It's 2024 - f*ck it. Elite Force Season 2. After rewatching the franchise, this is - in my semi-expert opinion - where I believe the showrunners were going with Elite Force following 'The Attack'. 1 Chapter is 1 episode, 20-minute sitcom style, just as the style of the show; written in screenplay format. Ep 15 is up now - what secret could Skylar be keeping? Please read & review!

ELITE FORCE: Season 2 Episode 3

"Right As Raine"

Oliver and Kaz uncover a problem... without Mighty Med, superheroes' powers are glitching, and there are no doctors to help - besides them. Meanwhile, Chase and Bree navigate their new bionic ability, and Bree and Skylar are excited to watch their favourite show (much to Chase's dismay).

FADE IN.

SCENE ONE.
INT. PENTHOUSE - LIVING ROOM - DAY.
(SKYLAR and KAZ are hanging out on the couch, whilst CHASE is typing at his laptop at the dining table and BREE is in the kitchen getting a snack. OLIVER comes bounding down the stairs).

OLIVER
Ready to go, buddy?

(KAZ jumps up).

KAZ
Hell yeah! Man, this is going to be awesome.

(OLIVER and KAZ fist bump).

SKYLAR
What's going to be aweso… wait, (Knowingly) it's the first Saturday of the month. Never mind.

(BREE comes over from the kitchen and settles down on the couch).

BREE
What's the first Saturday of the month?

OLIVER
The Great Kaz And Oliver Hang-Out Day Extravaganza!

KAZ
Patton pending.

SKYLAR
(Her head in a magazine)
Otherwise known as the Mr & Mr Happy Couple Date Day.

(OLIVER goes over to SKYLAR, sitting down beside her and taking her hand).

OLIVER
Skylar, sweetie-cakes, you know my heart belongs to only you.

KAZ
Rude.

(OLIVER turns around to face KAZ, his hand lovingly on his shoulder).

OLIVER
(Whispering)
I know, buddy, but I got to let her think it.

SKYLAR
(Sarcastic)
I'm so lucky.

KAZ
It's going to be great! I got the whole day lined up. We're going to see that new Spy flick at the movies, get frozen yoghurt at that place down town, and then go for a round of laser tag!

OLIVER
(Touched)
Aw, laser tag! Kaz!

KAZ
(Modestly)
I know, it was a surprise. Surprise!

OLIVER
(Tearfully)
You get me.

(OLIVER and KAZ hug. CHASE closes his laptop and walks over to the rest of the group).

CHASE
I think it's sweet. It's important to make time for your friends! I certainly do.

BREE
Or you would if you had any friends.

(CHASE makes a mocking face at her, using his new ability).

CHASE (V/O)
Pineapple-barnyard-kangaroo. We have the same friends, smart-mouth.

(BREE turns to CHASE, offended, a look of surprise on her face).

BREE (V/O)
At least I date. How's your android?

CHASE (V/O)
How's your dating apps? Lonely much?

BREE (V/O)
Insufferable much?

(BREE and CHASE, out loud, make simultaneous mocking sounds, sticking their tongues out at each other. CHASE walks away, BREE rolling her eyes and looking at her phone. Comedically switching focus, OLIVER, KAZ and SKYLAR, who just watched an interaction of the siblings staring at each other in complete silence and making faces, stare at them, confused).

KAZ
Did you just… argue… in silence?

SKYLAR
I'm an alien, and even I found that weird.

(BREE and CHASE share a look, deciding to lie).

CHASE
Yup. That's us. Weirdos.

BREE
(Awkward laugh)
Uh-uh! Silent argument. That's what that was.

OLIVER
Wow, sometimes I forget you two were raised in a basement with no one to talk to but each other and then… just like that, I'm reminded.

(CHASE opens his mouth to argue).

BREE (V/O)
(Quickly)
Chase, let it go, they're already suspicious.

CHASE
(Grumpily relenting)
I'm a social outcast.

OLIVER
Bringing me back to… why it's so important to interact with people outside your own family! Come on, Kaz!

KAZ
Extravaganza here we come!

(OLIVER and KAZ exit the penthouse, cheering).

ROLL TITLES

SCENE TWO.
EXT. PARK - FROZEN YOGHURT TRUCK - DAY.
(KAZ picks up two cups of frozen yoghurt and hands his to OLIVER; they continue their conversation, laughing about the movie they've just seen).

