The following day, the boys had gone to the edge of town.

"Have you noticed the size of the hordes that have been coming here lately?" asked Zeek after taking a few shots as they sat on a roof sniping walkers that came towards the makeshift wall.

"Yeah, we have never seen numbers like this before," said Clark while looking out at several dozen corpses that were outside the settlement.

"Think it has something to do with them evolving?" asked Zeek.

"I hope not," said Clark.

"Clark, can you hear me?!" came Suzie's voice over a radio that had been sitting near them on the roof.

"What's wrong?" asked Clark after picking it up.

"I'm returning from my recon, there's a horde of at least two hundred heading for the south gate and these things are faster than normal!" said Suzie.

"What?!" asked Clark and Zeek at the same time.

"Are you sure about that number?!" asked Zeek who had snatched the radio from Clark's hand.

"As sure as how much I hate this fucking world!" said Suzie.

"We'll gather as many people and weapons as we can to the gate right away so we'll see you once you're home," said Clark while taking the radio back and giving Zeek a small smack to the back of his head.

"You got it," said Suzie.

"Come on," said Clark before heading down a ladder which led down to an alley where an ATV was parked.

"Do you really think we can survive a wave this huge?" asked Zeek.

"We have to try," said Clark as they reached the ground.

"Because there is no leaving this place, we'll be caught in a death trap either way so standing our ground is the best choice that we have," he said while getting on the vehicle and starting it.

"Valid point," said Zeek as they drove further into the settlement.
