Dividing territories
Humphreys POV:
I woke up on my mattress with Bella snuggled up to my side which I couldn't help but smile at. As much as I enjoyed the warmth of her body and how adorable she looked I knew I had to wake her up so we could start the day so I gently nudged her with my nose and said. "Bella time to get up sweetie!" She curled up into me a little more and said in a soft tired voice. "Just five more minutes' daddy." I chuckled at her sweet little behavior and said. "Okay princess but just five more minutes because we can't waste our entire day here in bed." She simply cuddled closer to me and mumbled something as she let out her gentle breaths.
I waited for five minutes and kept myself busy by simply watching over my little princess and going over a mental checklist of what I had to do today. My food storage was a little low so I had to go for a good hunt but first find someone to pup watch Bella for me which I'm pretty sure my parents would be more than happy to do and if they were too busy I'm pretty sure the guys could do it. I also had to have a talk with my parents and Winston about how things are going to be like what would the border between the territories would be and probably which of the two packs I'm going to be in since I can't be in both but I just want to be neutral since I can't turn my back on family and I don't want to go up against the pack that raised me. Although it's not like they'd declare war on each other since there's more than enough food for both packs to enjoy, more than enough territory for all of us and since my mom and Eve are friends my father and Winston won't declare war unless they want to face the anger of their wives.
As I was going over the things I had to do I felt movement against my side and watched as Bella rolled onto her side and let out the cutest little yawn. I smile at her cuteness before she looked up at me and said. "Good morning daddy." I leaned down and nuzzled her as I said. "Morning pumpkin." We both got up before I grabbed my hat and put it on making sure my ears came through the holes before I went and got us two rabbits for breakfast. As we enjoyed our breakfast Decca walked in with a smile on his face. I swallowed the piece of rabbit I had in my mouth and greeted him by saying. "Hey man what's up?" He smiled at me and said. "morning Humphrey your parents sent me to inform you they need to see you at a meeting as soon as possible." I nodded before saying. "Okay but I'm going to need some time to find a pup sitter for Bella." He smiled and said. "Don't worry about it man I'll look after her while you're away since your parents are waiting for you at their den." I nodded before I turned to Bella and said. "Okay sweetheart I'll be back in a bit but while I'm gone Mr. Decca will be looking after you alright sweetie?" She licked the blood around her lips and gave me a sweet smile before saying. "Alright daddy." I gave her a gentle nuzzle before I walked up to Decca and said. "Take good care of her man!" He in turn replied with. "Don't worry man I got this!" I looked him in the eyes and said. "Good because if I come back and find one hair on her precious little head harmed so help me I will gut you like a fish and toss your lifeless carcass into a pit at the junkyard." I heard him gulp as I walked past him and to the exit of my den to go and meet my parents.
When I arrived, they were both sitting outside of the den waiting for me and smiled as I approached them which was pretty fast since the packs females were making me feel very uncomfortable with their flirting and it was worse than the last time. They would blow me kisses, shoot me compliments as I walked by like 'hey there handsome' or 'how's it going big boy', some even walked up alongside me and rubbed their bodies up against mine before walking past me giving me a good smell of their heat. In other words, the walk through the territory was an absolute and complete nightmare for me and getting to my parents den was the one thing I was able to focus on to avoid those girls. Once I reached them my father gave me a sly smile and asked. "Have a nice walk here son?" My mother slapped him on the back of the head for that before she turned to me and said. "Hello sweetie we called you here because we'll be meeting with Winston and Eve to discuss territory boundaries and from what we've been told nobody knows this park better than you so we're going to need you to help sort out things like the best hunting spots, what will separate the two territories, where our two packs can meet on neutral terms for a good howl, etc. Do you understand this?" I nodded and said. "Yeah I got it mom and don't worry I know this park like the back of my paw." Both my parents smiled at me before they both stood up from their sitting positions as my father said. "Okay then we better get going then since they're probably waiting for us right now by that river where Decca found you." I nodded before we began our walk to the river but this time I stayed close to my parents in hopes of warding off the females of the pack.
It didn't take us long to reach the river where Winston, Eve, Toni, Garth, Lilly and Kate were waiting for us. I greeted them respectively bas did my parents before Winston said. "Alright we all know why we're all here correct?" My father replied. "To discuss the separation of our two territories, hunting grounds and to discuss a neutral area where our packs can come together to discuss things or just howl and have a good time." Winston smiled at him and said. "Correct!" Before he turned to me and said. "Humphrey being the wolf who has stayed in this park the longest we are counting on you to help us sort this out and divide the territories fairly." I nodded before my father asked me. "Do you think you could draw out the territories of the park Humphrey?" I replied with. "Yeah I can and it won't be too hard just give me a moment." I then began to draw out the territory in the dirt and put in light lines to show the mountains and deeper indents to show rivers and lakes. When I was done, I turned the leaders and said. "All done! The deep lines are the rivers and lakes while the shallower ones are the mountains." Toni then stepped forward and asked. "Do you think you could mark the hunting areas in the territory." I gave him a nod before I walked over to the different parts of the map and used my claw to mark and X over the best hunting areas and also circle the place where we were at the moment. The leaders went over the map before Winston asked. "So how should we separate the two territories Humphrey?" I smiled before pointing to a river on the map as I said. "This river runs right through the entire park and goes through smack dab in the middle so the space in the territories will be equal and there is the same amount of hunting grounds on either side with the same amount so there will be no need to go to war over food for a long time. As for the place where our two packs can get together I would recommend the junkyard since it has plenty of room for all the wolves in both packs, plenty of places to stand on for the moonlight howls and a great view of the moon when it's full. This sound good to you all?" The leaders huddled up to discuss things before separating as Winston said. "This all seems good Humphrey and it is agreed that this shall be the territories of our packs so good work Humphrey but which pack will you join with now that your old pack has returned?" I thanked him before saying. "With all due respect, to you all I'd like to just remain neutral because frankly I'd rather not chose a side between my family and the pack that raised me." They all nodded in understanding before we all separated as I went back home to see my daughter after a quick hunt where I was able to take down a caribou for dinner. I spent the rest of my day with my daughter playing and telling her stories.
