The next day, when I got up, my hand was starting to get swollen. I knew it was from that splinter. I could barely move it all of sudden. The worse part is this is my writing hand (I'm right handed). Not sure how I can be like this at church. I hope I can still help Dad out this week- good thing the other girls offered to help.

Down there, Sharon said, "We'll be taking Jeff to the airport before we go spend time with my parents for the day."

"Okay," said Dad.

"Do you and Mary Anne want to join us?" asked Sharon.

"We would like to, but we already made plans after mass," said Dad.

"We can take two cars," said Sharon.

"Speaking of Mary Anne, where is she? We'll have to leave for church soon," said Dad.

"I'm not sure," said Jeff.

That was when I came down after I got dressed to show Dad.

"I had just noticed it when I got up this morning," I said.

"I can check it out, honey," said Dad.

He was looking for his reading glasses.

"I'll have to get them. I think I left them on the table," said Dad.

"Here," said Dawn as she came out with them.

"Oh, thank you," said Dad as he was putting him on. "It looks like you're getting a blister."

"I wonder if it caused by that splinter," I said.

"I bet you're right. I'll see if your doctor can fit you in. I'll have to go give him a call," said Dad.

He went to go make a phone call in the den.

"That's strange. You caught that just in time," said Dawn.

"I know. That was my first time to have a splinter," I said.

I went to finish getting ready. Dad came out two minutes later. "Dr. Wellington can fit Mary Anne in towards the end of church. That's the only time he can see her, so we'll need to leave in the middle of it, Sharon."

"No problem," said Sharon.

"We can still do our own thing after that," said Dad.

At church, it was a bit tough to handle the pain during mass. I usually use the bible book, but I couldn't handle it during that time. He and I left during communion.

At the office, Dr. Wellington was taking a look on my hand and said, "I can see why it's red. You have a blister."

"Did it caused by that splinter I had yesterday?" I asked.

"Probably," said the doctor.

"It was a good thing I called you," said Dad.

"I know," said Dr. Wellington. "I'm going have to burst it and put the bandage on it. Just a little warning: it may hurt."

He took a pin and burst it. It didn't hurt. It started to bleed a bit, so he made it stop before putting the bandage around my hand.

"I'll excuse you from Gym for a while," said the doctor. "I'll write the date for when you can return to Gym."

He wrote it down before giving it to me.

"Thanks. I'll give it to the Gym teacher first thing I get there," I said putting it in my purse.

"I'd also suggest you skip a meeting because I don't want you to over do it," said Dr. Wellington.

"How about baby-sitting?" I asked.

"I think you should wait for now, too," said the doctor.

"How long?" I asked.

"Probably for at least two weeks," said the doctor. "I'll call Kristy to let her know when we leave here."

"In case of pain, you should stay off that so you can just ice it and take anything to help," said the doctor.

"We have Aleve," I said.

"That works," said the doctor. "If you see anything that's bothering you, you can either call or text me anytime even while you're in school and I can take you in."

"Alright," I said.

After we left, I called Kristy to tell her about what was going on.

"He didn't want me to baby-sit anyway," I said.

"Do you know how long?" asked Kristy.

"My doctor say it would be at least two more weeks," I said.

"Understandable," said Kristy.

"I'll tell Dawn to take over," I said.

"No problem," said Kristy.

At the mall, we went to the food court for lunch first.

"I won't expect you to help if your hand gets sore," said Dad.

The problem is that I'd be bored out of my mind if I don't get to help Dad.

"I'll see how it goes," I said.

"I'm just more worried about your hand," said Dad. "I'll be excusing from other chores for now."

We went to JC Penny for the bed covers after lunch. I picked the basketball comfortable that includes the sheets and pillowcases for both twin beds while getting more bed covers for the other beds. I was using my good hand to carry things. I just wanted to be helpful. We went to Sleepy's from there.

At Sleepy's Mattress Store, we found a lot of nice, perfect mattresses, so we were all set. I showed them a picture of my bed, Dawn's, and Jeff's in the meantime. They had those beds like that, which is nice.

"Do you mind if we can make the deliver later this week while we remodel the attic?" asked Dad.

"We can do that," said the clerk as he looked at the computer. "How about Thursday?"

"That would give us time to clean the attic," I said.

"I agree," said Dad.

"I know we talked about letting Carlos do whatever he wants to do in his room, but I wonder if it would be easier if we can do the wallpaper before we put those nightstand and drawers," I said.

"You got a good point," said Dad. "We can go pick up wallpaper while we're there."

"We can also buy a lamp in the meantime," I said.

At Wal-Mart, we found a drawer with two mixed sports since Carlos likes both basketball and baseball. Same with the nightstand. We had someone put them in his van. I only found basketball wallpaper, but that will work. Then, we went home. At home, we brought everything in. I put the lamp with the cover and the curtains in the living room.

"We can leave the nightstand and drawer in the van for tonight," said Dad.

"Okay," I said.

"I'm thinking we can put them in the living room with the others either tomorrow or the day after," said Dad.

"Maybe Logan can help you bringing it in," I said.

"Sure, that would be great," said Dad.

"We can save curtains for last after we finish cleaning the attic," I said.
