-Paris-
Robin sat up in bed, sweating and panting. One word going through her mind. "Jason." she shook her head slightly to clear it and the pain in her heart still there, as she got out the bed to get a glass of water. "What's wrong Jason?" she whispered, "What's happening?" she goes to the window and looks out. "Please God let him be okay." she says and sits back down on the bed. "He has to be okay." she thinks getting up and pacing. She felt a twinge in her heart and sighs, "He's not okay." she says with her eyes heavenward. "Oh Jason, what have you gotten yourself into." she says quietly pacing.
-Port Charles-
Jason Morgan lay in the snow, bleeding he opened his eyes a bit when he felt someone standing over him. All he saw was the dark hair, "Robin." he whispered.
And then she spoke, "No."
It wasn't Robin and it would probably never be her again.
"Let me help you." She said gently kneeling next to him. "You're hurt."
Jason focused his eyes on the lady beside him, "Brenda." He breathed through the pain, "Robin. Get Robin."
"I will." She said with a sigh, "Just come with me first." She lifted him under the arm, "I'll take you to Sonny's, he'll help you. He'll know what to do." Brenda said lifting him up higher.
"No." Jason said with as much force he could muster, "Take me-" he said but didn't finish his sentence because he passed out.
"Jason." Brenda said loudly, "Jason." She tapped the side of his face, no response. She looked around; her car was too far to take him back to. She spotted the boxcar, "Come on Morgan. I'll be damned if I let you die on me." She said hoisting him up and carrying him over to the boxcar.
~Boxcar~
Brenda somehow managed to get Jason up into the boxcar, and away from the open door. "Okay. I can't call Sonny." She muttered and began pacing, "Robin's in Paris and Johnny's on duty." She said still muttering to herself, "Damn it Sonny. What have you done now?"
"No Sonny." Jason said waking up slightly. "Robin."
"Okay. Okay." Brenda said, "But you're not leaving me many options here Jason. Who can I call? I can't do this alone you know. I'm not a doctor damn it."
"Mom." Jason said with a grunt. "Monica."
"You want me to call your mother?" Brenda asked and Jason nodded, "Won't she tell?"
"No hospital. No Sonny. Mom." Jason said again before passing out.
"Alright, you win." Brenda said and got her cell out, to call the hospital. "I need to speak with Dr. Monica Quartermaine now. It's an emergency."
"Okay Ma'am. I'll connect you to her office." The nurse who answered the phone said. And quickly transferred Brenda.
"Damn it answer the phone." She groaned and sighed in relief when she heard Monica's voice. "Monica, it's Brenda. Jason's been hurt."
"Where is he?" Monica demanded.
"We're at the boxcar. He's asking for you. Can you come?" Brenda said in a rush, "It's bad Monica. Please. He won't let me call anyone else."
"And he probably won't go to the hospital?" Monica said grabbing her bag, coat and keys. "I'm heading out now. Try to keep him conscious."
"Okay. But hurry Monica." Brenda said hanging up. Turning back to Jason she said, "You're mom's on her way Jason." She noticed he was unconscious again, "Come on Morgan. Monica said you had to stay conscious." She took a deep breath and screamed, "Wake up."
Jason stirred and opened one eye, "Robin?" he said softly, "Hurts."
"I know. Monica's on the way." Brenda said.
"Thanks." He said in a low voice.
"Monica said keep you conscious." Brenda said kneeling beside him she tried to gently ease his coat off him. She takes in a breath, when she sees his wound. "Oh god. What happened to you?"
"Sonny." Jason said starting to close his eyes.
Brenda pressed none to gently on his wound. "Uh uh. You have to stay awake." She said and smiled in spite of the seriousness of the situation when she saw him open his eyes again. "Now what about Sonny?"
"Brenda." Monica called from the doorway of the boxcar. She sat her things inside and lifted herself into the car.
"Thank God you're here." Brenda said relieved.
Monica quickly checked him over and made a makeshift bandage, "I need to get him someplace safe. Somewhere with better light, where I can work on him. Where can we go?"
"My place." Brenda said automatically.
"No Johnny. Sonny." Jason said with a groan.
"Stop being pigheaded Morgan. Johnny's your best friend. He won't tell Sonny." Brenda said leaning down and helping Monica lift him.
They managed to get him out the boxcar and into Monica's car without much trouble. Brenda hurried back to her car and Monica followed her. Brenda sighed with relief to see Johnny's truck in the driveway.
"Johnny." She screamed. And he came rushing out, gun drawn.
"Don't scream like that." He said, "You scared me."
"Jason needs you." She said pointing towards Monica's car. Johnny snapped into action and helped Monica get him in the house and into the guest room.
Brenda was taking off her coat when the phone rang, "I'll get it." She calls, "Hello." She says with a smile.
"Brenda. Can I speak to Johnny?" Robin says.
"Robin? Johnny's a little busy right now. What's wrong?" Brenda says anxiously.
"I really need to speak with Johnny." Robin says insistently, "I just have this really bad feeling that something's happened to Jason. Is Johnny there? Please Brenda." She says desperately.
"Oh Robin." Brenda sighs. And Robin heart sinks.
Paris-
Robin sat down on her bed with a thud, it was as if the air had been knocked out of her, "Bren?" she whispered the tears coming to her eyes, "He's not, I mean, I know he's not, I feel it but I still need-" she trailed off.
"Confirmation?" Brenda said with a nod even though Robin couldn't see her, "I know sweetie. He's been hurt." She sighs, "I found him. He thought I was you at first. He kept calling for you."
Robin blew out a breath in relief, "Has he gone to the hospital?" she asked, but then answered her own question. "Of course not, this is Jason. Did you call someone to look at him? Does Sonny know?" Robin asked in a rush.
"I'm not sure whether, Sonny knows or not. Jason won't let me call him. He almost didn't come with me because of Johnny." Brenda says, "But he did let me call Monica. She's here now. But it's not good Robin?"
"Do you think that I should come home?" Robin says softly.
"Do what's best for you Robin. But he's been asking for you. It may help him, but don't come if the price is too great."
At that moment Johnny comes out, "Is that Robin?" he mouths. Brenda nods and Johnny says softly, "Let me talk to her." Brenda nods and hands him the phone. "Robin. It's me, Johnny."
"How is he?" she says quietly, nervously.
"Not good Robin." he says with a sigh, "He's been slipping in and out of consciousness. It was just a stab wound, but it's deep. Monica, thinks it hit the liver." Johnny pauses, "He keeps asking for you."
"Brenda told me."
"Listen. I love Jason like a brother, but don't come back if you don't want to. Don't come back out of obligation. Do what's best for you okay? He'll understand, if you don't come." Johnny says in a quiet voice.
"I know he will, he's Jason." Robin pauses, "Thanks Johnny. I'll call you guys later, to let you know what I've decided. Give my best to Brenda. And Johnny?" she says suddenly before he hangs up.
"Yeah?" Johnny says.
"Take care of him for me. Make sure he's okay." Robin says.
"Always." Johnny says and then adds, "But you're the best medicine for him right now." He says before he hangs up.
Robin lays down on her bed and stares up at the ceiling. "What should I do Stone? Help me."
As Robin says those words, Stone appears before her, "Oh Robin. My beautiful Robin." he says and she looks up a look of surprise on her face.
"Stone." She whispers.
"Such heavy things on weighing on your heart." He says.
"I still love him Stone. But I don't know if I'm ready to see him again." Robin says softly.
"I know you do. And he loves you. He has to make it right with you before anything else happens." Stone says, "It'll be hard I know. But right now, Jason's lost everything. You're his only hope of getting through this."
"Everything?" Robin whispers, "What? Why? How?" she stammers, "What about Sonny?"
"Sonny's too wrapped up in his own problems or supposed problems to notice or care about anyone else. He's lost too, but he has to find his way on his own. Sonny's not the same person we knew." Stone says sadly.
"What should I do?" Robin asks.
