Back at the pound with Jeff and Tammy, the two of them tried their very best to make the puplings happy while the pound puppies were away. Worried and sick since it's been hours. Jeff uses the baby rattle while Tammy holds one pup. Unfortunately for them, no sign of happiness from them. The puppies are all hungry and only Colette can feed them.
"They don't need toys Jeff." Tammy puts the pup back in the basket with the other pups. "But what could we do?" Jeff wonders in question. "There's nothing we can't do. They don't need us, they need their mother. Or they'll starve." Tammy said. Tammy and Jeff look at the crying pups with sympathy. The gates are heard to open so sudden. Tammy and Jeff reacted by turning around. "Who's there?" Tammy said. They looked to see it was just a middle aged man with long black hair.
Wearing a flannel jacket, gray pants, and brown shoes. "Children, we need to talk." He said. Tammy and Jeff looked at each other with a confused look on their faces.
Mc. Nasty's castle
Lumpy and Bones returned with two dogs. Colette and Howler. As well as the other piece of the bone. Lumpy got himself an ice cream from the freezer. "Ha ha. The bone from now on, it stays with me." Marvin said as he put the bone in his suit pocket. "For once you didn't mess this up." The radar starts making noises. "Yet." Marvin finishes and goes to look at the radar. "What is it boss?" Bones asked. "I'll tell you what it is once I see what's going on you buffoons." On the radar he sees blue dots. That would mean one thing, they're about to be on their way to his property. Angered at the fact his two henchmen were followed.
"You've been followed." Marvin got right into his face and nudged Bones. Making Lumpy's ice cream splat on his face. Lumpy uses his tongue to get his ice cream and swallows it whole with the waffle cone. "Whoever it is, get out there and stop them. And while you're at it, be sure to bring me more dogs that will be worthy of becoming vicious guard dogs." Marvin instructs the order to them. "What about the kid?" Bones added. "If you see him, capture him too. I think I need to confirm if this is him or not. But the necklace, I'll have to take care of unfinished business. And then I need to find something that my family left for me." Marvin heads off to get them in the machine.
Meanwhile with Howler and Coletee. "What a-are we gonna do? I hope Cooler and the others come to the rescue…" Howler said with a howl. "I think we're out of time Howler, here comes ." Colette said. appears before them. "It's time soon to be guard dogs, to go right into the mean machine." Marvin looks at his two scary guard dogs with a proud look.
"It seems you all are about to have some newcomers join the nasty ranks. Which won't be long now." Marvin goes to the cage. He sees Howler trembling in fear. "You may be frightened now but soon you'll be scared of nothing. Nothing at all. All you will ever think, is being mean and nasty." Marvin monologues and he lets out an evil laugh that echoes throughout the castle.
At the Pound
Tammy and Jeff started to get skeptical about the man's sudden appearance at first. But the man tells them it's a different matter, not the adoption. With that out of the way they decided to hear him out. But first, they needed an introduction.
"Who are you?" Jeff asked the man. "Just call me Oswin." The middle aged man named Oswin said his name. "If you're not here for the adoption, then what are you really here for?" Tammy asks Oswin. "It's my nephew, Adam. Have you seen him? He hasn't come home and I'm worried and sick for him." Oswin motions over to the crying puppies. "It seems I see you also have your own problems." Oswin said. "Yeah, Colette has been dognapped." Jeff said.
"And puppy power is gone." Tammy said. "So I heard." Oswin said.
Flashback back at Oswin's house
"I was just having my own time at the house while my nephew was absent. I tune in to the news channel to see what's happening, and that's where I saw the worst news yet. The piece of the bone relic is stolen. Horrible indeed, as minutes and hours come by. I was starting to get worried. Fearing for his life I got dressed pleasantly and went out on a search." Oswin puts on his flannel jacket and rushes out to the door.
End of flashback
"I asked if anyone has seen him? But to no avail. And that's where it led me here today, so I apologized for barging in." Oswin said. "Actually it's us who should be apologizing, we just thought the same criminal would come here to take the puppies away." Jeff said. "But who would kidnap the dogs and steal the sacred bone of scone?" Oswin ponders.
"We don't know, but only Cooler does. But puppy power is already gone before we can know where Whopper is." Tammy said. "And who stole the bone." Jeff finishes. "Who is this Cooler and Whopper?" Oswin asks. "Cooler is a dog, the main leader of the pound puppies." Jeff said. "Whopper is a little retriever puppy." Tammy added. "Ah I see, and what of Adam? Is he alright?" Oswin said with worry. "We seen him sir, he's safe. But he's with Cooler." Jeff said.
