Chapter 44: Daydreamer (Part 4)

A short while before Tony Stark had a brief conversation with a young man named Ezekiel Stane, that young man was leaving an office that was occupied by Victor Von Doom…

The man known as "Doom" was staring out the office window when he heard another bold declaration from his former student.
…
"…any ounce of respect I had for you is gone."
...
"I will boil you alive if you ever touch Wade Wilson again, so just know that as this day proceeds."

The ruler of Latveria listened to what Ezekiel Stane said to him, and his eyes followed after the somber "Jackal" as he headed back toward the office door.
Obadiah Stane's son was clearly leaving. He also looked angry, disheveled, and deeply hurt.
Doom knew the wounds he caused were going to affect Ezekiel for a long time, but the moment of silence he received after causing Wade Wilson's "death" was something that Victor Von Doom would never regret.

"Very well. So be it.."
…
He gave Ezekiel that response before he started looking out the window again, then Doom silently listened to the exchange that took place immediately after.
We all know Ezekiel "gave" Charles Xavier access to his mind again in that moment, and Doom listened to the two of them converse over the information in his mind that was going to be either "removed" or "further suppressed."
Doom rolled his eyes, if you recall, but his mind settled on something that he needed to communicate to Ezekiel Stane before he eventually left the room.
Just before Ezekiel's hand touched the door, Doom's voice quickly filled the space…
He said something that stopped someone's "quiet coyote" dead in his tracks. Ezekiel froze, and Charles Xavier witnessed the entire exchange.

"Regardless of your anger towards me… you're always welcome to seek asylum in Latveria, especially if your Surveillant Council votes to throw you back in prison."
…
That comment forced Ezekiel to stop and stare at his former mentor for a long time. It meant too fucking much, and overall… Ezekiel's anger towards Doom took over his soul.
So, the "baby" Jackal slammed the door behind him as he left, then he started hunting around for Tony Stark.
Ezekiel took off to face his fellow inventor, while Doom remained in the office with everyone's favorite psychic.
It was an interesting moment, being in there alone with Charles Xavier, and Doom gently wondered what the man would say first…

"Doom… you and I both know that you were referring to a platonic intimacy earlier, not a physical one…"
…
Why oh why did Victor Von Doom choose to dig the knife in even further? Charles Xavier could only wonder.
The ruler of Latveria didn't respond. He also didn't see much of a difference between the two levels of intimacy that Xavier described.
Though he'd never been physically intimate with Ezekiel Stane, one might argue that being emotionally involved was a sharper sword…
Doom didn't care to speak on the subject, but he did glance in Xavier's direction just for a moment before he left the room.
He needed to get the rest of that "Surveillant Council" business off his back, so Doom started making his way toward the deliberation room without uttering a word to anyone.
He only missed another encounter with Ezekiel by a couple seconds… and some might say Victor Von Doom was very out of sync with the rest of the world.
He sat down in the chair that was set up for him, by the window, and he quietly waited for Stark to resume his vague assertions.