"Follow your heart. Do what's in your heart, that's the only way you'll know what's right for you." Stone says. "A love like yours. Like how you are able to love, it's rare. Once you've touched someone's heart. Let them in. It never leaves them." Stone looks at Robin with love in his eyes. "I'll always love you Robin, but Jason needs you now."
"I love you too Stone." Robin whispers and just as suddenly as Stone appeared, he was gone.
Robin got up and dialed Brenda and Johnny again, "I'm on my way." She says and hangs up, going to her closet to pack. She called the airline and gets on the next scheduled flight. All packed, she grabs her bags and heads out. She's outside, before she gets into the waiting cab and says, "Hang on Jason. I'm coming." She says with a look up towards the sky. She smiles and nods slightly before getting in the cab. "Thanks Stone." She says softly as she closes the door. "À l'aéroport s'il vous plaît she says in perfect French. Et hâte." [Translated: To the airport please. And hurry.]
Monica comes out of Johnny and Brenda's back room. "I'm worried about him." She says sitting down at the kitchen table with them. "He's agitated and keeps asking for Robin. And his bouts of consciousness are getting fewer."
"What does that mean?" Johnny asked.
"It could be an infection." Monica says and hesitates before she asks the next question. She knew that the breakup had been bad, "Have either of you tried to contact Robin yet?"
"Umm." Brenda says looking away, "No, she called us. It was kinda freaky actually. She knew that something had happened to him already."
"How?" Monica asked.
"I don't know." Brenda answered.
"It's possible that those 2 love each other, that much that even though they're apart, that the connection that they shared, wasn't broken." Johnny said looking away from their surprised eyes.
"I guess that's possible." Monica says, "I've heard of similar cases, but they usually involved a blood relation." She sees the time, "I'm going to drop this off at the lab and I'll stop by tomorrow to check up on him." She stands, "He should probably sleep most of the night." They get up and walk her out. Johnny watches her, to her car and then closes the door and leans up against it.
Brenda comes to him and wraps her arms around his waist and he does the same and pulls her close resting his head on hers. "He's going to be okay." She whispered.
"I hope so." He says kissing the top of her head.
-A While Later-
"Would you stop already?" Brenda says as Johnny gets up for the 4th time in an hour. "He's not a child."
"What if he wakes up?" Johnny asks sitting back against the couch.
"Monica said he should sleep through the night." Brenda reminded him.
"Now whose making him sound like a child?" Johnny said smirking at her.
"Well he is, what like 5 or 6?" she laughs. "He's fine Johnny." The doors open and we can hear him if something happens. He looks up at her and she shakes her head, "Fine. We'll go buy a baby monitor tomorrow. How's that?"
"I like that idea." Johnny says seriously.
"I knew you were going to say that." She says hitting him with a laugh. She leaned over and kissed him gently, "We'll go buy a baby monitor for our very grown, usually obnoxious baby."
"I love you. You know that right?" he asks pulling her into his arms.
"You better." She says leaning her head on his chest.
-Early Morning-
Robin knocks on the door hesitantly and wipes her eyes; she could feel his pain even stronger. She stands there, fiddles with the strap of her purse and is stifling a yawn when Johnny opens the door. "Any change?" she says looking up at him.
"I'm sorry Robin." Johnny says hugging her, and then escorting her inside. "Bren's sleep and Jason's in the spare room."
"Can I..." she trails off taking off her coat. He nods and takes her to the door.
"He hasn't woken up all night." Johnny says.
"His body's trying to heal." She says softly, not tearing her eyes from the sight before her. "Thanks Johnny." She says walking in. He stands at the door and watches as she sits on the bed beside him, she could hear his breathing, and knew that he was in pain. Johnny turns, and goes back to his and Brenda's bedroom. "I'm here Jason." She says softly and runs her hand along his face, tracing his jawline. "It's okay." She whispers, placing her hand on his hand and smiles gently as his breathing evens out at her touch. She felt his hand twitch and squeeze hers lightly, "I'm going to take care of you." She says squeezing his hand back. She lays down gently beside him and watches him for a while before falling off to sleep herself.
Jason awoke and peered at the woman beside him, "Robin?" He murmurs.
"Mmm?" she says still sleepy.
"You always do this." He says quietly. 'If this is a dream, don't wake me up.' He thinks.
"That's cause you're so warm." She says her words slurred with sleep. Then realizing what she said and where, she was she bolts up and away from him, straightening her clothes. "How are you?" she asks feeling his forehead.
"Sore." He says. "Tired."
"That's understandable." Robin replies, getting off the bed, as she starts straightening and fussing with the covers, out of nervousness. "Are you comfortable?" she asks.
"As much as I can be." He replies.
"You must be thirsty. I'm going to get you some water." She says and bolts from the room, nearly running into Johnny who was on his way into check on Jason.
"You okay?" he asks and she nods, "Don't tell me you started fighting already." He says.
"No." Robin says and looks up at him, "I was just going to get him some water. He's up if you want to talk to him."
"Thanks. I'm just going to check on him before I head off to work." Johnny says and goes into the room.
"You okay man?" Johnny asks leaning against the door.
"Could be better." Jason remarks.
"Wanna tell me what happened?" Johnny asks.
"Not really." Jason says and looks away.
Johnny sighs, "What am I going to tell Sonny?" he asks.
"How about fuck you?" Jason says a bit angrily. Johnny stands up straighter at that. "Sorry." Jason mumbles.
"What's going on man?" Johnny asks again.
"I don't want to talk about it." Jason says. "Tell Sonny, I'm dead or I'm out of town. I don't care." Jason says turning away. The talking is starting to drain him.
"Fine man." Johnny says, "You know the number, if you need anything." Jason nods and Johnny does also before leaving.
"Here's-" Robin says but stops when she sees Jason's eyes are closed and he's resting. "Oh Jason." She whispers. "What happened?" she sighs, W'hy did Stone say you needed me?' she wonders quietly. She moves over to the bed and straightens the covers, she brushes some hair away from his forehead and kisses him gently, "I'm going to be in the next room, if you need me." She says and leaves the room quietly.
She misses Jason's mumbled, "I'll always need you."
-HarborView Towers-
~Hallway outside PH#1~
The elevator dings and Johnny steps cautiously towards it, his hand on his gun.
"You know, I've always hated when you guys did that." Brenda remarks looking at him with a slight frown.
"Job hazard." he shrugs. Eyeing her bags he asks, "What's in the bags?"
"Well." she says, "Can you take a break?"
"Not really." Johnny sighs.
"Well I'll make this quick then." Brenda says setting the bags down on she quickly takes out what's inside. "I didn't know which one to get?" she says holding up the boxes for his inspection.
"I wasn't serious Bren about last night." Johnny laughs, "Plus Robin's here?" he whispers leaning towards her.
"I know." she whispers. "And you were serious." she laughs.
"Maybe just a little." Johnny says with another laugh causing Sonny to come out into the hallway.
"Jason?" Sonny asks then sees Brenda, "Oh." and noticing the baby monitors in her hands says, "Oh."
"Hello Sonny." Brenda says coolly.
"I guess congratulations are in order." he remarks with a nod towards the boxes that she's holding. Before Brenda could reply Sonny turns to Johnny and says, "I'm happy for you Johnny. Why didn't you tell me?" he says in that demanding tone of his.
"I just told him." Brenda replies.
Johnny looks from Sonny to Brenda shocked. "What?" he says incredulously.
"Don't yell at her." Sonny says angrily, "She's pregnant." Sonny hits him in the arm, "Now apologize to your fiancée." he demands.
"First of all she's not my fiancée." Johnny informs him.
"You mean to tell me that she's pregnant with your child and you're not going to marry her." Sonny looks at him disbelieving.
"She's not pregnant." Johnny says.
"Then why does she need the baby monitors Johnny." Sonny asks.
