Sinful Love
"Whenever you're ready, Mika..."
Mikaela Hyakuya was jolted back to reality by his orphanage brother, Yuichiro's, voice, echoing across the sandy shore a few yards away. The two adopted brothers stood facing each other under the night sky, a serene beach not far from the village that had become their temporary home. It was late, with the villagers and the rest of Shinoa's Squad already tucked away in their beds, but Yuu and Mika were not quite ready to succumb to slumber. They had informed their friends that they would continue their training, sparring on the beach to hone their sword-fighting skills, preparing for the inevitable confrontation with their enemies that loomed just beyond the horizon. That day could come at any moment.
The moon was a luminous orb tonight, casting a silvery glow over the landscape, while the stars twinkled like diamonds scattered across black velvet. The rhythmic crashing of the waves against the shore provided a soothing backdrop, setting the mood for their duel. Mika grinned, fueled by adrenaline, and charged forward, his blade clashing with Yuu's in a collision that would have sent an ordinary person sprawling. Yet, Yuichiro, with his dark hair and enhanced demonic strength, stood firm, a confident smirk playing on his lips as he prepared to counterattack, his green eyes alight with fierce determination.
As Shinoa had stated and Mikaela had suspected, Yuichiro was indeed an exceptional swordsman. Even the vampires he had fought in the past and Guren's Squad members acknowledged his prowess. Despite the resentment Mika held toward Guren, he had to concede that the older man had trained Yuu well, allowing Mika to engage his brother without the need to hold back.
Even with his own vampire strength, Mika found himself staggering under the sheer force of Yuu's onslaught—an intensity that would have been impossible for an ordinary human to withstand. But Mika knew better; his brother was anything but ordinary. The demon and seraph within Yuichiro transformed him into a powerhouse capable of rivaling even the most formidable vampire progenitors, especially as the two of them continued to grow stronger.
This realization weighed heavily on Mika's mind, a double-edged sword in their precarious situation. If Yuu's strength continued to increase, it could potentially turn the tide in the human-vampire war, bringing an end to the conflict. Yet, there was also the terrifying possibility that, if left unchecked, that very power could lead to destruction on an unimaginable scale. The uncertainty of the future gnawed at Mika, but he refused to succumb to despair. He was resolute in his determination to support his brother in every way possible.
Mika understood that while Yuu's raw power was impressive, it also came with a critical weakness: his tendency to let his emotions dictate his actions rather than relying on strategic thinking. All Mika had to do was remain on the defensive, biding his time until Yuu's relentless barrage offered him an opening. As expected, Yuu's frustration began to mount, and Mika seized the opportunity when his brother swung his blade in a wide arc, leaving himself vulnerable. With precision, Mika countered, aiming for the base of Yuu's sword. In an instant, Asuramaru was sent flying from Yuu's grip, the weapon burying itself halfway into the sand several yards away.
With Yuu now disarmed, Mika took a moment to catch his breath, positioning the tip of his own blade at the base of his brother's chin, a triumphant smile lighting up his face.
"You did well, Yuu-chan, but there's still room for improvement," he declared, his voice laced with playful pride.
Yuu's expression transformed into a grin, his youthful exuberance shining through. "Thanks, but just so you know, I'm not a child anymore. You can drop the 'chan'—it's just Yuu now."
Mika chuckled softly but said nothing further, extending a hand to help his brother back to his feet. Without hesitation, Yuu accepted the gesture, and as Mika pulled him upright, he felt a sudden sway as his brother momentarily staggered.
"Hey, Mika, are you okay?" Yuu asked, concern knitting his brow.
Mika placed a hand over his chest, inhaling deeply to steady himself before replying.
"Yes, Yuu-chan, I'm fine. Just a little winded." Despite his attempt to sound reassuring, Yuu was not easily convinced.
"Don't lie to me, Mika. You're thirsty, aren't you? Let's get inside and get you fed while everyone else is still asleep."