KAZ
I'm just sayin', I could totally do that if I wanted to.

OLIVER
It was a triple backflip into a roundhouse kick, man. He beheaded three people! I don't think even Bree could do that.

KAZ
(Scoffs)
Bree could do anything.

(OLIVER gives him a suspicious look. Suddenly, off screen, there is a shout. OLIVER and KAZ are altered and turn).

OLIVER
What's that?

(By the frozen yoghurt stand, a family are eating frozen yoghurt. The FATHER of the family is red-faced, choking).

MOTHER
Someone help!

OLIVER
Kaz, he's choking!

MOTHER
Is anyone a doctor?

(OLIVER and KAZ, without thinking, run forwards).

OLIVER
Stand back, Ma'am!

(OLIVER stands behind the man and swiftly performs the heimlich on the guy. He spits frozen yoghurt out, and the crowd that has gathered, including the MOTHER and the KIDS, applaud).

KAZ
Are you alright, sir?

MOTHER
Here, honey, drink this water.

(The MOTHER offers a bottle of water to the guy, but KAZ holds up his hand).

KAZ
Hang on, let me check. (KAZ checks the FATHER's throat using his phone torch). Yup, just normal yucky, wet, mouth stuff. No irritation. Are you in pain? (The FATHER shakes his head) Alright, go on with the water.

(At KAZ's permission, the MOTHER hands the FATHER the water).

MOTHER
Thank you so much! Are you boys doctors?

(OLIVER and KAZ look at each other awkwardly, not sure how to answer).

OLIVER
Nope, just… right place, right time.

KAZ
You both have a good day.

(KAZ and OLIVER walk away, looking at each other again).

KAZ
Well, that was a rush.

OLIVER
Yeah, brings me back to the Emergency Room.

KAZ
Ah, from when I swallowed that penny in the eighth grade?

OLIVER
(Obviously)
No, from the years we were doctors at Mighty Med, idiot.

KAZ
Oh! Makes more sense.

(A young woman, GREEN FALCON, mid twenties, in a long coat, approaches KAZ and OLIVER. Her voice is low and she looks suspicious).

GREEN FALCON
Did you just say you worked at Mighty Med?

KAZ & OLIVER
(Like deer caught in headlights)
Uh…

KAZ
Nope.

OLIVER
That wasn't us, sorry!

KAZ
Buh-bye now.

(KAZ leads OLIVER swiftly away, but GREEN FALCON catches up).

GREEN FALCON
Yes! You did. You're Kaz and Oliver, you're part of the Elite Force, and you used to be doctors at Mighty Med Superhero Hospital before it was destroyed.

KAZ
Do we have our life stories on our backs, or something, lady? Who are you?

OLIVER
If you're another Rodissius spawn, then it's really cruel of you to come on today of all days! It's Kaz and Oliver time right now.

GREEN FALCON
(Lowers her voice)
No… you can trust me. And I hope I can trust you too.

(GREEN FALCON unbuttons her coat, revealing a green and silver suit underneath).

KAZ
(The cogs turning)
Wait, you're Green Falcon! I've read your comics! You must have got the Elite Force's message through the encrypted network! How have you been since Mighty Med?

GREEN FALCON
I'm risking a lot coming out here.

OLIVER
What's wrong? (Pause, thinks) Wait, you asked us if we were doctors… are you alright?

GREEN FALCON
There's a problem, with my powers, I mean. And without Mighty Med, there's nowhere for me to get any treatment. Would you be able to help me?

(A pause as KAZ and OLIVER think, they look at each other).

OLIVER
I don't know…

KAZ
(To GREEN FALCON)
One sec. (He pulls OLIVER aside) Oliver, how can we turn her down?

OLIVER
It's dangerous for us to be seen with superheroes, Kaz! It risks their identity. It was my idea to go find Crossbow with Skylar, and I won't risk someone's life again.

KAZ
Oliver, we ran to help that guy when he was choking. We took an oath when we worked at Mighty Med - we're the only ones left, bud. It's our duty to help superheroes. That's why we're part of the Elite Force in the first place.

OLIVER
(Thinks, then relents)
Okay, fine. You're right. But we have to be smart about this. (To GREEN FALCON) Come with us.