"I'm sorry Johnny." Brenda says sadly, "I know that this is a shock and all and that we hadn't really planned for this right now." she says with a sniffle. "I probably should have told you differently. But I was scared. I'm sorry." she says softly looking up at him with tears in her eyes.
Johnny steps towards Brenda watching her face carefully, "Bren?" he says softly. She nods and he opens his arms towards her and she goes into them instantly, "Why didn't you say anything?" he hugs her to him and the pulls back and looks at her, "I'm so sorry baby. I thought this was about, well you know..." he trails off.
"Yeah, I know." Brenda nods, "I'm sorry." she says again.
"You know what this means right?" he says with a smile.
"We need a bigger place?" Brenda smiles.
Sonny clears his throat and says, "I hate to breakup this heartwarming moment." his tone sarcastic. "But I need to know where Jason is?"
"I haven't seen him since last night boss." Johnny says, "And I tried his cell and either it's off or he's not answering it."
"Find him Johnny." Sonny says turning to go back into the penthouse. "Now." he demands shutting the door with a snap.
Johnny groans and looks at Brenda, "I really want to know what happened last night."
"Me too babe." Brenda says giving him a quick kiss. "Since you're supposed to find Jason can you leave?"
"Yeah." Johnny nods, knocking on the door and opening it slightly, "I'm going out to look for Jason." he calls. Hearing Sonny's okay, Johnny closes the door, takes Brenda's hand and they step toward the elevator. "Are you really pregnant or was that just for Sonny's benefit?" he asks as they get onto the elevator and the doors close.
Brenda squeezes his hand gently and looks at him, "What if I told you I am?" she asks.
Johnny & Brenda House Kitchen
Robin stood with her back against the counter, her arms crossed, as she absently stared out at nothing. She was waiting for 2 things, the water to boil for tea, and for Monica to finish looking at Jason. The tea was more so that she could have something to do, than anything while she waited. Jason hadn't woke once since he had fell asleep earlier, and worried, she had called Monica.
Monica came into the kitchen and set her bag down on the counter. "Robin." she says, still in her doctor's voice.
Robin immediately pulls out of her reverie, "Is he okay?" she asks
"He has an infection." Monica states her tone professional and emotions detached. "I gave him something for that and hopefully to break the fever."
"What about for the pain?"
"I game him a shot of Tylenol #3. I didn't want to give him anything stronger until he regained consciousness, and remained conscious for at least 3 to 6 hours at a time and didn't lapse back into long bouts of sleep." Monica explained.
"I understand." Robin nods.
"I have every confidence that he will pull through this Robin. Jason's strong."
"I know." Robin says quietly.
"Do you mind if I ask you something?" Monica asks going from doctor to mother mode.
"Sure." Robin says as they sit down at the dining room table.
"What are you doing here?" Monica asks.
"Jason needs me." she states simply.
Monica nods, "How did you know?"
"I can't explain it Monica. I just did." she shrugs and gets up and goes to the window. "He needed me and I came. I don't know how else to say it."
Monica nods again, "I know that I'm butting in where my opinion doesn't belong." she pauses hesitantly, "But what's going to happen now?"
Robin turns and looks at her slightly confused.
"I mean, now between the 2 of you." she asks.
"Nothing has changed Monica." Robin informs her, "Jason and I, are still not together. The things that tore us apart are still there."
"But you still came to him." Monica questions. "Why?"
"He needed me." Robin says simply, as if the answer were obvious. And to her and Jason it was just that simple and obvious. "Just because we're apart, doesn't mean that I don't still love him." she thinks. "He needed me." she says again with a shrug.
A laughing, happy Johnny and Brenda enter the home and are surrounded by quietness. Johnny takes Brenda's hand and leads her into the guest bedroom where Jason is at. They see Robin curled up next to him sleeping and Jason just laying there silently. With his eyes open, not really focusing on anything but Robin laying next to them. His eyes move from Robin to Johnny and Brenda in recognition when they enter.
"How are you feeling?" Brenda asks going to sit on the edge of the bed.
He shrugs not saying anything, meeting her eyes briefly.
"Sonny was asking about you all day." Johnny informs him.
Jason just looks at him and nods.
"What happened Jase? I need to know?" Johnny asks.
"Why?" Jason says speaking for the first time since they arrived home. His voice was a bit scratchy.
"Here." Brenda says after going to get him some water.
"You're putting me in a bad spot." Johnny tells him, "And I need to know, so I can know what I'm going to tell Sonny."
"Tell him to go jump off the Elm Street Pier." Jason says angrily and shifts, causing him to wince slightly in pain and wake Robin.
"What's wrong?" she demands sitting up immediately, "Are you okay?" she says more gently.
"I'm sorry." Jason says looking at her with a longing in his eyes, "I shifted wrong."
"You have to be careful Jason." Robin scolds, "You aren't even at 25% yet. You have to be more careful." she says with a hidden meaning.
"I will be." he nods and turns to Johnny with a sigh. "Okay. I'll tell you." Jason remarks, "But you might want to sit down first."
"Do you want us to leave?" Robin asks out of politeness. Not really wanting to but she would leave if he asked.
"No." Jason says taking her hand briefly. She nods and turns to face him again. "Stay. You should both probably hear this."
Brenda and Robin exchange looks and nod. Robin moves closer to the end of the bed towards Brenda and Johnny sits on the other side of Brenda who leans up against him.
Jason sighs and looks at them all briefly before beginning, "I had that meeting the other day remember." Jason says looking at Johnny.
"Yeah, you said something was off about it but you couldn't figure it out and Sonny wasn't listening to you."
"Yeah." Jason nods. "Well something was definitely off." he says moving a hand to his wound.
"What happened?" Brenda asks.
"I got there and it started okay but you ever get the feeling that something's about to happen." They all nod, "I shouldn't have gone. I should have trusted my gut."
"If you hadn't of gone then you, Sonny and probably me would have been killed." Johnny reminds him.
"I know." Jason says with a nod, "Anyway it started normally. But then they started arguing something about drugs. I told them no. We don't run drugs. They said dirty was dirty and the money doesn't know what it comes from." Johnny nods, he'd been to a few of those meetings. "They start in on me. I'm getting to much to fast. It's all to soon. They mention Hannah." Johnny and Brenda nods while Robin looks slightly confused.
"I'll explain later." Brenda tells her and Robin nods.
"Anyway Tone starts in with Newt. Pac jumps in and all hell breaks loose." Jason says with a groan as he shifts again to sit up straighter. "Tito comes up to me and we get into it. Francis and Rick are fighting and it's just crazy." Jason pauses to take a breath, "It was a setup."
"What happened?"
"Francis was hurt bad. He's laying there bleeding and I'm kneeling over him. Trying to help him and then Rick comes up to me. I turn thinking that he's going to help me get Francis to the car. He stabs me."
"What?" Johnny yells incredulously.
"Yeah he was real talkative while I was laying there." Jason says bitterly, "Talking about Hannah being the first one, and no one's going to believe who the second one is. He mentioned that she's good. Already in." Jason and Johnny lock eyes. Johnny nods, groans and shakes his head knowing where Jason was going with this.
"Are you sure?" he asks.
"Not yet." Jason replies. "I need proof." he laughs bitterly, "Can't really get it like this and you know how he's been since this Hannah thing. He won't listen to anybody."
"I know." Johnny acknowledges, "What are we going to do?"
"Get the proof." Brenda answers for Jason.
"Oh no." Johnny says standing up again, "There's no way you're doing this sweetheart."
"Fine." Brenda says with a huff crossing her arms.
"Why can't she help?" Robin asks.
"She's pregnant." Johnny answers.
"Hello. We're getting off the subject here." Jason says. Then Johnny's words hit him, "What?" he says disbelieving. "I'm sorry." Jason says looking at Brenda and then Johnny.
"Why?" he asks confused.
"She helped Monica and had to carry me to the boxcar." Jason tells him. Turning to Brenda he say, "I'm sorry Bren. If anything happens because of me I'll never forgive myself."