Mika hesitated, wanting to protest, but deep down, he knew Yuu was right. His brother could be just as stubborn as he was when it came to looking out for those he cared about. As Yuu picked up Asuramaru and slid it back into its sheath, the two made their way back to the house.
Aware that the others were probably asleep, Yuu and Mika carefully opened the front door and slipped into the house as quietly as possible, taking off their shoes at the entrance to avoid making noise that could disturb their friends. This time, Mika insisted on using Yuu's room rather than his own to spare himself the trouble of having to carry Yuu if he was too exhausted to make it to his own room after feeding Mika. The last thing they wanted was for Yuu to trip, fall, or collapse in the hallway, which would undoubtedly wake everyone up.
Once inside, Yuu secured the door, locking it behind them, before placing his sheathed sword on the dresser. As was customary, he removed his shirt, a simple act that belied the complexities of their situation. Despite his best efforts to avoid leaving bloodstains that could reveal the truth about his donations to Mika, Yuu was acutely aware that he was growing weaker, struggling against the anemia that threatened to undermine him. Though he attributed his occasional clumsiness to simple missteps, the truth was harder to ignore.
Mika hated the deception, but Yuu insisted it was acceptable as long as no harm came from it. Everyone deserved to keep a few secrets, he believed.
"Would you prefer to lay down or sit up tonight, Mika?" Yuu asked, tilting his head in curiosity.
Mika pondered the question for a moment, then replied, "Lay down, but let me support you this time."
"I don't understand," Yuu said, brows furrowing in confusion.
Rather than explain, Mika took Yuu's hand and guided him to the bed. Sitting down, Mika gestured for Yuu to join him.
"Here, sit on my lap," he instructed, a gentle authority in his voice.
Though a bit apprehensive, Yuu complied, positioning himself across Mika's lap like a child. He felt somewhat silly but trusted that his brother had a good reason for such an arrangement.
"Just relax; I've got you," Mika reassured softly, wrapping one arm around Yuu's shoulders while his other hand supported the small of his back.
It didn't take long for Yuu to realize what Mika was plotting. Without a moment's hesitation, he tilted his head back, exposing his throat to Mika—an offering that no rational person would dare make to a vampire they did not trust completely. Up until now, Mika had only drawn blood from the sides of Yuu's neck and his wrists, but this was different. This was the first time the blond vampire suggested sinking his fangs into the base of his throat. A flood of curiosity washed over Yuu, but instead of questioning Mika, he chose to indulge him tonight as a testament to his unwavering trust. Truthfully, Yuu relished the feeling of being held like this, especially with the comforting intimacy of being alone together in the room.
As he closed his eyes, Yuichiro allowed himself to relax, breathing softly. He felt a thrill of anticipation as Mikaela opened his mouth, revealing his sharp fangs before sinking them into Yuu's throat. A gasp escaped Yuu's lips, unable to contain the moans that followed. Waves of pleasure coursed through his body, making the sensation far more intense than any previous moments when Mika had fed from his wrist or neck. Caught in the rapture of it all, Yuu instinctively wrapped one arm around Mika's waist while the other found its way up Mika's back, fingers tangling in the silky strands of the vampire's golden hair.
If he could, Mika would have grinned wickedly at the sight of Yuu lost in ecstasy, enjoying the exchange just as much as he was. Krul had once shared with him that the blood of awakened seraphs, especially the untouched ones, was a delicacy beyond compare for vampires, and her words rang true. With that knowledge, Mika was confident that no vampire on Earth would be able to resist the allure of Yuu's blood. But he would never allow anyone else to taste it; Yuu's blood was his and his alone.
After satisfying his thirst, Mikaela withdrew his fangs from Yuu's throat, taking a moment to observe the mixed expressions on his brother's face. Yuu looked almost forlorn, as if the experience had ended too soon, even though Mika knew that any longer would have caused Yuu to faint. He had fed from him often enough to recognize when it was time to stop without needing the usual signal of a tap on the shoulder.
