"With the startling news about Kite Man accepting the responsibilities of owning a bar that he had no experience in. The low-level villain along with his new friends have a long way in making it an established business and keeping it from closing down. The Seaviates Spinner and Slobster had trouble with this sudden change in career choice since the two didn't know how to run a bar since they were only good for fighting and getting dirty when it came to committing crimes. Right now, Slobster was given the task of getting groceries to help Lisa learn what she could make since Noonan had a kitchen that would be great for making food. Spinner was against the idea since the crustacean would eat the food before making it back to the apartment with the bags intact, but Charles knew that Slobster could make it back without ruining the food."
Night Time-Gotham Market
It was late and night as well as the perfect time for a Seaviate like Slobster to walk outside to experience the city life rather than be exposed in daylight for hundreds of people to see and take photos of him. Not that he didn't seem to care since he had a large claw that he wouldn't mind using on curious people, but he found it comfortable with no one screaming at him to that of calling the police on him. He was in a market store and pushing a shopping cart as he was looking at a list of several foods that Lisa required to help her make the right types of meals that they'd serve at Noonan's. Looking at the shelves and cautiously grabbing the cans, Slobster continued the shopping till he went by a fish area where he saw a shocking sight.
"Cannibals."
Slobster spoke out as he saw a tank full of lobsters and crabs with their claws banded with rubber bands as well as not knowing they were ready to be sold off and eaten by people. Looking around to see no one looking, Slobster lifted the water tank off the stand and placed it in his shopping cart so he'd rescue his aquatic brethren.
"Hey! Shell fucker!"
Someone shouted from behind as Slobster looked over to see a human in a yellow spotted hood while wearing a fisherman-styled uniform that came with a belt with custom-made lures attached to it. Keeping the lobster tank close to him, the Seaviate snarled at the human to attempt to scare him away from trying to back the lobsters and crab.
"I spent the entire morning at Gotham Harbor fishing for those little beauties, and I'm not letting their freak of an uncle take them away before I make some money."
The Fisherman told Slobster as he pulled out what seemed like a fishing pole that looked like a weapon with how sharp the hook was. Not thinking he had the sense to attack him, Slobster rushed at him as he was about to slice him in half with one chop from his claw. The Fisherman spun his fishing rod as the wire wrapped around Slobster as it was strong enough to keep the Seaviate from breaking free, confused at how it was possible to be captured in such a state. His thoughts were interrupted by Fisherman using his strength to fling him across into the air and have the Seaviate crash into several shelves, snarling at how he was being humiliated by a human. The lobster got back on his feet and decided to try the same move but on the fisherman, he used his weight to toss the human across the shelves where he had the chance to break free from his restraint.
"What Slobster wants! Slobster gets!"
He shouted in the market as the Seaviate made his way to the shopping cart and would do what he had promised and get Golden Glider her food. Avoiding any nearby shoppers and avoiding getting stuck in the aisles, the lobster saw the cashier lines open for him to make the payment.
"It's lucky that these pants have strong pockets, especially with a wallet that can withstand my claws."
Commenting about his new garments being able to make him feel comfortable in them not letting anything fall out of his pockets. Walking over to pay for the food and the lobster tank, he heard grunting sounds coming from the fisherman as he saw the human putting one of the lures on his fishing rod which was in the shape of a piranha.
"Do you have a bag to take these belongings, sir? If not, you can buy one for half off with the purchases you make."
The cashier asked Slobster which left the lobster unable to respond as the fisherman hurled his fishing rod at him and had his piranha lure latched onto his head. Being brought back and deciding to take him on, man to lobster. The cashier employee stood by doing nothing as he could only hear the sounds of yelling and punching coming from the aisles he did nothing but wait until someone came out and was ready to pay for the items. It lasted several minutes before Slobster came out with several bruises across his red shell and small hooks that were in his head.
"Paper or plastic?"
He asked Slobster for what type of bag he wanted to put his purchased food in the Seaviate said nothing and gave him the money that Lisa had given him. Strolling out of the market with the tank filled with lobsters and crabs, Slobster looked around the streets to make sure there weren't any other people attempting to start a fight with him over a tank of crustaceans. Opening one of the manholes that were by his side, he lifted the lid where he looked down to see if there weren't any humans living in the tunnels.
