It was the 1950s. Everyone is going on with their business. Jobs, school, and so on. A young boy named Adam, age fourteen was currently walking down a sidewalk. He had short blonde hair and his attire consists of a red cap on his head, blue jeans with a leather belt, wearing a brown leather jacket over a white T-shirt hiding his necklace he is wearing.
Adam is out on an afternoon stroll. Hearing the sounds of cars and music. As he continues with his daily walk he is suddenly greeted with a flier that smacked his face. He removed it. Looking to see where it came from only to notice it was a dog with a hat who was the one that smacked Adam with the flier. "Oh, sorry." A pug/Chihuahua breed apologized for smacking a piece of paper to his face.
"Eh, that's alright." He takes it and examines the paper. Adam reads that the paper is the advertisement for adoption at the pound. Since he's got nothing else to do. He decided to go check out the pound.
Upon entering the pound, he hears all the singing and the music playing. Adam wonders where the music was coming from and he proceeds to head to where the source is. When he arrived at the entrance, he was surprised to see them singing and dancing. Two people, dogs, and even cats. Everyone was dancing to the beat.
When it was over, A beagle dog in a black and blue leather jacket wearing a red collar which he hung his sunglasses on, noticed Adam's presence at the entrance. "Well it looks like we got someone waiting after our song." The beagle said. Adam is taken aback by a beagle suddenly speaking to him. He has never encountered something like this before. "Uh, um." Adam tries to find any words to reply to a beagle that spoke to him directly. But it was so sudden he couldn't speak.
The teen in a red jacket greets Adam upon his arrival. "Welcome to the pound, my name is Jeff, and you are?" The teen named Jeff asked Adam. "Uh hi, Adam. I'm Adam." He said his name.
"If you're here for adoption day, care to wait for a few minutes? We have to go do an interview and tour the museum for the 1000th anniversary of the bone of scone." Jeff said. "The bone of scone?" Adam tilted his head in confusion.
"You don't know? It's a sacred bone that holds the puppy power. I'm Cooler." Cooler shakes Adam's hand. "Puppy power?" Adam said, still clueless about everything. "Would you like to come with us? Some history lessons wouldn't hurt." A girl named Tammy suggested. Adam shrugs his shoulders in response to the idea. "Sure, I'll come along." Adam agreed.
With that, Adam walks alongside Jeff, Tammy, and the other dogs to the museum. Along with a retriever puppy who goes by the name Whopper. Adam briefly got acquainted with each of the dogs. Nose Marie, Bright Eyes, Howler. The dog Adam met earlier. Beamer, and Reflex. Each with their own perks, and personalities. At the museum, Jeff and Tammy are being interviewed by the crew.
"So you're here at the museum for the bone exhibit?" One of the crew asked a question. "Yeah, in commemoration of the thousand year anniversary of the bone of scone, we'll be holding an adoption bazaar at the pound." Jeff said. "Yeah, and everybody is invited to come over to adopt a pound puppy or pound purry of their choice." Tammy said while holding the puppy and the kitten in her arms. Adam heard the word purries and is confused about that word. "Pound Purries?" Adam said as he looked to Cooler with a confused gesture. "Just go with it, you'll get used to it." Cooler tells Adam. Adam just shrugs in response, and just moves on.
In the museum, a familiar wicked man is seen looking at the bone of scone. Wearing a purple shirt, purple pants, purple coat, and black shoes. His hair has a bald spot while his two sets of hair are supposed to resemble horns. "Ah there you are, the bone of scone. It was you that cost my family the sword, and the kingdom. Now… you'll be mine!" After taking more gazes at the bone. He hears some footsteps and voices. "Someone's' coming." He said.
He sneaks away to avoid detection. Cooler and the gang arrive at the exhibit. While Adam is listening in to Cooler talking about histories of big paw, and the bone. While admiring all the unique displays at the museum. Like the statue of a knight on a horse, and the crypt with a knight on top of it.
"Like how is it you think you know so much about all that?" Nose Marie wondered how cooler knows everything? "Come on Nose Marie, its legend. Aren't you hip to history?" Cooler said.
"Hey hey cooler what's that?" Whopper pointed. "Not now Whopper I'm on a roll. It's like my great grand puppy said to me: Us coolers are descendants from King Arthur's puppy, Digalot." Cooler continues on as Whopper notices something and tries to get Bright Eyes' attention. "Look Bright Eyes, there's the scone bone. Whopper pointed to a bone. Let's check it out." Whopper said.