When Yuu's gaze met Mika's, he found himself captivated by the desire shimmering in the blond's ruby-red eyes. A rush of heat coursed through him as he noticed the blood trickling down Mika's chin and mouth. Most people might consider him deranged for feeling this way, but Yuu couldn't help it; it wasn't merely the act of willingly offering his blood that excited him; it was also the identity of the one who was tasting it. Both Yuichiro and Mikaela had come to terms with their bisexuality from a young age, carefully concealing their feelings to escape mockery and disdain.
In addition to their complicated emotions for each other, they also shared a mutual crush on their sister from the orphanage, Akane. Although Yuu held affection for both Shinoa and Mitsuba, he couldn't deny the deep-seated attraction he felt for Mikaela, a sentiment that was reciprocated.
"How do you like it, Yuu-chan? Does it feel nice?" Mika teased, slowly licking the remnants of blood from his lips, then leaning down to lick the bite marks on Yuu's throat, knowing full well it would heighten his brother's excitement.
Yuu's cheeks flushed crimson, too shy to respond verbally, but they both understood the truth of it. Instead, he attempted to shift the conversation, reaching up to gently caress Mika's face, reminiscent of the first time they shared this intimate experience in Nagoya.
"Mika… why do you hide your real eyes? Do you despise them that much?" he inquired, his curiosity evident.
A slight frown crossed Mika's face. He understood Yuu was referring to the blue contacts he wore to conceal his ruby red eyes. Just because Mika had fully embraced his vampire nature didn't mean he wanted reminders of it lingering in the air. Yuu had noticed the lengths Mika went to in order to find contacts that closely resembled his original eye color, as well as his efforts to file down his vampire talons to appear more human.
"I… I don't hate them," Mika replied, his voice softening. "I just want you to see me the way you always have. I don't want you to think any differently of me now that I'm a complete vampire."
Yuu offered a reassuring smile, brushing his thumb gently over Mika's lips.
"Mika, I will never see you any differently. If wearing contacts makes you feel better, I understand, but know that your eyes will always be beautiful to me, no matter their color, okay?"
Mika's expression softened, a hint of a smile breaking through as he leaned closer, whispering into Yuu's ear, "You know how I feel about you, right?"
"How we both feel… yes," Yuu replied, his heart racing.
That was all the consent Mika needed. He pressed his lips to Yuu's, savoring the sweet moment before deepening the kiss, his tongue sliding into Yuu's mouth, igniting a fire within him. Yuu gasped at the suddenness of it but quickly surrendered to Mika's touch, parting his lips to grant him more access.
Despite having survived countless horrors on the battlefield, Yuichiro remained blissfully innocent when it came to matters of intimacy. And Mikaela cherished that innocence. He knew that this kiss was not what brothers were supposed to share, blood or adopted. It was more than just a simple peck; it was a passionate embrace that spoke of deep longing.
Yet, as Mika deepened the kiss, sucking on Yuu's bottom lip, Yuu found himself lost in the moment, a moan escaping his throat as he melted against Mika. His eyes fluttered closed again, breaths coming in quickening gasps as their tongues danced together, filling him with a bliss he had never known.
As Mika pressed him back against the surface, he felt the weight of the world dissipate, their bodies entwined in a cocoon of warmth and desire. They both understood the taboo nature of their actions; some might even label it incestuous, but neither felt guilt for their feelings. They were brothers in name only, connected by shared experiences rather than blood.
Yuu recognized that he should feel shame for harboring such forbidden desires for his best friend and adopted brother, yet he didn't. Neither did Mikaela. After all, nothing done in the name of love could possibly be wrong, could it?
Caught up in the moment, Yuu's hands began to wander beneath Mika's shirt, fingertips grazing the toned muscles of his brother's abdomen and chest, prompting a low groan from the blond. Just as he felt temptation pulling him further, Mika finally halted his movements, gripping Yuu's wrists to stop him.
"Mika? What's wrong?" Yuu asked, a hint of confusion in his voice.
"Yuu-chan, I think we should stop for now," Mika replied, a seriousness in his tone.
