Chapter 9

Sam had finally finished the security videos and was sure he had found their prime suspect. The bad thing was there was no facial view of him since he kept his back to the cameras or held his hand up to cover his face. He was waiting for Ash to get back to him with hopefully additional information.

"Where's Bobby?" Dean asked as he walked into the kitchen.

"Got a towing job. He should be back any time," Sam replied not looking up from his reading. "Do you want something to eat?"

"I'm good and I don't need waited on anymore."

"So, your headaches are gone and the stiffness and pain in your side and back has disappeared?" Sam questioned as he slowly raised his gaze to look at Dean skeptically.

"I'm fine," Dean snipped deciding he would try coffee and see if he could drink it now. He grimaced with the first sip thinking it tasted bitter and foul. He wrinkled his nose and decided not to drink anymore. After pouring the coffee down the sink, Dean stepped to the fridge for a Gatorade or ginger ale.

"Have a protein drink bro. You've haven't eaten much, and it will help give you some needed nutrition."

"Fine, Mom," Dean huffed. He looked in the door of the fridge to see what flavors were there and pulled a bottle out. "Are you making any progress?"

"I'm sure I've found the guy, but there's not a frame where his face is shown. It's like he intentionally hid it. He must have checked the places out and knew where all the cameras were."

"And Ash hasn't got back with you yet?"

"No. I hope he has more luck than me."

They looked at the doorway when the front door opened and shut. Sam stiffened slightly as his hand felt for his gun that wasn't there. He relaxed as Bobby stomped into the room with a sour, angry look on his face.

"What's wrong Bobby?" Dean asked sensing his mood.

"I just got a call from Jody. Another person has gone missing," he spat out.

"Crap!" Sam muttered.

"Damnit!" Dean snorted slamming his hand on the table. "We need to move this case along faster."

"I'm calling Ash to see if he's got anything," Sam decided, getting up to find his cell and make the call.

"Sam said he thinks he's found the guy but can't get a facial pic of him."

"Maybe we need to check out rental properties that are isolated around the town," Dean suggested. "If this guy is a monster, he would want a place to take his victims where no one would see them. When did the first person disappear?" he asked Bobby as he pulled Sam's laptop around where he could use it.

"Hold on, let me get the files." Bobby stepped from the room and went to his office for the information. He came back and handed Dean the file.

"Thanks," Dean nodded flipping the folder open and searching for the first missing person case. "Okay, now let's see if I can remember how to do this…" Dean trailed off as he started typing on the laptop.

"What are you doing?" Sam asked cautiously when he saw Dean on his laptop. He was sure he wasn't looking for porn since Bobby was there too.

"I'm trying to set up a search for rental properties in the area," Dean answered. "I figure this guy got here a week or so before he started looking for victims so he could set up his lair."

"Good thinking," Sam nodded, moving to where he could see the screen. "Yeah, he'd want a place to take the victims once he's kidnapped them."

"There can't be that many places that are remote and isolated; I hope anyway. Did you get Ash?"

"Yeah, he'll have something later this afternoon."

"So, we may be taking a drive later this evening," Bobby surmised. "Better go check my weapon's cache."

"Do you have any dead man's blood?" Sam asked. "We should make up some syringes and sharpen the machetes and knives. We should load our guns with silver bullets."

"You do the syringes, and I'll get the blades ready," Bobby told Sam.

"Make it three," Dean butted in.

"I told you before, you're not ready to hunt yet," Sam said in a firm voice. "You are staying here when Bobby and I go out. No arguing either. Back me up here Bobby."

"Sam's right son. You're not at a hundred percent yet and we'd be more worried about you than doing the job. That's a good way for someone to get hurt or worse. Best you sit this one out."

"Right, gang up on the puny feeling person why don't you," Dean whined as he pouted.

"You can go on the next one when you're better and if you behave," Sam teased, talking to Dean like he was a kid.

"Bite me," Dean snarled curling his lip from his teeth and growling at Sam.

