Yoshino's POV:

We were all brought up to Fraxinus after Rinne's sealing. Well, everyone except Kurumi, of course. She went off to do her own thing. Regardless, it was suggested by Reine to examine Reine to see if there are any side effects of her becoming a Pure Spirit. What we found was actually surprising.

Apparently, Rinne's seal is actually an enhanced seal, much like my own. We were wondering why that was the case, until it was revealed that Rinne has, in fact, gained the ability to use Pure Reiryoku, just like me. As for how this is possible, Reine and I theorized that, while I was unconscious after creating Rinne's Sephira Crystal, the Spirit of Origin caught wind of it and impressed enough to bless it with her own power. I guess this is what Reine meant when she said she made the finishing touches.

This meant that Rinne now has all the benefits of being able to use Pure Reiryoku, both active and passive. Guess I'm not the Strongest Spirit anymore. Not that I cared about being the strongest, especially since I never was.

What's more important for me, however, was addressing my past with Shido. Based on my memories from Eden, I told him about my true past, and Shido must remember, because he called me Fuyu after I destroyed the first power source. I guess it's time for me to tell him the truth about myself.

After telling Reine to make sure nobody would be able to eavesdrop on us, I called Shido to tell him that we needed to talk alone. So, the two of us move to another room on Fraxinus. "So, what do you want to talk about, Yoshino?" Shido asks nervously.

I take a deep breath, preparing myself for the reveal. "Shido... Do you remember in Eden when you called me 'Fuyu'?" I ask him to start.

"Y-Yeah." He nods. "I didn't know why I called you that at the time, but now that I have all these memories..."

I nod and begin to tell the truth, "The truth is... that was my old name."

"Your... old name?"

"Another question. Do you know about reincarnation?"

"Isn't that when a person dies and is reborn as someone else?"

I nod. "That's the norm for reincarnation, but in some cases, that person's soul instead merges with another who's still alive." I place a hand on my chest. "I am an example of that outcome."

Shido's eyes widen. "Yoshino... you're..."

"My name is Fuyu Hana. Before, I was an ordinary high school girl who was also kind of an otaku for games and anime." I reveal. "In fact, this entire world actually originated from a manga that adapted into an anime from my world called "Date A Live"."

As I expected, Shido was shocked. "So then... we're all just fictional character where you're from?"

I sigh. "Truthfully, yes, but I do not see you like that. After all, this world is my home now, since I died in the old one."

"How did you die?"

"Do you remember when I told you how I, or rather, Yoshino nearly died to an illness before the Spirit of Origin saved her?" Shido nods. "I was in the exact same situation as her, except, well, I actually died. Then, a God found my soul and decided to reincarnate me in this world, merging my soul with Yoshino Himekawa, effectively having me take over her body."

Shido remains silent as he takes everything in. "Then, what happened to Yoshino?"

"She... She's still there. I actually met her twice, both times when I was unconscious in Eden." I look down on the floor, fists clenching as I remember my encounters with Yoshino. "Even though I basically took her second chance at life, she forgave me. She was actually happy that I got to live in her place." I close my eyes tightly. "I'm sorry... that you'll never get the chance to meet such a kind girl."

I struggle to hold in my tears as my guilt once again returns to me at the reminder. I thought I had gotten over them, but... I guess not.

So caught up with my own feelings, I didn't hear Shido walk up to me. However, I did feel embrace me, which makes open my eyes and look at him. "Shido...?"

"It's okay." He says, making me gasp. "I know that you feel guilty about it, but if Yoshino is fine with you living in her place, then there's no need to be." He parts from the hug and looks at me with a smile. "Besides, this doesn't change how I feel about you. Yoshino, Fuyu, it doesn't matter to me what your name is. You're the one who saved me, Kotori and Origami during the Tengu Fire. You're the one who defeated DEM's strongest Wizard and became known as the Strongest Spirit. You're the one who made it so that Rinne could stay with us, something I can't thank you enough for. And most of all... while I do love the other girls... you're the one I love the most."