"But why?" Yuu pressed, his heart racing with anticipation.
"Because if we keep going, I don't think I'll be able to hold back. I don't want to end up hurting you…"
"Is that truly the only reason?
Mika hesitated, his heart heavy with the weight of unspoken fears. It was no secret that a love between a human and a vampire was deemed forbidden in their world, a dangerous liaison fraught with peril. Yet, that wasn't the only reason for his trepidation. After having betrayed the vampires for Yuu, the prospect of returning to them was utterly out of the question. But beyond that betrayal lay a deeper, more personal struggle; love was a foreign concept to him since he had been turned.
In the four long years that he and Yuu had been separated, Mika had known only the cold company of other vampires. Among them, the only one who had ever shown him genuine kindness was Krul Tepes, his vampire mother. It was ironic, he thought, that the very being who had transformed him against his will had also been the only one to care for him in any meaningful way. She had saved him from Ferid's clutches that day, and he couldn't help but acknowledge that, despite everything, she had done him a favor. Had he succumbed to terrible injuries inflicted upon him by Ferid, he would never have had the chance to find Yuu again.
As for Ferid, Mika had come to understand that in his own twisted way, the silver-haired vampire lord had a semblance of affection for him. Ferid had tolerated Mika's rudeness, and even constant threats to end his life, despite knowing he could easily overpower him. Such a dynamic was convoluted, but it was indicative of the tangled web of relationships that surrounded Mika.
However, possessing the favor of Krul and Ferid did little to ease Mika's life in Sanguinem. The other vampires, particularly Lacus and René, regarded him with venomous jealousy. They would sneer and call him the "Queen's pet," or at best, her adopted son, never granting him the respect and honor of referring to him as "Prince." Yet, in the face of their disdain, Mika remained unfazed; his heart was set on one thing alone—finding and protecting his dear friend, Yuichiro.
Even though his love for Yuu burned fiercely within him, Mika often felt an overwhelming sense of insecurity. He couldn't shake the feeling that someone as innocent and pure as Yuu could never reciprocate his feelings. To Mika, his love felt sinful and impure, unworthy of the boy who held his heart.
"Yuu-chan, I…"
"What are you truly afraid of?" Yuu pressed gently. "I love you, Mika, no matter what you've become."
Those words hung in the air, a lifeline thrown into the depths of Mika's uncertainty. Now that the truth was laid bare, Mika could no longer deny the feelings swirling within him. When Mika failed to respond immediately, Yuu's expression shifted, a mixture of curiosity and sadness creeping into his features.
"Could it be that you really don't want me?"
Mika shook his head vehemently. "No! I do want you, Yuu-chan, but… I'm afraid. I want this to last forever, but how can it? You and the others will eventually grow up and leave me behind."
Yuu's eyebrows knitted together in understanding as he processed Mika's words.
"Mika… I truly believe that a way to turn you back exists somewhere. I promised I would help you find it, didn't I?"
"I know… and I believe it too! But how long will it take? What if we can't find it? I can't bear the thought of watching you grow old while I remain like this forever! I can't stand the idea of being left alone again; you're everything I have to live for now!"
As the confession tore from his lips, tears spilled down Mika's cheeks, his voice trembling with emotion.
Yuu's mouth parted in surprise before closing tightly. He inhaled sharply, stilling his breath, grappling with the depths of Mika's vulnerability.
"Mika, I…"
Yuichiro had never realized just how profoundly Mikaela's feelings ran. This revelation was a weighty truth; the vampire's fear was rooted in the possibility of loneliness, of losing the one person who meant everything to him. After a moment of contemplation, Yuu gently cupped Mika's face, brushing away the tears with his thumb.
"Mika… I had no idea you felt this way. I understand now. I've tried to avoid thinking about it, but we can't keep ignoring this issue. You're right; we don't know how long it will take to find a cure. Therefore, there's only one other option…"
"And that is?" Mika felt an inkling of what Yuu might say, but he needed to hear it from him.
