Chapter 13

A/N: Hey guys! Sorry about not writing for so long. I finished watching Teen Wolf halfway through what I've written and I lost inspiration :(
Anyway, I'm back now, and I hope y'all enjoy the new chapter. :)
P.S.: I'm rewatching it already. Yay! :D

Artemis leapt into battle against people she'd never seen before and people who used to be her friends. She fought hard but it was difficult.

Usually, Artemis wouldn't care about killing a few people here or there, but this time, she was determined not to kill anyone; not just because Scott said so—who was she to listen to some "True Alpha"—but because she was better than Becky. Artemis would so rub it in her face afterwards, See Becky? I can win without killing my enemy's loved ones.

Artemis was fighting a girl a little younger than her that she'd never met before. She punched and kicked and was a bit reluctant to claw at her but she did. Eventually, she was holding the girl down on the ground with her claws at her throat. Looking into the girl's eyes, Artemis could see the great amount of fear there. She hesitated for a bit, deciding what she should do; but in that time, someone came from behind and pulled her off, slamming her to the ground. Artemis was immediately back into fighting mode as she jumped up only to have her wrists pinned together with one of her assailant's hands and their other arm jammed on her neck, choking her, as they pushed her against the wall.

Now that everything wasn't a blur, Artemis could see who it was,
"Daniel!" she exclaimed as she started struggling, "Let me go!"
"Hey, babe. I'm sorry, I just wanna let you know, this isn't one of those 'If I can't have her no one can' situations. I'm just following—"
He got interrupted by someone howling, by the looks of Becky's pack, it was her. All the fighting stopped, including the hunters. Artemis couldn't see what was happening but she could hear Scott saying,
"Wait, let him go. You don't have to do this."
Then Becky's voice, "Tsk, tsk, True Alpha Scott McCall, you've never killed before, you wouldn't understand."
"Why is it always me?" someone else said, it might have been Liam but Artemis couldn't be sure.

Then she saw the crowd of werewolves part and Becky was walking towards her, pulling someone along with her claws to their throat. Becky stopped right in front of Artemis and she could finally see who it was, Liam. Scott had followed Becky and said,
"Let him go, take me instead."
"Come on," Becky replied with a teasing voice, "How stupid do you think I am? No, I think I'll stick with this little cutie."
She took Liam's face with the hand that wasn't about to rip his throat out and squeezed his cheeks the way one's grandma would. Liam let out a low growl.
"Now, now, puppy. Don't misbehave, I won't hesitate to kill you, I just rather wouldn't."
Becky let go and tapped Liam's nose before repositioning him in her grip so he couldn't get away.

Artemis decided to interject then, "What do you want, bitch!"
"Oh! Language, Artemis. You be careful what you say to your elders. Especially if they're about to kill your friend."
Artemis glared at Becky, a glare that would turn anyone else into stone.
"What do you want?" She asked again.
Becky smiled before answering, "I want your dead body at my feet and your blood on my hands."

"That's not gonna happen," a voice came from behind Becky and she turned, only to get a fire extinguisher to the face. Everyone gasped not expecting that, they all kind of just froze. Everyone except Stiles, who was the one who had attacked Becky; Becky, who fell to the ground, not quite unconscious; and Liam, who, while Becky was falling, had gotten her claws along his neck. He fell to his knees, holding his throat, blood flowing between his fingers before he fell to the ground, unmoving.

Daniel was shocked by the ordeal so Artemis was able to kick him, making him let her go, when he tried to grab her again, Artemis turned her stony glare at him and said
"If he dies," she gestured to Liam, "you are going to be so sorry. Believe you me."
Daniel raised his arms defensively and backed away.
Artemis ran to Liam and joined, Scott, Stiles, Lydia, and Malia kneeling next to his body which they had flipped onto his back.
"No, no no no no no," tears started blurring Artemis's vision as she touched Liam's face and neck, searching for a sign of life. She tried his wrists, no pulse. She put her ear on his chest, no heartbeat.
"No, Liam please. No, I'm sorry. Liam!"