"I'm fine." Brenda says looking from Jason to Johnny, "And so is the baby."
"I can't believe you're having a baby." Robin says softly. "I'm so happy for you." she says with a happy laugh as she hugs her, "I'm going to be an aunt."
"No you're not." Brenda says and Robin frowns slightly, "You're going to be a Godmother." she smiles and Robin smiles and hugs her again. "And Jason's going to be the Godfather." Brenda tells her, "Can you handle that?"
Robin nods looking at Jason from a sideways glance, "I think so. We work pretty well together when we have to."
Robin blows out a breath and looks at Jason, "So Francis is." She trails off.
Jason nods, "Yes." He sighs, "I couldn't do much in my position."
"I'm sure you tried." She says softly.
"Who do you think it is?" Brenda asks.
"There's only 2 people devious enough, and clever enough to have gotten in so far without a worry." Johnny says.
"One is Robin." Jason says and she frowns, "Which we know it's not."
They all nod.
"The other is Carly." Jason tells them.
"What?" Brenda and Robin shriek.
"I would have said Brenda but she's already been caught." Jason reminds them.
"Hey." Brenda protests.
"Sorry." Jason mumbles.
"You must be feeling better." She informs him.
"A bit." He says with a shrug, "Anyway, I figure it has to be Carly."
"Why?" Robin asks.
Jason turns to her. "She's been after me for years. You saw it, I saw it but ignored it. Why would she suddenly do something that would make me hate her?"
"What?" Robin asks softly.
"Sleep with Sonny."
"What?" Johnny, Brenda, and Robin say loudly.
"She slept with Sonny." Jason says, "Why did you think I left like that?" Jason asks Johnny.
He shrugs, "I don't know. I wasn't really paying attention." He laughs.
"Uh huh. I know." Jason laughs and then groans, "Out there playing that damn game."
Johnny shrugs, "I've got to do something to occupy my time." He grumbles good-naturedly, "Standing outside a door all day is hard work."
"I wouldn't know." Jason ribs him.
"Jerk." Johnny mumbles, "Brenda's right, you are feeling better."
Jason sighs, "Yeah. Talking helps." He tells them and looks over at Robin, "Someone told me that once." He pauses, "I came in and he was there in his robe. She comes down in his shirt. His unbuttoned shirt." Jason says.
Brenda thinks for a moment, "Carly makes sense, look at all the trouble she's caused. No one is that self-destructive."
"The question is what do we do to stop her." Robin asks.
"We let her think that she's getting what she wants." Brenda says.
Robin looks at her for a moment, "Jason."
"Oh no." Jason protests.
"You want to stop her right." Brenda says. Jason grumbles a yes, "We know she wants to take down Sonny, we need to know why and what she has."
"I hate it when you make sense." Jason says.
"Well get used to it." Brenda tells him, "I know you don't want to hear this, but you were starting to fall for her. We both saw it."
"Yeah man." Johnny agrees.
Jason looks at Robin, "Yeah. I didn't want to hear that." He says softly, "Further reminders of what a jerk and idiot that I've been."
"Sorry." Brenda shrugs, "Point is she wants you."
"But Carly isn't stupid." Robin reminds them, "Won't she wonder why Jason's so into her all of a sudden?"
"We're still friends. Or rather we were." Jason says quietly.
"And Jason was beginning to weaken." Brenda says again.
"I wish you would stop saying that." Jason tells her.
"Me too." Robin agrees.
Jason sighs, "It could work." He nods, "Sonny chased her back upstairs and they were arguing. He was calling her a tramp and a slut."
"Is Elizabeth going to be a problem?" Johnny asks.
"Why would Elizabeth be a problem?" Jason asks.
"Sonny told her that you were in love with Elizabeth." Johnny says.
"Which is what set her off." Brenda nods.
We're going to have to find out if she was ever alone at any point without Sonny. Or did she make a call before. Is that what caused the meeting to go wrong? Robin tells.
And Jason's going to have to face Sonny. Play both sides. Johnny puts in.
But he's not going to be able to do that. Robin tells him, He may be better now but lying is still hard for him.
I think he can handle it. Brenda says.
Stop talking about me like I'm not in the room. Jason says a bit angrily.
Sorry. They all say.
Okay. So from what Johnny heard he begins.
Standing out the door has it's advantages. Johnny laughs, I'm not playing with my games all the time.
Like I was saying, Jason says glaring at Johnny, Johnny heard Sonny tell her that I was in love with Elizabeth. Thats clue #1 that he's losing it. Sonny knows where my heart is, where it still is. He glances briefly at Robin, And then they probably argued and ended up in bed together. I come back from the meeting, stabbed, and she comes down in his shirt. He pauses, Then they go back upstairs and argue some more. Jason pauses thinking. All right. I'll go see Sonny in a few days. Once I get up to at least 25%. He says with a yawn.
Okay. Johnny nods, Thats enough for now, we should let Jase get some rest.
Okay. Brenda says standing up, I'm kinda tired myself.
Umm hmm. Johnny says walking up behind her and whispering something in her ear.
Not that tired. Brenda laughs as Johnny wraps his arms around her from behind and they walk towards their bedroom with him nibbling on her ear.
I'm going to go finish studying. Robin says helping him settle back against the covers.
Robin? Jason calls to her when she gets to the door.
Robin turns and looks at him, but doesn't say anything.
I'm sorry. He says in a low voice, closing his eyes after a few moments of watching her.
Me too. She says in a soft tone. Me too. She repeats quietly turning back around and going into the living room. "Me too." she says sitting on the couch with a sigh and pulling out her anatomy and physiology book. "Me too." she glances at Jason's room and sighs again before starting her studying.
Robin laid next to Jason as she had done every night since her arrival. Though this time was different and since they were both awake at the same time, Robin knew that she couldn't avoid this conversation any longer. She looks up at him with sad eyes, We have to talk. She says in a quiet voice.
I know. Jason says sadly as well, his words coming out on a sigh.
I don't understand something Jason. She says sitting up and turning so that she was facing him.
Jason nods and Robin helps him sit up as well.
Why me? Why call for me and not her or Elizabeth Webber?
Jason doesn't reply he just looks down. He looks up after a moment, They're not you.
We've been over for awhile Jason. She sighs, Even before we broke up, wed been over for awhile. And I know you're wondering why I stayed. Truthfully, I am too. Maybe it was out of need or habit or she trails off.
Love. He offers quietly.
Yeah, but as I told you before, as you know, love isn't always enough. It shouldn't be the only thing, the only reason. Robin replies.
I know. He pauses and takes a slow breath, I'm glad you came. He nods, I don't know why I called for you. I really hadn't intended to. I just wanted to make it to the box car and die. I figured that Johnny or someone would come looking for me in a few days and find me. Maybe he'd miss me, maybe Brenda," he shakes his head to clear his thoughts, "You'd be better off and I'd be dead and
No. Robin says harshly cutting him off, Don't you do that. Don't say that. She says surprising him with her outburst.
What? he sighs. Give up. He shakes his head, Why wouldn't I? I didn't have anything to live for here. You were gone. A woman that I thought was in love with me, that I thought that I was beginning to fall for, beginning to have feelings for just slept with my best friend. For what? Revenge? Desperation? he says softly. I asked for you, he begins again, Because out of everyone in my life, you mean the most to me. Out of everyone I wanted you to know that I was sorry. That I was and still am a fool. That I wish I could change things between us. That...
Jason. She says softly, Don't.
It's okay Robin. You don't have to pretend with me. I know the truth. When I saw Brenda there, I thought it was you. For a small fraction of a moment, I had my hope and my life back. I thought that you had come home to help me, to save me. He whispers.
Save you from what?
Myself. He says and rushes on before she can add anything to that, Why did you come?
Robin shrugged, I woke up. That night. Jason nods, And I felt this pain. In my heart Jason, it went so deep. It was like in my soul." she pauses and blows out a breath looking away from his intense gaze and those eyes that she could drown in before returning her eyes to his, "I knew you were hurting. I felt it everyday.
