Here's another chapter! Melissa and Uraraka are finally somewhat getting along! And now Midoriya and Uraraka have finally talked things out. They seem to be doing a lot better now. Melissa seems to like Midoriya, but it's not as strong as Uraraka's feelings for him. They still have some things to take care of before they swap back to normal. Melissa wants to use Uraraka's quirk to help build this invention. We'll see how it goes...
I highly recommend reading The Winter Dance, and everything else after that just to get the full experience especially if you want to know who Kitsune is!! Enjoy :)
Earlier in the hallways...
Melissa had been walked over to the school by Midoriya and Uraraka. She still didn't feel so good, so she cleaned herself up in a nearby restroom. Midoriya had texted AllMight that she was not feeling good because of Uraraka's quirk. He made sure that he knew that she was okay now. Melissa washed away, feeling so much better after splashing some cold water on her face. Melissa felt pretty nauseous, but it soon dissipated once they walked over to the school. She looked down at her hands, looking closer at Uraraka's finger pads.
She found it fasinating how quirks work, especially ones like Midoriya's and Uraraka's. Something about having basically an amazing tool like this on you all the time was pretty crazy to her. The fact that she could turn it on and off whenever she wanted to made it even better. She lost control of it, but she could tell that she could hold objects without turning it on.
Melissa thought about her invention and wondered if she could finally get some of it done. She dried off her face and looked into the mirror. She soon realized that her rosy cheeks looked similar to her finger pads. She wondered if that meant anything. It made it seem like her emotions were connected to her quirk if she had rosy cheeks on her face. She noticed how brown her eyes were and checked her hair. It felt so bouncy the way it curled inward. It felt refreshing compared to her hair that was so thick and heavy around her shoulders.
Melissa soon exited the restroom and found Midoriya and Uraraka waiting for her. They looked like they were talking about something important, but soon went to check on her.
"Hey Melissa," Midoriya said to her, "Are you okay? That was a pretty crazy back there."
"Yeah. I'm okay," Melissa said back, "I just didn't expect to flip upside down like that. It really freaked me out for a while there."
"Yeah. My quirk is pretty weird like that," Uraraka said back with a sweat drop on her forehead, "Maybe we should stop practicing for a while."
Melissa felt a little disappointed, but still wondered if they wanted to help with her invention. She had to get it done soon anyway.
"I was going to work on my invention. I really do need to finish it soon," Melissa said to them, "If I can just get some of it done, I think I can finish it sooner than I thought."
Midoriya and Uraraka shared a look, and Melissa hoped that they would understand.
"Are you sure you want to do this?" Uraraka asked her, "I mean, you just threw up. I don't want you overdoing it with my quirk if you've never used it before."
"Yes. I know, but I really want to do this," Melissa said back, "If you want, you guys can come with me to help explain things. That would probably help get things finished quicker."
"Really? You don't think we'll get in the way?" Midoriya asked her.
"No. Of course not," Melissa said back, "Besides, I think I need some help with this anyway."
They all agreed to go with her, and soon headed towards the support lab. Melissa felt pretty confident finishing up this invention now that she had some help. She looked back at Midoriya and Uraraka, and they looked like they were finally getting along. It was still weird to her seeing herself being so close to him. She had never been in this sort of situation before on I-island. They were even smiling at each other, which made her happy. She a little upset that he didn't like her in that way, but that didn't matter. She was happy with what she was working on, and they were happy just supporting one another.
Melissa was happy to see them finally talking things out as they held hands.
After a while of walking through the hallway, Melissa soon came across the support lab. Before they could go in however, an explosion went off. It caused the door to come bursting open with smoke, and Melissa shielded them from it. She wasn't quite used to this Hatsume girl doing all of this, but she was still prepared. Midoriya and Uraraka were a little thrown off even if they were somewhat used to it by now. Hatsume soon came walking out of the lab, coughing from the smoke.
Her eyes lit up when she saw Midoriya with Melissa, somehow ignoring Uraraka.