Pulling Mika down to meet his lips, Yuu whispered, "Mika… I feel the same way… so I want you to share your eternity with me…"
Though Yuu didn't spell it out, the implication was unmistakable, and Mika found himself staring in astonishment at the boy he loved.
"Yuu-chan… do you have even the slightest inkling of what you're asking? Do you understand the nature of the being you will become? The very thing you despise most in this world?"
"I do… and I mean it, Mika. I know you're too selfless to admit it, but you want me to join you so you won't have to face eternity alone. I want to be with you until we find a cure, and even after that, I'll stay by your side. If no cure is found, then so be it; we'll embrace eternity together."
Mika paused for a moment, reflecting on Yuu's words. While the other boy might seem innocent and somewhat naive at times, he was far from foolish and would never make such a request lightly. Yuichiro understood that by becoming a vampire himself, he could remain by Mikaela's side for as long as it took to restore his humanity.
However, this choice would mean abandoning Shinoa and the others to the relentless passage of time, a reality he was aware of and accepted. His greatest fear wasn't death itself, but the thought of leaving Mikaela to confront eternity alone, without fulfilling the promise he had made to turn him human again. Deep down, Yuichiro knew Mikaela felt the same way, even if he was reluctant to admit it.
Contrary to Mika's beliefs, Yuu was fully aware of what he was asking for and was sincere in his request. Although the idea of outliving his friends pained him, he felt it was necessary. Yuu recognized that by compelling Mika to drink his blood the first time, he had sentenced his brother and best friend to an eternal, ageless existence, perpetually craving blood. Thus, it seemed only fair that he should share in that same fate.
While Mika never wished this for Yuu, he had promised Shinoa that he would discuss it with him, especially considering the threat posed by Yuu's demon. This added another layer of reasoning behind the potential for turning him. However, Mika was in no hurry to proceed. He wanted to take his time, ensuring that Yuu was completely certain of his choice, as there was currently no known method to revert a vampire back to being human.
With a tender smile, Mika leaned down and kissed Yuu's forehead softly. "I love you, Yuu-chan… I'd do anything for you, anything to ensure your happiness. But you must be sure this is what you truly desire. Once it's done, there's no turning back. Please, take a little more time to think about it, okay?"
Yuichiro's expression flickered with a hint of disappointment at Mikaela's response, but deep down, he knew he had to agree with him. The choice to become a vampire was monumental, a transformation that could not be taken lightly. As far as he was aware, no human had ever willingly chosen to embrace that dark fate. It was a life-altering decision, one that came with irrevocable consequences.
With a resigned nod, he met Mika's gaze and replied, "I understand, Mika. I will."
Mikaela felt a wave of relief wash over him, grateful that Yuichiro wasn't going to press the matter any further tonight. Ironically, he found himself silently thanking the heavens that his brother, who was often so stubborn about everything else, had chosen to let this particular issue rest for now.
"Good," Mika said, his voice steady and reassuring. "I must go now. Sleep well, Yuu-chan."
"Can I have one more kiss, please, Mika?" Yuichiro asked, his tone soft and pleading.
Mikaela couldn't help but chuckle at the sweetness in Yuichiro's voice. There was something undeniably cute about the way he asked, a tenderness that tugged at Mika's heart. In that moment, he realized that it was a small request he could easily grant, a simple pleasure amidst the weight of their conversation.
"Of course, Yuu-chan," Mika replied, his voice warm and affectionate. "Anything for you…"
As he leaned in, their lips met softly, a gentle reminder of the bond they shared. In that fleeting moment, the worries of the world faded away, leaving just the two of them in a quiet sanctuary of understanding and love.
A/N: Ok, I'm going to end this here. Although I a bigger fan of straight couples, I've decided to indulge yaoi fans with this snippit. This is the first time I ever wrote a story for a same-sex couple so please go easy on me! On a note, its never really been made clear in the OnS manga/anime if Yuu and Mika are straight or not but I notice that Mika does appear to obsess over Yuu like a lover so I'm guessing his feelings for him might lean in that direction.
