Chapter One: One small issue, or three...
It was a seemingly peaceful day in the village. The sun was shining, birds chirping, villagers were going about their usual routine day of running their businesses, visiting stores and friends. Ninja of all ages and rank walked through the streets, some heading out on missions or returning from missions. In the back of the village, placed below the great Hokage stone face mountain stood the large building that housed the Hokage's office, the private library of documents that contained information ranging from ninja's both active and nuke ninja, training techniques, histories of the village and of the world, jutsu of all type, even forbidden and many deep secrets.
On the second from the top floor was the mission room where ninja received their missions, where clients came to request the village ninja aid. A large desk was placed in front of the wall of windows, seated behind the desk sat five people, in the center was Hiruzen Sarutobi: the Hokage himself, Iruka Umino: the young, sometimes extra vocal academy teacher, and two different chunin that accepted the clients papers and pay and finally a chunin who took notes on the events of the day.
Iruka let out a small groan stretching his arms popping his back. "Is that all the missions for today Hokage-sama?" Iruka inquired of the elder.
"Giving them out? Yes. Dealing with some of the returning missions? Not quite. There are still a few left." He replied moving some of the papers with a smile.
"Team 7 should be returning today, correct?" He asked.
Hiruzen chuckled taking a drag of his pipe before letting out a small billow of smoke. "According to Kakashi's report, they should be back any moment to debrief. Their mission turned out to be much more complicated than first interpreted, but they managed." He chuckled.
They looked up when the door opened and the young chunin girl who worked as the secretary to the Hokage, she bowed quickly. "Pardon my interruption sir, team 7 has returned and requested a private meeting, only close need-to-know audience." She said.
"Granted, you three may leave for the day," Hiruzen said to his helpers who took note of the unspoken command and scurried out with their supplies.
"Shall I-"
"You are close to them are you not Iruka?" He asked, the chunin flushed a little and nodded. "Send them in." He called and waited as the door opened and a slightly haggard appearing Kakashi walked in with a bow of respect. Both took note of the missing genin suppose to be under his care, but also the stressed aura and body tension in the younger man.
"Kakashi, welcome home, what's wrong that you asked for privacy?" Hiruzen questioned outright.
"Well Hokage-sama, you see, as you know our little mission was a lot more complicated that we were first led to believe. It quickly became dangerous and life threatening when we battled rogue chunin, but we continued on. It became an A rank when we met Zabuza Momochi; the rogue from Kirigakure and his partner," Kakashi paused with a deep sigh. "While in battle, Naru cracked her seal." He said, both stiffened at that and held their breaths. "It was tamed, but it had well …. I mean it created an issue... or more appropriately three." He mumbled the end rubbing his head and turned to the door. Walking in first was the young kunoichi Sakura Haruno, followed by Sasuke Uchiha, a gifted and popular ninja. Both stepped to the side and watched as their youngest teammate Naru Uzumaki came in followed by two other unfamiliar people, one holding her hand and the other with his hands stuffed in his pocket.
"Naru?" Iruka questioned his all but blood sister, she looked up at him and gave him her signature grin.
"Hokage-sama, Iruka... meet Kurama and Naoko. Naru's other personalities..." Kakashi said.
"What?!"
"If I may Hokage-sama," the young girl, who had orange-red hair and blue-violet eyes, said stepping forward politely, she brushed her bangs back and sighed. "Naru created Kurama and I in childhood. A comfort in the pain and loneliness. A family she needed, her chakra was so strong, we became apart of her psyche, almost like a-"
"Oh geez Naoko, listen old man we were voices in her head helping out, now we ain't got it?" The young boy with unruly deep crimson hair and emerald green eyes said crossing his arms behind his head, Naru giggled as Naoko growled.
"Kurama would you please learn some manners!?" She snipped making him snort and stick his nose in the air. "I apologize Hokage-sama! If you couldn't tell, he is crude and has no respect.." She growled with a glare at the now smirking boy. "I am Naoko, Naru's more respectful, sane voice... this is Kurama, her more wild and crude side." She said.
"Or more fun side." He mumbled, she grunted with a dark glare to him.
"If you're apart of Naru's psyche, how are you here now?" Iruka asked.
"It seems because of the uncontrollable chakra and her imagination and heart, when she dipped into that chakra, it gave us a real form separate from her, with no way to return... I think." Naoko said.
"So.. you each make up a part of Naru.." Hiruzen summed up.
"We plan to discover a way to rejoin her as fast as possible-"
"Tsk! Maybe you do, but I sure as hell won't be. I'm finally free and I'mma enjoy it!" Kurama interrupted scratching his ear.
"Hush!" Naoko snapped at him.
"I think you need to start at the beginning of this tale for me to understand properly and maybe I can be of assistance." Hiruzen said.
"Um... well..." Naoko started looking around the room before she nodded her head in confidence feeling the chakra barrier placed in the room for privacy. She looked at her audience and at Naru who all waited for the truth. She gulped and let out a sigh. "Well … it all started on when Naru was eight..." She began.