"Alright, buddies. I don't know where the direction of the ocean is, but it's better than being someone's meal. Now start swimming!"
He shouted at the fish folk as he dumped them in the sewers so they could afford a fate worse than death. Just as the crustacean had set his fellow kind free, he didn't hear the sound of an object jumping up and down from behind him as Slobster watched the crustaceans swimming down the sewer to freedom.
"You know you're just giving Killer Croc a free meal, right? Cause those swimming meals are going to be chomped in the next block."
A voice interrupted Slobster's moment as the Seaviate turned his back to see a strange sight that watched him display an act of unusual heroism. It was a potted Venus Fly Trap who was staring at Slobster as well as not freaked out about a walking lobster throwing his kind in the sewer. Confused about what to say to the plant that joked with him about the sea animals being a meal for a crocodile that is living in the sewers, the plant held up his leaves so he'd explain to him why he was here late at night.
"Name's Frank, Frank the Plant. I'm kind of Kite Man's friend since he doesn't have many around him if you catch my drift."
He introduced himself to Slobster and commented on how Charles isn't like everyone as well as easy picking with him not having powers or an established criminal history with how low he is in the supervillain world. Growling at the response and needing to satisfy his anger, Slobster was about to cut Frank's head off with his claw but was stopped when he pulled out a wrapped-up box with a plant-themed wrapping around it.
"I'm here to give him something that's supposed to help him get ahead in whatever the hell he's doing. His ex-girlfriend wanted him to have it, and no it's not a bomb or anything gross."
Frank informed Slobster that the contents of the box were nothing harmful and potentially able to aid Kite Man in his endeavors of running an established bar. Unsure if he should trust the talking plant, Slobster reluctantly takes the box and sees the man-eating plant shrug off as he whistles for a nearby taxi to take him back home. Having difficulty understanding that the human that is allowing him and his friend to stay with him back at a small apartment, he questions the people he had encountered before coming to Fission City. Deciding to not overthink it because it wasn't worth his time, Slobster decided to have fun and shake the box to hear whatever was inside of the gift that was for Kite-Man.
"I request that you don't shake me, please! While I'm my head is metal and indestructible, my human brain is fragile."
A voice came from the box it startled Slobster because there was a head in it that left the Seaviate to snarl at Frank for lying at him is not being anything gross. He wanted to throw the box away but remembered that he was going to be late with the groceries along with it getting dark outside, meaning more criminals like the deranged Fisherman fought him back at the market. Placing the mysterious boxed head in the cart with his groceries, Slobster ran down the street corner and back to the apartment where he'd show them the food that he had gotten to of handing Kite Man his mysterious gift that an ex-girlfriend of his gave to him.
Next Morning-Noonan's Bar
Morning had come to Gotham City and the crew was able to bring in several items and supplies that would be needed to help keep Noonan relevant and not let it fall into obscurity. Kite Man was inside looking around at the tables, his pool table, and that of his counter where he'd be selling drinks to customers who would come in and see him greeting them with a friendly smile.
"Get this rat-smelling human out of here, Kite Man! He smells worse than a garbage bin!"
Spinner shouted at one of the patrons as it was a costumed man with the number six symbol on his head with the addition of smelling drunk and wasted. The Seaviate was having trouble withstanding the smell coming off from the drunkard as he was ready to throw him out the window, but Kite Man stopped the swordfish from injuring one of their customers.
"That's Six Pack, he always drunk. As well as a long-time patron of Noonan's, like a celebrity. If anything, put him on the other side so he could sleep."
He explained to the aggressive sea creature as Spinner grumbled while carrying the drunk human to the back and dropped him in the chairs so no one would notice him. With that being handled, the new owner heard the sound of tools being used in the back as he remembered the present that Venus had given Slobster to give to him as a means of aiding him in anything. Heading to the backroom to see what was happening, Charles saw Noonan working on the head that was in the box.
"While I am grateful for being helped by a human who knows his way around tools, this body might not be able to do any activities while I'm assisting here."
The metalhead Informed Noonan that he was Professor Zayton Honeycutt, but to his friends, he was called the Fugitoid. A former human and colleague of Harley Quinn who had reluctantly decided to study the world of masked men and women as well as accidentally being captured by Lex Luthor and used as a weapon for one of his inventions. Noonan didn't seem to care as he was making the head a body made out of old machines and robot parts that were left behind during the numerous attacks that had happened in his bar.