SCENE THREE.
EXT. PARK - SECLUDED AREA - DAY.
(OLIVER and KAZ stand with GREEN FALCON. OLIVER and KAZ listen intently as GREEN FALCON, now with her coat loose so her supersuit is completely visible, talks to them).

KAZ
So, what's going on?

GREEN FALCON
My Familiar Generation power, it's… broken.

OLIVER
Familiar Generation. You can create a falcon creature out of sparking energy, and it can fly and retrieve things for you. It's an awesome ability - I always wished I had one as a kid.

KAZ
Wow, way to make her feel bad!

OLIVER
(Awkwardly)
Sorry.

GREEN FALCON
It's fine. I'll show you. You're right, it's usually a huge, majestic creature, but now…

(GREEN FALCON holds her hands a foot apart, clawing as she summons energy. Between her hands, a sparking ball of green energy slowly takes shape. It looks as though GREEN FALCON is struggling, and then the energy becomes a small baby bird in the palm of her hand).

GREEN FALCON
And then…

(The energy-bird tries to fly and falls comedically out of her hands, splatting on the ground. KAZ and OLIVER make an in-sync disgusted sound as GREEN FALCON lowers her arms, dissipating the energy into nothing).

GREEN FALCON
See? He won't fly. He won't even grow.

(A silence, KAZ and OLIVER think, completely stumped).

KAZ
(Definitely)
Yup… yeah, that's a problem.

SCENE FOUR.
INT. PENTHOUSE - LIVING ROOM - DAY.
(BREE and CHASE sit on the couch, mid-argument. CHASE looks desperate; BREE looks at her wits end).

CHASE
Come on.

BREE
No.

CHASE
Come on!

BREE
No.

CHASE
Come on!

BREE
No!

CHASE
(Slumping, whining)
Why not?

(BREE stands).

BREE
Because, Chase, you said it yourself, it's an emergency signal. They don't need to know about it until there's an emergency.

CHASE
(Deadpan)
And it was an emergency to ask me for strawberries when I was at the market yesterday?

BREE
(Obviously)
Yeah! Look, you know, that if Davenport finds out, he's going to make you put it in Adam's chip too and, come on, you don't want his every thought in your head, do you?

CHASE
Absolutely not. But it's my invention! I only kept it a secret initially because I didn't know if you'd even want it. But you love it! It's useful. I don't see why we can't tell the team!

BREE
Because. That's why.

(SKYLAR enters from the stairs, oblivious to BREE and CHASE's conversation).

SKYLAR
Hey guys, what's up? You ready, Bree? The show's nearly on!

BREE (V/O)
End of discussion.

CHASE
(Accidentally out loud)
Not a chance. (Awkwardly, he looks to SKYLAR) I was talking to myself. (He scoffs) Whatever, I'm going down to mission command.

BREE
(Smugly)
To build another robot friend?

CHASE
(Pointedly, every word stressed)
I have friends!

(CHASE goes to the kitchen to get an apple).

SKYLAR
You know, you guys should really stop arguing so much. On Caldara, our siblings are our greatest allies.

CHASE
(Mouth full of apple, bitterly)
Caldara is wrong.

BREE
You have siblings?

SKYLAR
No. Our siblings are our greatest allies until we leave the lava pits, and then each group of siblings fights to the death and the last one standing takes the name. (Giggling proudly) There were seven Skylars before I won.

BREE
(Glaring at CHASE)
Now that I can get behind.

CHASE
You'd lose.

BREE
Would not.

SKYLAR
Chase, why don't you come and watch our show with us? That's not a problem with you, Bree, is it?

BREE
(Hesitates)
I guess not.

(Where BREE is sat on SKYLAR's left, CHASE sits on SKYLAR's right).

CHASE
What are you watching?

(As BREE and SKYLAR explain, CHASE's expression grows more disgusted).

BREE
They just released a new season of our favourite reality show: 'Love & Lattes'. This whole group of twenty-somethings compete to find love, and win a coveted spot as the head barista at a new cafe.

SKYLAR
Yeah, each week they face off in challenges, and then the owner of the cafe sends them on coffee-themed dates.

BREE
By the end-

BREE & SKYLAR
(Excited, dramatic).
Only one couple leaves with their hearts and the job, the rest sipping out of the competition.

