"Hey, you ready? You ready yet? Hurry up Katsuki you slow-"
"Slow your motor mouth please, not everyone has that kind of energy at this time in the morning," Katsuki cut his brother off before he could keep going. There had only been one other time Izuku was like this, when they were bored out of his mind on a pupil free day, and Izuku had managed to charge his quirk above 80% capacity.
Normally he didn't dedicate this much energy to the charging of his quirk and normally it would be used throughout the day, but with the entrance exams only two hours away, Izuku was suffering, well not suffering but experiencing, one of the side effects of his quirk. High levels of charge would often spill over into his personality, sending him into a slight overdrive of curiosity, analysis and giving him excess energy if he weren't caring enough to control it.
Izuku chuckled nervously and apologised, as he stood there waiting nervously. Katsuki just laughed and slapped his rival, best friend, and brother on the back, dissipating the tension in the green haired boy's shoulders. "Let's get going then motor mouth!"
Izuku still had the energetic air to him, even though he managed to control his motor mouth somewhat more successfully. Somewhat. Unfortunately, that didn't really help him as in his hurry to get inside he managed to trip up on the steps. Well then.
He was never going to live this down, no matter how well he did on the entrance exam. He sighed in defeat as he watched the ground come up towards his face. Maybe it would be his friend.
Suddenly, he felt a weightlessness as he stopped falling, mere centimetres from crashing into the ground. He tried to turn around before he felt himself being tipped, and the feeling of gravity returning. He landed on his feet as he saw a brunette girl with short hair who had just started pulling her hand back from him. "Sorry for using my quirk on you, but it would probably be bad luck to fall over today!" She told him.
"T-t-thank you," Izuku stuttered despite his energy. He could see out of the corner of his eye his brother smirking. Great. He definitely wasn't going to hear the end of this, especially if this got to their mother. "Well, good luck in the test!" The girl called out before continuing on her way. Izuku lightly zapped his brother to wipe that smirk off his face, before continuing on too.
The pair made it to the location of the debriefing, where they picked seats and flipped through the brochure. They were flipping through the brochure and listening to Present Mic's instructions.
Suddenly a blue haired boy with square glasses called out, "Sir! You mentioned 3 robots but, on the brochure, there are 4! This is not a good look for such a prestigious school!" he took a break before continuing, "And you there, with the green hair and lightning! If you are trying to intimidate and distract people you should not be here!" he finished, directing it at Izuku with a sharp glare. The green haired boy responded with a yelp and rapid-fire apologies and quickly suppressed it; in his planning he had stopped paying attention to his quirk which had begun arcing due to his excess energy. The blue hair boy grunted as an acknowledgement and turned back towards Present Mic, who explained that there is one more type of robot that is not worth points. Luckily for the blue haired boy, he missed the glare of pure death Katsuki was giving off. Present Mic finished his talk, and everyone received directions. "Oi motor mouth! I'm gonna blow your score away with mine!" Kacchan challenged. Izuku smirked and responded with a fist bump and a simple statement, "Bring it spiky hair."
Katsuki looked at the giant gates to enter into the environment he was assigned. It was a city of sorts, with large buildings and lengthy alleyways. He, along with the other participants assigned to this area, were handed a map with the layout of the buildings, and nothing more.
They were informed that you may go in the buildings, but no robots would be in there nor would robots follow you in there. He started formulating a plan, as much as he'd hate to admit it, but his green haired brother was a pretty good influence on him.
He saw someone with unnaturally sharp red hair approach him. Great. Extras. Despite his hatred towards other people in general, he did not shut the boy out. His brother was having more impact on him than he would admit. "Hey, I'm Kirishima, what's your name?" The red headed boy asked.
"Bakugo, now if you'd kindly fuck off so I can concentrate, that'd be great." Katsuki, or Bakugo as most knew him, responded.
"Hey dude that's not manly at all! I'm just trying to be friendly!" The red-haired boy responded.
"Yeah well too fucking bad, piss off." Bakugo replied. Unfortunately, the other boy, Kirishima, was unrelenting in his approach and eventually Bakugo decided to let the boy talk at him.
Fortunately, he was saved by Present Mic yelling go as all applicants started. Bakugo, propelled by light explosions on his feet, began flying around completely obliterating any robots that he came across.
His arms were starting to ache from the recoil, his knees aching too, and he had destroyed somewhere between 15 and 30 three pointers, along with various other one and two pointers along the way. He was certain he would make it in and took a moment to rest before he felt the ground rumbling.
Turning around he saw a robot of massive size. He identified it as a zero pointer (the massive zero on it's head was decidedly not subtle), but regardless was curious as to what it was doing. Using explosions on his feet to propel himself, he landed on a nearby building as he saw a person with familiar red hair, crushed into the ground in the path. 'God damn it shitty hair' Bakugo thought as he propelled straight towards the zero pointer's head. Winding his arm back with a signature yell of die, he blasted the head of the robot leaving a satisfying dent, before using the explosions on his feet to slow his descent.