"Yeah? Well, I'm Bruce Wayne with a big-ass check that's worth a million dollars. So, suck it up with what I have."
Noonan informed the professor about how his new body was hand-me-down machine parts that he'd had managed to craft a body for Fugitoid. Kite Man saw the handcrafted body for Zayton as the professor attempted to stand up on his new feet, the Fugitoid was having difficulty keeping his balance due to how misshapen his body was.
"It looks great. It'll fit the bar's theme of being a home for the unusual and obscure to come down for a drink or two. And with the money will be making, will get you a new body. Stat of the art with Bluetooth and all the best apps on it."
Kite Man explained to the Fugitoid that it would be a temporary body until they made enough money to help his new coworker and friend. With that being confirmed and decided to look around the bar to see if he couldn't get things working properly, Noonan looked upset with how Kite Man was being too optimistic about owning the bar that has had a history of violence and criminals coming to have an afternoon brawl.
"Kid. As much as I admire a can-do attitude, that shit will get you killed if you're not careful with how your going be looking after the place. Including trying to get people to come to this rat den."
The former owner explained to Charles in a serious tone that it would take a lot of money and attraction to bring customers to the bar. While it was rough to hear about the place not being up to date and considered old school to most of its established customers, it didn't stop him from thinking about ways to bring in new people and money to keep the place running. Before he could share one of his ideas with Noonan, they heard someone stepping inside the bar which made Kite Man excited to see who would be his first customer. Rushing back inside in an excited manner to the counter table, Kite Man saw the first customer of the bar was one of the former members from the Legion of Doom to Harley's outlaw team, Bane.
"Tequila. On the rocks."
He spoke in a tired tone as Kite Man nodded at the request and attempted to make the large man his drink he looked around the shelves to find the bottle. Noonan watched from the side to see if he could manage to serve someone a drink by himself if there weren't any coworkers around to help him out and being watched at his performance. He stumbles a bit before getting the drink and putting it in a glass with ice he hands it over to Bane, with the addition of a straw since he wasn't fond of removing his mask.
"How have things been big guy?"
Kite man asked in an attempt to start his first bar counter conversation since that was one of the important things in owning a bar, learning to have a conversation with a customer. Noonan said nothing and watched to see how it would play out, and avoid getting hit since bar conversations can go wrong at any moment.
"Not well. As you probably might have heard through Tawny Young, Poison Ivy has made tidal waves over Luthor and caused him to have a mental breakdown on the moon. In addition to killing the Jons, he's going off doing who knows what to get back at her. I had to quit because of how mad he was becoming."
He explained that his ex-girlfriend was causing all kinds of hell for the millionaire businessman and causing him to act recklessly. Charles could tell that was new coming from Pamela since the one who would be responsible for that was Harley, meaning that whatever was going on with the plant woman had gotten underneath Luthor's skin. What surprised him again was Bane quitting the Legion since he was one of their strongest members and responsible for breaking Batman's back.
"All I can do now is start job hunting for another career. Shame that nowadays it isn't as easy as it was back in the old days, everyone has instant purchasing of weapons and soldiers."
Bane continued his talk about needing to find another position for someone of his natural skills since most villains have resources without needing to hire mercenaries like Bane. With that being announced and a smile growing on his face, Noonan noticed the expression that Kite Man was getting and was signaling him to not do whatever he was thinking about.
"You can work here with us. While will have enough muscle for bouncers, it can also be a place where people will get to meet you up close and see if you can get hired by them. It's a win-win for both of us."
Kite Man offered a position for the former legionnaire member to work here part-time while seeing if any well-maintenance customers would be looking for hired help that Bane could do on his own. The masked man gave Kite Man a questionable look sounding idiotic since the bar's reputation was terrible, it also would be a great spot to socialize with everyone and keep a low profile from the GCPD since they would want to question him about Luthor's intention.
"Fine. But I don't do cleaning or cooking, I already do that in the room where I'm staying with several roommates."
Accepting the deal and finishing his drink, he then shows his hand toward Kite Man to make this an official agreement. The new owner shakes Bane's hand and feels his bones breaking at the man's immense strength but does not show any signs of pain while nodding to his newly hired help feel welcomed at Noonan's. Deciding to leave and go on his way, Kite Man silently screamed as he walked over to the ice box and placed his hand in it since he was in an extreme amount of pain.