CHASE
(Repulsed, standing)
Hard pass.

SKYLAR
Come on, Chase! Give it a try.

CHASE
I'd rather claw my eyes out.

BREE
(Sweetly)
Ooh, I'll do that!

CHASE
(Scoffs)
See you later.

(CHASE heads to the hyperlift. BREE and SKYLAR shrug, his loss, and switch on the TV).

SCENE FIVE.
EXT. PARK - SECLUDED AREA - DAY.
(OLIVER and KAZ are standing whilst GREEN FALCON is sitting patiently on a large boulder. OLIVER is putting GREEN FALCON's glove back on her).

OLIVER
Okay, Green Falcon, we're pretty sure there was a problem in the energy suction in your gloves.

KAZ
Yeah, I guess these things happen when superheroes don't get regular check-ups. It should be working for you, though. Try it now.

(GREEN FALCON tries again, and sure enough, the sparking green ball of energy between her hands morphs into a majestic green falcon. The falcon cries and soars above her, perching on her shoulder. GREEN FALCON beams, and then calls the falcon back to her arm. She pulls the energy back into her hand and the falcon disappears. OLIVER and KAZ grin, fist bumping).

GREEN FALCON
Thank you so much! It's working perfectly!

OLIVER
That's no problem, all in a day's work.

GREEN FALCON
You guys are really good at this.

KAZ
(Fake modestly)
Well, we try… it's the job.

GREEN FALCON
Well, if you wouldn't mind, there's one more thing, whilst I've got you.

OLIVER
Sure, go ahead.

CUT TO:
SCENE SEVEN.
INT. PARK - SECLUDED AREA - DAY.
(KAZ and OLIVER are stood in the centre, completely shocked and aghast, as twenty-plus superheroes surround them. GREEN FALCON beams, standing between KAZ and OLIVER and the other superheroes).

GREEN FALCON
These are the Mighty Med doctors I was telling you about!

KAZ
Uh, is it just me, or is this more than one more thing? (KAZ pulls GREEN FALCON aside). Listen, I'm glad we could help, but we really can't have everyone in one spot - it's dangerous.

OLIVER
Wait! Kaz, hang on a sec.

(OLIVER pulls KAZ aside this time).

KAZ
Buddy, what are you doing? You're the one who didn't want to do this.

OLIVER
Yeah, but… look, you said it yourself, these guys need help! And, Kaz, come on… (softens) didn't a little part of you come back to life just then?

KAZ
(Hesitates)
You're right… it was pretty cool, wasn't it.

OLIVER
Come on, bud - just a few more, for old time's sake? It is Kaz and Oliver day… (Punches his arm lightly) Savin' the people…

KAZ
(Smiling, finishing his quote)
Who save people. Darn it, you know I'm a sucker for a slogan! (To the wider populus of superheroes) Alright! Form an orderly queue! Exciting power problems on the left for me, weird yucky skin things on the right for him.

SCENE EIGHT.
INT. PENTHOUSE - LIVING ROOM - DAY.
(BREE and SKYLAR are engrossed in their show, curled up under a blanket with popcorn between them).

GIRL ON TV
But Brandon, I just… I just don't know who I like more… you, Jackson, or espressos!

(CHASE walks from the hyperlift into the kitchen, stealing a handful of popcorn out of the bowl and stuffing it in his mouth).

CHASE
Fake. You know this is all staged, right?

BREE
Go away, Chase! This is why everyone on our forums calls you a fun killer!

CHASE
Nice try, but I know that most of those comments are you.

BOY ON TV
But Vanessa… you're the latte of my heart. Warm, tall, and I could drink you right up.

SKYLAR & BREE
Aw!

CHASE
(Disgusted)
Ew. Like anyone would actually say that in real life.

SKYLAR
It's escapism, Chase, it doesn't have to be good!

CHASE
Whatever.

(CHASE disappears back to the kitchen, and BREE and SKYLAR continue to watch, hooked. When suddenly, BREE and SKYLAR gasp).

BOY ON TV
Yeah, Vanessa completely fell for it, hook line and cappuccino.

BREE
(Excited)
Nooo way!

(CHASE, an eyebrow raised, leans over towards the TV from the kitchen).

CHASE
Wasn't that guy just talking to that other girl!

