It was another day at Caillou's school. It was recess time. Strangely, Caillou was nowhere to be found. In any case, Leo and Clementine played without him.
Clementine: I wonder where Caillou is?
Leo: I'm sure he'll drop in sooner or later.
Suddenly, they hear a crashing noise off in the distance. Caillou had kicked the gate to the school open. He did not look joyful.
Sarah: Hello, Caillou!
Caillou ignored her and continued walking.
Sarah: Caillou? I said hello.
Once again, he ignores her.
Jason (whispering): What's with him?
Jeffrey (whispering): No idea…
Caillou then picks up Leo, Clementine, Sarah, Jeffrey, Jason & Andy and tosses them off the play-ground.
Caillou: [yelling angrily] Away with you! Unwanted pesterers!
Clem and Leo's eyes widen with shock, as the other kids fall and scream. Everyone around them look stunned, especially Miss Martin
Miss Martin storms up to Caillou and puts her hands on her hips.
Miss Martin: Caillou Anderson. I'm not sure what's gotten into you, but you can't kick the kids off the playground! I'm the teacher here!
Caillou: [yells back in Miss Martin's face] SO QUIT!
Shocked (and a little scared), Miss Martin takes a couple steps back.
Miss Martin: Um, okay. Kids? Class dismissed. Go home. Please. I-I need to leave.
Caillou walks home angrily. Leo was mad.
Leo: I was building a castle! The best one ever! Until Mr. Happy showed up and ruined everything.
As Caillou walked by, Leo crossed his arms.
Leo: Hey, rumple-bald-skin. Wake up on the wrong side of bed?
Caillou ignored him and continued walking.
Leo: HEY, SOUR-PUSS!
Once again, he ignored him. Clementine grabbed Leo's hand.
Clementine: C'mon, Leon. Let's see if he's okay.
Leo: Oh, he's just being dramatic. He's probably got gas.
At home, Caillou went to the Backyard and sat in the sandbox.
Clementine: Caillou certainly is long in the face, Leo.
Leo: That's 'cause he doesn't have a chin, Einstein.
Caillou: [yelling angrily] SHUT UP!
Leo: YOU SHUT UP, YOU LITTLE PUNK!
Clementine: Leo, please! Caillou's clearly having a bad day!
Leo: Aw, he's just bein' a wuss. Hey, Baldy! I'll give ya three seconds TO GET OVER YOURSELF. One!–smile, you miserable–Two!–snap out of it, ya–
He gets cut off by Caillou grabbing him by the throat.
Caillou: Leave. Me. ALONE!
He throws Leo at a tree, which breaks upon impact.
Leo groans in pain. Clem runs to him
Clem: Oh my goodness, Leo! Are you alright?!
Leo: dazed MoMmY, tHe TrAiN wEnT sWiMmInG iN tHe PiAnO...
Clementine walks to Caillou.
Clementine: Caillou? Do you know what I like when I'm feeling crabby? A big hug to squeeze those cares away!
She gives him a hug. She smiles, expecting him to hug, only to be shoved away.
Caillou: IF YOU TOUCH ME AGAIN, I SWEAR I'LL PUMMEL YOU!
Clem just looks at him, shocked and a little scared at Caillou's outburst. Caillou is just breathing loudly, and is looking at her with an angry glare
Clementine and Leo go upstairs to find some toys to give Caillou. Clem and Leo rummage through the toys, trying to find something to calm Caillou down. Leo takes out a toy car
Leo: How about this? He likes cars, doesn't he?
Clementine: Maybe: Put in the bag, just in case.
Leo nods, and puts the toy car in a plastic bag
Leo: Okay, what else?
Clementine: Get his baseball. He'll like that?
Leo nods and walks over to the toy chest. He fishes through the toys and grabs a baseball. He puts it in the bag
Leo: Got it. What else?
Clementine spies his bed and takes the stuffed dinosaur.
She grabs the dinosaur and puts it in the bag.
The duo go downstairs and into the backyard. Clementine gives Caillou Rexy, AKA, his favorite toy. Caillou stares at the stuffed T-Rex for a couple of seconds before tossing it away. Clementine flinches at this. Why is he being like this? She gently picks up Rexy and puts her in the bag with the other toys. She turns to look at Caillou, who's still sitting in the sandbox. He looks like the anger is still coming off of him
Leo: Here, Caillou, catch.
He tosses the base ball to him. It hits him in the head but doesn't flinch
Leo: Woah. Cool.
He continues to toss the ball at his head, laughing.
Clementine gasps, horrified
Clementine: What are you doing, Leo?! Stop it! You're hurting him!