"Midoriya! Melissa! You're here!" Hatsume exclaimed to them as she ran over to them.
"Y-Yeah. W-We're here to help Melissa with her invention," Midoriya said to her.
"Oh yes! Melissa's quite the inventor! Her work I'd say is just as good as mine!" Hatsume exclaimed to them, "My babies are pretty complex however! You should come check them out!"
Hatsume pushed Melissa and Midoriya into the support lab, leaving Uraraka behind. Unfortunately, she didn't know about the body swap incident and grabbed Uraraka by mistake. Melissa was left behind and came inside to check on them. She headed inside and noticed that Hatsume didn't mess with her invention, which she appreciated.
It looked pretty complex, and she had to get it done soon.
Midoriya was being forced to wear something that Hatsume made while Uraraka tried to get her to step away from him. Something about it bothered Uraraka that Hatsume was trying to get so close to Midoriya, but she seemed more interested in her inventions at the moment. Then Hatsume started feeling Midoriya's muscles. Melissa and Uraraka were feeling a little weird in that moment. Something about their feelings got a little jumbled up seeing Hatsume getting close to him. Uraraka's face brightened red as Melissa's cheeks blemished up quite a bit and tried to avoid eye contact.
Midoriya was a little uncomfortable around Hatsume, but she didn't stop feeling his muscles.
"Wow! You've been exercising a lot more since I last saw you!" Hatsume exclaimed to him, "You really are so muscly!"
Uraraka didn't know what to do as she stood there, but then Melissa noticed how red Uraraka looked. She stepped up and got in between Midoriya and Hatsume, shocking Uraraka.
"Hatsume! Stop getting in the way," Melissa exclaimed to her, "I'm not sure if you know this, but Deku and Ochaco are dating. You should back off. You don't want to make things werd."
Hatsume blinked and then looked at who was yelling at them. It looked like Uraraka was yelling at her, which confused her even more. Hatsume didn't seemed to understand what was going on, but went back to her workspace anyway. Midoriya and Uraraka relaxed a little as she went back to her inventions. Melissa looked around and noticed that Powerloader wasn't here at the moment.
She wanted to get to work right away, and she'd explain things later to him and Hatsume.
Melissa went over to her invention and remembered where she left off. Something about it felt weird though since she was stuck in Uraraka's body. She didn't know how she was going to go about this, but went right to where she was working on last time. There was some things that she needed to fix, but couldn't because she would've needed someone to lift it.
"Deku. Can you lift this for me?" Melissa asked her, "I'd use Ochaco's quirk, but I don't want to overdo it right away."
Midoriya nodded and quickly activated One for All. Uraraka stood back as he lifted up the invention. He tried to be gentle with it, but it could tell that it was still being worked on. Melissa got one of her tools and quickly got to work. She could reach now and soon going through some wires and gadgets that slid out of a panel.
Uraraka was curious as to what she was working on. She said that it would help out U.A. and Class 1-A as a whole whatever that meant. She wondered if she was working on something for hero training based on what she told them. That was the only that she could think of, which kind of got her excited about this thing.
"Hey. What is this invention for anyway? You didn't explain what it was earlier," Midoriya asked her, "It seem pretty bulky for what it is."
"Yes. There's a reason for that," Melissa explained to them as she kept working on it, "But I'm not going to tell you. It's a surprise. I don't think you'll be disappointed though. I really hope that I can finally finish this thing though. It's a little complex and hard to put certain pieces into it. That's why I needed Ochaco's quirk. I thought that maybe this quirk might be useful to reaching those tough to reach places, maybe even lift it up if I needed to."
Uraraka had to admit, it was kind of interesting seeing herself do something so complex. Something about it so oddly satisfying seeing Melissa using her quirk for something that will help the school. She couldn't help smile at how good it made her feel. Uraraka didn't expect it to so bulky and noticed that some things were inside of it. Things that she had already put in, but she couldn't tell what it was.
