Chapter- 6

It was Teddys third birthday. Little Vicky, short for Victorie was two years old. She had been named so as she was born on the date when the second wizarding war had been won. Her birthdate was a reminder of the pain, and the relief, the struggle and the success. It was a bittersweet deal which Vic was ofcourse completely unaware about. But it showed that there was new life after death, death was never the end.. there would always be something new worth living for.

Currently Teddy and Victorie were playing in the grass in the quidditch pitch outside the burrow. It was supposedly their favorite spot as they spent most of their time there playing with toys and teddy-bears or chasing each other around on their little brooms or playing hide and seek. Teddy was irked by Vickys constant need to host parties and Victorie upturned her nose in disapproval in an exact replica of Fleur when she saw Ted get his hands and feet muddy by splashing around in the rain, "Teddy thats gross, go clean yurself et dont touch me wiv those 'ands". Her french accent was something else that annoyed Teddy to no end, he just couldnt fathom why she could not speak normally. Little did he know it would grow on him over the years and he would adore it after a while.

Teddy was throwing a ball for Vicky to catch. Victorie complained why she couldnt throw the ball and he could catch it, but Teddy said in a tone full of superiority that he was older hence knew the best about what to do. And according to him the best thing was for Vicky to listen to what he said. Which extended to every game they played and it drove her nuts. "You are on-lee un yair uldair. You are not le boss of me!"

"I am responsible for you Vicky, if something happens to you I am answerable"

"Sais who, ai can tak care of myself alrigh", she hissed fiercely her silvery hair coating her face. Teddy stiffled back a laughter and that did it for Vic, she strode away with a scoff (or what we can call as a scoff for a 2 year old) in disdain with her head held high. Ted immediately felt bad for having upset Vicky. She was his best friend and he had been behaving like a jerk. Besides, it was his birthday and he didnt want to fight with her today.

Birthdays in the Weasley household were religious occasions, especially for the kids.. and Harry, which was made sure by Ginny and Molly since he had never gotten a proper birthday for eleven miserable years. Ginny got all fretty and hyped about his birthday and went to enormous lengths to make sure everything was perfect. It embarrassed Harry to no end.. and Ron would make it worse by taking the mickey out of him. Deep down though, Harry was happier than he thought he could ever be, and he loveddd his birthdays. At first he had been reserved and felt weird at being spoiled so much but he realised, this is exactly what anyone could ever want.. the people he had now, he could never afford to lose them.. so he leaned into it, let them spoil him, and spoil them in return, that was what life was all about. Spoil and get spoilt. Today however it was Teddys big day and Harry couldnt have been more proud yet heartbroken at how fast Teddy was growing. What would Sirius have been thinking on his third birthday if he had gotten the chance to raise Harry?

Harry was interrupted from his train of thoughts as he felt Teddy tugging on his sleeve. "Harry! I need to talk to you"

Harry smiled and picked Ted up. He sat on the sofa and put him on his lap. All those who werent helping Molly in the kitchen were scattered around the living room, looking curiously at Teddy. The radio was blaring a love song- Wand made of broken heartstrings. Hermione was singing along, engrossed in the rhythm and Ron was watching her wistfully. Ted took a look around with his eyes narrowed, as if scanning the territory and then decided to whisper to Harry, "In private". Some of the adults chuckled and raised eyebrows. Vicky just gave Teddy a dirty look and buried her head in her mothers chest. Bill looked suspicious at that but stayed quiet. Ted gave Vic a guilty look and led Harry out of the hall.

"What is it Teds? Everything okay?", Harry asked kneeling down to his eye level.

"Daddy I messed up. I made Vicky mad", Ted said in a disheartened voice, his hair turning grey. Harry noticed this and felt a pang in his chest.

"Hey its okay buddy, she will be fine. Do you wanna tell me what happened?"

"I dont know, I was telling her what to do and she didnt like it. But I am older Dad!"