SKYLAR
Yeah! (Gasped) He's double crossing her!

(CHASE, intrigued, begins to creep over to watch).

CHASE
(Realising, catching himself, doubling back).
No! No! What am I doing! It's killing your brain, Chase, killing your brain! Think smart things…

(CHASE, mumbling, disappears away into the hyperlift).

CUT TO:
SCENE NINE.
INT. PENTHOUSE - LIVING ROOM - DAY.
(BREE and SKYLAR, still hooked, the popcorn bowl having depleted a little to show passage of time. CHASE is trying to type on his laptop at the table behind them, but slowly, his attention is piqued).

GIRL ON TV
That Brandon is nothing but a flat white, coming on way too strong, and leaves a lot to be desired.

(CHASE slowly closes the laptop, leaning forwards. He snaps back to himself).

CHASE
Smart things, Chase, smart things! Come on, come on. Hydrogen, Helium, Lithium, Beryllium…

CUT TO:
SCENE TEN.
INT. PENTHOUSE - LIVING ROOM - DAY.
(BREE and SKYLAR are still watching, in more sprawled out positions, the popcorn bowl having depleted further. CHASE walks past the couch, attention immediately grabbed by the TV).

CHASE
Wait, wait, who's that guy? He wasn't there earlier!

BREE & SKYLAR
Sssh!

CHASE
Okay, wow. I was just asking for your sakes. To take an interest in your… (he trails off, watching the TV. Then he slaps himself out of it, slapping himself with every element as he walks away) No! Boron! Carbon! Nitrogen! Oxygen!

CUT TO:
SCENE ELEVEN.
INT. PENTHOUSE - LIVING ROOM - DAY.
(BREE and SKYLAR, still hooked on the TV, are now ignoring CHASE and his denial. The popcorn has almost completely depleted. CHASE walks through the room).

CHASE
I'm not watching! I'm just going for a walk. That's right, going for a walk. Fluoride, Neon, Sodium, Magnesiu-

(On the TV, a loud smash sounds. CHASE comes running back, leaping over the couch and planting himself firmly between BREE and SKYLAR).

CHASE
(Eating popcorn)
What happened?

SCENE TWELVE.
EXT. PARK - SECLUDED AREA - DAY.
(KAZ and OLIVER's favour has turned into more of a pop-up walk-in clinic, and they are swamped. They are both dealing with their own patients, but both are clearly in their element. KAZ writing down on a scrap of paper).

KAZ
Okay, well, since your name is Quantum Whisper, can you see how you'd have a problem when you yell? (QUANTUM WHISPER nods, ashamedly). Okay, well, just keep your voice rested, lemon tea twice a day - add a dash of honey if you're feeling frisky - and you'll be fine.

(QUANTUM WHISPER goes on his merry way and at the same time, OLIVER sends his own patient on their way. KAZ turns to OLIVER).

KAZ
Oh man. It took us all day, but that was the last one.

OLIVER
I know, I am wiped! If one more superhero comes to me with another stomach ache that MightyMD Website could have diagnosed, well… (OLIVER chuckles) I might have to get you to burn my brain.

(A figure walks up behind them. They are in their late teens / mid twenties, dressed in all black, and they look concerned - RAINE).

RAINE
You're Oliver and Kaz? From the Elite Force?

(OLIVER and KAZ groan).

OLIVER
Kaz, just to be clear, I was kidding on the burning my brains.

KAZ
Yes, we're doctors, and no, we can't perform open surgery in the middle of Centium Park.

OLIVER
How can we help?

RAINE
My name is Raine. My brothers are Roman and Riker.

(OLIVER and KAZ widen their eyes, pressing themselves into a fighting stance; they share a glance).

MIDWAY BREAK.

SCENE THIRTEEN.
EXT. PARK - SECLUDED AREA - DAY.
(The scene as it was. OLIVER and KAZ stand staring at RAINE. KAZ summons flames into his hands).

KAZ
Man, I knew this clinic was a mistake.

OLIVER
You shouldn't have come here.

KAZ
Ready to join your Dad in prison?

(KAZ makes to throw his flame at RAINE, but RAINE steps back, nervous).

RAINE
Wait, wait! Don't fire! Please! You guys are the doctors, right? I need help.

