This chapter is based on Animan, featuring Evie with some changes.
It was the start of lunch at school and Evie had been invited to Marinette's for lunch. Caragh wasn't in school. She usually spent lunchtime with her.
Evie wasn't sure why she had been invited, the two girls didn't hang out with each other often but that's how she found herself walking out of school with the bluenette-haired girl and Alya.
"Gazing at pictures of Adrian again?" Evie asked.
Marinette had a copy of a fashion magazine in front of her.
"Oh, he's such a..." Marinette started.
"Smartie, hottie, yummy tastic spellbinder," Alya finished.
"All of the above," Marinette said. She was focused on the magazine and didn't see Nino and Adrian walk in front of her, causing her to drop the magazine on the floor.
"Oh, so sorry. Right Nino," Adrian said. He noticed the magazine on the floor and went to pick it up at the same time as Marinette. They bumped heads.
"Sorry."
"Sorry about that. How can we make it up to you? Any ideas Nino?" Adrian said as he turned to Nino. Nino didn't say anything but Evie noticed that he was looking at Marinette.
"Why don't we check out the zoo? "They have a new..." Adrian started as he nudged Nino.
"Panther, they have a new panther," Nino said.
"Awesome idea, right Marinette? You love animals" Alya said.
"Uh, yeah, I, uh, I'm really into zoonimals. I mean, uh, anizools. I mean zoonimoos" Marinette tried to say but couldn't get the words out. Evie knew that this was regular behaviour when Marinette was around Adrian.
"Cool. Say after school, four o'clock?" Adrian said as she looked at Nino. "Nino sound good?" Nino nodded. "Four o'clock it is then?"
"Four" Marinette said. Adrian and Nino walked away. "Four o'clock"
"Uh, earth to Marinette? You do realise the guy your completely crazy about has just asked you out, right?" Alya said.
"Yeah, you seem pretty calm about it" Evie added.
"Huh, wait, what?" No, not like this, Not here, not today. I haven't watched my hair. I'm not wearing my lucky socks. Help me Alya, Evie. I can't do this alone" Marinette said.
"We've got your back Marinette" Evie said while Alya patted Marinette on her head.
The three girls arrive at Marinette's. They walk in through the bakery. At the counter, a short woman with fair skin, short black hair and grey eyes stood. She wore a white Cheongsam with red, black and gold plant design, periwinkle trousers and black and white dress shoes. On her ring finger, she wore a silver band.
"Hi Mum," Marinette said.
"Hi, sweetie. It's nice to see you again Alya." Mrs Cheng said. She then noticed Evie standing next to Alya.
"This is Evie, she just moved to Paris," Marinette said.
"It's nice to meet you, Mrs Cheng," Evie said.
"Please call me Sabine," Sabine said.
The three girls headed upstairs to the apartment. Evie looked around Marinette's room, noticing the posters of Adrian.
"I've never seen so many posters of the same person," Evie said.
"Well, I like fashion. As you know Gabriel Agreste is one of my favourite designers. I have the posters for research purposes" Marinette told Evie as a blush appeared on her checks.
"It's ok to admit that you have a crush on him, Marinette," Evie said. "My Mum used to collect all the newspaper clippings that my dad took pictures for when they were dating, even the ones in different languages."
"That's so sweet," Alya said. "I want to be a news reporter when I'm older."
"Oh, he's not a news reporter on TV, he takes pictures for the events and culture sections. It's only recently that he's been covering news. With all the akuma attacks happening, they needed another person." Evie said.
After school, Evie went home to drop her school bag school, Evie went home to drop her school bag off.
"Evie, is that you?" Her Mum called.
"Yeah. I just dropped my bag off. I'm going to the zoo with Marinette and Alya," Evie replied. "They have a new panther."
"Ok then. Have fun" Her Mum said.
Evie arrived at the zoo and found Marinette and Alya. Marinette sat on a bench waiting for Adrian. Alya hid behind a tree, and Evie joined her.
"Whats with the ear piece?" Evie asked.
"It was Marinette's idea. I can tell her what to say to Adrian through the ear piece" Alya said.
"I still don't know if I can go through with this" Marinette said through the earpiece.
"Course you can. Just be yourself" Alya replied. Evie gave her a thumbs up from behind the tree.
"Remember the last time that happened. I walked into the boys toilets" Marinette admitted.
"Fine, be yourself but look where you are going" Alya said.
