No-One But You (The Star Child's Eclipse)
Chapter 42: Daydreamer (Part 2)
…
Thanks to having a young woman named Donna Strange around all the time, the ruler of the Dark Dimension was behaving more like an "Earth girl" more and more everyday.
…
Clea Strange was actually sitting in front of something called a mirror, and that reflective contraption was connected to something else called a "vanity."
Donna called the version she had in her own home a "makeup table," but you get the idea.
Long story short, the "former" Sorceress Supreme had developed an interest in those Earth-bound items, called furniture, and she asked Stephen if she could have one in the Realm of Light.
Stephen couldn't deny his Dream Girl anything, so, yeah… there it was.
Clea had a number of things on her mind as she studied the way her body was behaving, and how it was adjusting to what was determined to be an impressive hex on her soul.
Her face still looked very pale, and it felt like she had ingested a thick poison.
…
Her unborn child was gone as well, but Clea didn't want to think about it.
She slowly swallowed down the way she felt in that present moment, then she started fixing one of the sleeves of something called a "dress."
They didn't have labels for such things in the Dark Dimension, and it amused her to learn things about Stephen's world off and on.
He was outside their bedroom, with Sofia and Donna.
The three of them had been discussing the information Victor Von Doom cared to share during some… meeting.
…
Clea could hear them talking, and she always felt the presence of a powerful entity named Agamotto around while she was in that room.
It took the ruler of the Dark a long time to get used to his energy, but now she welcomed his presence…
Stephen and Agamotto were collectively very upset, and plotting revenge, most likely…
Her husband had the sharpest eyes she'd ever seen, and the sharpest demeanor whenever the man was angry.
Clea saw that calm, yet formidable, anger present itself… just before she asked him if she could be alone.
Now… Sofia was sitting beside her father outside the room, on the steps.
She was giving her father a detailed account of what was said during the meeting, and Stephen thought it was the cutest thing ever…
…
"Mr. Doom told me that it was a very complicated question, and he also said he was unable to give me a proper answer."
…
The "former" Sorcerer Supreme gave his sister an amused looking smile, then his attention quickly returned to his beautiful daughter.
That little "Star Child" seemed hell-bent on knowing who was linking up with who out there in the cosmos, and Stephen had no intention of cutting into her interests.
His soul started focusing more behind him tho, after a moment slowly passed, because his wife said she wanted to be alone.
Stephen's heart was breaking enough as it was, so… hearing Clea say that just fucking hurt.
…
"He goes by the name Doctor Doom, Sofia. He's not a Mr…"
…
"But… Aunty Donna told me that he's not a real doctor, like you."
…
"No, he's not, but that's his title and you need to use the correct one."
…
"Oh. Okay."
…
Sofia's innocent voice sounded a little more than disappointed. She gave out a troubled sigh too, because she didn't want to call Victor Von Doom a "DOCTOR" at all.
It's not that she didn't like him.
Sofia found him to be an intriguing person, but she didn't want to call him by his chosen title because it felt like she was participating in some grand lie.
…
"Can't you simply talk to the woman known as the Scarlet Witch? She seemed very sad when I saw her, at Battleworld. Maybe she needs you to be her friend?"
…
Stephen listened to his daughter's gentle words, then his sharp eyes immediately went back in his sister's direction.
"Talking" to the Scarlet Witch was definitely on the agenda, but the sorcerer had no interest in entertaining any notion of being a friend.
Stephen didn't have time for friends, or bullshit…
…
"Your mother and I do plan to speak with her, once she feels better."
…
Hmm…
Clea heard Stephen's interesting choice of words for their daughter, because "speaking" to Wanda Maximoff was an outright lie.
Murdering her felt like a better plan, but Clea was forcing herself not to think in such a manner.
