A Thankful Heart-Ch 2
Penelope said, "w w what did you say?", he looked around the room and said, "I was going to talk to you about this tomorrow but tonight is a good time to do this", she said, "do this, as innnnnn?", he said, "as in, asking you to be my girlfriend", her four brothers along with Shelly and Sandy stood looking between Derek and Penelope as they waited on an answer.
Derek said, "sooooooooo, what djo ya say goddess, will you be my girlfriend?", she said, "Derek I don't know about this, are you sure that I'm who, what you want?", he pulled her into his arms and said, "I have always wanted you but our timing was off but now, now I'm not waiting any longer".
She smiled and said, "well in that case, yes hotstuff, yes I'll be your girlfriend", he pulled her closer and leaned down and claimed her lips with his in their first kiss, they pulled apart when her brothers and two sisters-in-law started saying, "congratulations".
Penelope said, "what are we going to do about tomorrow?", Derek said, "you mean today?", she said, "yeah, yeah, today, today?", he laughed and said, "wellllllll they can all come to dinner at momma's with us", Penelope shook her head and said, "I can't put Fran out like that, not with 6 extra people".
Derek laughed and said, "uhhhh, you have met my momma right, you know that she cooks enough to feed an army with every meal and besides this will give the others a chance to get to know your brothers and their wives", she looked at her brothers and said, "well?", they all looked at each other and then at her and Payton said, "we'd love to join you for dinner".
Penelope said, "wait, where are you staying?", Parker said, "we all bought houses in the neighborhood, we're all neighbors", Derek said, "ohhhh so you bought the houses that were open up the street?" to which Parker said, "sure did, we are now the proud owners of those beautiful houses".
Derek said, "I live about 15 minutes away from here on Benton Avenue", Payton said, "ohhhh that place is beautiful", Derek said, "thanks man, I appreciate that I did most of the work myself", the brothers all looked at him in disbelief and he said, "I have several properties that i work on when we're on down time".
Penelope looked at the clock hanging on the wall and saw that it was almost 2 and said, "okay boys you can talk about that later, right now we need to get some sleep, because we will be heading over to Fran and Dave's in about 6 or 7 hours to help with getting everything together".
Derek grabbed a piece of paper and wrote down the address to his mom's place and said, "we'll see you there around noon, does that sound okay?", the all nodded their heads yes and Payton said, "how are you getting there P?", Penelope opened her mouth to speak when Derek said, "I'll be here in a few hours to pick her up, we're riding over together".
The brothers smiled at the couple, they then hugged their sister and said their goodnights to them before making their way back out of the apartment so that Derek and Penelope could say their goodnights.
When her brothers were gone she looked up at Derek and said, "is this a dream, am I dreaming?", he pulled her into his arms and kissed her lips gently and when they pulled apart he said, "did that seem like a dream?", she said, "that felt amazing", he kissed her again and said, "I totally agree butttttttttt if I don't go now I won't be able to".
She said, "I want you to stay butttttt we need time", he said, "it's okay sweetness, we're together now and that's what matters to me, I love you and you're not getting rid of me, not now, not ever" as she walked him to the door.
He turned around and said, "good night baby girl", she said, "good night handsome", he leaned down and got one final kiss for the night before stepping out into the hall, waving and disappearing out of sight, when he was gone she shut and locked the door and then slid down in the floor.
She pinched herself and said, "nope, that definitely wasn't a dream", she jumped up and turned off the lights and hopped back into bed, the last couple of hours had been amazing, she'd made up with her brothers, they were living in town to be close to her and to top that she was now dating her best friend, the one and only Derek Morgan".
She yawned and said, "does it get any better than that?", she closed her eyes and soon drifted off to sleep with a smile on her face.
