As Ash, his Pokémon, and Echo Six cautiously made their way through the desolate streets of Raccoon City, Ash couldn't hold back his curiosity any longer. He turned to Dee-Ay, Echo Six's team leader, and asked, "Who exactly are you guys? And what happened to this place? What happened to all the people here?"
Dee-Ay glanced at Ash, then at his team. He exhaled deeply, realizing it was going to be a lot for the boy to take in. "We're Echo Six, a special operations unit sent by the U.S. government. We were deployed here to contain the situation and rescue any survivors. Raccoon City…it got hit by something called the T-Virus, a biological weapon created by the Umbrella Corporation. The virus spread like wildfire, infecting people and turning them into the walking dead."
Ash and his Pokémon stood speechless, their eyes wide with disbelief. Lucario and Pikachu exchanged worried glances, while Ash struggled to comprehend what Dee-Ay had just explained. "So…everyone here, they're…?"
Dee-Ay nodded solemnly. "Yeah, most of them didn't make it. The ones who got infected…well, you've seen them already. The rest either escaped the city or are hiding somewhere. But the government's planning to wipe this place off the map soon, so time's running out."
Ash clenched his fists, his heart sinking at the thought of what had happened to the people of Raccoon City. He had seen many strange and dangerous things in his adventures, but this…this was something far darker than anything he had encountered before.
Tweed chimed in, cutting through the somber mood. "So, what about you, kid? And those…things with you? What exactly are you and those weird creatures?"
Ash hesitated, but then explained, "These are Pokémon. They're my friends and partners. I'm a Pokémon Trainer. We travel together, battle together, and—"
"Pokémon?" Tweed interrupted, raising an eyebrow in disbelief. "You expect us to believe that these…these bio-weapon-looking creatures are your pets?"
Harley crossed his arms, also skeptical. "Sounds like something out of a kids' cartoon. You really expect us to buy that?"
Shona was more fascinated. He scribbled notes furiously in his notebook, muttering to himself about how they had stumbled upon something truly extraordinary. "Pokémon…fascinating. This kind of discovery could change everything. Creatures with abilities like that, not created by Umbrella, and immune to the virus…"
Willow smirked and added with half-amused skepticism, "Yeah, sure. A bunch of magical creatures saving the day. Sounds like something straight out of a Saturday morning show. You sure you're not just pulling our leg, kid?"
Ash stood his ground, his voice firm. "It's the truth! Pokémon are real. We came here by accident, but we're trying to survive, just like you."
Dee-Ay raised his hand to cut the conversation short. "Alright, enough. We don't have time to debate what's real or not. Whatever they are, those creatures are helping us survive, and that's all that matters for now. Let's save the discussions for later—out in the open isn't the place to be sharing important intel. We don't know who might be listening."
Ash looked around, noticing nothing immediately suspicious, but Dee-Ay's words made him uneasy.
Harley smirked and teased his team leader, "There you go again, Dee-Ay, being all paranoid. Gotta relax sometimes. Not every shadow is out to get us."
Dee-Ay rolled his eyes at Harley's comment but remained focused. "This is Raccoon City, Harley. Better to be paranoid than dead."
As the group ventured deeper into the city, they stumbled upon a row of abandoned stores. The broken windows and overturned shelves suggested that whatever had happened here had long since left the area in chaos. Dee-Ay assessed the surroundings, considering the possibility that supplies or even survivors might be hiding in the buildings.
"We should split up into pairs," Dee-Ay suggested, scanning the buildings for potential entry points. "It'll be quicker, and we'll cover more ground. Tweed and I will take the left. Willow, Harley—you cover the right," he said, directing the team.
Party Girl immediately chimed in with a mischievous grin, "I'll keep an eye on our new friend here," she volunteered, glancing over at Ash with a wink. "Shona can come with us too."
Tweed groaned in response. "Seriously, Party Girl? Why are you babying the kid? He doesn't need a babysitter," she muttered, rolling her eyes.
But Party Girl was quick with a retort, her voice dripping with mock sweetness. "Aww, what's the matter, Tweed? Jealous? You wanna look after the cutie yourself?"
Tweed's glare intensified, and the tension between the two women flared as they exchanged pointed glares. Before things could escalate, Dee-Ay let out a long, exasperated sigh. "Knock it off, both of you. Start acting like professionals. Take a lesson from Willow and behave."
Willow, standing off to the side with her rifle slung over her shoulder, raised an eyebrow at being called out. She gave a smirk and said, "Oh, I'm too old for the kid. But Tweed and Party Girl here? Better give him some space, or else I'll have to step in and protect him from you."