"I know you are older Teddy, but that doesnt mean you should boss her around. Its not a nice thing to do okay? You should apologise to her"

Teddy was on the verge of tears at this point and Harry enveloped him in a tight hug. "Its okay Tedster just remember what I said. Its ok, you are my Teddy bear, I am not mad at you"

Ted wiped away the tears and said in a small voice, "What if she doesnt forgive me?"

"Ofcourse she will. You could.. um give her a gift maybe for good measure? Something she would like, to show her you care?"

Teddy brightened up considerably at that, "Yay I know what to give her", his hair was slowly turning pink now.. which showed Harry he was excited. Teddy rushed out and went straight to Victorie.

"Torie! I have something to show you". Vic just sulked and turned her head the other way. "Go awai Theodair". Oh no, full name.. the situation was dire. "Pleaseee", Ted did the best puppy dog eyes he could, which he normally used with Ginny when he wanted more every flavor beans or chocolate frogs than was allowed. For good measure, he also turned his hair color rainbow which he knew Vicky loved (personally he thought it looked too much). Vicky melted at that look and got up from Fleurs lap. The adults watched them with amused expressions and looked inquiringly at Harry.

As they went outside, Ted hurried straight into the apology. Vicky stood with her hands on the hips and eyes narrowed. She caved after a couple of minutes and went and hugged Ted showing she wasnt mad anymore. Teddy removed an old but very shiny and polished coin from his jeans pocket.

"Vic look, I found this at Grimmauld place in the attic! I know I wasnt supposed to go there, so dont tell dad okay? But there was loads of interesting stuff there. I just couldnt carry it all, but I took this coin. It must be so ancient". Now Vicky was looking with full interest, as she gawked at the coin. Never in her two years of life had she seen something so shiny.

"Eet eez béautiful Teddy!"

"I want you to have it", he said with a genuine smile.

"What!? Réahlly. Wow, thank yo", she immediately took the coin which was about the size of her palm and started examining it with an eye of a goblin. Ted said with a grin, "Keep it safe. And dont swallow it!", he added remembering what Ginny had once told him about small kids swallowing stuff which by the sound of it was dangerous.

3 hours later..

Vicky had been acting really odd. Teddy wasnt sure what had gotten into her. She had been perfectly fine.. around the time he gave the coin. She had been lashing out at him and acting very greedy and.. malicious, as much as Teddy hated to use that word for his best friend. Even the adults noticed something was wrong. Vic didnt obey anything her mother said and she outright ignored Bill, pretending he didnt exist. She said incredibly offensive things to everyone and then laughed as if it was a joke. And she kept handling objects very roughly, which Molly just passed as.. kids, but Fleur had had enough, she wasnt going to raise a brat.

There was a lot of tension in the air as it was time to cut Teddys cake. The adults were wary, Fleur was glaring daggers at Vicky and Bill was looking hurt. Molly was trying hard to convince herself it was just a phase and Arthur was just confused, he was the only one who suspected something was actually wrong and this wasnt his Victorie. Teddy.. he was the most affected, or atleast he thought so.. at some point when no one was around she had told him he was so wolfish it irked her. It was weird as Vic didnt even know his dad was a werewolf.. what had gotten into her? But he just tried to keep it together and get this birthday over with, he could deal with Vicky later. So he plastered a smile on his face as everyone gathered around the birthday boy.

Just as he was about to blow off the candles as everyone sand the birthday song, Vic pushed the cake off the table. "Happy birthday", she said with an evil grin. That was the last straw for Ted. With a hurt excalaimation, he told her to give the coin back.. there was something obviously wrong with it. She didnt obey and started running. Ted was right behind her. Before Bill could fully grasp what was happening, they were out of the garden, onto the road. A frickin bus was barelling down the road, Vic had no idea as she ran towards it with her head back watching Ted chase her. Teddy let out a blood curtling scream. It was too late. The adults were way too behind.

I feel like my quality of writing is deteriorating. That might just be cuz I havent been doing it much due to college and all.. on that note, sorry for being late. Anyway, do give me feedback on this chapter. I wanna know if what I suspect is actually true. And what do you think will happen to Vicky? Take care 3