And I knew you were okay, without me as I knew you would be. Should be. I think that's what hurt me the most. That I was no longer apart of your life.
When you were stabbed, she pauses, I felt this really sharp pain run through me. She pauses again, It woke me up. She sighs, I knew and I prayed that you were okay. Still breathing, still alive. She sighs again and looks at him, I called Bren looking for Johnny. I thought that you had been, that you were It hurt so much, I was scared that you... she trails off and looks away before he could see the tears in her eyes, And I didn't want to come Jason. I didn't want to get near you again. Because of the history and the pain. Yeah, I was okay but I was still alone. My heart will only always be yours Jason, you should know that. I didn't want to come, the risks were too great.
Why did you come then? he asks sadly.
The risks were too great not to. She says. She stifles a yawn and looks at the time, We should probably get some sleep. Or try to anyway.
Jason nods and Robin helps him lay down again. She settles next to him, Robin? he calls slowly and she raises her eyes to his, Can I hold you? Thats all I want. Nothing more.
She nods and scoots closer to him, Not like I won't end up here anyway. She says with a smile that he returns.
Jason lies there, listening to her breathing even out as she listens to his heartbeat as she falls to sleep. My heart will only always be yours too Robin. he whispers once he was certain that she was asleep, before slowly drifting off himself.
~2 weeks later~
Robin had gone back to Paris to make arrangements for her classes (and was due back any day now. Jason was still at Johnny and Brenda's recuperating, he was up and walking around, albeit a bit slowly. And Johnny was driving Brenda crazy about taking it easy and Lucy was driving her crazy about modeling a maternity line for Jax Cosmetics. So Brenda had been spending a lot of time with Jason, hiding out from Johnny and Lucy. Right now they were sitting at the dining room table playing cards.
Talked to Robin lately. Brenda asks with a smirk.
Last night. Jason says almost shyly.
And? she prompts.
And nothing. Jason says quietly, evenly. He sighs, You know that nothings changed. I hurt her. But we can't even begin to work on whatever this is we have. Us.
Is there an us? Brenda asks.
I don't know. Jason says throwing out a card, I want there to be. He briefly meets her eyes before looking back at his cards.
Brenda nods, seeing the truth in his eyes, Just don't hurt her this time. She says
Jason nods, I won't. If she gives me another chance, I promise you I won't.
Brenda nods, Good. She says, Cause best friend or not. If you hurt her again, I'm going to have Johnny shoot you.
Jason nods again and they go back to their game.
The phone rings again for the third time in two hours. If that's Johnny I swear I'm going to have you shoot him. Brenda says with a groan.
Hello. She says with a sigh as she answers the phone.
Sonny's on his way over. Johnny says quickly.
Why? Brenda asks.
I don't know. Johnny says.
Fine. But I reserve the right to shoot him if he pisses me off. Brenda says hanging up.
Feeling violent today Bren? Jason laughs.
Hormones. She shrugs, Oh and Sonny's coming over.
Why? Jason frowns.
Hell if I know. She says getting up with a groan, as there is a knock on the door. That better not be him. She says and waits for Jason to hide before opening the door.
What? she says opening the door angrily.
Hormones Bren? Robin laughs, Or expecting someone else?
Both. She says pulling Robin inside and closes the door after looking around quickly. Sonny's on his way over. Brenda explains and Robin groans, Exactly.
Robin looks around, Where's Jason? He's still here isn't he? He didn't leave didn't he? she says anxiously.
Miss him? Brenda questions. Robin folds her arms and glares at her, Fine. He's in the bedroom hiding. We thought you were Sonny. Robin smiles and heads towards the bedroom. You never let me have any fun. She calls after her.
Jason? Robin calls softly, shutting the door behind her. She sets her coat and bag on the chair, Jason. I'm alone. It's okay. She says again and smiles when he comes out of the closet.
Robin. He says softly, What are you doing here? he walks slowly over to her, I thought you'd be gone another couple of days at least.
She shrugs, You're walking. She says with a smile.
A bit. He says, Still hurts a bit but I'm doing better.
I'm glad. She says softly.
Jason gives her a little hug.
Is it okay to tell you that I missed you? she asks.
Jason nods. I missed you too. He laughs awkwardly.
This is weird. She says sitting down on the bed.
I know. Jason agrees sitting down beside her. How was Paris? School? Did you get everything done?
Fine. There. Yes. She replies, It was weird the first few days. She tells him.
Why? he asks with a frown, Did something happen?
No. she shakes her head, But you get used to sleeping with someone, next to someone and then they're not there.
I know what you mean. He says and groans when he hears Johnny's voice in the living room, Sonny's here.
Brenda said he'd be coming by. She replies standing up, She didn't mention why though?
I don't think Johnny could say. He replies and Robin nods.
They exchange looks and then look at the closet and back to each other, Closet? she asks.
He nods and gets up, being the gentleman he let's her get in and find a spot before going in himself.
I hope we aren't disturbing you. Sonny says in that smooth voice of his. Brenda rolls her eyes at him behind his back.
No. Brenda says I was just playing solitaire to pass the time since Johnny's been all caveman, she pauses, Oops. No that's you who's the caveman. She tells Sonny sarcastically What are you doing here Sonny? I don't have the time nor the patience to deal with you right now? she pauses and gets this innocent look on her face as she touches her stomach.
Is everything okay Bren? Johnny asks speaking up.
She nods, Perfect. She cuts her eyes towards Jason's room. Johnny nods.
Sonny is looking around the house, and his back is to them.
What is he doing here? Brenda mouths.
I don't know. Johnny mouths back just as Sonny turns around.
I wanted to talk to you both about setting up a trust fund for your baby. Sonny says going to sit on the couch.
Trust fund? Brenda questions sitting in one of the chairs. Johnny stands beside her. She looks up at Johnny and he shrugs slightly. This was new.
I want all my employees and their families to know that they're well family. I want them to know that the Corinthos organization is a family and that I care about what happens to them. They're future.
Brenda nods, biting back her retort.
So I would like to, with your permission of course, establish a trust fund for the baby. Sonny says looking from Brenda to Johnny.
Johnny looks down at Brenda who eyes Sonny curiously. She thinks for a moment and takes a breath before saying, I, We she motions to Johnny, Really appreciate that Sonny but I'm being a bit superstitious about the baby. I don't want to really make any plans for the baby's future until I'm past the crisis point.
Sonny nods, I see. He looks at Johnny. Okay then. You'll let me know what you decide when the time comes.
Johnny nods and Sonny stands, Thank you sir. As Brenda said, we appreciate the offer it is very generous of you to do this for us.
You're family Johnny. Sonny says and glances at his watch, You're welfare is important to me. You're a crucial part of this team.
Thank you sir. Johnny says with a nod.
And I was going to do this when Jason returned but he pauses and purses his lips, You're going to be moving up in the organization Johnny. He offers his hand to Johnny, How does 2nd Lieutenant sound?
Thank you sir. Johnny says with a smile shaking his hand. I appreciate the faith that you have placed in me and I look forward to the new opportunities that you have given me.
Thats great Johnny. Brenda says with a forced smile as the doorbell rings. I wonder who that could be.
I'll get it Bren. He says going before Sonny to the door, We should be leaving now anyway sir if we want to make it to the meeting on time.
Sonny nods and says goodbye to Brenda and they leave as Johnny leaves Brenda in the hands of Lucy Coe who has come armed with sketches for that maternity line she was talking about.
Jason's Room, Closet
Robin groans when she hears Lucy's voice, I love Lucy and everything but I hope Bren gets rid of her soon.
What don't like being stuck in the closet with me? Jason says with a slight smile.
It's not that. She sighs, But she trails off without finishing her thought.
Jason smirks slightly; he knew what she was thinking, Yeah. He nods. Robin? he says softly. Whats going on? I mean, with us?