OLIVER
We don't help the bad guys. It's in the name: Mighty Med. (Insultingly) Being mean isn't mighty.

KAZ
(Whispering)
Buddy, that slogan wasn't so good.

OLIVER
(Dropping his stance, turning casually to KAZ)
I did feel it was a bit stilted.

KAZ
Maybe you could try- (Cuts himself off, turns back to RAINE) Ah-hah! You nearly distracted me. You're good, but you won't get me!

RAINE
Look, I'm scared. I know my brothers and sister hurt you, but I need help.

OLIVER
Why should we help you? Your family destroyed Mighty Med and everyone in it! Our friends died because of you!

RAINE
I'm not like them. Things have changed since Father was taken to Mighty Max. Roman and Riker are ruling the family with an iron fist, and no one is safe. I don't… I don't want to do it anymore. I don't want to hurt people.

KAZ
And why should we believe you?

RAINE
Look, if you don't believe me, take my powers away. Then you'll see I'm serious. You must have a power vacuum tool, right?

(KAZ and OLIVER look at each other).

OLIVER
What's the catch?

RAINE
No catch, just… help me. I don't want to be evil anymore. But I don't have much time, Roman and Riker think I went to the grocery store to throw yoghurts at old ladies, but all I want to do now is help them cross the street, you know?

OLIVER
(His sympathy winning)
Well, you know, I guess we could…

KAZ
No! No. Oliver, no. Get lost, Raine. We don't do dealings with your family. You have five seconds to run before I destroy you.

RAINE
But-

KAZ
Five, Four -

RAINE
Okay! Okay!

(RAINE shapeshifts into a bird and flies away. OLIVER and KAZ watch them go).

OLIVER
Kaz! What the heck, man?

KAZ
(Passionate)
Don't tell me you fell for that act? (OLIVER looks away) What's wrong with you? Roman, Riker, Reece that whole family of R-named psychos are dangerous. Raine just wants us close enough to let down our guard to - I don't know - take our powers away. Or they want us in the same place as the rest of the superheroes to finish us off once and for all. They're evil, Oliver. All of them!

(OLIVER, deep in thought, perches himself on a boulder).

OLIVER
Maybe not. I don't know, I thought there was something different in Raine's eyes. I think they're genuinely scared.

KAZ
(Scoffs)
Likely story. This whole clinic idea was a mistake, I'm sorry I agreed to help Green Falcon in the first place.

OLIVER
I'm not! (Pause, KAZ can see sudden hurt in OLIVER's eyes). I miss it, Kaz! I miss saving people -

KAZ
We save people every day! We're superheroes -

OLIVER
Not like this, we don't! We shoot things and punch things, but we used to be a safe place for people who are sick and scared, and Raine… Raine looked at us the same way Tecton, or Solarflair, or Quicksilver used to look at us.

(A solemn silence falls over KAZ and OLIVER).

OLIVER
(Softer, more desperate)
Come on, Kaz. If Raine had an ulterior motive, why would they come here just to ask us for help when the superheroes were all around us?

KAZ
(Thinking)
You really want to give them the benefit of the doubt?

OLIVER
(Sadly)
I don't know… maybe it's just wishful thinking. I gave my Mom so many chances to turn around and ask us for help, to change, that… (he sighs) I don't know, Kaz. (He pauses again, shrugging) Is it so wrong to think a villain can be good again?

(A pause; KAZ thinks, his opinion swaying).

KAZ
Aw, buddy, don't bring your Mom up, you know when you cry, I cry.

OLIVER
(Mumbling through tears)
It's Kaz and Oliver day, we should cry together at least once.

KAZ
Come here.

(KAZ and OLIVER hug).

KAZ
(After the hug)
Alright. I trust you, man. Let's go find Raine and help them.

OLIVER
Thank you.

(OLIVER and KAZ fist bump).

SCENE FOURTEEN.
INT. PENTHOUSE - LIVING ROOM - DAY.
(The living room is empty, the blanket and popcorn bowl discarded. CHASE walks in, seeing the couch empty and frowning).

CHASE
Guys? (Pause, he looks around) Guys? Come on, our - I mean - your show is on! (Pause) Come on! I want to not watch it with you!

(CHASE walks to the hyperlift).

