"Just be glad that Coulson isn't a woman demanding your hand in marriage." Clint teased then shivered at the thought.

"I'm actually surprised that he did not ask about the time that you and the other older soldiers stormed through those gates of the memorial site." Thor said.

"That was awesome though!" Tony exclaimed.

"Captain Rogers. This isn't behavior suitable for a soldier of your status." a guard said.

"I'm not worried about my status." Steve replied and did his best to ignore the tv cameras that were capturing everything.

"Why are you doing this?" a reporter asked the super soldier who was clad in his first Captain America uniform, helmet and shield in hand.

"These men and myself fought during World War Two. We're here to visit the memorial and honor the memories of the men who fought with us and gave their lives fighting for their country. We didn't let the fear of storming the beaches of Normandy stop us. We're not going to let a little fence stop us!"

The hundreds of older and younger soldiers cheered behind the captain. The gathering crowd around them began to cheer the captain along.

Steve walked forward and easily removed part of the fencing. Younger men of every military branch moved foward and began removing more sections of fencing and throwing them into a pile.

"We're not going to let the shut down prevent us from giving our respects to our fallen brother's in arms. We earned this when we put our lives on the line for our country!" Steve declared before putting his helmet on and began to lead the large crowd to the memorial site.

A man playing the bagpipes marched alongside Steve as a chanting crowd cheered for all of the current and retired soldiers as they marched on.

In no time, they made it to the memorial site and began to give their respects.

"Captain Rogers,"

Steve turned and saluted to an elderly colonel in a wheelchair.

"Captain, it's an honor to be saluted by you but it's a greater honor to follow you after you stood up for us like that." the man said as he gave the super soldier a crisp salute.

"The honor was mine, sir." Steve replied. "Our president should have known that he couldn't keep us back. We fought long and hard for this country. Nothing can stop us from coming here to pay our respects."

"I hope that the president and congress aren't upset with you, captain." a young airman said.

"If they have a problem with it, they can come tell me personally. I give my all for our government but I will not stand for them trying to keep our veterans from their memorial." Steve said.

"And we won't let him do it alone!"

Steve turned to see the famous Iron Man suit come down from the sky to land a few feet away. Not too far away, he spotted the rest of the Avengers walking over.

"Captain, we are here to support you and your brothers in arms." Thor declared.

"You're as great a motivator now as you were during the war, captain." the colonel said with a smile. "If you were president, I have a feeling that our country would return to its former glor over night."

"That is a great idea." Tony said and turned to the crowd. "Who wants Captain America as president?!"

"Tear down the walls." Clint said with a smirk. "Down with the government."

"At least the current one." Tony said.

"I agree." Steve said. "If they were willing to block a memorial site and keep war veterans from entering, then I will stand by that statement."

"Then you can come in and take over as president." Tony stated. "With me as your vice president."

"As if!" Clint declared. "I'd be the one as vice president."