"Adam is with Cooler, do you know where he's headed?" Oswin wonders. "Well, if he's headed that direction, I can only assume he's going to the woods." Tammy guesses. It wasn't long before Oswin figured it out. "The woods? Yes yes I hear stories about it. Where big paw lives. But how do we know if it's real if nobody has seen it? Sure they got the big paw print. But that's not enough to convince me. If no one else has seen Adam then I know the last place to look. Oswin said. "We wish you good luck sir." Jeff said.
"I hope you find him, Oswin." Tammy said. Oswin nods his head. "I will, thank you children. I pray the puppies mother gets found safely." Oswin makes his exit to the gates.
The Swamp
Lumpy and Bones ride in an inflated boat to the swamp to take care of whoever the intruders are that followed them while also making sure to capture some dogs and Adam. As they're riding along to the swamp, Bones starts to get heebie jeebies. Knowing who lives here in the swamp.
"Lumpy, this place is spooky. Big paw lives here" Bones said. "It's just a swamp you idiot." Lumpy replies, not wanting to deal with Bones' cowardly behavior right now. Which was to be expected for him the moment they were heading to the swamp. Bones is getting more scared as the boat continues forward while the sun starts to set. Making the area a little dark for them.
"But it's so dark, it makes me nervous." Bones stutters. "So then why don't you get out your flashlight?" Lumpy reminds him. "Yeah that's a good idea." Silly Bones forgot he brought a flashlight with him. "I wonder what it looks like?" He asked himself as he dug around the boat and found a flashlight he was looking for. He turns it on and points.
To see its Lumpy making a scary looking face. Showing its teeth. Bones doesn't realize it's his pal and begins to assume its big paw. "Big paw, it's big paw!" Bones panics. Lumpy uses his arms to block the light that's getting in his eyes. "It's just me you idiot." Lumpy said. Bones now sees it was him and sheepishly smiles. "Oh uh, sorry Lumpy." Bones apologizes and turns off the flashlight. Making things a little hard for Lumpy to see what's in front of him due to the little darkness beyond the swamp.
"Hey, I I can't see nothin. Where am I?" Lumpy waves around trying to see where he's at. Not noticing the shore the boat bumped right into. Making Lumpy topple over to the shore. Bones went to check on Lumpy. "Lumpy, did you get hurt?" Bones asked with worry. Lumpy faces him with an irritated look. "Not as hurt as you're gonna get." Lumpy raised his fist.
Bones tucked his shirt collar and gulped. Knowing he is serious. "Just give me the chainsaw." Lumpy said while urging himself on the inflated boat. Bones opens the tool chest and hands him the chainsaw. Lumpy starts up the chainsaw and sabotages the bridge by destroying the rope and damaging the wooden beam attached to the bridge. "There, that outta stops whoever's coming." Lumpy said. Bones turns the boat around and leaves while Lumpy laughs knowing his work is done.
Cooler and the gang arrive at the swamp and discover a wooden bridge to cross. If only they knew the upcoming danger that awaits them all. "But it's a swamp, with water. Us cats hate water." Charlemange said with disgust at water. Are you sure they went in there?" She asked Nose Marie. "Are you questioning Nose Marie who's nose knows what it knows?" Nose Marie replied with a diva attitude. "No time for debate, we have to hurry and find them." Whopper said. "Let's go." Cooler hops on the bridge. "We got to find them before it's too late." He said before running off ahead of them. "Cooler slow down dear." Nose Marie rushes off to follow him.
"Hey don't forget us." Charlemagne said. Her and Hairball ran along to the bridge. "We better go before the fearless leader puts himself in danger." Adam said as he headed off to the bridge next. Whopper follows him. "Hey Adam, wait for us." Bright eyes said and went to the bridge. "Yeah wait for us." Reflex said as he and Beamer followed last, catching up right next to Adam and besides Bright eyes.
Reflex pokes Adam's arm to get his attention. Adam turns to see its Reflex. "What's up Reflex?" Adam asked. "I know I said I don't feel good talking about it, but I was thinking. Maybe when it's all quiet around here I'll tell you about myself. Reflex said. Adam finds it odd at first he didn't want to talk about the bell trait, but he felt like getting to really know someone like reflex would connect with him. "Sure, whenever you're ready to talk about it I'm always here." Adam replies.
Reflex acknowledges with a nod. "Adam?" He turns to see it was Whopper, with a puppy dog look of shame. "If you're open to discussion Whopper, you may as well speak. So what's all of this about you being a future heir? Are you being promoted to a royal prince?" Adam interrogates him. Whopper Fiddles his paws for a bit as he finds his words to start a proper conversation.
"I wouldn't say prince, it's something…different." Whopper said. "What do you mean by that?" Adam wonders. "Look at my neck." Whopper points to his right side of the neck. Adam examines his right side of the neck and he finds something on his neck. A paw print.
