Wake Me Up If You Have A Nightmare Part 1
The Dragon Warrior opens his eyes. He had to shield his eyes because the sun's rays were bright. It must be eight o'clock right now. Panther, Blake and the wolves are going back to Gongmen City today as Song and her group was leaving today too. Po had to spit out a blanket after having a dream. The large panda tried to get up, but he couldn't.
"Huh?" Po wondered. "I'm awake right now, but my body isn't awake?"
He started twisting and turning and got off the bed. The panda can move his body now. "Something feels wrong." Po was curious to see what was going on outside and takes a look out his window.
Below in the shop, the customers were sleeping.
"Well, I don't see anything wrong with some customers sleeping to wait for their meal. Time to see what Dad is up to right now." Po said.
He lost all feeling in his legs and fell forward on his stomach. The Dragon Warrior had to crawl down the steps. "It's been years since I crawled these stairs when I was a cub." Po said as he got up.
Mr. Ping was standing at the counter with his back to Po.
"Dad?" Po tilts his head. "What are-"
"Zzz." Mr. Ping snores.
"Wow." Po was impressed as his father was sleeping and cooking. "Sleep cooking? That's awesome and again, wow. Hm?"
Po saw Kiba was sleeping on the floor. "Kiba?" He shakes him a bit. No response. "Must be from all that snoring."
The goose picks up a tray with two bowls of noodles and walks outside as Po follows him out of the kitchen.
"Now he's sleep charging them too?" Po smiled. "Wow."
As The Dragon Warrior turns around, he saw a couple of people were standing still while sleeping.
"Ok, shouldn't they be awake?" Po steps out of the shop and looks down at the mud and grass. He lets out a yawn and was getting drowzy. "I'll look into it after I take a nice nap on that small patch of grass. It looks really comfortable to sleep on."
As he took a couple of steps foward, Mantis came from behind the panda and kicks his ass.
"What the hell?" Po groans as he turns around and looks down at the green bug. "Mantis, did you just perform the Lightning Leg Extension of Lo-Fung on my cuddly panda ass?"
"Believe me, it's for your own good." Mantis said.
The panda notices Panther and the rest of the Five.
"Once you go under, there's just no waking up." Viper informs him.
"So only our vigorous training and iron resolve will allow us to resist falling back to sleep."
"That means you shouldn't rest, Po." Panther said.
"Oh. I was just teating that myself." The panda chuckled nervously as his foot fell asleep. Then he notice Leo wasn't there with them. "Where's Leo?"
As if on cue, Leo landed besides him. He had a serious look on his face.
"Leo, what did you find out?" Shifu asked, surprising the Dragon Warrior.
"Every single person is asleep from the Jade Palace to the village. I found it odd that was no one was awake after I got up at four o'clock in the morning." Leo reported. "Why is everyone still sleeping?"
"I fear that our mental discipline will not allow us to resist this forever." Shifu spoke. "Even I no longer trust my body and mind, which is why all of you must get to the bottom of this soon. These reports of sleeping sickness came from a small settlement at the very edge of The Swamp Of Disillusionment, where you will begin your quest."
"Then we got no time to waste." Po said. He started walking with one foot.
"Po." Panther pointed out to Po's left foot.
The panda looks down at his left foot. "That's strange. My left foot just nodded off. Then my ankle... my calf... and my thigh."
Leo looks at the Furious Five. "Even your body parts are falling asleep one at a time."
"Whether we like it or not." Tigress picks up her tail.
"So what do we do?"
"Use Kung Fu to remind your body that you are in charge, not you mind!" Shifu ordered. As he began to watch his six students train, he noticed Leo wasn't training and so as Panther. "Are you not going to train, you two?"
"Panther and I already trained for an hour before you all woke up this morning." Leo folded his arms over his chest. "I took a small fifteen-minute nap and I woke up with no problem."
"I see." Shifu strokes his beard. He turns his attention to Po and The Five.
Leo wanted to watch, but Panther taps him on the shoulder and gestures him to walk a couple feet from the warriors. "What is it, Panther?"
"I wanted to talk you about your fifteen-minute nap. The only thing that woke you up was your nightmares." Panther answered with a worried look.
"It's thanks to my nightmares that I could focus." Leo replied. "The nightmares have grown strong to keep me awake for something like this."
"Not only that, Leo, those nightmares are continuing to torture you." Panther said with a worried look.
Before Leo can respond, he looks over his shoulder to see Po and the Furious Five done with their training.
"All of you must begin." Shifu tells them. "I fear that this somnolent sequence of events can be stalled, but not stopped indefinitely."
