"Get your very own moray eel puppet! Available in two variants! Fun for everyone! Just slide your hand in the slot on the eel's back and move the little guy's mouth! Out now in select stores!"
"A moray eel puppet...?" Jade's eyes widened as the commercial played, showing the people in the video playing with the puppets and even biting each other with it.
"This one kinda looks like you, doesn't it?" Yuu pointed out, pausing at the part where the two variants were shown and pointed to the one with upward slanted eyes.
"Is that so?" Jade laughed. "Perhaps I should get one of my own."
Not a good idea. Yuu wanted to say but kept quiet, seeing how Jade seemed invested to get one of his own. Once the mer set his eyes on something he wanted, it was impossible to make him drop it.
"I must have one." Jade declared, putting his phone down on his lap and Yuu could've sworn he saw sparkles in his eyes. "I do wonder if Sam has them in stock already..."
"These are newly released, give it a day or two." Yuu reminded. Jade was practically vibrating in excitement like a child, giddy by the thought of simply owning an eel puppet.
"Dear, have you forgotten?" He raised an eyebrow. "This is Sam we are talking about. He may have gotten some already."
"Oh..." Yuu realized. "Well, do you wanna check?" He offered. Like a happy puppy, Jade immediately sprung to his feet, tugging on your arm to drag you to the Mystery Shop. "That's a yes..." He mumbled, trying to keep up with him.
The two of them reached the store and it was jam packed. The line started from the inside and extended all the way to the outside. The both of you clearly weren't expecting the puppets to attract a large crowd.
"Wow, you're right." Yuu said. The line was barely moving, some have even pulled out foldable chairs to sit and rest their legs or placed a reservation marker so that their spot wouldn't be stolen in case they needed to temporarily leave the line.
"Don't let go." Jade instructed as he began to push through the crowd to get inside the store. Yuu kept a firm grip on his hand as the both of them fought their way in, mumbling "sorry" and "excuse me" every once in a while.
Finally, the two of thrm were able to reach the counter, which was less crowded but still had a lot of people bustling. Sam was there, along with two students who volunteered to do extra manpower due to the large crowd.
"Welcome, little imps!" Sam greeted, waving at the two of them. "I'm a little tied up here, as you can see. Everyone is scrambling for these little guys!" He dramatically presented a shelf filled with what you two were looking for: the eel puppets. Jade's face lit up, like a child in a toy store.
"They're there..." Jade happily mumbled. He was practically beaming in excitement when he saw what they looked like in person.
"Ah, you two are here for then as well, I take it." Sam said, taking two puppets from the shelf and presenting them to the both of them. They almost looked like plushies but the small slit opening at their backs was the tell tale sign that they were puppets. "How did I get them already? I have my sources~" He winked.
"Wonderful." Jade said, immediately taking out his wallet. "I shall take this one." He pointed to the one that looked like him.
"THANK YOU!" Sam said as he put away the other one that suspiciously looked like Floyd and wrapped the puppet in a cloth to make it look like it was snuggled in a blanket then handed it over to Jade. "Enjoy your new friend!"
Jade eagerly took the wrapped up puppet and held back the urge to squeal right there in the store as you tugged him out of the cramped building. "Alright, come on, let's get moving..." Yuu mumbled, getting back outside. Somehow the line got longer compared to when the two of them first arrived but that wasn't important right now.
They both went back to their cuddle spot, which was by a big tree. Jade unwrapped the eel puppet and immediately slid his hand through the opening, moving the puppet's mouth with his fingers. "Hi! I'm Morry!" He said in a comical cartoony voice, which made Yuu laugh.
"Morry? Really?" Yuu said in-between giggles. "It hasn't been an hour and you already gave it a name."
"Well, everyone needs a name!" Jade continued to speak in that silly voice, roleplaying as Morry. "Do you want to be my friend?" He asked. Yuu decided to play along.
"Well, it's nice to meet you, Morry." Yuu replied then shook the puppet's tail. "I'll be your friend."
"Wonderful!" Morry cheered. "I can't wait to go on adventures with you! Whether on land or under the sea! It'll be so much fun!" He rambled.
"Well, do you mind if I bring along someone, too?" Yuu asked. Morry tilted his head.
"Who's that?" He wondered. Yuu let out a soft giggle and gently pushed Morry aside, seeing Jade's confused expression.
"That someone is the one in front of me looking like a confused kid." Yuu joked, which caused Jade to blush. "You really looked cute back there when Sam showed you the puppet." He pointed out.
"Well...it is not every day I get to indulge in things like this." Jade admitted. He tilted his hand down to make it look like that Morry was also embarrassed.
"Well, if you want, I can get a custom made one so that you don't feel left out." Yuu proposed. Jade and Morry lit up.
"Yipee! A friend! A friend!" Morry cheered. The two of them laughed and spent the entire day cuddling under the shade of the big tree.
Jade later messed with Azul and Floyd back in the dorms using Morry.