Ash blinked, looking from one soldier to the next, completely bewildered by the conversation. "Uh… what?" he mumbled, not entirely sure why the attention was suddenly on him. Lucario and Pikachu, sensing the awkwardness of the situation, simultaneously facepalmed.
Harley, seeing Ash's confusion, couldn't help but laugh. He clapped Ash hard on the back, nearly knocking the boy off balance. "You're a real ladies' man, Ash. No need to play innocent. You're starting to grow on me."
Still confused, Ash blinked rapidly, unsure what Harley meant. "I don't know what you're talking about," Ash mumbled, scratching his head. He was used to wild adventures, but this kind of teasing was completely out of his element.
Lucario and Pikachu just sighed, knowing their Trainer was always a little slow on the uptake when it came to this kind of attention.
As Ash, his Pokémon, Party Girl, and Shona cautiously entered an abandoned store, the atmosphere was tense and eerily quiet. While Party Girl rummaged through the shelves in search of supplies, Ash noticed Shona sitting on a stack of boxes, scribbling away in his notebook. His curiosity piqued, Ash approached and asked what Shona was doing.
Shona chuckled, looking up from his work. He flipped the notebook around, revealing detailed drawings and notes about the T-Virus, the infected, and, most recently, sketches of Ash and his Pokémon. "Just some research," Shona explained. "I like to take notes on things that are… well, beyond what we understand. You, for example, are a fascinating case."
Ash blinked, tilting his head. "What do you mean?"
Shona pointed to a previous note about the healing that occurred after Ash was bitten. "You said earlier that your wounds healed on their own, right? No infection. I've been thinking… there must be something special about your blood that's preventing you from becoming one of the infected. It's the only explanation that makes sense."
Ash's eyes widened. "My blood?"
Nodding, Shona pulled out a small needle from his pack. "Yes, and if you'd be willing, I'd like to test that theory. Just a small sample of your blood should give me some answers."
The sight of the needle made Ash flinch, and he instinctively took a step back. "Uh… I don't know about that. Needles and I don't get along too well."
Shona smiled reassuringly. "It'll be quick, I promise. You won't even feel it if I do it right."
Before Ash could respond, Party Girl approached, frowning as she crossed her arms. "Hey, don't use him as your little test subject, Shona. He's been through enough already."
Shona waved off her concern. "It's not about that, Party Girl. If Ash really is immune, studying his blood could help us understand why—and that could lead to a cure or at least a better understanding of this virus."
Ash, still nervous but considering the bigger picture, hesitated for a moment. He looked to Party Girl, who sighed and gave him an encouraging nod. "It's up to you, kid."
Reluctantly, Ash held out his arm. "Okay… but make it quick."
Shona nodded, moving swiftly to draw a small sample of blood. Ash winced but kept still, and in moments, it was over. Shona immediately began examining the sample under a small portable light he had brought with him, his eyes narrowing as he observed the strange properties of Ash's blood. After a few minutes, Shona's expression shifted to one of amazement. "Incredible… Your blood—it's like nothing I've ever seen. There's this blue light, almost like it's glowing… And it seems to be actively suppressing the virus. It's not just that you're immune. Your body is fighting it off with… something I can't even begin to understand."
Party Girl, leaning in to get a better look, raised an eyebrow. "What's he mumbling about?"
Shona shook his head, pocketing the sample carefully. "I won't know for sure until I can analyze this back at a proper lab. But I can say with confidence that Ash's blood is unique—maybe even key to understanding the T-Virus better."
Ash rubbed his arm where the needle had been, looking between Shona and Party Girl with a mix of curiosity and concern. "Is that… a good thing?"
Shona offered a small smile. "It's more than good, Ash. It might just be the breakthrough we've been looking for."
Party Girl, still skeptical but slightly more relaxed, shook her head at Shona. "Let's just make sure that sample of yours doesn't fall into the wrong hands."
As Lucario and Pikachu's ears perked up, the atmosphere in the abandoned store shifted. The sudden clatter of a box falling from the shelf startled the group. They glanced around warily, finding nothing out of the ordinary. Party Girl approached the fallen box cautiously, her eyes narrowing as she inspected it.
"Strange," she muttered, nudging it slightly with her foot. "There's no reason for this to just fall over."
Shona pondered. "Maybe it was a small breeze?"
Party Girl shook her head. "There was no breeze when we came in. Something else knocked this over."
The group exchanged uneasy glances. Before they could consider other possibilities, Dee-Ay's voice crackled over the radio, calling them to regroup.
"Let's not waste time," Party Girl said, motioning for them to move. "Dee-Ay's waiting."