"Alright, let's do this!" Po cheered as they prepared to leave. But he noticed Shifu wasn't coming with them. "Not coming with us, Master Shifu?"
"No. It would be a catastrophe if I slip and harm you, possibly." Shifu answered.
"Gotcha." Po nodded his head.
"But do not worry..." Shifu was saying as his students left him "I... will never... yi..l... to... th... zzz..."
The warriors left the valley. Most of them feel their body parts falling asleep. They were walking through the fields near a mountain.
"How are you all holding up right now?" Panther looks at the Furious Five.
"Random sections of my coils keep falling asleep!" Viper exclaims.
"And my eyes feels so heavy." Monkey added.
Leo stops to turn around to see the panda was panting and struggling to catch up to them. They all stopped for him. "Come on, Po!"
"Sorry everyone." Po apologized and caught up to them. "Didn't Shifu say the journey is within oneself, or if he didn't and I just made that up, he should have! There's a whole lot more of me to navigate."
Tigress was getting irritated. She walks up to him "We don't have time for jokes, Po. All of us are facing a great, if somewhat undefined, challenge."
"Alright, I'm just facing this at my own sweet pace."
The orange feline master rolls her eyes in annoyance and resumes walking. "For a Dragon Warrior, Po, sometimes I can't help but feel you lack the necessary fire."
Po started walking besides Monkey and Mantis.
"Don't try to take it personally, Po. She's fighting this too and it's making her irritable." Monkey tells him.
"I hadn't notice any difference."
An hour later, they made it to a grassy field.
Leo looks over his shoulder and saw Panther was struggling a bit as she was walking beside Tigress. He was ahead of the group and slows down his walking pace to be in the middle between the two warriors. "How are the two of you holding up?"
"We're hanging in there, Leo." Tigress answered.
"Crane is making sure that Po doesn't fall asleep on us." Panther said.
"That's good to know." Leo said.
"But what about you?" Tigress asked him. "Are you doing alright?"
"Yes. None of my body parts fell asleep since we started this quest." Leo answered.
"Hm." Tigress lowered her head. "You know... if an enemy were to attack the valley of now, we wouldn't know it until it was too late."
Everyone stops walking.
"You're right." Viper yawned. "Our natural... early warning system has been effectively disabled."
They heard someone's stomach rumbling and looks at Po.
"What? It's my stomach, okay? Sorry!" Po complains. "I missed breakfast! Sue me!"
"Don't apologize, Po." Monkey tells him. "It's the only thing that's keeping us from falling asleep."
"If you like, Po, I will happily repay the favor." Tigress smirks at the Dragon Warrior, unsheathing her right claw.
After another hour of walking, they finally made it to the swamp. All the villagers were still sleeping. It was quiet around here. Monkey heard Po's stomach growling and picks up a patch of grass. "Here, Po. They grow around here and they're kind of stinky but at least they'll fill your stomach."
Mantis and Viper were looking out for anything. They notice a couple of tracks.
"Over here." Viper gestures her tail to everyone.
"What did you find?"
"Tracks. Big, heavy equipment of some kind." Mantis whispered.
"And these footprints don't belong to the locals."
"You all thinking what I'm thinking?"
"It's bad as imagined. Worse."
They began to follow the tracks. Monkey moves a patch of grass. "I think we found them."
There were many crocs that were armed with spears and axes along with their catapults. A big crocodile was standing on a platform in front of them with an axe. He wore purple leather pants. Every crocodile has a straw in their mouth that was attached to a silver ball.
"The Mist Of Morpheus will have done its work and the Jade Palace is ours for the taking. But should you encounter any resistance, crush it! Maul it! Batter and bludgeon it into submission before hammering it senseless just for the fun of it. Any questions?"
"No, General Rong!"
"The Mist Of Morpheus?" Panther looks at Tigress.
"Over there." she pointed.
A crocodile was working the fan blowing a green mist into the air.
"Some kind of naturally tranquilizing swamp gas, huh?" Crane observed. "And those crocs have been pumping it into the atmosphere days... maybe weeks!"
"Until the whole valley is sound asleep and ripe for conquest. It seems way to cunning for croc bandits." Viper said.
"Hm." Tigress began to wonder. "I wonder if someone else is pulling the general's strings."
"This is all super interesting, but has anyone noticed we're outnumbered?" Po pointed out. "I'd laugh in the face of those odds and just start smacking the crocs, but we are not at our fighting best."
Leo knew Po was right. Everyone except for him was not at their fighting best and looks like they're about to sleep. The young man looks at the croc convoy. "If we're going to save the Valley Of Peace, we need a plan because the croc convoy is pulling out right now."