Leo: Relax, Clem. He's not even-
Caillou grabs Leo by the leg. He tosses the ball up and uses Leo as a bat.
Leo screams in pain and horror, as he's used as a baseball bat for the ball. Clem watches on in horror.
Caillou then drops him and goes to sit back down
Leo: Is he smiling yet?
Clem shakes her head as she checks on Leo
Clementine: No. In fact... I think he actually looked even angrier…
They then tried alternative ideas. Like reading to him..
Leo: reading "'We are fresh from the freezer,' said the little patties. 'And we are co-co-co-co-cold.' 'Don't worry. I'll keep you nice and warm' said-"
Leo is cut off by Caillou slamming the book on his nose.
Clem gasps at that. She quickly runs over to check on Leo, who's bleeding
Clementine: OH MY GOODNESS, LEO, YOUR NOSE IS BLEEDING!
Leo: I-I need to go clean my nose. Tag in.
Clem nods as Leo runs off into the house to help himself. Clem turns to look at Caillou, who's still in the sandbox, just sitting there...
Then they tried giving him a cake.
Clementine: Here you go, Caillou. Blow out the candle, and make a big happy wish!
Caillou blows out the candle.
Clementine: What did you wish?
SPLAT! Caillou slams the cake into her face
Caillou: That you two would leave me alone.
Clem falls backwards onto the ground, and wipes the cake off herself. Her eyes are wide with shock. She can't believe what just happened. She looks over towards Caillou, who has that same angry look on his face Next, they put on a puppet show, using Rexy and a teddy bear
Clementine: Wow, Mr. Teddy, our moody friend sure could use a good chuckle. Why don't you sing him a song, and lift his spirits?
Leo throws away the teddy bear.
Leo: I hate puppet shows!
Clementine: Leo! You're not even trying! You pick that up, Mister!
They get into an argument. While they're arguing, Caillou just sits there and watches them. He looks like he's close to another outburst. He's clearly been annoyed by the two of them doing all these things to try to get him out of whatever he's in, and their bickering isn't helping. Caillou pulls a string on Rexy's back. A flame shoots out of the toy's mouth, barbecuing the puppet show alongside Clementine and Leo. Clementine had one more idea. She whispered to Leo.
Leo: NO WAY! Forget it! I ain't doin' it!
Clementine: But Leo! Look at him! If Caillou doesn't cheer up soon, he could become a mope! Do you realize how miserable our lives would be?
Leo groans. He knows she's right, though he really doesn't wanna do what she just suggested
Leo: ...Fiiiine... But I'm warning you... If he tries anything, I'm blaming it on you.
Leo is dressed like a chicken.
Leo: [dancing] Bock bock bock ba-gock! Look at me, I'm a chicken. Cluck cluck cluck. You love chickens. Chickens make you happy. Buck buck buck. How 'bout I lay an egg?
Caillou shoves Leo away. Having enough, Clementine storms up to Caillou.
Clementine: THAT'S IT! I'VE HAD IT UP TO HERE WITH YOUR BAD MOOD! CRACK A SMILE! BUST A GUT! BE HAPPY! [She slaps the back of his head.] WHATEVER YOUR PROBLEM IS, GET OVER IT!
Caillou: [enraged] BIIIIIIIIG TROUBLEEEEEEEEEEEE!
Clem gasps as Caillou suddenly screams in anger. He hasn't ever screamed like that before.
He rips a tree stump out of the ground. He angrily swings it around at the duo, who run off in fear.
Clem screams as she and Leo run from Caillou, who's swinging the tree stump around. They hide behind the house, still breathing heavily. They can hear Caillou still screaming in anger
Caillou: WHAT DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND!? I WANT TO BE ALONE!
Then he sees Rosie playing with her magenta teddy bear, Strawberry. Angrily, he grabbed the stuffed doll and begins pulling it apart.
Rosie: "Gimme Strawberry back, you meanie!"
It looks like all is lost, then Rosie manages to pull off Caillou's shoe. A small pebble falls out. A wide smile spreads across his face, and he tosses Plank away.]
Caillou: [Overjoyed] "I am happy once more!"
Rosie: Buddy! [She catches and hugs Strawberry] Never a dull moment with these clowns, huh 'Berry?
[Clementine walks over to the shoe and pebble and picks up the rock.]
Clementine: [Shocked beyond belief] A pebble? Caillou's bad mood was all because he had a pebble in his shoe?
Caillou: [hugging Clementine and Le] "My friends! My pals! My name here!"
Clementine falls to the ground in a fit of crazy laughter.
Caillou: [oblivious] "Somebody had a good day, huh, Leo? [He and Clementine laugh together.]