I don't know Jason. I want to be with you, I really do but I'm leery. I don't want to be hurt again. I don't want to open my heart to you again and then have it stomped on.
I wouldn't do that. He whispers.
I thought that the last time too. She whispers back sadly. She sighs, Part of me wants to jump back in with both feet. Thats my heart talking.
And what does your head say?
To test the water first, go slowly. Start over as friends and go from there.
Thats the problem right there Robin. He sighs, I don't think that I could just be friends with you.
I know. She admits, Me either.
It takes Brenda an hour and a half to get rid of Lucy. She goes into Jason room and laughs when she realizes that they're in the closet. Together until they came out as a couple. She knew it's what they both wanted they just had to trust each other again. That was going to be hard since the part that they were trusting the other with was the most fragile part, their hearts and their souls. Half of her, I guess the maternal and loving side wants to leave them in there. But the other half, the big sister part, wants to let Robin out and leave Jason in there to keep him away from her.
She sits down on the bed with a sigh and looks at the door. She smiles wickedly, Another hour couldn't hurt. She thinks and quietly leaves the room.
Closet
Do you hear anything? Robin says with a yawn.
No. Jason says, It should be safe to come out I think.
Yeah. Robin says getting up with Jason's help to open the door. She pauses and rests her head on the door, It's locked. She says.
Jason gets up and tries the door as well, It's locked. He says.
Robin looks up to him with a small glare, I believe I just said that.
Sorry. He shrugs.
Well how did you get out before? she questions.
I didn't close it all the way. He says sinking back to the floor.
This is just great. She mutters. You okay? she asks concerned kneeling beside him.
Just a cramp. He says, And being cooped up in here doesn't help.
Don't tell me you're getting claustrophobic. She laughs.
Not a chance. He laughs, I'm not that much like Sonny. He smirks.
Good. She smiles, I was starting to worry.
It's quiet for a moment, Robin?
Yeah.
I'm sorry.
Don't start Jason. Robin sighs, It's over. I forgive you. Let's just put it behind us. She says honestly.
You just can't forget though can you?
Would you want me to? Would you want to? she asks him tuning so that she could see into his eyes.
No. he admits honestly, I wouldn't.
Jason?
Yeah? he says quietly.
It's all going to be okay.
Which one? he asks.
Both. She says and pauses. Both. She says again with a smile. Robin shifts slightly and leans back, Do you mind? she asks looking over her shoulder at him. Jason shakes his head slightly. Robin smiles and then turns back around before settling back between his legs. Thanks. She says with a yawn.
No problem.
Two hours later
Johnny comes home to a very quiet house. That was unusual. He went into Jason's room to check on him but he wasn't there frowning he went into his and Brenda's room and found her asleep.
Babe. He calls shaking her leg gently.
Mmm Hmm. She mumbles.
Where's Jason?
Oh shit. She jumps up and races into his room. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. She says to the closet door. Guys? she calls when she gets no answer.
Please don't tell me that they're locked in the closet. He says with a laugh.
She nods, I sorta forgot and fell asleep. She says slightly ashamed. She finally gets the door open and stops with a smile motioning for Johnny to come over to the door.
There on the floor outstretched were Jason and Robin. Jason was on the floor, leaning against the wall and Robin was in between his legs, asleep.
Johnny laughing, leans into extract Robin from Jason's embrace and move her to the bed. He pulls back still laughing when Jason tightens his hold on her.
We can't just leave them there. Brenda tells him.
I know but obviously they're comfortable. Johnny shrugs.
But Jason isn't fully healed yet. she reminds him.
Johnny groans, Come on Jase. Wake up.
Jason opens one eye and looks around before opening the other one.
Ready to come out of the closet? Johnny laughs.
Jason glares at him and nods, releasing his hold on Robin so Johnny could pick her up. He places her on the bed before going back to help Jason up.
I'm so sorry Jason. Brenda says.
He nods shortly but doesn't say anything.
I didn't mean to leave you locked in there.
Jason turns to her and tilts her head, Yes you did. He says calmly with a yawn.
Brenda looks down, Okay so I did. I just wanted to help.
It's okay Bren. Jason says moving to the bed and covering Robin with a blanket, I know you meant well.
Well did it help? she prompts with a twinkle in her eye.
It didn't hurt. He replies.
Well that's something. Johnny mutters as they all leave the room.
Living Room
I'm going to need to see Elizabeth. Jason says once they had all settled in.
Brenda nods, I'll call and see if I can get her to come over. She pauses, When?
As soon as possible. Jason says thinking for a second. He adds, Call Emily. Get her to come over and bring Elizabeth with her.
Do you really want Emily involved? Johnny questions.
No. Jason answers, And she's not going to be involved. He pauses, Not much anyway, only on the periphery.
Okay. Brenda says getting up and going to the phone, she makes a quick call to Emily inviting her and Elizabeth over saying that she needed their help with something. Which was partly the truth. She's on her way.
Now what? Johnny says.
We're going to give Carly what she wants by using her main weakness against her.
And what would that weakness be? Johnny asks with a smirk.
Me. Jason responds cockily with a smirk of his own.
Half an hour later
The trio looks towards the door when a light knock sounds. Brenda gets up to open the door. Hey thanks for coming. She says giving Emily and Elizabeth hugs.
You said you needed our help with something. Emily questions.
Yeah. Brenda says stepping aside for them to enter, Come on in and I'll explain everything.
Jason! Emily says rushing over to him. She stops in front of him, eyeing him carefully, Whats wrong? she looks around, Whats going on?
I'm fine. Jason says.
Emily nods and sits down next to him.
Whats going on? Elizabeth asks sitting down on the couch beside Emily.
I need your help with something. Jason tells her honestly.
Okay. Elizabeth nods.
You mentioned Lucky was teaching you about computers. Elizabeth nods, How much did he teach you? Jason questions.
Elizabeth chuckles, Are you asking me if he taught me everything he knows?
Something like that. Johnny answers.
I can get around pretty good. Elizabeth responds.
What I'm about to say can't leave this room? Jason says and Emily and Elizabeth both nod.
Are you in trouble Jason? Emily asks quietly.
Jason shifts so that he is looking in her eyes, Not yet. He replies honestly, I'm trying to stop it from getting to that point.
What do you need us to do? Emily asks.
Help us bring down Carly. Robin says appearing in the doorway of Jason and her room.
Robin? Emily questions looking from Jason to Robin and back again. She gets up and hugs the older girl that she always thought of as a sister.
Hey Emily. Robin says with a smile hugging her back, Elizabeth. She nods.
Hi. Elizabeth replies with a nod as Emily sits back down.
Robin goes and takes a seat on the arm of the sofa next to Jason. Robin looks at Jason, You okay? he nods. You've been up for awhile and being in that closet wasn't exactly the most comfortable. She reminds him with a small glare at Brenda who shrugs.
I'm fine. He says taking her hand a giving it a light squeeze. I'll let you know when I'm not.
She nods and turns her attention back to the others, Where was I? she pauses, Oh yeah, bringing down Carly.
What has the barracuda done now? Emily says with a sneer.
We think she's a plant. Brenda says.
A plant? Elizabeth questions.
FBI. Johnny says softly.
We need to know what she knows and what she plans on doing with it. Robin says.
Cause no one can be that self destructive. Brenda says.
Okay. Emily nods. What do you need us for?
Carly has always wanted one thing. Johnny says.
Jason. Robin mutters angrily.
And she's never liked the fact that she has never been first in his heart. Brenda says.
She can't be somewhere that's already filled. Jason says looking briefly at Robin who blushes slightly.
She's always been jealous of the people that Jason holds close. His friends and those he considers family. Johnny tells them. For all intents and purposes that includes everyone in this room with the exception of Lila and Sonny and Monica to an extent.
The others nod.
She saw us dancing at Kelly's that night. Jason tells Elizabeth.
And of course she jumped to conclusions. Emily says.