SCENE FIFTEEN.
INT. MISSION COMMAND - DAY.
(SKYLAR and BREE are sitting on stools, watching their show on the TV screen in Mission Command. They are laughing, chatting, gasping at the show, having a good time. Behind them the hyperlift opens, and CHASE stands there. He walks into Mission Command, sees them, puts his hands on his hips and glares).

CHASE
Hey!

(BREE and SKYLAR jump).

CHASE
What are you doing? You're watching 'Love & Lattes' without me?

BREE
Well, what did you want us to do? You're insufferable to watch it with. All (mockingly) "that's fake", "that's dumb".

SKYLAR
(Equally mockingly)
"That's morally wrong".

BREE
"That's not how you make a perfect mocha".

CHASE
I'm just enjoying it!

BREE
No, Chase, you're ruining it.

CHASE
(Defensively, only because his sister was the one to speak)
Am not! (Pauses, he turns to SKYLAR) Am I?

SKYLAR
(Awkwardly)
Little bit. (CHASE looks incredulous) Look, sorry we ditched you, but we've been looking forward to this for weeks. And it really sucks having someone talking in your ear the whole time.

CHASE
Alright, well, I didn't mean to be annoying.

BREE (V/O)
(Narrowing her eyes at CHASE before speaking in her head, about to prove him wrong)
Pineapple, barnyard, kanga-

CHASE (V/O)
(Giving her a look of warning)
Quiet!

SKYLAR
Plus, I thought you hated mindless escapism.

CHASE
I do! (Thinking) I… did. Look, it's not so bad, okay? Please can I watch it with you? Please, please, please?

BREE
Ugh, fine! If you're quiet, and you admit that the smartest man in the world is wrong all the time and this isn't the first time it's happened.

CHASE
I can promise to be quiet… but I'll never say the other thing. Ever. In my life.

(BREE and SKYLAR share a look).

SKYLAR
(Relenting)
Get in here.

(CHASE grins and hops up to sit on the edge of the cyberdesk between the girls, spreading the blanket across the three of them, BREE rolls her eyes, but they continue to all watch TV together).

CHASE
You know those coffee beans probably come from -

BREE & SKYLAR
(Angrily)
Ssh!

CHASE
(Relenting, quietening)
Shushing, shushing!

SCENE SIXTEEN.
INT. SUPERMARKET - DAY.
(KAZ and OLIVER enter the grocery store, eyes searching over the stands of fruit and veg, searching for RAINE).

KAZ
This is the fifth grocery store we've been to. I don't think we're going to find -

(OLIVER sees RAINE standing by a dairy shelf, forlornly holding yoghurts and eyeing up passers by).

OLIVER
Raine!

KAZ
Oh. (Matter-of-factly) Well that was easy.

(OLIVER and KAZ energetically run up to RAINE).

RAINE
What are you doing here? Please, just go. (Sighs, looking at the yoghurts) Sorry, Mrs Ramsay, you're getting a facefull of low fat strawberry again…

(RAINE sadly lifts their hand to throw, but OLIVER grabs their wrist, stopping them).

OLIVER
Wait, Raine. We've discussed it, and we can help you. If you really want out of the dark side, we can do it.

KAZ
(Authoritatively)
But we're taking your powers away, and that's that. And you have to cut off Roman, Riker and the others today with no exceptions. Clean slate. Got it?

RAINE
Deal! Thank you, thank you so much! Take that stupid yoghurt pots! (RAINE puts them carefully, gently back on the shelf, then turns to OLIVER and KAZ) Thank you!

(RAINE hugs OLIVER).

OLIVER
Come with us. We have to move fast to avoid detection from your family.

RAINE
Okay.

SCENE SEVENTEEN.
EXT. PARK - SECLUDED AREA - DAY.
(KAZ, OLIVER and RAINE stand in the park. OLIVER has a power extractor (a small remote-like box) held at arm's length. RAINE has their hand outstretched, palm spread open as OLIVER holds the power extractor over it. Energy absorbs upwards in a beam into the extractor, and OLIVER clicks it off, satisfied. RAINE shakes their hand to get feeling back).

KAZ
How do you feel?

RAINE
(Smiling)
Free. I feel free.

OLIVER
(Smiling)
I'm really glad to hear it, Raine.

RAINE
(Slightly concerned)
I don't know where I'm going to go now, but… thank you. I'll honour the deal, I'll leave the family business for good.