"Oh, where are you, love of my life" Marinette wondered. "I'm gonna talk to him, you'll see. I will talk to him."
"That's right. Way to be motivated" Alya said.
Evie recognised two of their classmates, Max and Kim arriving. They noticed Marinette and went to talk to her. At the same time Nino arrived alone.
"Uh, hey Nino," Marinette said looking around "Isn't Adrian with you?"
The conversation between Marinette and Nino quickly got awkward. Evie thought it was sweet how Nino was trying to confess to Marinette. They both found it hard to get their feelings across.
"Uh, with out him. What I mean is we don't need Adrian to hang out at the zoo," Nino said.
"Of course we do you dumbo," Alya said over the earpiece.
Marinette started to repeat what Alya had said before realising her mistake. Nino and Marinette continue talking.
"He's not coming," Marinette said.
Evie listens as Nino tells Marinette that he has a crush on a girl but doesn't know how to tell her. Nino mentioned Alya as being the girl he had a crush on.
"What? I didn't see that one coming" Evie said.
"It's not happening. No way, girl. Nino is like a brother to me," Alya said.
In the distance, they could hear people screaming.
"RUN"
They all turn around to see a herd of animals coming towards them.
"We better ditch this place," Nino said as he ran away. Alya, Evie and Marinette followed.
Evie hid behind a tree, watching as the animals made their way towards the entrance.
"It's not everyday that you find yourself running from escaped zoo animals" Evie said. Starr came out of hiding and hovered next to Evie.
"Hawkmoth must be at it again," Starr said.
"I guess it's time to transform," Evie said. "Starr, Blend in"
Evie arrived at a similar time to Ladybug and Chat Noir.
"So, what do you think of panthers now?" Animan asked.
"That panthers are the best," Kim said.
"What about Ladybugs," Ladybug said.
"And another black cat," Chat Noir added.
"How about leopards?" Evie joined in.
Ladybug looked at Kim "If you value your life then get out of here now."
Kim ran and Animan tried to follow him but Ladybug used her Yo-Yo to stop him.
"The bracelet. That must be where the Akuma is" Ladybug said.
"You hold him, I'll get the bracelet," Chat Noir said.
"Wait. I don't think that's going to work" Evie said as the herd of animals headed towards them. The heroes ran and climbed up a tree.
"We need to put them back in their cages," Chat Noir told them as they watched from the tree.
"Oh, I'm sure they will do that with out putting up a fight" Ladybug said.
"If we can separate them, find Animan then Ladybug can capture the akuma and fix everything" Evie suggested.
"First we better split up" Ladybug said as she pointed towards Alya and Nino running from a Gorilla.
Evie helps people escape from the animals and gets them to safety. Shen then spots Kim running towards the bakery Marinette's parents owned. Ladybug and Chat Noir arrived and Evie (Snow Leopard) went to join them.
"Sorry, I get held up," Evie said.
"That's ok. We learned that Animan can shift into different animals, not just a panther" Ladybug said.
"Kim will be safe for now. We need to come up with a plan" Chat Noir told them. "We also have an advantage. We know exactly where to find his prey."
"Animan will sniff him out sooner or later but your right, we have time to come up with a plan." Ladybug said.
"Yeah, before the whole of Paris becomes a jungle" Evie said as she looked at the escaped animals.
"Follow me," Ladybug said as she jumped down from the rooftop and walked into the bakery.
"Hi, Mo..mam" Ladybug said.
"You're, You're Ladybug," Sabine said.
"Yeah exactly," Ladybug said.
In the flat above the bakery, they watched a news report.
"We interrupt this broadcast with a special report. Animals are invading Paris. The police are working hard to contain the situation. For your safety, stay in your homes and remain calm. Mayor Bourgeois will address the.." Sabine turned the TV off at this point and looked at the three heroes. Ladybug walked over to Kim.
"You'll be safe here. Can I borrow this?" Ladybug asked pointing at Kim's wristband.
"Sure," Kim said as he gave Ladybug his wristband.
"Come one, Chat Noir and Snowy. Make sure you look all the doors and windows" Ladybug said. Evie noticed that Chat Noir was looking at pictures of Marinette and her parents.
"We'll take care of the rest. You won't be in danger" Chat Noir added as they walked towards the door.
"Thanks Da- uh, sir for all your help," Ladybug said.
The three heroes head downstairs. Ladybug placed Kim's wristband on the staircase. Shen then grabbed some air freshener and sprayed it.
