Their mom drove them all home. Their dad was going to drive but Leann wouldn't let go of him. "I think maybe when Doctor Pfaff comes to the house this weekend. He should talk to you a little bit too sweet girl. That was scary what happened this morning wasn't it?"
His sister spoke, "Yeah mommy. But I am glad we don't have to lie anymore. That we can tell everyone who daddy really is."

They got home and they were all tired from the day. Their mother ran out got Marvelous Marvin's for all of them. She did not feel like cooking. Leann stayed attached to their father until bedtime. When Leann came up to Matty. "Matty if you want to sleep in my room with me again tonight. I don't mind. I kind of don't want to sleep alone tonight after everything." Matty nodded and signed. "Ok. I would like that. I don't want to be alone after today either."

Their parents tucked them in. Leann looked at Matty. "I wish I had been as brave as you were today. You didn't cry at all. You were amazing at that shooting game too." Matty's face got red. "Thanks. Leatherneck's virtual shooting gallery game is really easy." Leann looked at him. "Isn't that like shooting a real gun though? That game. Have you ever shot a real gun Matty?" Matty nodded yes.

"Did daddy teach you?" Matty nodded no. "I learned from the bad men." She looked at him. "What was it like? When you were with the bad men?" Matty didn't want to tell her too many details. He did not want to scare her more than she already was. "It was scary. But dad rescued me. That was the best when he took me with him. He was sad about mom. Now that I know mom, I think I would have been sadder too when she died."

Leann nodded. "I know what you mean. Mommy, Phillip & Jamie they would get sad about daddy sometimes. But I only ever heard stories about him. It wasn't the same for me. Daddy is so much better than the stories they told me about him." Matty smiled. "That is what is like for me too with mom. She is so much better than I imagined she would be. Phillip and Jamie are too. I really like having a little sister too." Leann smiled. "You are even better in person than I pictured you to be too Matty." She snuggled into him and fell asleep on him.

When he woke up the next day. His mom was at the kitchen table reading the paper. He signed to her. "Where's dad?" She smiled. "He went to get a haircut. I called both of your brothers. Jamie is going to come home this weekend. Phillip and Irene send their love. They set a date for the wedding. Thanksgiving weekend. Irene will be 7 months pregnant then. And since it is the holiday, it will be easier for everyone to get time off work. Irene wanted to ask you if you minded if they used some of your trust fund money for the wedding? Your daddy really did not think you would care." Matty smiled. "Dad's right. They can use as much money as they want. You can too if you ever need money for anything, mom. I can't wait to go back. Show you around Mom. You are going to like it there."She smiled at him. "I know I will sweet boy and I can't wait to have you show me around."

The door opened and his grandmother walked in with a huge smile on her face. "Hello darlings." His mom smiled. "Hello mother. Did you have a good time with Harry? Are you just getting in from your date this morning? That is the same outfit you were wearing yesterday when you left." His grandmother got a dreamy look on her face. "Yes. Harry is wonderful. I am so glad he moved back. As for me wearing the same outfit as yesterday. Do you really want the details dear?" His mother laughed a little. "No mother I really don't" "We are going out again tomorrow evening. I forgot how wonderful it feels to be with him. But enough about me. How was your day yesterday? "

Just then the door opened, and his father walked in with short hair and clean shaven. Matty had never seen his dad look so good. His hair had been shorter when he rescued him, but he had always had a beard.

His grandmother's jaw dropped. "Hi Dotty." His mother laughed. "A lot happened yesterday." His mother told his grandmother the whole story.
"I am so glad you are home but that awful man having you arrested like that in front of the children. Why on earth would he arrest you if he was just going to offer you a job?" His dad nodded. "Nothing that man does makes sense. Believe me I gave him a piece of my mind. I am just glad that when I go back, I won't have to work under him very long. Leann is still a little shaken up by everything though." He grabbed Matty. "This guy is a tough guy though. Was plotting my escape the whole time and was ready to fight anyone for me on a moment's notice." His dad ruffled Matty's hair. "I am so proud of you kid."

His grandmother nodded, "Well I am glad you didn't have to fight anyone Matty. Your arm just healed up." Then Leann came into the kitchen, and she stared at their father, "Oh wow you look so much better now daddy. You look like you used to in the old pictures we have of you."

"Thanks Junior. It feels strange being me again. How are you doing today? Feeling better?" She smiled. "I'm fine. Yesterday was just a little scary. But now we get to keep you. I'm happy about that." Their mother spoke. "Leann your father is not a puppy." Leann smiled. "I don't know mommy, when he had all that hair, he kind of looked a little like a puppy." Their dad picked Leann up and started tickling her. "Yep, you're stuck me with forever now Junior." His whole family was smiling and laughing. Matty was happy. His father and he were going to stay here forever. They didn't have to hide anymore. He loved living on the Hamilton Estate, but it did not have the warmth of Maplewood Drive. This place really felt like it was his home now.

Notes:

I picked Harry Berrigan from Dotty's men because on the show she seemed to be the most into him of her men and I like the actor that played Harry. He will be her date to the wedding next chapter. But I don't have to keep Dotty with Harry for the sequel if anyone has any suggestions on who I should hook Dotty up with.

Next chapter: You are cordially invited to the wedding of Irene Maria Kovacs Hamilton & Phillip Thomas King