(OLIVER and KAZ share a look).

KAZ
Yeah, well, we might be able to help you with that too.

RAINE
What do you mean?

(OLIVER hands RAINE an envelope, who opens it whilst OLIVER is talking to reveal a bus ticket, a small business card, and some money).

OLIVER
That's a bus ticket to Pennsylvania. We have some friends, Wallace and Clyde, they run a comic book shop. They're reformed villains too, so we made a call, and they said you could stay with them. They're expecting you for dinner tonight.

KAZ
Though, FYI, if Wallace is making the chilli, I wouldn't eat it.

RAINE
(Taken aback)
I don't know how I can ever repay you.

OLIVER / KAZ
(Speaking simultaneously)
Just stay on the right path / Money's good.

(OLIVER elbows KAZ).

KAZ
Yeah. Right path. Good trumps evil. Yada-yada.

(RAINE hugs OLIVER again, and then KAZ).

RAINE
Thank you.

KAZ
Now get out of here, you crazy kid, you're gonna miss your bus!

RAINE
Bye!

(RAINE, a smile on their face, exits. OLIVER and KAZ watch them go with a smile of their own; OLIVER clearly has a deeper emotion on his face, longing maybe, and KAZ puts a comforting hand on his shoulder).

KAZ
Come on, bud. Laser tag time.

OLIVER
(Tearfully)
You really get me.

KAZ
(Leading him away)
I know, bud, I know.

SCENE EIGHTEEN.
INT. MISSION COMMAND - DAY.
(CHASE, SKYLAR, and BREE, their TV set up now cleared away, are listening to KAZ and OLIVER's retelling of events. CHASE and BREE looks sceptical, SKYLAR is listening intently, and KAZ and OLIVER have a solemn look on their faces).

BREE
So that's it? They just… disappeared?

KAZ
(Nodding)
Gone for good. Hopped on a bus to Pensylvannia and won't look back.

CHASE
How do you know they won't turn evil again?

OLIVER
We've got Wallace and Clyde looking out for them. They'll update us, let us know if anything happens. But Raine was legit. (He pauses) It's good to know there's some hope out there.

SKYLAR
I just can't believe you guys treated so many superheroes.

KAZ
Yeah…

CHASE
It makes you think, everyone must be really struggling with no Mighty Med. Kind of like if Bree and I didn't have our capsules to regulate our bionics. We'd go haywire.

OLIVER
(Sadly)
I didn't realise how much I missed it until I was stuck in it

KAZ
(Nodding)
Me too.

OLIVER
Look, guys, I know we said we have to lay low, that after what happened with Crossbow, we can't risk meeting the superheroes out in public. But maybe there's a way to use the encrypted network to send other coded messages out, just to offer it to anyone who needs medical help.

(A pause as the team all thinks).

BREE
That's not a bad idea. We are here to help the superheroes, whatever form that may take. Plus, now that I am one, my powers are going to need a physical every now and again.

KAZ
Yeah, and you're a hybrid freak, so god knows what you're capable of when you get the flu.

(BREE gives KAZ a black look).

CHASE
(Thinking)
We could make it work. It's worth it that everyone's on top form, especially with twelve of Rodissius' children still on the loose. (Nodding) I'll talk to Mr Davenport, see what I can do.

(Focus on KAZ, OLIVER and SKYLAR, sharing a supportive look, with small smiles, meaning "we got this").

SKYLAR
Alright, but… you're going to need one more thing.

CUT TO:
SCENE NINETEEN.
(OLIVER and KAZ stand in mission command, pulling on their Mighty Med doctors' coats like it's an old, comfortable glove. They sigh, look at each other, and make simultaneous sounds of excitement. BREE, CHASE, and SKYLAR look at them, BREE and CHASE share a quick look of "they look pretty cool", and SKYLAR watches her boys with pride. OLIVER pulls a business card out of his pocket with the familiar Mighty Med 'M' Logo).

OLIVER
(Proudly)
Mighty Med Mobile… I like it.

KAZ
(Offering a fist to OLIVER).
Savin' the people…?

OLIVER
(Happily bumping KAZ in a small handshake)
…Who save people!

(Pan out from OLIVER and KAZ, an old duty filling them with fresh energy).
