While on the Land of Waves mission, Naru lost control and hurt Kakashi. In guilt she temporarily lost her mind falling into a blood shock, then falling into a coma. Kakashi manages to pull her out of it and bring her back, but she's not the same when she comes back. Terrified to have a repeat Naru requests to leave Konoha to travel and find herself. She needs room to breathe, but will she take someone's air when she takes her own?
Chapter 1.
It was a gruesome scene to say the least. The light gray concrete was stained with blood and littered with various bodies and body parts. In the middle of the mess stood a lone figure, red bubbling chakra that surrounded her slowly wisped away into the foggy air. She took in deep breaths as her body relaxed and she fell to her knees, letting out a quiet whimper.
"Naru…" The strained voice of her sensei sounded. He leaned against the concrete railing gripping his stomach that had blood running from it staining his navy blue clothes. He took in shuddering breaths as he watched his youngest student in slight horror. He groaned collapsing forward as he tried to reach his student, he coughed up blood that stained his blue mask as well.
"Gasp Sensei!" She yelped looking at him and scrambled over to him sliding in the blood. She tripped over a body and connected with the concrete scraping her chin and soaking her front with more blood. She shook in fear before shaking her head and scrambling to her sensei gently pushing him over on his back. "Sensei.." She whispered, Kakashi groaned in pain, gritting his teeth to prevent the scream at his lips. She pressed her hands on his wound putting pressure on it. "Please don't die sensei! Please! I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I didn't mean to.. I didn't!" She pleaded. He looked at her, her bright blue eyes were glued to him, her normal round pupils were now slitted due to her transformation moments ago, and tears ran down her cheeks. She pulled her lip in and revealed the sharpened canines, also a result of her transformation, breaking the fragile skin of her lips. "What have I done?" She whispered before pouring chakra into her hands and into his body. He groaned in pain, tipping his head back, closing his eyes tight. "Please don't die sensei! I didn't mean it! I didn't! I was angry and i… I -"
"You bitch!" An older voice sounded from the end of the bridge. "You killed my whole crew! What the hell are you?!"
"Dammit.." Kakashi rasped trying to sit up knowing the battle wasn't over yet.
"No!" Naru yelped, shoving him back down, his head smacking the concrete making him blink quickly.
"Naru, don't waste energy, the fight-"
"Shut up! You can't do this! You can't die!" She screamed as her voice cracked.
Kakashi watched her closely as turmoil covered her face, she kept questioning herself, how could she do such a thing. He reached and cupped her cheek, she looked at him scared.
"It's okay, it was an accident." He said, she shook her head pulling back, his hand leaving a bloody handprint on her cheek.
"Kaka-sensei!" The horrified voice of one of his other students cried out from the distance.
"Gato! Your days of ruling this land are over!" Various voices called before battle cries sounded and Gato's horrified screams sounded.
"Watch out!" A woman fell next to Naru pushing her back as she began to form hand signs before soothing chakra leaked into his body. He groaned in slight relief as the pain ebbed away.
"Naru, what happened?" The other member asked in shock. Kakashi watched through a blurry eye as she scrambled up and disappeared past the crowd of people.
'Dammit..' He thought but bided his time until he was healed enough to chase his little student.
"Take it easy or you'll open the stitches. But I healed most of it." The young woman said as Kakashi stood slowly.
"Thank you." He said and looked at his two students who looked around in horror at the scene as the villagers of the small town began to dump the bodies into the river off the large bridge.
"Sensei, what in Kami's name happened?!" Sakura asked, looking in horror. "The fog was so thick…" She said, Kakashi looked at the blood as his mind flashed back to the incident.
-Flashback
Kakashi dodged the heavy and sloppy swings of his opponent Momochi Zabuza. He roared in frustration as he tried to hit the jounin. Kakashi disappeared from the front, appearing behind him stabbing his good arm with a kunai, making him drop his large weapon and stumble forward.
"You're finished, Zabuza."
"You're right, he is finished, he's getting whipped by a small team, him and his partner. When I hired you, I didn't think you'd get beaten by a team of little kids!" Both adults looked in the direction the voice came from, seeing a group of easily fifty armed men with a short older man in front. He wore a crisp gray suit and held a cane in his hands, he gave a malicious smirk.
