Consulting an Oracle about Danzo

The full council was assembled this day, to witness an ancient marvel, a device of the ancient world that was able to chart the economic future of nations. Many wondered what it would be able to tell them of their own times, even as it was clear to all that this was 'not an economic warfare strategy meeting', as some may think. Officially anyway, which is rather the point when it comes to affairs of state, much less when the state is run by mystical superpowered assassins.

But, as the device stirred to life, it is with hidden eagerness and solemn face that Hiruzen took the speaking horn and decided to ask something simple. Or, if one actually thought about it, perhaps merely simple from the perspective of someone not mired in the local situation. "Great oracle, what is the greatest source of untapped revenue for the village of Konohagakure?" Frankly, none expected there to be a single thing that they overlooked, but perhaps there were innovations that the ancients saw as simple that had been lost to time? Or perhaps ways to improve the infrastructure?

The oracle gave a great hum of deliberation, ancient script moving as it made its arcane calculations. And then it spoke, with a booming and sure voice, stunning the council. "If you set up a line at Danzō Shimura's grave and charged one hundred Ryo to spit on it and five hundred to piss on it it would earn the village approximately fifty million Roy per year in direct revenue. Allowing for missing and ninja not belonging to the land of fire to partake in the service would increase the direct revenue to approximately three hundred and eighty-nine million Ryo per year."

Even as the man in question opened his mouth, rage clear in his eye and fury in his body language, the oracle continued. "These figures largely stem from the fact that he is the third largest destabilizing influence in the Elemental Countries, the most successful traitor according to the local legal codes, has been nominated for multiple sinner awards from Hell, the fact that it is harder to find an enemy with a grievance against Konohagakure that he has not been responsible for in the last thirty years than not to the point of being statistical anomalies to the fact that he has destroyed every single ally the village possesses."

The oracle paused for a half a moment, before a very awake Nara spoke. "Third largest destabilizing influence?" There is shock, disgust and a sense of being impressed in his tone, the oracle shifting gears to reply.

"The second largest is the fact that with the Kyuubi sealed away, the negative energies are allowed to fester and are not properly dealt with. The incidences of demonic and outsider incursions has been increasing over the last fifty years. The greatest is the Black Zetsu, though most of his success has been accidental and in spite of his own efforts."

Orochimaru collects the clan of test subjects during the invasion

Now, the snake likes eyes. He likes test subjects. And as it so happened, his old home had a place where he could pick up so many of both at once! Really, it was all their own fault, as infiltrators activated the seals, as they pulsed their chakra in the right patterns, as the branch members of the Hyuga clan fell screaming, soon dead as the seal wiped out all of those that had suffered it. Followed of course, by teams of ninja falling on their compound, as the main branch, so used to having slaves to protect them?

When the forces of the leaf took stock, as Sound and Sand were pushed back, there were many dead men with their eyes torn out and many missing Hygua women. In many ways, the compound became a shell of its former self, the power and prestige of their clan ripped away in moments. Not that the dead and eyeless elders could complain.

Meanwhile, in the sound village, progress was being made on getting new test subjects and implanting the eyes into those to who it would be useful. Really, those eyes would make for lovely additions to his mad medical corps!