My eyes widen at the confession. He loves... me? Even though Tohka was the first girl he dated... even after everything I told him... he chose me as his number one?

"Shido..." I could only say his name as the tears I've been holding back begin to form from how happy I feel.

Shido smiles lovingly, using one hand to wipe my tears, and then moves his head closer, kissing me on the lips. My eyes close as I happily return his love, wrapping my arms around his head to pull him deeper into the kiss. I feel all my guilt and worries wash away as the kiss went on, pushed out by the overflowing happiness in my heart at this moment. I moan lightly in surprise when I feel his tongue enter my mouth. I never expected Shido to make this move, but I'm eager to return the favor as our tongues dance.

Eventually, the need for air became too much and we part from the kiss, a thin trail of saliva keeping us connected for a brief moment as we stare into each other's eyes. "Shido... I love you, too." I speak after regaining my breath. "I promise... I'm going to give everyone the happy ending they deserve. I made this promise to Yoshino, and now... I'm making this promise to you."

Shido smiles. "And I promise that I'll help you out any way that I can."

I smile back and hug Shido, who returns it. Knowing that Shido, who I've grown to truly love, accepts me despite my true origins and supports me has taken a huge load off my shoulders.

With this, I can confidently move forward into the future.

"By the way, Shido." I speak up. "While I am happy to be your main girl, make sure to save some of that love for the other girls."

Shido smiles. "Of course. I won't deny their feelings, and not just because it's kinda my job." I giggle in response.

Tohka's POV:

As I lay down on my bed tonight, I think about everything that has happened in Eden. It was so much that it's hard to wrap my head around it all, but... I know that there was a time that I married Shido.

Marrying Shido... Hehe, just thinking about it makes me feel happy.

I'm also happy that Rinne can stay with us. Even though she was the one who trapped us in Eden, she was still trying to make Shido happy, even if her way of doing it was wrong. But, I still consider her a good friend.

Still... hearing that Rinne was a Spirit born from Reiryoku gaining its own will... that meant she didn't have a human past before then.

Kotori was human until five years ago when she accidently caused the Tengu Fire, we all actually saw Origami become a Spirit right in front of us, and Yoshino and Kurumi were actually alive before the Spirit of Origin appeared.

I'm the only one in the group who doesn't remember their past, and that frustrates me.

But... maybe Yoshino might know. She knows a lot of things. That's why Kotori made her a second Commander.

Maybe she can tell me the truth about who I really am...

Shido's POV:

Today, I'm going on a date with Tohka right now. Origami said that she was looking a little down, most likely thinking about what happened in Eden. I wondered what it could be, until Rinne reminded me that in the route where I pursued a relationship with Tohka, she and I made our vows to each other.

Which translates to us getting married.

Everyone still has their memories from Eden, including Tohka, which could affect our relationship moving forward, so Kotori told me to go on a date with her to talk things out.

We decide to head over to the bakery to buy some kinako bread. It's Tohka's favorite food, so maybe it'll help ease her into the conversation.

Except...

"She's barely finished her first kinako bread." Kotori reports. Considering Tohka's appetite, I bought a about half-a-dozen pieces of kinako bread, but Tohka's eating them slower than normal as she just finished her first one.

"Wow. Is it bothering her that much?" Yoshinon asks.

Feeling worried for Tohka, I decide to speak up. "Tohka, are you feeling alright?" I ask as Tohka starts eating her second kinako bread. "I know what happened back in Eden was important to you. It is to me, too. All the love and happiness we shared together, it still felt real to me." Tohka finishes taking another bite. "If you want to talk about it, I'm right here for you."

"...It's not that." The reply she gives was not what I was expecting. "I mean, I would love to talk about our... marriage..." She blushes when she said that word, "but that's not what I'm thinking about right now."

I take a moment to try and figure out what Tohka could actually be thinking about, and one subject quickly comes to mind. "Is it about your past?"

