The image of the portal changed to a very large room, somewhere inside the planet. On the roof of the room was large pipes and I caught a glimpse of something purple. I looked at Jim and he shrugged. He walked towards the portal and stuck his arm through it. Its face rippled as he walked through it. I extended my arm towards the portal and hesitantly shoved my arm in it. The sensation of the portal was what I could describe was cold and tingly. I walked through the surface and looked at Jim in confusion. Silver stuck his arms through, a hand landing on one of our shoulders as he walked through and past us.
I looked at the ground and saw a red beam of light. My heart jumped in my throat. What is about to occur will be more scary than a supernova. I walked on, not caring that I cut the beam for a moment. We all walked forward, with the Yzma look alike shouting at us to wait for her. When we got to the edge of the platform everyone gasped at the sight in front of us. My mouth fell agape and I was smiling. This has to be one of the most incredible things I've seen in my life. The pirates cheered and ran towards the treasure as Silver took in a breath. "The loot of a thousand worlds." He said.
It was indeed a fitting name for Flint's loot. The pirates were grabbing as much as they could carry but it wouldn't be enough. The entire inner core of the planet was covered in nothing but wealth. There were gold drabloons, gems of every kind, chests full of riches and other things of wealth, some in piles. The pips on the roof shot purple lasers into holes in the core to keep it turning. Silver walked off towards the treasure, leaving Jim, B.E.N, and I at the platform. "We're going to need a bigger boat!" The lookout yelled. No, an entire fleet will be needed to carry it back.
I stared at the treasure until B.E.N snapped me from my stupor. "This is all seeming very familiar." He said. "I can't remember why."
"You've been here before." I said. "That's why it's familiar to you."
"I guess. Oh if only I had my mind! I would know for sure!"
"B.E.N, Emma, come on." Jim said as he nudged us. "We're getting out of here and we're not leaving empty handed." He started walking towards a run down medium sized ship with red sails that had holes in them. It was Flint's ship. I started following him, stopping every now and then to pick up a gem or piece of gold. I would stuff it in my pocket before continuing along.
"But, but Jimmy and Emmie! Jimmy and Emmie!" B.E.N said as he hurried to catch up to us. Whe we got to the ship, Jim jumped on the side and grabbed onto the ledge. He leaned down and grabbed my arms as I pulled myself up. We both leaned down to get B.E.N. "Do you know what's strange?" He asked as he hauled him up. "I can't tell you how frustrating this is, Jimmy and Emmie cause there's something just, it's nagging at the back of my mind." He screamed as he saw something behind us and fell into the ship. We both turned to see what made him scream and stopped in our tracks.
"Captain Flint?" Jim said.
"In the flesh!" B.E.N said as he stood up. A purple laser flashed nearby giving us a perfect view of his skeleton. "Well, sort of, except for skin, organs or anything that, that, that resembles flesh that's not there."
"So I guess this is what happens when you let your greed get the better of you." I said as Jim and I walked up to the skeleton for a better look at it. I looked at Jim and he nodded in agreement with what I said. "Hey, what's that?" I asked, pointing at something clenched in the skeleton's hand.
"And yet it's so odd you know? I mean, I remember there was something horrible Flint didn't want anyone else to know, but I can't remember what it was. Oh a mind is a terrible thing to lose!" The robot started sobbing a little. As he talked Jim, grabbed the object in Flint's hand. I cringed when I saw him break the finger bones to free it. We both looked at it then at B.E.N, whose back of the head was perfectly in view. The shapes match.
"B.E.N, I think we found your mind."
Jim walked up to him and grabbed the back of his head. "Hold still." He said.
B.E.N flinched a little. "Jimmy, your hands are very, very cold back there." He said. When the wires connected to the piece, it immediately flew back into place. He turned around to us with a shocked expression. "Whoa!" His voice sounded a little disoriented and his eyes pixelated from green to blue. "Hello." His voice now sounded normal. We both stared at him in anticipation. "You know guys, I was just thinking. I was just think... it's all flooding back! All my memories!" We both smiled as he regained his memories. "Right up until Flint pulled my memory circuits, so I could never tell anybody about his booby trap!" That's when an explosion went off. "Speaking of which." We looked up to more explosions running along one of the pipes, the orange glow of fire bathing the room.
"Flint wanted to make sure that nobody could ever steal his treasure, so he rigged this whole planet to blow HIGHER THAN A KALEPSIAN KITE!" The explosions cut off one of the largest pipes. It fell and cut the metal ground in slits. They broke away from each other as riches started to fall. The lasers went haywire, cutting through the ground and destroying more treasure. The crew started running away in fear. "Run kids! Run for your lives!" He grabbed onto one of our arms in a panic.
I looked at the two of them. Jim looked at B.E.N. "You and Emma go back and help the captain and Doc!" The teenager said. He ran to the control panel and ducked under it. He briefly looked at us before going back under. "If I'm not there in five minutes, leave without me." He started messing around with the wires, trying to hot wire the engine. I saw Morph shaking in fear and I held my hands out to him. He immediately flew into them and I started petting him.
B.E.N immediately went and grabbed his legs. "I am not leaving my buddy Jimmy!" He said as he dragged him out. Jim had a death glare on his face as the wires he held sparked. If the robot wouldn't leave soon, then he'll use those wires to make him lose his memory. Again. "Unless he looks at me like that. Bye Jim!" He dropped his legs and took off.
"Emma go!" Jim said.
"Not without you." I said. "Tell me what I need to do."
"You—"
"Please, let me do this!"
"I can't—"
"I don't wanna be useless anymore! Please tell me what I need to do!"
After a moment of silence he sighed. "Go and make sure the sails are rigged. Then I want you at the helm. Understand?"
"Yes sir!" I took off running to the sails, and started rigging them. I got them rigged as fast as I could. Once they were rigged I jumped onto the deck just as Jim finished hot wiring it. We both started pressing buttons to turn on the engine. I pressed a button, feeling the ship rumble as the engine started. It started to die out a little so I hit it again, this time harder. The engine started and I grabbed the helm, turning it towards the portal.
"Yes!" Jim said. "Guys, we are so out of here!"
Morph cheered as I focused on what was ahead of me. I turned around hearing a familiar voice. "Ah, Jimbo and Em!" We both saw Silver standing on the edge of the railing before he stepped onto the deck. "Aren't you two the seventh wonder of the universe?" He added as he started walking towards us.
Jim saw a sword in a pile of gold and quickly pulled it out. He pointed the blade at Silver, standing in between me and him. "Get back!" He said. "Not another step towards me and my sister!" Silver looked surprised when he heard 'sister', but that surprised expression quickly turned to a dark one.
"I like you lad and lass." The cyborg said. He started walking towards us again, more slowly. "But I've come too far to let you two stand between me and me treasure." Jim took steps back until his back crashed into mine. I glanced at his face and saw that he was scared. I gulped as the older man grew closer, his cybernetic eye turning red. My heart was beating rapidly, wondering what would happen. I failed to see that I had taken us straight to a laser. It struck the side of the ship, sending us over board.