"A paw print?" Adam puts on his clueless face. "It's a birthmark." Whopper says specifically. "What about it?" Adam said, still clueless. "Whopper is gonna be our future leader." Bright eyes chimed into the conversation. "Future leader of what?" Adam asked. "Of the pound, pound puppies." Beamer said. "Oh now I think I get it. But what's the pound puppies and what do they do?" Adam added another question. "Glad you asked, you see. It's our duty as pound puppies to help the poor dogs and puplings to find a home for the perfect human that loves them. Cooler, I'm sure you obviously guessed. Is our leader." Whopper explains.
"Back then it was just them five, but when we arrived. Now it's just seven." Reflex said. "The birthmark you saw earlier has a story that only Cooler knows. And one he told me as a bedtime story for me. Any dog with that kind of special birthmark, will one day take his place as a future heir." Whopper continues further on. With all of that, now Adam understands everything.
"So that's it, you all help the puppies find a decent home for them. I suppose it's no secret since you guys know all about it." Adam said. "I'm sorry we haven't told you. Well, I'm sorry." Whopper said. Adam shakes his head, already getting over it. "You don't need to apologize, Whopper. I fully understand. I never asked or wanted a big exclamation anyway. Adam said.
"It was the rule after all so what can ya do." Beamer said. "Cooler only tells us unless we're trustworthy of the important secret legend. An important secret that needs to be kept from anyone with a nasty heart." Reflex added.
"That's understandable. But I'm here aren't I? Whether I know or not either way, all I care about is rescuing Colette and restoring puppy power by taking the bone back. And we do it as a group." Adam says like he's giving a speech. Whopper, Bright eyes, Beamer and Reflex find his words very astounding. "What?" Adam wonders why they're all staring.
"Ya know that's something Cooler would say." Whopper said. "Geez I don't know what came over me?" Adam scratches the back of his head in embarrassment. A howl is heard echoing throughout the swamps. "What the heck?" Adam jumped from the howls. Whopper starts to shiver from that sound he's heard before. "B-big paw." Whopper stutters. "Big paw? Is that really big paw?" Adam starts to wonder.
Cooler and the gang continue onwards to the bridge. During all of that they hear that eerie howl. Putting fear into the group. "There it is again." Nose Marie said with fright. "And it's getting closer." He spits out a hairball. "I'm scared." Hairball said nervously. "Stay cool, let's just keep moving. Everything's under control. Cooler assures them. "Everything's cool, cooler says so." Bright eyes chimed in.
While continuing on the way and ignoring the echoing howls, Nose Marie thought to take the chance of talking with him. "Sky's beautiful." Nose Marie tells him flirtingly. Cooler instantly sees he's being hit on by her. "The sun setting always makes the scenery more beautiful. But every time you're in it, It gets more beautiful than ever. Your looks and the eyes paint a better picture." Cooler shoots his flirt back to her.
She expected it, but didn't count on going all out with this romantic discussion. "At least hope you're not running us into big trouble again like you did in that mine." Nose Marie reminds him about the careless act. He of course remembers that. "That was a fluke Nose Marie, nothing like that will happen again. Don't worry." Cooler said with overconfidence. Thinking it only happens once. But he would be proven wrong once again when they made it to the part of the bridge Lumpy and Bones sabotaged.
"Cooler there's something I wanna tell you." Nose Marie said. "Whatcha wanna tell Nose?" Cooler asks her. "You see about-" Her conversation abruptly came to an end when the bridge collapsed. Causing the whole group to fall into the swampy water. "Oh no!" Everyone said at the same time when they resurfaced.
"Hey! I can't swim." Hairball said while trying to keep himself from drowning. "Don't worry, it's quicksand." Reflex said while holding on to something hairy. "Reflex I don't think it's quicksand." Beamer corrected him. "Yeah, it's just swamp water." Adam tells them. "Are there any sharks in quicksand?" Bright eyes said while feeling scared. "For crying out loud, there are no sharks, and this isn't quicksand." Adam said, slightly losing his patience while he and Whopper try hanging on to the same hairy line that Reflex was grabbing on. He kept Whopper from getting deeper into the swamp water.
"That's ridiculous, there are no sharks in quicksand in this muddy water." Whopper said.
"A fluke huh? I suppose quick sands are flukes too huh?" Nose Marie said with disappointment in Cooler. "But it's not even- never mind." Adam was about to remind them but decides to give up and just goes along with this. Hairball swims in haste and takes hold of a vine-like thing. "What's this stuff?" Hairball wondered and spit out another hairball.
"Whatever it is, it's our best chance to keep from sinking. Grab onto it and pull yourselves out. Cooler said and he started to pull to stay balanced. And everyone else started to pull. "Pull hard Hairball." Charlemagne tells him. "Keep pulling." Whopper grunts. "I don't know how much longer I can hang on." Beamer said. "Keep trying Beamer, We can do this guys." Bright eyes encourages everyone to hold tight. They all continue to keep pulling and hanging on suddenly, The first half of the group got yanked up. "What was that?" Cooler wondered as he and the others also got yanked up.