Tohka nods. "Before Rinne, Yoshino said that all of today's Spirits expect the Spirit of Origin and one other used to be human. Yoshino remembers her past as a human, and so do Kotori and Origami, and I'm sure Kurumi also remembers hers." Tohka stares down at her kinako bread. "Everyone knows their pasts... except me. Even Rinne knows her past, even though she was never human to begin with."

I guess I can understand why Tohka's upset about that. "Don't worry, Tohka. I'm sure we'll find something linked to your past." I try to assure her.

"...Yoshino."

"Huh?"

"Yoshino has been around for longer than the rest of us. She knows a lot of things about the Spirits." She looks at me hopefully. "Do you think... she might know about my past?"

My eyes widen at Tohka's question. She's right! Chronologically, Yoshino is the Third Spirit, meaning she's been around before Kotori and Origami became Spirits. Couple that with what I learned yesterday, about her being a reincarnated soul with tons of knowledge about our world... she definitely knows about Tohka's origins!

"I suppose it was only a matter of time." I hear Yoshino say. "Finish your date first, then come to the Spirit Mansion. I'll tell everyone the truth about Tohka."

I nod and focus back on Tohka. "Let's finish our date. Once we head back home, Yoshino says she'll tell us what she knows." I tell her, and she gives a serious nod.

Third POV:

Shido and Tohka stand in front of the door to the Spirit Mansion, a feeling of nervousness washing over them. They are about to learn the truth about Tohka, something that was a big deal for the Spirit of Malkuth. Shido looks over at Tohka and sees the nervousness on her face. Holding her hand, he locks eyes with her, giving an unspoken message that he'll be there no matter what they learn.

With a nod, the two open the door and enter the mansion, where they see Yoshino, Kotori, Origami, Rinne, Miyoi and Reine gathered in the living room. "You're both here." The Water Spirit greets them with a serious expression.

The two walk up to the group, with Tohka staring at Yoshino. "Yoshino, do you really know about my past?" She asks.

Yoshino nods. "Yes, Tohka. I do know about your origins."

"Then please, tell me. I need to know who I am. Was I also human like you, Kotori and Origami, or am I the one that's more similar to the Spirit of Origin?"

Yoshino closes her eyes, giving a sigh before speaking once again. "To start with, you all know about how the Sephira Crystals were made, correct?"

"Yeah." Shido nods. "The Spirit of Origin made them by focusing her emotions into each of the crystals. This not only determined their color, but how toxic their power is to start."

"And the reason I tend to lose control of my powers is because my crystal wasn't fully refined before I got it." Kotori adds, sounding miffed that the reason her powers are unstable is because her crystal is unfinished.

Yoshino nods. "That's right. The Spirit of Origin had to refine the crystals multiple times before handing them out. However, at some point, she decided to experiment. She wanted to see what would happen if she created a Sephira Crystal using the purest emotion she could muster: her love."

"Love." Shido repeats, his eyes widening. "If she felt love, then... that means she had to have fallen in love with someone. Is that why I have to make the Spirits fall in love with me to seal them?"

"It does sound like quite the coincidence." Reine agrees with the [Sealer].

Yoshino decides to continue the story. "Yes, well, she decided to create another Sephira Crystal using her love, separating the "poison" that could harm humans into a place inside the crystal. Not only did this result in a Sephira Crystal that was purer than most, but it also resulted in the crystal itself gaining its own will."

Everyone's eyes widen except for Reine. "The crystal became sentient?!" Origami gasps.

"That would mean that the Spirit it is tied to is actually a Pure Spirit." Rinne realizes.

"Yes." Yoshino nods, before glancing at Tohka. "And the Angel tied to that crystal... is Sandalphon."

Tohka gasps, knowing that Sandalphon is her Angel. "Then... that means... I'm..." She struggles to speak.

Yoshino nods. "Yes, Tohka. Just like the Spirit of Origin, and now Rinne... you are a Pure Spirit."

A stunned silence fills the room as the big reveal hits the group. Eventually, the silence breaks as Shido speaks first. "Tohka's... a Pure Spirit?" He repeats in disbelief. "So then... she never had a human past, or even a family?"