"That was stupid as hell. You just got the place and have barely made money, you can start hiring people without money to pay them with. One of the things about running a bar? Make sure you have the balls to keep your promises."
Noonan warned him about being unable to pay Bane during his part-time shift here while he was searching for jobs that would hire someone like him. Kite Man could see that it was true he didn't have any money at the moment; he'd still make it during his time here and find ways to get the places noticed in the criminal neighborhood. Before he could respond to the old man, the doors opened up showing Lex Luthor who was holding a briefcase and having a cold expression on his face.
"The rumors are true; you are running this place. I was planning on tearing it down to make a shoe store, but the circumstances have changed since there have been certain issues that need my urgent attention. So, I came by to offer my congratulations and something to help make this transition go smoothly."
The millionaire man stated that Kite Man didn't know how to respond since his hand was still on the ice box. Taking it out so he could look professional, Charles saw Luthor walking over to him and providing a check for a whole lot of money to help get drinks and refurbish the interior. Placing the briefcase by the side, Charles could see in exchange for the money he'd take the briefcase for safety reasons as he touched the top of the case.
"Make sure this is kept in a safe space. And nobody looks in it."
Warning Kite Man about the dangerous contents that were kept within the briefcase. Responding to Luthor with a nod, he was given the check and briefcase as he saw Luthor making his way out of the bar while pressing the side of his watch that singled his power suit. Landing in front of Noonan's Bar, he stepped inside and took into the air like a rocket as Kite Man watched him go off in epic departure.
"What was Luthor doing here?"
A voice spoke from behind Kite Man as the owner looked over seeing Golden Glider and the Seaviates appearing tired from the things they were moving into the bar. The kite-themed man showed the trio his check to make Noonan better than before as it made them excited at it being enough to get things finished easily and swiftly.
"He just came in and gave me a briefcase to look after. But this is a sign of good things coming for us, as long as we keep our heads up high and make this bar popular again. There is nothing, that can stop us."
He gave his friends confidence that they had to keep up, it would be easy sailing with how they would run the bar. Golden Glider smiled at his optimism along with Slobster since him getting a large amount of money was a sign that he and Spinner would get benefits if they stuck with Kite Man. The swordfish Seaviate didn't fall for it but kept his thoughts to himself since it was a good moment that Charles was having, it be a shame to ruin it. Fortunately, he didn't have to since they heard someone stumbling out of the bar as it was the Fugitoid who was acting up and about to fall apart.
"How's that 'keeping our heads up' statement going again?"
Spinner questioned Kite Man as the four rushed over to check if the professor was alright as he was pointing upward at the sky where the clouds started to cover the sky. It continued to block out the sun to the point where everything started to lose color as it caused people across the street to freak out at what was happening. The Fugitoid tried to readjust himself and his new body as he tried to explain about the unusual circumstances happening.
"Luthor has used the Earth Savior device I was a part of when Ivy learned about being in the machine. Without me to help maintain the energy output, it's backfired and covered the atmosphere in smoke."
Explaining about the device was doing to the sky which didn't matter at the moment since they were looking at another sight that made them speechless. It was boom-tubes opening up out of the clouds that sent down legions of Para-Demons as they started to attack the city as well as kill the civilians. Before reacting to the arrival of an demonic army, they saw another arrival from the sky coming down as it appeared alien with their unique designs and heavy weaponry. They continued to look at the sky in terror before hearing the sound of a shotgun being loaded from behind as it came from Noonan who seemed ready for what's coming.
"Guess you'll be needing that money after the hell we're about to experience, boss."
Noonan taunted Kite Man that his moment of joy went downhill with the sudden alien invasion coming from out of nowhere and plunging Gotham City to chaos. Kite Man said nothing but gripped Golden Glider's hand since this was the second time he was involved in a Para-Demon attack, it was pure luck that he was able to make it out of it. He didn't know if his new business along with his new girlfriend and friends would be able to survive this encounter during their first week as bar owners.
"This takes place after Ivy and Bebop traveled to the moon during the MalCon convention and going into the Earth suffering through Lex's machine. Comment are welcome if there questions that wished to be answered."
