(Sabine POV)

"Ezra?"

The comforter flies from the bed, landing with a 'ploof' on the cold floor.

"Ezra! Wake up!" Through sleepy eyes, I flail out for his hand, arm, anything to keep him from thrashing around any longer.

An arm shoots out, dangerously close to catching a cheap shot to the face. Brushing the hair out of my face, I rub my eyes.

Now I'm awake.

Throwing my leg over, I straddle his midsection while simultaneously grabbing both of his wrists in order to prevent any more close calls. His leg jolts slightly as I lower my forehead to rest on his.

"Ezra, it's ok. You're safe." I whisper quietly in his ear in an attempt to rouse him from his dream.

Nightmare more like.

The faint glow from the miniature night light in the corner bare the deep lines in his brow as his face contorts in pain. Releasing the grip on his right wrist, I run my hand through his short cropped hair.

"Ezra, time to wake up now." I coo in his ear.

Be gentle, no need to freak him out any further.

Sitting up, I put some distance between us and plop down next to him, pulling his hand into my lap. Ezra stirred to consciousness, eyes fluttering briefly.

"What's wrong Sabine?" raising his head slightly and pulling his hand from my grasp in order to clear his eyes.

Placing a hand on his chest, I feel that his heart rate had slowed generously. "You had a nightmare. Woke me up." I shrug, reaching for my glass of water on the nightstand.

He didn't like to make a big deal out of these things. But deep down I know that they scare the shit out of him. He's been having them for weeks.

"Oh." He sits up completely leaning his head against the wall, and reaches over to turn the lamp on. 'Click'. The bath of light reveals a disheveled head of hair, a sweaty face, and bloodshot eyes.

I brush his forehead with the back of my hand, wiping the beading sweat. "You need a shower mister." I give him a grin, and receive closed eyes and a sigh.

"What time is it?" he mutters with a yawn.

My eyes dart to the red glow of the digital chrono on the wall. "4 o'clock."

"In the morning?"

I nod, taking another sip of water, peering at him behind the glass.

His eyes roll as he tosses the bedsheet aside. "Fine." he grunts, standing to stretch briefly.

"We could go for a walk!" I spout with a generous amount of enthusiasm. "Catch the sunrise?"

"Sounds good." he manages a grin, then slips out the door.

Not much else to do on the force forsaken planet.

(Ezra POV)

"Remind me what we're doing on Yavin IV again?" I glance over to Sabine who is seemingly transfixed by the colors splayed across the dense cover of clouds above us.

She really is a sucker for anything involving an ounce of color.

"Making friends."

I can't help but laugh, nearly choking on my cup of caf.

Kitchen here is open all hours of the night apparently.

"What?" She averts her eyes from the sky for the first time in what seems like hours.

I don't mind. I could watch Sabine for an eternity.

Whether it's the expressions she makes when she discovers a new shade of orange for the upteenth time, or just the look of pure joy that seems to emit from her when she's focusing on an elaborate work of art.

This is her happy place, an oasis of sorts.

"Is that what you call it? Our time here?"

"Well what would you call it?" brows raising into a look of questioning.

"Insurance." I glance away, hoping to avoid the look she is most likely going to throw my way.

Instead Sabine tugs my arm, forcing me to peer up at her. "How do you mean?" Her question seemed genuine, so I relent.

"Well ideally, we fight the Empire on our terms. But it's tough because there's only five of us."

"Six. Don't forget Chopper." she cuts in with a giggle.

"Right. I think that Hera wants to ensure that we have a backup plan, should we have a falling out on Lothal. Or wherever we may be." I search Sabine's eyes, hoping to catch a glimpse of understanding.

"Makes sense. As long as we don't have to stay here long term." She makes a face as she glances around us at the crumbling ruins and the dense forest below. "The jungle makes me sick."

I chuckle slightly. "Not much of a badass Mandalorian now are we?"

I receive a punch to the shoulder for that one. "Ow!" I cry in mock pain, rubbing my arm gently.

Sabine rolls her eyes with a laugh. "How's your leg by the way? Didn't hurt to walk all the way up here did it?".

"No, it's healed up fine." I shrug her off. It is in fact still sore, but nothing I can't handle.

Feeling the direction of where the conversation is headed, I avoid Sabine's searching eyes. "Sun's almost up, you want to head down and see what the plan is for today?"

"No, don't do that." She grabs my hand and pulls herself closer. "We are not leaving until we talk about earlier." Her hand finds my cheek and turns my head slowly.

"What's there to talk about?" I breathe out. These conversations are not my forte. Not anymore at least.

I hate feeling like the victim. The one who is always needing to be taken care of.

"You're having nightmares, Ezra. And not the ones that you can simply brush off the next morning." Sabine's eyes find mine, grossly sincere. "I'm worried."

"Don't be. It's under control." I press my lips to the bridge of her nose to confirm it.

Sabine crawls her way into my lap, crossing her legs across the middle of my back. "Do you remember them?". She questions as she traces the line of my jaw, head resting on my shoulder.

I wrap my arms around her small frame, and bury my face in her hair, eyes shut firmly. "I do." I take a deep breath in, catching the familiar scent of shampoo and hair dye. "You're in them." I add.

"And?" Her voice is soft, fully aware of the vulnerable state her antics are putting me in.

"You're in trouble, and I try to save you. And I fail." I sum up the gist of the nightmares, sparing the details.

Truthfully, they terrify me.

"Ezra, you know I'm not going anywhere right?" She pulls away in order to look me in the eye. "And they're just dreams, everyone gets them." Our foreheads meet as she frames my face with her hands. "If they change, or get worse, you'll let me know right?" her voice so soft it seems almost fragile.

"Of course."

A brief 'buzz buzz' interrupts our silence, as I reach in my pocket for my comm.

"It's Hera, important meeting today. Looks like Princess Organa will grace us with her presence."

"Maybe you can ask her for a second dance!" Sabine giggles uncontrollably, clearly remembering the ball on Alderean.

"Hmm, maybe so." I imitate a serious thought, then quickly plant a quick kiss before standing, Sabine still corralled in my arms.

Her feet find the ground before she looks up at me intently. "Thank you for opening up some." her eyes were so filled with compassion it hurt.

"I'm trying here." I grin, placing an arm around her and turn in the direction of the stairs.

"I know."
