No-One But You (The Star Child's Eclipse)
Chapter 87: Doom (Part 7)
…
Victor Von Doom escorted Clea and Doctor Strange out of his home shortly after he was asked if he and Wanda Maximoff were, "husband and wife."
…
The question left him a little unsettled, and he wasn't sure how to proceed…
Oh.. and... allies?
So, they were allies..
That's what the Scarlet Witch said, so the ruler of Latveria left the conversation with a number of things on his mind.
He kept thinking about someone harming Wanda as well, and that thought was awful.
Doom was imagining her being shot in the chest, or something to that extent… but it felt like a memory.
He was a bit beside himself, truth be told, and the feelings he had began to worsen after he escorted himself to his bedroom.
Doom noticed that Wanda removed her things before the conversation took place, and…
That felt awful too, so he had to end the conversation without reaching a concrete solution…
...
He was grateful for the information that he received from Stephen Strange, but the rest of the conversation left him perplexed..
Doom planned to follow up on what he heard, for Wanda, and not necessarily for himself.
Resurrecting his mother was something Doom already tried to accomplish… all his life, and it only brought him more sorrow and torment..
Doom didn't want Wanda to go through the same thing. He heard about what she was going through, and then they eventually met in person…
It's safe to say Doom admired her from afar, and now they were "allies," so…
…
The man in the castle was wearing an off-white "dress shirt" underneath his dark green vest. It had a jacquard weave to it, but who's looking into stuff like that?
Anyway, Doom was thinking through what was said earlier… and he was partially focused on unbuttoning the cuff of his left sleeve.
Wanda Maximoff followed him to his room, but Doom clearly didn't notice.
She watched him fuss about with his sleeve, so she took his wrist in her hands and unbuttoned the sleeve for him.
Wanda could tell he was affected by that "civil" conversation, and she was doing some thinking of her own based on what was said.
Clea Strange was a judgmental little hussy, wasn't she? Wanda inwardly laughed at the thought.
She glanced up at Doom's exposed face for a moment, of course, then she started touching his hand.
The ruler of Latveria reacted to her touch immediately, and he started touching more of her skin.
Their hands just roamed around, a bit… and…
…
"Can you tell me what this says?"
…
Wanda brought up the hand-written note that haunted Victor Von Doom earlier.
He glanced down at the message, then he had to give the situation a gentle laugh.
Doom wasn't expecting that to resurface in that moment, and it stopped him from doing something devious…
He didn't want to translate the old woman's message at all, so he looked away from Wanda in protest.
His response made him seem very difficult, but it sparked a smile out of Wanda.
…
"I'll bargain with you over this message. If you translate it for me, then I'll agree to your persistent proposals."
…
Wanda was still lacing her fingers all around Doom's hand when she spoke again, then she watched how his eyes brightened up.
Say, what? Surely, Wanda had to be joking…
She wasn't joking, so she pushed the message a little more in Doom's direction.
He refused to look at it, until…
…
"It says… love will go through stone walls, but that's something she's been saying to me for a long time."
…
"They care for you down there. Did you know that?"
…
Wanda could tell.
The Latverian people cared about Victor Von Doom more than he knew, and Wanda noticed they did everything they could to communicate with him.
The old woman in town wanted to see him fall in love, have a wife, and all that stuff…
Wanda felt obsessed with it.. with everyone there, and eventually she understood all of it.
She wanted to learn everything about the Romani people, her heritage, and that was something she'd been thinking about for a while.
Wanda also wanted to learn from the ground up, and perhaps.. that was an ideal notion for Victor Von Doom?
Doom was still in a bit of disbelief.
I mean, he was processing what Wanda said, and he kept looking down at their hands.
Respect from the Latverian people came in waves.
They were upset with him at times, but yes… Doom was aware that they cared for him.
His mind started processing what a marriage to Wanda Maximoff would actually look like, because they already loved her.
Doom could tell, so…
…
"They're going to lose their minds. Did you know that?"
…
Hah.
Clea Strange was hot onto Wanda's behavior under that roof, because the two of them had already kissed a million times.
Wanda had been very intimate with Victor Von Doom, for a long while, and that's why the thought of them being "allies" hit him like a ton of bricks.
Doom thought the worst. He thought Wanda was pulling away from him, but… perhaps she wasn't..
The Scarlet Witch started kissing him after that, and that gesture between them had become way too common.
So, they'd be married, when? Tomorrow? Now? Or, perhaps the following day?
Wanda felt excited for it.
She also thought about taking a different path, and she started processing what a marriage to Victor Von Doom would actually look like.
Wanda began to wonder what sort of customs their people followed. I mean, what does a Romani wedding look like?
Doom didn't care about any of that in that moment. He was a bit preoccupied with Wanda's unexpected advance.
Plus, he knew those details were going to arrange themselves out there, with them… once they knew.