But it was innocent. Elizabeth says, I was missing Lucky and you were she trails off and Jason nods.
The others look at the two curiously but they don't offer any other explanation.
But this is Carly were talking about. Brenda reminds her.
True. Elizabeth replies. So what do you need us to do?
Background on Carly for one. Jason says.
And we have to make Carly jealous so were going to need you and Jason to be around each other. Johnny says.
But Elizabeth starts to protest.
Lucky wouldn't mind. Emily says knowing what Elizabeth was thinking, He would want you to help Jason out.
Elizabeth nods, Okay.
What about me?
You. Brenda says, Have the best part of this?
What? Emily says her eyes lighting up.
You get to taunt and antagonize Carly with Jason and Elizabeths relationship. Robin says.
Cool. Emily says, I can definitely do that.
Good. Jason nods, So the plan is tomorrow I go see Sonny and then I arrange for Carly to see Elizabeth and I together going for a ride.
Are you sure you should ride like this? Robin questions him.
Jason groans, I didn't think of that.
How about going to Jakes? Emily suggests.
Jason nods, That would work. He turns to Elizabeth, Are you sure that you're going to be okay with this?
I want to help. Elizabeth says, For all the help you gave me and for helping Lucky when he needed a job and a place to stay.
You don't owe me anything. Jason responds.
I know. Elizabeth says, But I owe Lucky and if Carly is doing something that is going to hurt you then I want to help. She looks at him, I can do this.
Okay. Jason nods.
Then it's all set. Robin says, We start tomorrow.
Sonny's Penthouse
Jason is sitting at the table drinking coffee when Sonny comes down the stairs. Sonny looks surprised when he sees Jason at the table but recovers quickly. Where have you've been? he demanded.
Jason looks at him and tilts his head, his eyes are narrowed, Laying low.
Sonny frowns at that, Why? he asks moving closer to Jason.
Jason pauses before answering and stands slowly. Bad meeting.
What happened?
Jason slowly lifts his shirt and we see his hard 6 pack and the scar. It looks raw and nasty and you can tell it isn't fully healed. This and the fact that Rick was a traitor. Jason lowers his shirt, Francis dead.
Sonny sighs, Listen Jason, about that night.
Jason sits down shaking his head, Don't worry about it Sonny. He looks at him as he sits down, looking him in the eyes, I know it wasn't your fault.
No. Sonny shakes his head, slightly relieved that his neck wasn't in the noose, I could have stopped her. Stopped it.
Carly's pretty unstoppable.
Sonny nods in agreement and then asks slowly, cautiously, So were cool.
Of course Sonny. Jason says looking him in the eye again, I know you didn't do it on purpose. I know how Carly is. She probably came over here mad over something. You tried to talk her down, to calm her down and she came on to you. Probably as a way to get back at me. Jason shrugs, Carly's hot. I used to have sex with her. He chuckles, And she's great in bed. Always real into it. You couldn't resist. Jason smiles, You're only human. Any man would have given in.
Sonny looks shocked again but recovers quickly, not suspecting that Jason would be lying, So you're not mad? he questions cautiously.
No. Jason smiles slowly, I know it wasn't your fault. He says again, It's not like you lied to her or something to get her into bed. He smiles again, I don't blame you.
Sonny nods relieved.
Kelly's
The diner is just settling down after the lunch rush and Elizabeth and Emily are talking when Carly saunters in.
I'm so happy about you and Jason Liz. Emily gushes, At least we get along. She laughs, I couldn't stand that blonde barracuda.
Elizabeth laughs, Thats good. She smiles, We were really worried about your reaction.
I don't care who Jason is with. Emily shrugs, As long as he's happy. She says and pauses and adds, As long as it's not you know who.
I wouldn't talk about your brothers precious little princess Robin like that. Carly sneers.
Emily turns to Carly, I wasn't talking about Robin. She turns back to Elizabeth who laughs.
Then who were you talking about? Carly says, her mind racing to figure out who else it could be.
Emily turns back to Carly and laughs loudly, in her face. Straightening, after a few moments, Emily says, The blond barracuda AKA the vacuous vamp AKA the peroxide piranha is you. Not Felicia, not Tammy, not Chloe, not Katherine Bell and not Lucy. It's you Carly. Emily leans towards Carly even more, I liked Jason with Robin. She was good for him. Actually able to get him to lighten up some, relax. Leaning in closer, Emily looks around as if she's about to spill a secret, she lowers her voice, You know actually looked out for his interests.
Carly stands up haughtily, Listen little girl. She begins with a sneer, Stay out of grownup business.
Elizabeth laughs at that. Since when are you an adult.
Carly turns to Elizabeth with a glare, It's only a matter of time before Jase gets tired of playing with you, you little saint knock off. Carly leans in closer, Let me tell you something Lizzie, she sneers, I got Robin out of Jason's life. It's only a matter of time before I get rid of you too. She smiles slowly, Jason always comes back to me.
Is that so? Jason says his voice booming through Kelly's as he and Johnny stood in front of the door, his arms crossed in front of his chest.
Jason. Carly says happily rushing over to him but he pushes her away.
Jason's eyes are hard and cold when he looks at her. I don't want to hear it Carly. He says, There is no excuse for what you did to me. I don't even know if I'll ever be able to look at you again and not see your betrayal. He leaned closer and said his voice a harsh whisper, See you coming down in his shirt. His open shirt Carly. His eyes flashed hatred I don't care why you did it. Just get away from me. He says his breathing becoming labored cause this is the first time he's really been up and about for more than an hour at a time since the accident.
Jason. Elizabeth says coming over to him, You have got to sit down. She says.
Jason doesn't take orders from you.
Elizabeth sighed, closed her eyes and counted to 10. Back off Carly. She says turning hard eyes to her, This doesn't concern you.
If it concerns Jason it concerns me. Carly says flippantly, defiantly. She moves closer to Jason, What happened Jase?
I knew you shouldn't have gone back to work today. Elizabeth said, I told you it was too soon, but would you listen to me. She pauses, No. What would I know anyway? Right? I'm just the one who's had to take care of you. Watch you bleeding and in pain. I'm just the one that you came to for help. See if I care, get hurt worse. You won't have me feeding you soup and taking care of you. A girl has her standards you know. She rambled, I have my limits. If you don't want to listen, fine. Suffer.
Elizabeth. Jason says.
Johnny has to stop himself from laughing. She was good and Carly was livid with her every word. He had had his doubts but he can honestly say that she was getting into the role. And was following along with the planned script that they had worked out the night before beautifully.
Sorry. She mutters. Sit down. She looks at him with a glare. Jason does and Elizabeth goes into the back and gets a bowl of soup for Jason. Eat. She orders.
I hate soup.
I know. She laughs, But it's good for you.
Would somebody please tell me whats going on? Carly says. What happened to Jason? Johnny? she says turning to the bodyguard.
Rick happened. Johnny hisses watching Carly's expression carefully. While you were upstairs sexing Sonny, Jason was getting stabbed.
Oh my god. Carly says her eyes wide. There was a flash of panic before she covered it with concern. Moving back over to Jason, she pushes Elizabeth away from him. Move. She hisses, I'll take care of him. You just go back to playing with your Barbies.
Elizabeths eyes narrowed and she moved closer to Carly and she shoved her away from Jason. Lifting her hand, she smacked Carly across the jaw. I think you need to stay away from him. All you've done is caused him pain.
Jason saw Carly's hand lift towards Elizabeth and sighed, Carly don't. he orders, Elizabeth is right. Leave me alone. He closes his eyes and sighs again. They are softer when he looks at her, I need you to leave. I can't be around you right now.
Carly nods. I'm not giving up on you Jason Morgan.
Just go Carly.
I'm coming home to you. Me and Michael. Carly says softly in his ear before turning and leaving.
Jason shakes his head and sighs.
Think she bought it? Elizabeth asks.
Yeah. Jason nods, You were good.