Whopper and Bright Eyes split with the gang and went to what he assumes was a bone of scone as Cooler leads on until his voice is unheard.
Meanwhile Adam pays attention to every detail what cooler is saying. What really got his attention was King Arthur. To him, it rings familiar. "Arthur? Like Arthur of Camelot?" Adam said. "The very same one, you know him?" Cooler asked. Some eyes from the dogs turn to Adam, waiting for him to say something. "Not very much, but I did study about it. My uncle lent me the book that tells the tale about him, and his legendary magic sword Excalibur." Adam said.
"Do you wonder where the sword went?" Cooler asked. "From what I read, either the forest. Or the woods. But I doubt it exists, it is a legend after all." Adam said. "I don't know if I should believe that. Legends sometimes are real. If the bone of scone exists, maybe the sword does too." Cooler than sees a bone through the glass before continuing. "As a matter of fact, here it is. The bone of scone itself." Cooler gestures them to the relic. Everyone went to have a look.
"So this is the b-b bone of scone." Howler stuttered. "It sure looks special." Nose Marie added. Howler let out a howl in excitement. "I love to bury it." Howler said. "This ain't any old bone, this old bone is the bone of scone." Beamer reminded Howler. "Just think, without the bone of scone. We wouldn't be able to talk with all of you." Tammy said.
"That's right." Cooler said. Adam looks at the sacred bone of scone. From the looks of it. It's a silver bone with jewels as a decoration as it glows lightly. "No ordinary bone huh? I see why it looked very valuable. I guess since I am talking with all of you, it really is magical." Adam said to Cooler, starting to believe his stories. "You can say that again, what do you think whopper?" Cooler asked the retriever.
They all noticed no reply from Whopper. Now realizing he's not there with them and mysteriously disappeared. "Now where did Whopper go?" Nose Marie wondered. "Maybe he's looking for a fire hydrant." Cooler assumes. The group begins to go look for Whopper as they try calling his name.
As they searched around for Whopper, Cooler took notice of Adam's neck. He sees he's wearing some necklace, but doesn't show what it is since it's hidden in his shirt. "Hey Adam, what's that you're wearing?" Cooler wondered in curiosity. All eyes were on him in wonder.
He was at first nervous with all the eyes staring at him, then he tried to shrug it off and attempted to explain. "Well since you're all that curious, I would be happy to show it to all of you. Adam was about to show off his necklace. "I first had this when I was young-" Adam got cut off before he could finish, and reveal his necklace. Adam and the others saw the brown fur golden retriever, a nurse named Florence.
"Florence, how's Colette?" Jeff wondered. "It's time." She announced. Adam watched in confusion as they randomly all say it's time, passing on from their ears to ears. "Who's Colette? And what do you mean by it's time?" Adam wondered. "Colette is having her puppies darling." Nose Marie said.
Adam's eyes widened hearing that sudden news. "Puppies, they're here?" Adam said. "Yeah, Let's go see them." Reflex said. "Wanna see the pups?" Tammy offered to Adam. "You bet, I don't wanna miss this." Adam said in excitement. "So what are we waiting for, let's make like a banana and split." Cooler said. Everyone walks to the direction of the exit.
As Whopper chit chats with Bright Eyes, she regroups with them, figuring out what's actually happening. "Hey where's everybody going, to the park?" Whopper asked. "Colette is having her puppies come on." Bright Eyes went ahead while Whopper followed behind them.
Everyone started to rush outside. Then one of the cats, sitting by a lion statue wondered about what's going on? "What's up pup?" A colorpoint cat in a lavender shirt asked. "Come on Charlemange, it's time." Cooler said. A cat named Charlemange got excited hearing it. "We're coming." Charlemagne said. The cat picked up the stick, and shook the trashcan her boyfriend was in. A nebelung cat named Hairball fell out of the trashcan, along with some trash such as cans of tuna, and many fish bones.
Hairball spits out a hairball in response. "Is it time already?" He said. Everyone, and the cats went to the pound. They all eventually found her with the pups. Colette begins to sing, while everyone else adds their vocals to support her. Whopper tries to see the pups as the song goes on.
While Adam watches this heartwarming moment that the pups are here in this world. Adam steps forward and joins in with the others. When the song ended, they all heard someone opening the gates.
Adam and everyone look to see the man. A mischievous man in a purple coat.