Artemis heard movement behind her and turned to see Becky stand up. Artemis turned her reflexes on high, pretending not to have seen her. Suddenly, Stiles, who was to the right of Artemis, was pulled backward. Artemis whipped around, standing up, in time to see Becky dragging Stiles on the ground, looking to head for the door. She was muttering almost inaudibly,
"I'll teach you to mess with the Alpha… Hit me with a freaking fire extinguisher… Oo, you are done for human."
Stiles tried to struggle but her grip was too strong and she had him by the neck
Artemis ran and jumped at Becky, tackling her to the ground. Becky was lying on her back with Artemis sitting on top of her,
"I hate you!" she yelled as she started slashing at her ex-friend's face, tears streaming freely,
"You killed him! How could you! I hate you!"

Stiles must have hit something loose with that fire extinguisher because Becky barely fought back, she only laughed and said,
"I'm glad I got to torture you. One. Last. Time." Artemis stopped, She wants this, she wants me to kill her, she realised, She wants me to regret it, to feel guilty.

Artemis calmly stood up, wiping her bloody hands off on her pants.
"Not today, Becky. You do not win today,"
Artemis said and she then helped Stiles up from the floor before going back to Liam's lifeless body. She knelt down and glanced at Scott with a hopeful look in her eyes,
"Is he okay?"
"I don't know," Scott said, "I kind of hear a heartbeat but it's fading."
"Isn't he supposed to heal, like really quickly?" Stiles asked.
"Yeah," Scott answered, "but sometimes it's too much. Especially from an alpha, those take longer to heal."

They all looked down at Liam and Artemis felt her eyes begin to well up with tears. She didn't realise until then that she actually liked Liam. Like, like liked him. Classic story, she thought to herself, starting to realise your true feelings for someone while they're lying on their death bed. She suddenly remembered something her parents had taught her when she was younger.
"Wait!" she shouted, grabbing Scott's arm as he was getting up, "won't taking away his pain help him heal faster?"
"It worked with someone else before but I'm not sure if it'll be enough this time."
"Shouldn't we at least try?"
"It wouldn't hurt," another voice cut in that you didn't recognise.
"Dr. Deaton?" Scott turned around, surprised, "what are you doing here?"
"I was closing up the clinic when Derek called me, he said I might be needed," the vet looked down at Liam and continued, "Seems it's a good thing I came."
Scott saw how confused Artemis was and added,
"This is my boss. He owns the animal clinic and seems to know everything about the supernatural world."
"Good to know. So are we gonna do it?"

"Yeah," Scott knelt down again and called over Malia to help.
The three of them each held on to Liam's arms or legs and started concentrating, trying to draw the pain out of him. Artemis saw the veins in her arms become black and could feel pain.
"It's working," she said, straining.
"Don't be too hopeful yet," the vet guy said.
Concentrating again, Artemis soon got tired and she felt a hand on her shoulder; it was her brother, Marcus; Matthew was standing behind him,
"Let us help," he said, and they each took hold of Liam and helped take his pain away.

After about three more minutes, Malia said,
"This isn't working," and let go of Liam's leg.
Suddenly, Liam coughed and sat up quickly; he looked around, confused, and touched his neck, flinching, before his eyes rolled back in his head and he fell to the floor again.
"Um... What just happened?" Lydia asked.
"I believe," the doctor said, "that Mr. Dunbar will be alright. He just needs some time to heal fully."

A/N: Thanks to everyone who came back to read this chapter. I can't believe how long it took me to pick it back up again. Unfortunately, the story is almost finished, but I hope to bring back Artemis with more exciting adventures. Enjoy the next few chapters when they come out and don't forget to check out the Teen Wolf one-shots I tried to write for Whumptober. I only have one so far but the second is nearly done and I will be updating and adding more throughout the year.