Yoshino shakes her head. "Outside of fighting the AST before you sealed her, she never had a past to call her own. As for family... since she's a Sephira Crystal gaining its own conscience, you could say that the Spirit of Origin is her mother, being the one who created all of our crystals. If you want, you could even call Tohka and Rinne sisters, since they're both Pure Spirits."

"Sisters... Me and Tohka-chan..." Rinne whispers. The thought surprised her, but she doesn't find it too weird.

Shido, shocked by what he's heard, looks over at Tohka, who is looking down silently, her hair covering her eyes. "A-Are you alright, Tohka?" He asks nervously.

"I... I don't know." Tohka whispers. "I did ask for this... I wanted to know the truth about myself... But, knowing now that I was never human like the rest of you... I don't know who I am anymore..." Her voice trembled halfway through speaking, showing just how much this affects her.

"You are Tohka Yatogami." Yoshino states, getting Tohka's attention. "Whether or not you were human to begin with doesn't matter to us. You are our friend, and nothing will ever change that."

"That's right." Origami nods in agreement. "Pure Spirit or not, you'll always be our friend, Tohka-chan!"

"It is surprising that you are the daughter of the Spirit of Origin." Kotori admits, before smirking. "But Ratatoskr's goal is to help all Spirits live peaceful lives, and you are no exception, Tohka."

"I'm actually happy to know that Tohka-chan and I are so similar." Rinne smiles. "Plus, I like the idea of the two of us being sisters."

Tohka looks at her friends, surprised by their acceptance, and then she lightly gasps when Shido suddenly hugs her. "It's just as everyone said, Tohka. It doesn't matter to us that you were never human. It doesn't matter to us that your mother was the same person who turned the others into Spirits. We all still love you, Tohka. Especially me."

Tohka's eyes widen, her cheeks flushing red. "Shido..."

Shido parts from the hug to look Tohka in the eyes. "Tohka, even if our marriage only existed in Eden, to me, it still felt real. I still remember the promise we made to each other on that day."

Tohka blushes. "I do, too. We promised to be with each other forever. I said that I was inadequate for the promise, but we'd work it out together." She places a hand over her heart. ""My heart is in your hand." I remember you saying those words to me. And... even though I cannot fully have yours, I want to hold a piece of your heart, to know that you'll always be there for me."

Shido smiles. "I promise. No matter what happens, you'll always hold an important place in my heart." Sealing the promise, he pulls Tohka in for a kiss. With tears of joy in her eyes, Tohka returns the kiss.

As the two kissed, they ingore the fact that they have an audience. Origami smiles at the scene, even though she felt a little jealous during the whole marriage talk. Miyoi smirks, thinking that Shido was bold to talk about marriage in front of his harem. Kotori also felt jealous, but tried her best to hide it behind a smile. Rinne is happy that her plan with Eden, although misguided, still helped Shido and Tohka confirm their feelings for each other. Yoshino is also smiling, happy that Tohka has also solidified her feelings for Shido just as she has.

Reine, on the other hand, stares with her usual expressionless face, but in her mind, she pictures another person kissing Shido, or rather, someone who looks exactly like Shido in Tohka's place. 'Shin...' She thinks with longing.

The two part from the kiss on look at each other lovingly... only for the moment to be ruined by the growl of a grumbling stomach, making everyone blink and look at Tohka, who blushes again, this time in embarrassment. "Muu... All this worrying has left me hungry..."

Shido chuckles lightheartedly. "That's something that'll never change." He takes out a piece of kinako bread. "Here you go. We still have the kinako bread you didn't finish."

Tohka takes the kinako bread with a smile and eats it, while everyone else chuckles as well. She may be the daughter of the Spirit of Origin, but she'll always be Tohka at her core.

And that's the Epilogue for the Rinne Arc!

Shido now knows the truth of Yoshino's past as Fuyu Hana, and everyone learned the truth of Tohka's origins as a Pure Spirit. Both ended in the same result: Shido accepts the Spirit in question regardless and solidifies his love for them.

Now with that out of the way, we can move on to the Yamai Arc!