Once landing, he pulled the other teen out of the crater, and with typical Bakugo fashion, somewhat aggressively yelled "Oi shitty hair, you okay?!". The other teen responded with a nod, before Bakugo left once more to find other things he could explode. The teachers watching this, although impressed, were slightly off put by his aggressive nature. He would definitely be getting rescue points, just, not that many.
Izuku bid farewell and good luck to his brother, before making his way to the gates of the designated area. They were given a map and had roughly five minutes before starting. Taking this time to continue charging his quirk absentmindedly, he also made sure to accelerate his brain and start coming up with a plan.
His floppy dark green hair began standing up and changing to a slightly lighter shade with his use, albeit minimal. He already came up with a vague plan as he was looking at the map.
Unfortunately for him, someone, a particular boy with blue hair, decided to interrupt him. "You! Stop showing off your quirk and trying to distract others!" the boy with glasses yelled. Unfortunately for him, he also decided to put his hand on Izuku's shoulder to try and get his attention. Which was, from the lightning arcing around Izuku, very warm. "Ah sorry! I'm just stressed, and I can't control these parts of the quirk whilst trying to use it!" Izuku responded in a panic. The other boy merely grunted before moving away with a slight warmth in his hand. Izuku was worried but didn't have time to try and talk to the boy as before he knew it, he heard Present Mic shouting go, and powered some of his quirk through his legs as he ran off.
The environment he was in meant he was easily able to bounce from building to building with his quirk powering his legs, and as he neared a robot placed his hand on it, briefly sending just enough of his lightning through it to shatter it completely.
Whilst this drained his energy faster, it was less tiring on the head as the opponents were nothing but robots and he had to destroy a lot of them. He had started the entrance exam with about 90% capacity and had spent only about 30% so far. He figured he had destroyed a couple dozen three pointers, and a dozen of one and two pointers combined.
He wasn't sure that was enough, and so he continued. About to propel himself off again, he felt a rumbling in the ground. Someone with an earthquake quirk maybe? He jumped up, trying to gain a vantage point when he saw it. The zero pointer. It was massive, towering over every building in the area by at least double.
Everyone was moving away from it. All but one person. The brunette from earlier. Using some of his quirk in his leg and doing his best to approximate how much energy it would take to shatter this one, he ran towards it. This was at least 100 times the size of the three pointers, which took hardly any of his energy. This however, looked far denser.
To be safe, he continued running towards the girl who was struggling with some rubble on her leg. He sprinted to her side, giving her the best reassuring smile he could muster before running up to one of the giant tracks of the robot. Yeah. This would take a lot of energy. Knowing he couldn't just split it either, the fall of it would be unpredictable and could injure the girl more. He needed to completely annihilate it.
Jumping on top of the tracks where there was a slight ledge he could stand on; he placed his hand on the robot. With his hair a lighter shade of green than ever and the arcs coming off of him extending in length and intensity, he said a single word. "Shatter." The lightning he had charged through his hard began going through the robot, and everyone could see streaks of green through the robot.
Initially the gap between the streaks was wide but within a matter of milliseconds there were only millimetres of distance between the many, many streams of the lightning bolt. Everyone watched in awe as the robot froze momentarily, and then shattered into hundreds of thousands of tiny pieces, each so small that they would barely be noticeable if you were to be hit by one.
Izuku jumped off what was the robot's tracks, satisfied with his handiwork and turned his attention to the girl. Despite the numbness overwhelming his right hand, and slowly spreading through part of his arm but he could also feel that slowly going away, he powered up his arms and gently freed the girl from the rocks before picking her up and jumping towards the entrance, presumably where a nurse would be. He made sure to restrain his quirk as not to burn the girl he had picked up (although this didn't stop his hair from standing on end) and did his best to not further aggravate the wound on the girl's leg.
As he made it to the entrance, he heard the buzzer indicating the end of the exam. Eventually he found the nurse and gently placed the girl on the ground but continued to hang around and talk to the girl after she was healed. She introduced herself as Uraraka, and he introduced himself as Izuku in turn.
Together they continued walking and talking until they reached the spot where Izuku's brother was waiting for him, talking with someone who appeared to be a friend of his own. Izuku was, needless to say, surprised that someone hard-headed enough had befriended his brother. He had no idea how accurate that statement was until he learnt of the red-haired boy's quirk. He gave a gentle smile as the four of them talked about whatever until they all had to go their separate ways.
Izuku could feel the tiredness coming on then. He had released a lot of his quirk all at once, and was an incredibly shallow sleeper, meaning he could only count one time in the past month where he had slept uninterrupted.
He yawned as he did his best to stay awake for the remainder of the walk home. Opening the door, he and his brother were greeted by a bone crushing hug from their mother. Whilst his brother gave the usual complaint (and his mother gave a retorting comment), Izuku just mumbled something incoherent. Not from his motor mouth, but from his tiredness. His adoptive family noticed this and let the boy go, before he felt his face meet the pillow. It was much friendlier than the ground.
