Aizawa tsk'ed to himself as the students lined up for the final physical exam. The ball toss.
Another year and another group of kids he'd have to forge into proper hero's.
"Midoriya next!" He said. The nervous boy walked over to the circle and Aizawa erased the kid's quirk as he threw the ball
The boy looked completely at a loss. Aizawa walked over.
"I-it w-was y-you your Eraserhead."
"You were about to break your arm again weren't you?"
The stricken expression on the boy's face said it all.
Aizawa dropped his Quirk.
"You think you're going to be of any use in the field? Every time you use your power you injure yourself. All you are doing is creating another person who needs to be saved. With a Quirk like that you're unsuited for heroics," Aizawa said coldly.
He reached for another ball and placed it into the kid's hands.
"Finish up." Aizawa walked back to his spot and watched the kid. His scores weren't even at the bottom of the list. So in truth, he didn't even need to use that destructive quirk to pass this test.
Aizawa wasn't going to expel anyone based on physical scores. That would be illogical. His quirk did nothing for him physically after all so he'd just be a giant hypocrite if he did.
No, this test was to see if students put in effort and a personality assessment more than anything else.
If the Midoriya boy stopped and used his brain Aizawa would let him pass on for now.
But no. The boy looked down at his hand and gained a determined expression. The kid was about to do something stupid he could just tell.
Midoriya stepped back into the circle and tossed the ball. At the very last second the kid activated his Quirk. Not on his whole arm, just a single finger. That was good, but not good enough.
The throw created a shock wave and the ball got some good distance.
Aizawa sighed and shook his head.
"I-I can continue on Sensei," the kid said, trying to hide his pain.
Before Aizawa could tell the kid the error of his ways. The Bakugo kid let off a bunch of explosions and flew towards Midoriya.
Aizawa activated his Quirk again. Man, these kids were already giving him dry eye. And restrained the Bakugo kid. What kind of idiot tries to attack a fellow classmate with a teacher present? The kids' attitude was wholly unsuited for this profession even beyond the sure idiocy he just displayed.
"Bakugo you're expelled."
The kid went limp. Aizawa removed his scarf but kept his quirk active.
Midoriya looked as if he was the one getting expelled. Well, he wouldn't have to wait for long.
"Get off of school grounds immediately!"
"You, You can't be serious!" The Bakugo kid said in shock.
"I am. Get the hell out of here." Aizawa remained ready for a fight. But the blond kid turned around and stormed off.
"S-sensei you can't?!" Midoriya said.
"Oh? And why not?"
"K-kacchan h-he wasn't going…"
"Wasn't going to do what? He looked like he was about to attack you. Are you telling me I'm wrong? Was he rushing over to you to give you a hug?"
"I-its no, I mean y-yes. I mean that It's fine. It's not a-a problem."
Aizawa's eyebrow raised. This kid was turning into a massive problem.
"So, attacking another student unprovoked isn't an issue? U.A. has a zero-tolerance policy."
"B-but Kacchan can be a great hero! I-I know it."
Aizawa shook his head. The Bakugu kid had a good Quirk, But how good your Quirk was isn't what makes you worthy of being a hero.
"Midoriya you're dropped to general education. Go see Principal Nedzu about your transfer. You'll be allowed back in once you can use that monstrous quirk without injuring yourself."
"B-but." The kid looked at his red swollen finger.
"You think breaking your fingers instead of your arm solves the problem? Well, it doesn't. If you keep doing that all you're going to do is render your fingers useless over time. Damage accumulates. Nedzu can arrange for some Quirk counseling well you're in general education. But know this! If you can't access that power of yours without injury then you're not suited for this line of work. Now get going."
Midoriya nodded dully and walked off dejected.
Aizawa rubbed his eyes and turned towards the rest of the class, most of whom looked shocked.
"Right, next up!" He gestured towards the next student in line.
The kids all finished up, putting in everything they had. A bit late if he was honest. Maybe he should expel someone, right at the start next year?
The students nervously lined up for the final results.
"Before I show the combined final results, Todoroki step forward!"
The kid did, he looked emotionless and stood with his arms crossed. The other students gave him nervous glances.
"Your quirk is not only ice. It also has a fire component. And yet I haven't seen you use it once. And don't try to tell me there wasn't a single test that you couldn't have benefited from its use. Your father is the number 2 hero." That comment caused the boy to finally react. With anger.
'Interesting.' Aizawa made a mental note of that.
"If there's anyone that knows how to use fire to their advantage, I expect it to be you. So what's your excuse?"
Todoroki muttered something softly.
"Speak up!" Aizawa commanded.
"I won't use his fire!"
'his?' Great, the boy had some serious issues. Aizawa thought that it might be related to the burn mark on the kid's face. A fear of fire perhaps. But now? It looked like some family issue.
"Half-assing isn't something that I can allow. You'll learn to use your full power. Or you won't become a hero. This is a dangerous job. Lives will depend on you giving and using everything you have. You're dropped to general education. Proceed to the principal's office. You'll also be signed up for some mandatory therapy as well."
The Todoroki boy clenched his fists and shot Aizawa a hateful look as he left the field.
"Mineta!"
The boy practically jumped with fear. That was good. Aizawa had taken note of all his harassing comments throughout the tests. What angered him more was that nobody had spoken up about the boy, not even any of the girls. He would need to tell midnight to give a talk to the whole class.
"The comments you've made are, to put it simply, repulsive and you show no sign of stopping. I fear having someone like you around U.A. Go see the principal, you'll be transferred to an all-boys hero school, one that will help you with your … issues."
The boy walked away stunned.
Aizawa turned back to the class. All of which looked like they were standing on the executioner's chopping block. That was good. The hero course wasn't a place to fool around in.
"Here are the results."
Aizawa watched the person in last place. Kaminari the boy looked ready to faint.
"I hope you now understand how serious this is!" his eyes roamed over the remaining students.
"Kaminari you're not expelled, you put in enough effort." The boy still looked completely shocked. "Class is dismissed for the day," Aizawa said as he walked off.
All Might, who had not so well hidden himself in the buses, approached Aizawa as he turned a corner.
"Aizawa!"
"All Might."
"I know that you have a distaste towards me and daylight heroes-"
Aizawa interrupted. "I dislike you? Who exactly said that?"
"I … You don't?"
"Why would I hate the symbol of peace?"
"Oh, my apologies, I seemed to have misjudged you," All Might said with a bow.
Aizawa waved it off.
"But about the students you expelled!" All Might went on.
"I only expelled one of them. And for good reason, attacking a classmate out of the blue? Not acceptable. But I suspect that isn't the student you're worried about."
"Right, It's young Midoriya."
"I saw you watching him during the Entrance exams," Aizawa noted.
"Yes, it's because of that and your cold attitude towards me that I thought you might have been judging him too harshly."
"I respect your work, and the work of all daylight heroes. I know some underground heroes do not feel the same way but I'm not part of that group. Their thoughts aren't logical. Tell me honestly. Do you think a Quirk that so heavily injures its user is of use in heroics?"
"The boy is a late bloomer," All Might defended.
Aizawa raised an eyebrow. "That wasn't in his file and even if that's the case. The best thing for him is to dedicate time towards figuring out a way to use it without injuring himself, if it's even possible. Most of the Heroics classes focus on combat. I don't want the kid constantly breaking his bones."
"I," All Might paused. "You're right."