"What's that?" Chat Noir asked.
"Air freshener. It will cover up our scent so Animan can't smell us" Ladybug said.
"Thanks, I've always wanted to smell like an ocean summer breeze," Chat Noir said.
Evie laughed at what Chat Noir said.
They looked outside at the street. It was a mess, people had left the cars in a hurry. A bus with the doors open could also be seen.
"Would that make a big enough cage?" Ladybug asked.
"Definitely but how could we get him inside there?" Chat Noir asked. He could hear Animan coming. "He's coming"
A ladybug flies into the bakery. Ladybug tries to use a box to capture him but Animan turns back into a Panther and runs around the bakery.
The heroes leave the bakery and run towards the bus. They hide, hoping to surprise Animan.
Animan uses his power to keep changing into different animals.
"All these transformations seem to be tiring him out," Ladybug said.
"Then we let him get tired. It will make it easier to capture his akuma," Evie said.
Chat Noir used his cataclysm on the buttons. The three heroes jumped out of the bus but Animan got trapped inside.
Animan changes into a bear and then changes to a gorilla before changing back to a panther.
"It's working," Ladybug said.
Animan changed into a T-rex and destroyed the bus.
"Hey. Since when do extinct animals county?" Chat Noir asked.
"The t-rex might have disappeared a long time ago but it is still an animal" Ladybug said as Animan got up and roared at them.
They back up and then run to hide behind a car.
"I think we need a bit of luck," Evie said.
Ladybug used her lucky charm and got a car jack.
"Shame that Animan doesn't have any flat tyres," Chat Noir said.
"That's true but look how small his front arms are," Ladybug said.
"I still don't get it," Chat Noir said.
"You and Snowy distract him while I use my Yo-Yo to tie him up," Ladybug said.
"Sounds like a good plan. I can be very distracting" Chat Noir said.
Animan found where the three heroes were hiding and chased them. Chat Noir managed to climb onto Animan while Evie turned invisible to confuse him. Ladybug tied his arms with her Yo-Yo.
"That's strange. I didn't need to use this" Ladybug said as she looked at the lucky charm. "What does that mean?"
"I guess it means the three of us make an awesome team," Chat Noir said. He walks towards Animan, only for Ladybug to pull him back out of the way from Animan's sharp teeth.
"I know what to do," Ladybug said as she ran towards Animan.
"Enjoy your meal," Ladybug said.
Animan appeared to swallow Ladybug.
Evie and Chat Noir look on in shock and horror.
"No, you're so going to pay for this" Chat Noir said.
Ladybug appeared from Animans mouth, using the car jack to hold it open. Evie and Chat Noir felt glad that Ladybug was safe.
Ladybug grabbed the bracelet and broke it, freeing the Akuma.
"No more evil doing for you little akuma" Ladybug said as she opened her Yo-Yo and captured the Akuma, "Time to de-evilize" Ladybug freed the purified akuma. "Bye Bye little butterfly"
"Miraculous Ladybug" Ladybug threw her Lucky Charm in the air. Hundreds of ladybugs flew around the city fixing the damage caused by Animan. Animan turned back to normal.
Ladybug held her fist out. "Pound it"
Chat Noir hugged Ladybug "That was a wild ride, my lady" His miraculous beeped "I better take my whiskers and run"
"See you next time Chat Noir," Ladybug said.
"I best be off as well" Evie said as smiled at Ladybug and left.
Evie turned back to normal. Her phone had some messages on it. Most were from Alya, they had exchanged numbers earlier in the day.
"So, Ladybug thought it would be a good idea to lock Nino and me in a cage"
"Evie, I think I have a crush on Nino now."
"I can't believe that Ladybug actually locked Nino and Alya in a cage," Evie said, looking at Starr.
"At least she didn't lock you in with them," Starr said.
"Yeah, that would have been hard to get out of" Evie agreed.
Evie decided to add to her list of names.

"Do you think Ladybug and Chat Noir go to the same school as me?" Evie asked "During Rogercop, Ladybug knew that he was Sabrina's dad which means that she would have to know people at school"
"Evie, you know I can't tell you," Starr replied.
Evie added two more names to her list.
Ladybug: Possibly go to the same school as me
Chat Noir: Possibly go to the same school as me
"You know you shouldn't be trying to find out who they are," Starr said.
"I know but I like solving mysteries" Evie replied as she put the list away.