Adam, Whopper, Reflex, Beamer, bright eyes, and Charlemagne got dropped to the other broken end of the bridge. Cooler, Nose Marie, and Hairball got dropped to the hard ground. They all slowly looked up to see who was responsible. A giant silhouette figure, showing its scary white sharp curved eyes. Staring down at them, making those scary dog growls. Nose Marie is about to reach her breaking point. "Its, Its, its." She's about to scream. Meanwhile, Whopper's reaction. "I-Its-Its-" Whopper is about to say the name.
"BIG PAWWWWW!" Nose Marie screams. "Big paw? Where, where?" The tall male puppy said, revealing his head. Nose Marie decides to make a run for it in a frenzy. Adam gestures them to regroup with Cooler. Nose Marie ran, ran, and bumped right into the tree. Knocking her out. The big puppy rushes right to her, making sure if she's okay.
"I hope she's not really hurt." He said and licked her face. Hoping she didn't suffer a serious injury. She opens her eyes to see its big paw in front of her. "Oh." He nodded. She reacted with a screech. Adam and others made sure they were doing alright, especially Nose Marie who just overreacted. "I knew it, I knew it. That is Big Paw, I was right!" Whopper said knowing how right he was. "Cool it, it's only a puppy." Cooler tries to calm her down.
"Yeah, but maybe he oughta pick on somebody his own size. Leave me alone you big ugly haystack!" Nose Marie yells at Big Paw. "Ah he just needs a little sprucing up. Besides, I think he was trying to help you." Cooler assures her. "Yeah, well by the looks of him. "He's the one who needs help." Nose Marie overreacts. "But I'm just a lonely puppy, without a home, and without any friends." Big Paw sheds a tear, and he begins to sing.
Scenery changes from the red pinkish sky as Big paw is seen walking to the woods, While the moon with the big paw print is shown in the sky. He starts to grab a bear and a moose and pulls them into a hug. Continuing on, he sings under the shining moonlight and starts to use his tail to sing as his microphone. The half of the moon turned into dust.
Big paw sings in his majestic voice and he zooms across Cooler and the others, who's dancing in the background. Then cutting to Big Paw weeping on the moon and below him are others holding hands. He twisted his tail for some pink tears coming down and turned into hearts while they were dancing. He adds that he is lonely, wishing he had a family and friends like them, And a home together he would share with.
Big Paw zooms and dances around with the spotlights in the background and he touches the bright star. Cooler and the gang go on with their dances and snapping fingers. Big Paw also dances while the shooting stars pass by him. Saying he's a puppy too and he howls in sadness. The blue sound waves from his howl formed a line, merging with the big dipper.
The purple liquid rains down, turning pink and forming a heart shape like last time. Others continued to dance as Bright eyes gave some hearts to Big Paw and both played patty cake. Big Paw goes on with his song on the bone tower as something in the background forms a heart as a symbol, grabbing onto the half of the moon. The moon breaks making him fall into the swampy water. Making everyone worry and thinking he's gone.
But he was alright, he was laying down. Wet from the swamp water. Saying he's a puppy too, just like them one final time..
"You see I have no friends, this place is so lonely." Big Paw glooms. The group feels bad for Big Paw, earning some aww from them. Adam here can relate to that sometimes. "Gee, that's rough. I've been there before." Adam laments to himself Bright eyes come forward with a big comb. "Don't be afraid we'll be your friends. You're not that ugly." Bright eyes said to cheer him up as she combs his fur. Showing his two pairs of eyes.
This made him happy hearing her words. "You mean, I'm your friend? And I'm not really ugly? You just made me one happy puppy." Big paw claps in happiness. "You gotta help us Big Paw." Cooler requested some help to Big Paw. "That's what friends are for." Big Paw replies. "We have to find the bone of scone and our other friends." Cooler said. "You mean you really need me?" Big Paw gave it a sniff. Figuring out there are others that've been here. "Follow me." Big Paw instructs them. Then his head perks up, sniffing again. He's found a strong scent.
He locks his eyes to Adam and sniffs him. "Hey careful, my necklace almost got sucked into that nose of yours." Adam said. It was all he needed to hear. "The necklace, I knew that broken sword charm looked familiar." Big Paw said. Everyone went silent when he confirmed he knew about Adam's necklace. Adam's eyes wide, surprised he happened to know about his gift from his granddad. "Wait a moment, you recognize it? What do you mean by that?" Adam asked.
"I've been waiting for you, Arthur." Big Paw revealed his hidden name. Cooler, and everyone was taken aback the moment he mentioned that name. "Arthur?" Cooler said. "No way." Whopper also says in astonishment. Adam stood here with his shocked expression.