Ash, his Pokémon, and the rest of the group began filing out of the store, still on alert for anything unusual. However, as they left, they were unaware of a hidden observer. In the shadows of the store, VECTOR of the U.S.S. Delta Team deactivated his built-in camouflage, his blue glowing eyes fixating on the group. His masked face remained emotionless as he watched their retreating forms. With a quiet click, he radioed his team leader.
"Lupo, I found the kid and his freaks."
Lupo's voice came through the comms. "Good. Stay hidden. Wait for the right moment, when the kid is vulnerable. Then take him."
Vector smirked beneath his mask. "Understood. I'll wait for the signal."
With that, Vector reactivated his camouflage, disappearing once more into the shadows.
Ash and his party finally regrouped with Dee-Ay and the rest of Echo Six. Dee-Ay wasted no time asking, "Find anything?"
Party Girl shrugged and playfully rubbed her arm. "Nothing much, just a few false alarms. Though, Ash's arm is pretty sore right now."
Dee-Ay blinked, confused. "Ash's arm?"
Shona chuckled and jumped in with a sly grin. "Ah, it's my fault. I've been testing a theory, using Ash as—"
"Seriously?" Tweed groaned, cutting him off. "You're using Ash as a guinea pig? At the worst possible time? That's just dumb."
Shona opened his mouth to explain, but suddenly Ash froze, his eyes narrowing at the distance. He squinted, unsure if his mind was playing tricks on him, but there it was—a familiar sight. Jessie, James, and Meowth, sprinting and screaming comedically, were being chased by a horde of infected. Their frantic shouts echoed across the street.
"Is that—?" Ash muttered to himself, recognizing the trio. "Wait, is that Team Rocket?"
Tweed couldn't help but laugh. "Look at those two—who even has hair like that during a zombie apocalypse?"
Harley raised a brow. "And is that... a cat monster running on two legs? And talking or am I losing it?"
Dee-Ay ignored his teammates' banter, his tone sharp. "They could be survivors. We need to get them."
Before anyone could react, Ash's legs moved on their own. "Hold on!" he shouted, sprinting straight toward Team Rocket.
"Ash!" Party Girl screamed, her voice cracking as she reached out. "Come back!"
But Ash didn't stop. Pikachu and Lucario darted after him.
Tweed threw up her hands, grumbling under her breath. "That kid's nothing but trouble."
Party Girl shot a glare at her teammate, but Willow stepped forward calmly. "We should follow him. He might know something."
Dee-Ay nodded. "Move out! Let's go."
With that, the team charged after Ash, racing towards the chaos ahead.
Ash's heart pounded as his mind raced, piecing things together. If Team Rocket was in Raccoon City, then there was a good chance that Goh and Cinderace were somewhere in the city as well. The thought brought a surge of urgency to him. He needed to find Team Rocket and ask if they'd seen Goh, but when he reached the end of the alley, the familiar trio was nowhere to be found.
Breathing heavily, Ash came to a halt, leaning against a nearby wall. "Where did they go?" he muttered, glancing at Lucario and Pikachu. "We need to find them."
Lucario gave Ash a firm nod, understanding the gravity of the situation. It immediately knelt down and placed its palm on the cold pavement, closing its eyes to concentrate. Its aura sense spread out like invisible waves, seeking the life force of Jessie, James, and Meowth.
Pikachu, on the other hand, lowered its nose to the ground, sniffing for any trace of Meowth's scent. The electric-type Pokémon's nose twitched as it followed an invisible trail, trying to lock onto the distinct scent of their mischievous feline adversary.
Ash anxiously watched his two partners work, knowing that their skills were his best shot at finding Team Rocket and, hopefully, Goh. "I hope they're okay…" he whispered, the worry growing in his voice.
Moments passed as Lucario and Pikachu continued their search. Lucario's brow furrowed in concentration, its aura detection reaching out farther. Pikachu's nose led it a few feet forward, but it seemed to hesitate, unsure if the trail was strong enough.
Suddenly, Lucario's eyes snapped open, and it stood up. "Luca!" It pointed in the direction it sensed the trio's aura.
Ash's eyes widened with hope. "You found them?"
Pikachu, still sniffing, perked its ears and nodded in agreement. "Pika!"
"Alright! "Let's go!" he said, planting his foot forward and then...he froze as the cold barrel of a gun pressed against the back of his head, his heart skipping a beat. The once familiar and urgent sounds of Raccoon City's chaos faded, replaced by the deafening silence of the immediate danger. His breath caught in his throat as he heard a gruff male voice from behind.
"Don't take another step," the voice ordered in a calm yet firm tone.
It was Vector, the stealth operative of the U.S.S. Delta Team.
