"So Cap, did Colonel Phillips ever order you to do something you didn't want?" Clint asked.
"Can you be specific?" Steve asked. "I did serve in World War Two and did a lot of things."
"Good point. Ok. Did he ever...order you to take mandatory leave to rest or something like that?" the archer asked.
"Well, there was one time he ordered me to do something like that during a small town rescue operation where we were back up." Steve answered.

"Where is Captain Rogers?" Phillips asked.
"Still helping look for injured civilians, sir." a sergeant answered.
"He's been out there for four days. He must be exhausted." Phillips said.
"From what I understand, sir, I last heard that Captain Rogers is still going strong. Not slept at all but still very wide awake."
"Send a message then. Tell Rogers to get back here asap. Under strict orders from me."
"Yes, sir."
The grey haired colonel then went to the building they were using as temporary housing. He found two soldiers and quickly issued them orders that they willingly accepted.
As soon as Phillips left the building, he heard the familiar sound of a motorcycle and spotted the super soldier heading his way. He walked over as Steve parked his bike and climbed off. The captain removed his helmet and saluted.
"You asked for me, sir?"
"I did." Phillips answered. "Why haven't you returned to rest up?"
"Well...I actually don't feel that tired, sir."
"You mean to tell me that you've been awake and on search and rescue for four days and don't feel tired?"
"Exactly."
"Then I hereby order you to take the next two days to sleep and recover." Phillips ordered. "You try to argue with me and I'll make it longer. We need you on that field, yes, but we need you rested too. Just eat and get some sleep. There's two soldiers waiting for you. They'll make sure no one bothers you and be there if you need anything. That's all. Rest up, Rogers."
Steve watched his superior officer walk off without letting him get a word in edge wise. Knowing he couldn't win against Chester Phillips, he decided to follow the orders given to him.
He quickly went to his room and decided to take a hot shower before resting. He did feel better when he got his uniform off and stepped under the hot water. It didn't take long for him to wash up and get into comfortable clean clothes.
Leaving the small bathroom, he went back into his bedroom and shut the dark curtains. The room was cast into darkness and he then crawled into bed where he managed to fall sleep after a few minutes.
Three hours later, Colonel Phillips was returning to the building with a few other soldiers. The men began breaking apart and heading to their room before they gathered together to relax after a long day.
The two soldiers standing guard at Steve's door heard their comrades and hoped they would be quiet. A group of three walked by, talking loudly.
"Hey! Quiet." One of them ordered.
The three right away sileneced their voices and went to their rooms. One of the men quietly opened the door and peered inside.
The super soldier was still sleeping. Not at all bothered by the loud voices of his fellow soldiers.
Soon, the colonel appeared.
"Sir." the two greeted with a salute.
"At ease. Has Captain Rogers been resting?" Phillips asked softly.
"Ever since he went in, sir."
"Any one tried bothering him?"
"No one. Some other soldiers were talking a little loudly but the captain wasn't disturbed."
"I'll make sure to spread the word to keep things quiet and I'll send some fresh men to take over for you both. Keep up the good work."
"Yes, sir." The two said in unison and returned to their posts.
An hour later, Steve woke up when he heard soft knocking on his door. He stretched before getting up and answering the door to see one of the guards standing there with a tray of food.
"Sorry to disturb you, Captain Rogers. We brought you your dinner."
"Oh, thank you. Thank you very much." Steve said.
"My pleasure, sir. Enjoy." the soldier said and left, closing the door.
Steve turned on the light in the room and sat at the small wooden table to eat his dinner. It was then he noticed how quiet it was.
No doubt the colonels doing.
The super soldier did admit that it was calming, considering their reason for being in the area. After finishing his meal, Steve promptly returned to his bed to rest more.
He knew that being awake for four days wasn't healthy but the serum allowed him to feel so fueled for so long that he hadn't even realized how good it felt to sleep for hours on end. He hadn't been able to remember the last time he had been able to sleep like this.
It had been before his mother passed on, that's certain.
Morning soon arrived with Steve waking up at the crack of dawn like he normally did. He got dressed in his training clothes and opened the door to nearly run into Phillips.
"I knew you would be up." the older man said. "You still have another day to rest up. I suggest you take it before I add another day."
"Yes, sir." Steve agree, secretly hoping that the colonel had forgotten about the second day.
With the older officer gone, Steve begrudingly changed back into his sleeping clothes and just sat on his bed for a while.
His advanced hearing let him hear what the others were doing. It was easy to tell that they were getting ready to head back into the town to see what else they could do to help.
Knock, knock.
"Come in." he called.
"Room service." Bucky announced as he walked in, dressed and ready to go into the town with the other Commando's and holding a tray.
Steve lightly smiled at his friend.
"Wish I could get two days to sleep." Bucky said.
"It's pretty boring." Steve said.
"But you earned it. Here's your grub." Bucky said handing the blond the tray. "Phillips said that if anyone catches you out of your bed or out of this room, he's going to instead make you sleep for a week. I'd sleep all day if I were you, pal."
"I'll do just that." Steve vowed. "I really don't want to be asleep for a whole week."

"Three months later, I crashed the Hydra plane." Steve finished.
"Did you really stay awake for four days?" Bruce asked.
"I did." Steve answered. "Honestly, I didn't even really notice until Phillips pointed it out."
"And you rested the entire day?" Thor asked.
"I did. I really didn't want to take a week off and just lay in bed the whole time."
"Why?" Clint asked.