"What is this Gato?" Zabuza rasped.
"Your time is up, I've been patient, but I've had enough, these men will take your place. They can get the job done."
Before anyone could respond, a shockwave of malicious chakra shot out making them freeze in shock, some of the thugs dropping to their knees in pure terror.
"What is this?" Zabuza rasped, Kakashi looked over to see orange chakra tendrils waving in the air before the dome of ice mirrors shattered to pieces. The pained cry of the young boy controlling them sounded as he fell to the bridge blood splayed around him.
"Naru…" Kakashi gulped in terror as he watched his youngest student, she was crouched in an animal like pose before she ran forward, some of the thugs screamed in horror, running to the edge of the unfinished bridge jumping off into the water instead of dealing with her.
"Naru stop!" Kakashi barked, running forward and standing in front. "Stop!" He barked.
She growled low as she stopped in her tracks, blood ran from her clawed hand. "Calm down.." He said. "Let it go." He said, she snarled as she looked at him, before the jounin could react she sprung from her spot slamming into his body, he cried out in agony as he felt the red boiling hot chakra rip his skin open. He hit the bridge harshly and she landed above him. She brought her hand up about to put him out of his misery before a low whistle sounded, he watched as an arrow sliced her cheek and disappeared over the side of the bridge. She stopped and slowly turned her eyes locking on to the culprit, a young thug who shook in fear. She tipped her head back letting out an animal-like roar, chakra created a shockwave making him slide back. She sprung from Kakashi and raced to the thugs and slammed into them. Kakashi sat up slowly shaking in pain, he watched in horror as Naru ripped the thugs to pieces in mere seconds. She suddenly stopped in her tracks standing in the middle of the massacure. Her body shaking and seemingly losing all strength as she fell to her knees.
Flashback-
"Sensei?" Sakura asked, he blinked and sighed.
"Don't worry, take Tazuna and his family to their home and stay on watch. I gotta find Naru." He said and walked quickly through the crowd and in the direction his student ran off in.
Kakashi panted heavily, wincing in pain as he jumped through the trees of the forest tracking his student that all but disappeared. He landed on his haunches and winced in pain hissing quietly.
His highly tuned ears picked up quiet whimpering and instantly recognized it as Naru. He walked quickly to the clearing of the river to see his student sitting by the water scrubbing at her arms. Her soiled jacket laid to the side of her, her golden hair caked in blood as well as the rest of her body.
"Naru." He called gently but she ignored his call, whimpering still and rubbing at her arms. He walked up and touched her shoulder, she sprung forward with a scream landing half in the water thrashing around crying loudly. He froze slightly before ripping her out of the water and pinned her to the ground as she struggled against his grip. "Naru! Naru, calm down! Stop!" He barked loudly as he fought against her hits as she screamed.
"Please! Please get it off!" She sobbed loudly, nearly hyperventilating. "Blood.." She said in a shaky voice holding her hand up, that was actually free of blood.
"Naru, look at me." He said cupping her face, her blue eyes looking at him and widened in terror.
"NO!" She screamed. "It's blood! Get off! Get it off!" She screamed at the top of her lungs, Kakashi hesitated before pulling his slanted hitai-ate up revealing his sharingan. Ignoring the sharp pains from the overuse of the gift, he let it spin quickly and pried Naru's eyes open making eye contact with her. He watched as her pupils shrunk down before her eyes shut and she went limp.
"Dammit." Kakashi cursed quietly huffing for air. He looked at her closely, her skin was pale and dark bags under her eyes made her skin look even whiter. Scratches that were ever so slightly bleeding. Her nails were broken and had blood caked on them. He watched her whimper in her genjutsu induced sleep, mumbling blood quietly.
'She can't have that can she? Well, it was her first kill and a brutal one at that… I didn't even pay attention- no, Naru's more important. She's got all the signs of Chi no kyōfu … if she does… kami help us all…' He thought before he gently scooped Naru up in his arms cradling her to his chest and turned around. A small clink sounded, making him pause and look down, seeing her bloody hitai-ate under his foot. He quickly scooped it up and headed back to the house gently rubbing Naru's head, hoping to give some comfort from the storm he knew all too well that was brewing in her mind.