Good is an understatement. You were phenomenal. Emily gushes, And you hauled off and smacked her one. Thats always a plus.
Hows your hand? Jason asks.
It actually stings a little. Elizabeth admits shaking her hand.
Thanks again. Jason says rising, Now it's time for Act III.
Johnny groans and follows Jason out of Kelly's.
PC Grille
Just as Jason had made his debut that day so did Robin. She and Brenda were enjoying a leisurely lunch when Sonny comes in. Just as expected. He spots them immediately and makes his way over to the table. Brenda. He nods. Robin. Nice to see you again sweetheart.
Robin looks at him strangely. Sonny. She finally says in a polite tone.
Sonny frowns and turns to Brenda, How are you doing?
We're fine. Brenda says. Turning to Robin, We can leave if you want.
No. Robin says shaking her head she looks at Sonny again briefly, I'm okay. He can't hurt me anymore.
Hurt you? Sonny says, How?
By turning your back on me and the promise you made to Stone. By choosing Jason over me. Robin says. You weren't there when I needed you the most. She says sadly, But I'm glad that I at least had one real friend. She looks up at him and her usually warm brown eyes are anything but, Brenda.
I'm sorry that you think that I hurt you but I did what I thought was best.
You always do Sonny.
Just then the maitre'd comes over. Mr. Morgan has arrived sir.
I'll be right there. Sonny says dismissively.
We don't want to keep you from business. Brenda says. And do me a favor, tell your lackey to stay away from Robin.
We wouldn't want him to accidentally see my face or anything. Robin says looking over towards Jason.
Their eyes lock and they see each other again for the first-time, in public. She sees his fight to keep his eyes neutral. Cold, hard, and unaffected.
On second thought, Robin says standing, Let's go somewhere else.
I'll make sure Jason doesn't bother you. Sonny assures her.
I'm not leaving cause of Jason. Robin says, Not this time. She pauses, See I always knew I could lose Jason. I never thought that I could lose you. I'm leaving cause I'm supposed to avoid stress and I can't do that with you around. She looks at him sadly, I'm sorry Sonny. I can't do this right now. Go back to the good little Robin role and open my arms and say that's everything going to be okay. She looks down and then back up again, Especially when it's not.
And with that Robin and Brenda leave and Sonny goes to his table where Jason is waiting.
Problems? Jason asks.
No.
What did Robin want?
To let me know that I hurt her. For you to stay away from her.
Thats not a problem. Jason says, Oh and I wanted to thank you. He says.
For what? Sonny frowns.
For taking Carly off my hands, for telling her about Elizabeth and I. At Sonny's puzzled and worried look, Jason had to swallow his grin, I ran into her at Kelly's and she told me what you said. I don't know how you knew about Elizabeth and me. I didn't even realize it until she was taking care of me.
It was obvious Jason. Sonny says with a forced laugh, The rides. Jakes. Always showing up at Kelly's or the docks. He says, It was obvious to anyone with eyes.
Jason shrugs and keeps his expression neutral. Maybe.
Let's get down to business. Sonny says. Were going to have to sweep the organization. He begins
The Bridge
"I haven't been back here since that night." Robin says.
"I've only come back once." Jason sighs sitting down on the ledge. "It was different."
"How are you feeling?" Robin asks.
"Lousy." Jason says.
"Are you hurting?" Robin says.
"Yeah." he says softly, looking away from her eyes. "I should go." he sighs, "I'm supposed to stay away from you."
"Jason." Robin sighs.
"I know Robin." he finally looks into her eyes, "I know why you said it. But maybe it's for the best. I've never brought you anything but trouble and heartache and pain."
"And love." she says getting down from the ledge, she stands in front of him. "I know what you're doing Jason Morgan and it's not going to work." she places a hand on his arm. "I want us to be together. To try again."
"You'll have to be the other woman, it'll be a lot of sneaking around." he sighs standing up. He takes a strand of her hair behind her ear, "You're too good for that."
"This time it's different." she says touching his cheek lightly with her palm.
Jason sighs and leans into it.
"This time we know what's going on."
Jason nods, "I don't want to hurt you Robin."
"You won't." she whispers leaning up. She kisses him gently. "All we're going to do is try. Take things one day at a time." she looks into his eyes, "Can you handle that?"
He nods. "Friends first." he whispers, "Lovers second."
Robin smiles and rests her head against his chest, "It's going to workout. We'll stop Carly. Help Sonny."
"And see where this goes." Jason nods, "This isn't going to be easy." he reminds her.
"Nothing with us ever is." Robin replies.
Harborview Towers - Outside Jason's PH
"He's not here Ms. Benson." Johnny's voice is even, cool as he eyes the blonde.
"Where is he Johnny?" Carly asks kicking the door before turning around.
Johnny bit back a grin as he watches her shake her foot in pain. "You know I can't tell you that Ms. Benson."
"What's with all the 'Ms. Benson" stuff Johnny? I thought we were past that." she moves closer to him.
Johnny steps back. "We have Ms. Benson." Johnny replies, trying not to push her off of him as she touches his chest gently. He hears the elevator ding and cringes when he hears Brenda's voice.
"Johnny?" she calls, stopping suddenly when she sees Carly pressed up against her man. "What in the hell is going on?"
"Baby, you have to calm down. It's not what it looks like." Johnny says quickly stepping further away from Carly.
"Oh I know Johnny. See I trust you but I just don't trust this viper, who will draw back a nub if she doesn't move away from you in exactly 3 seconds."
"Like I'm scared of you." Carly taunts.
"3," Brenda says stepping closer, "2," she says stepping even closer, "1." she is about to lunge at Carly, when she is grabbed from behind. Turning her head, she glares at Sonny. "Let me go Corinthos before I make you lose something precious." She tilts her gaze down, eyeing his private region.
Sonny nods, releasing her but not keeping a hand on her shoulder, "You have to think about your baby Brenda." he says softly.
Brenda closes her eyes and says, "That witch better be gone by time I open my eyes Jonathan."
Johnny grabs Carly around the waist, presses the elevator button and shoves her inside once the doors open. "She's gone." he says coming up behind her and wrapping his arms around her. He kisses her neck lightly, "You know I love you right."
"Yeah." she smiles turning around, her eyes shining, "Can you take a break?"
"No." he kisses her softly. "But I can leave. I get off in half an hour."
Sonny's PH - A few hours later
Robin uses the key she still has and let's herself in. As she expected, from her conversation with Brenda and Johnny, she found Sonny sitting in the dark, holding a glass of Scotch. "Sonny?" she calls him softly, going to sit next to him.
His expression changes briefly but otherwise he says nothing.
"I heard what happened today Sonny. You can't keep doing this to yourself. One of these days, you're not going to have anybody around to pull you back."
"Maybe I want to stay here, in this place." his voice is deep and thick.
"Don't say that Sonny. Lily wouldn't want you doing this to yourself and neither do I."
"Why do you care? I turned my back on you."
"Sonny," she sighs, "Family fights but family also forgives each other."
"So you've forgiven me?"
"No." she says moving so she is sitting on the table in front of him, "Not like this, not out of pity and not before you work for it. I intend on making sure you keep that promise you made to Stone and Lily. You have to go on."
He nods and puts the glass of Scotch down.
"Thank you." she gets up and starts to leave.
"Robin." he calls as she opens the door.
"Yes?" she says turning around.
"I'm sorry."
"I know Sonny. You have the tools to make it better, you just have to want it. You have to try. Get over it and yourself and try. There are people who love and care about you and who would do anything to help you. Now you have to help yourself." she pauses, "I love you Sonny. But I'm sorry isn't enough." pauses again, "But it's a start." closes the door.
Robin looks up surprised as Jason steps off the elevator just as she is about to go in.
Stepping aside, she let's him pass and the doors close.
"Sorry." he says pressing the button for her.
Robin glances at Sonny's door, "We have to talk."
With a nod, Jason goes over to his door and opens it, waiting for her to enter before he closes the door and locks it.
