bestial creatures that have Gems on their bodies. When they receive a fatal blow they simply explode in mist leaving only their gem, but after some time, they regenerate. The only way to terminate them for good is-"

"Shattering the gem…" Steven finishes looking straight to the pictures.

The agent nods, his eyes grim as he watches Steven process the information. "Exactly. G.U.N's been trying to track them for years. We've been capturing them to study these creatures and understand what they are them. We believed you might know something about them because of your connection to the Gem Beasts." He pauses for a moment, choosing his next words carefully. "But, what we just saw with that fusion... that's something we didn't expect."

Fionna looks over at Steven, her expression one of skepticism mixed with intrigue. "So you think we're somehow linked to these Gem Beasts? That's why you've been hunting us?" She tilts her head, clearly not buying the explanation right away.

The agent shrugs slightly, his hands still raised in a gesture of peace. "We thought you might have more answers."

Steven takes a second to think and sighs. "7 years of hunting me for nothing. I don't know anything about these 'Gem Creatures'. I only know I was born with this and that I've been running away from you guys since I discovered my powers."

The agent seems to absorb Steven's words, his face a mixture of disbelief and regret. The room grows heavy with the weight of the unspoken truth, the tension between the two parties palpable. Fionna crosses her arms, her brow furrowed as she tries to make sense of it all.

"So all this time…" Fionna starts, her voice laced with a mix of frustration and disbelief, "you guys have been chasing Steven because of this ?" She gestures vaguely at Steven's gem, his powers, and the history they've shared with G.U.N. "And you have no clue about any of it? That's really messed up."

"Look… I get it. I really do," he says, his voice quiet but earnest. "We've made mistakes. We've been chasing ghosts, trying to force answers from people who had no idea what was going on. We thought we were protecting the world… but maybe we were just making things worse. We shouldn't have dragged you into this, and I'm sorry for that."

Steven's glare softens just slightly, though the skepticism remains. He crosses his arms and takes a deep breath. "Y'know, sorry doesn't undo the damage. You've put me through hell for years, and I want compensation."

The agent winces, clearly uncomfortable with the weight of Steven's words. He lowers his hands, his gaze faltering under Steven's sharp eyes. "I know we can't undo the past, but—"

Fionna cuts him off with a laugh, though it's more bitter than amused. "Don't act like a sorry's gonna make it all better. You've been hunting him down like a dog for years, and now you expect us to just 'forgive and forget'? No way."

Steven, his arms still crossed, looks at Fionna for a second, his frustration mixing with an understanding of her point. But then, he turns back to the agent. "But... I'm not gonna lie. You owe me for the years of stress, the danger I've been through. You've got a lot of catching up to do."

The agent, who had been standing with his head down, finally meets Steven's gaze with a quiet seriousness. "You're right. We do owe you, and I can't promise we'll make it right. But what I can promise is that we'll stop chasing you. No more G.U.N. orders. No more hunting. You've shown us today that we were wrong. And that's something we don't take lightly."

Fionna raises an eyebrow. "So, you're just gonna let us go?"

The agent nods, his voice steady but filled with the regret of the past. "Yes. It's over. We've made our mistakes, and we'll do what we can to make things right, if you let us."

There's a long, tense silence as both Steven and Fionna weigh the words. Finally, Steven lets out a deep sigh. "Fine. But don't think that means I'm trusting you anytime soon. You've got a lot of explaining to do."

"I understand," the agent replies, his expression softening slightly. "We'll keep our distance, but we'll be here if you ever need us. And we'll be working to fix the damage we've done, starting with everything we've learned today."

Steven nods. He takes Fionna in his arms and carry her to the transport platform.

[DAYS LATER]

Fionna is coming from her class and waits for Steven to arrive. Suddenly, from the sky, a figure lands on their feet, impressing the students around. He looks at Fionna with a grin. "Hi babe."

She smiles back. "You sure know how to make a dramatic entry, no?"

Steven chuckles. "Can you blame me? I love to impress you."

She laughs softly and nudges him. "Fair. So, café, restaurant, resort…?"

"I was planning to go to that new café. These G.U.N missions are stressful."

"Alright." She grips on his arm. "Fusion?

He grins wider. "Fusion!"

They hug and spin a little while laughing, fusioning themselves into Stionna again. "Oh boy, I love myself."

They chuckle and jump towards the café, both halves of Stionna, Steven and Fionna, enjoying the feeling of not being alone anymore.

They finally found love in each other's arms…

[THE END]

[SOMEWHERE ELSE IN THE UNIVERSE]

A small woman with green skin is analyzing something on a screen.

She left a message. "Peridot Facet-2F5L Cut-5XG, entry 401. We received a powerful gem energy trail. It came from the planet Earth. It's probable to be a Crystal Gem activity. I'm going to go there and check the situation. I'll be taking Jasper Facet-1B4D Cut-1C9T-Beta with us in case of an unexpected encounter."

She makes a diamond symbol with her arms and the screen is turned off. She enters in an arm-shaped ship with a tall, muscular woman.