Melissa kept working on it, but soon pushed the panel of wires back into it. She screwed in it and went to a different angle. She asked Midoriya if he could move it over to a different side. She soon put down a tool and looked at her hands, ready to start using Uraraka's quirk. She put her fingertips together, activating it on herself. She even touched some of the tools as they floated up towards the ceiling. She grabbed one of them and tried to swim through the air towards the invention. She made her way over to the invention and went to work.
Uraraka just kept watching her in awe, feeling like Melissa knew what she was doing. She had never had a quirk before and and yet she knew what to use it for. She didn't even hesitate or struggle as she tried to fix her invention. Something about it made Uraraka realize that she was pretty smart with or without a quirk. She had to admit, she kind of admired her for working so hard to get this thing done.
Melissa grabbed a different tool that had floated over to her and kept working on it. Midoriya was started to struggle to keep it up.
"Me-Melissa, I-I don't think I can hold it up much longer," Midoriya said through gritted teeth, "It's a lot heavier than it looks."
Melissa felt a little nausous, but soon activated Uraraka's quirk on the invention. She felt that feeling come over again, and her stomach felt sick as that heaviness of the invention made it much tougher on her. She tried to ignore it, but she felt it start to wear on her. Uraraka noticed, and Melissa soon deactivated zero gravity on herself and everything else.
Midoriya tried to set it down properly and luckily didn't damage it. Melissa landed on the floor, but stumbled on the way down. She almost tripped onto a tool as she felt her stomach getting sick to her stomach again.
"Ochaco. I don't feel so good," Melissa said back, "I thought that I could make as much as I want to float."
"Not exactly. The heavier it is, the more it's going to wear on you," Uraraka explained to her, "That invention of yours is probably too heavy while you've already done so much already today. Maybe you should take a break."
Melissa tried to ignore that sick feeling that she was getting in her stomach, but it was really bothering her now. She really wanted to get this invention done soon, but she had to stop. Midoriya came over to her and rubbed her back for support.
Uraraka looked at the invention, noticing how much she finished so quickly. Something about it seemed familiar, but that was probably because she was stuck in Melissa's body. She could somewhat see her putting this together, which was weird to her. Bakugo and Uraraka had moments where they experienced their feelings getting the way of other things, but this felt different. She felt like she could see things being put together in a way that Melissa would see it.
"Whoa..." Uraraka said without thinking.
"What? What's wrong Ochaco?" Midoriya asked her.
Uraraka tried to shake it off, but she didn't mind it. It was kind of interesting to her to see things in her perspective.
"No. Nothing's wrong," Uraraka explained to them, "It's just that... Melissa seems to know how to put things together, one piece at a time. She can see where everything should go and how it works. It's kind of cool just watching this come together like this. I can't even do this with my quirk, let alone in school work."
Melissa's and Midoriya's eyes widened in shock, hearing her talk about what she was experiencing. Melissa felt a slight blemish form around her cheeks as she felt a little better after Midoriya rubbed her back. She felt a little embarrassed that Uraraka could even see things like that since that was kind of her thing.
"Yeah... That's just how I put inventions together," Melissa said back, "I can tell where things should go and how they work together. Sometimes it can be a little stressful when it doesn't work, but then I have to go about it a different angle. That's why I asked for your help. I needed help with getting around this thing. It's a bit big and bulky that I couldn't do this without you. The way you use zero gravity is so inspiring. The way you maneuver in the air, you look so confident in what you're doing and know how to use your quirk in ways that no one else could. It's a bit of a struggle to stay in the air, so I don't understand how you even do any of that."
Uraraka's eyes widened in shock, hearing this all from her. Something about hearing all of that from her felt like something that she needed to hear. It was so relieving just to be here letting her use her quirk. But now things were starting to come together in more ways than one. She looked at Midoriya, and he looked happy to see them understanding each other a little more.
Uraraka was surprised that she was actually enjoying this more than she expected.