Sam just laughed at him and got up to go find syringes and the dead man's blood Bobby had hidden away in the basement. He had a small fridge tucked in a corner where he kept things that needed refrigerated, like lamb's blood and dead man's blood.

Sam looked toward his jacket as his cell began to ring and hurried to it to answer the call.

"Hello," Sam greeted the caller.

"Sam, sorry it took so long, I did a little extra snooping around and I think I've found your guy," Ash replied in his laid-back voice. It was hard to tell if he was just high or had had a few beers.

"That's great Ash, can you send me what you have to my email?" Sam said as his body tensed with excitement. Hopefully this would give them the information they needed about the stranger and where to find him.

"Will do good buddy."

"Can you give me a quick summary?"

"I found a camera that gave me the license plate number and traced that to a guy called Simon Van Breacher. The strange thing is this Van Breacher has no history, nil, zip, nada," Ash paused for affect. "It's like he just appeared five months ago in a town about five hundred miles southeast of Sioux Falls. Stayed there for three months before moving to Sioux Falls. He's been there a little over a month."

"Tell me you found his address," Sam questioned.

"I do and boom, you should have everything I found on this guy. Check your email."

"Okay, let me get my laptop." Sam went back to the kitchen and woke up his laptop so he could go online and to his email account. He opened it and found an email with several attachments waiting on him. "Yeah Ash, I got it. Thanks, dude you're a lifesaver. I owe you a beer when we get down your way."

"Sounds good to me dude. Adios," Ash said before hanging up.

"Was that Ash?" Dean asked when Sam hung up his cell.

"Yes and he did his magic and got us a name for the guy from the nightclub. It's Simon Van Breacher."

"Van Breacher, man, even the name sounds rich."

"I don't think that's his real name from what Ash found. Can't find anything on him prior to five months ago." Sam began to open the attachments and read through them one by one. "Here, find a map and see if you can find this address," Sam instructed Dean after he scribbled an address down.

"Alright," Dean answered going to a buffet and looking in the drawers until he found one. He unfolded it on the table and read what Sam had written and used the index to find the road. He ran his fingers from the letter and number along until they met and found it. "Got it. The road is on the outskirts of Sioux Falls. It's isolated and just what a kidnapper or killer would want."

"I checked the previous town that Van Breacher lived in, and there were seven missing person cases while he was there. None were solved and no bodies were never found. They're cold cases now."

"Are you sure he's not just a serial killer?"

"No, there's more to him. I can sense it."

"And you're going tonight to this address and confront the asshole when you don't know exactly what he is? You know he could be more dangerous and stronger at night. I'm not liking this at all Sammy," Dean complained as he tried to control his emotions as he paced the kitchen. "Maybe you should wait until you know more."

"We can't, hopefully we can save some of the victims and we need to stop him from kidnapping anyone else. I've narrowed down the monster to a werewolf, vampire, or ghoul. At least that's my best guesses. We're going in prepared."

"Do you have your cell programed to send the bat signal if you run into trouble?"

"Yes, it's on speed dial, one touch and it'll alert you."

"Good. You had better call me if you get into trouble. Seriously Sammy, you call me," Dean insisted, his voice serious and firm.

Sam stopped what he was doing and looked up into Dean's stern face knowing he was being very serious.

"Yeah, okay, I'll reach out," Sam assured him. "It'll be okay Dean."

Dean pinched his lips together and made sure Sam was telling him the truth, before looking at the map again. He traced a route from the salvage yard to the road and wrote it down trying to be helpful since he wasn't going with them. Every cell in his body was telling him to put his foot down and demand to go too. But then what Bobby said came back to him, he knew the older hunter was right. He could get someone hurt or killed and he wouldn't do that. Sam couldn't be partnering with anyone more experienced and skilled than Bobby.

Sam briefed Bobby when he came back, and they got ready to head out once it was dark. Dean stood on the porch and watched the Impala's back up lights disappear. He stood in the dark for a few minutes longer, before turning and going back into the house to wait. And that was something he didn't do well.
