I can't lose the friend in her

"What happened between you two Hina?" Hanabi asked, worry evident in her voice. The girl in question sighed "He is not sure about his feelings towards me. He chose me because Sakura is already married. I did not want to be a rebound. So, I broke up with him." Hinata's voice did not shake like she thought it would, maybe she got accustomed to the knowledge that it could not hurt her anymore.
There was silence. Hanabi did not bombard Hinata with question like Hinata had expected her to, instead she stayed calm, as if trying to understand some hidden meaning in Hinata's words. She finally spoke, "Just know that I will support your every decision and I love you no matter what." Hinata feels grateful, both the members of her family supported her.
"Do you want me to stay or leave?" Hanabi questioned her sister.
"Stay. Maybe we can catch up. We lost so much of each other's lives in all this wedding stuff."
"I thought maybe we can go and have a friendly spar"
"DOBE, WAKE UP"
After a minute or two, door to Naruto's apartment slowly opened, revealing a very sleep deprived Naruto. Huge bags under his eyes, body slouched and eyes red, Naruto looked like a symbolic representation of depression.
"Why were you shouting so loud Sasuke?"
"Try calling someone for 45 minutes with no reply. You will understand. I started wondering if I had a funeral to prepare for"
"Thank you for being so considerate, emo" irritation was clearly audible in his voice. To see Sasuke was really the last thing he needed. "Why are you here anyways?"
"Sakura heard that you and Hinata cut your ties. She went haywire and kicked me out of house to fetch for you" Sasuke said, something akin to annoyance lacing his voice too. "You two are completely developed adults, I don't see why she has to interfere. And I definitely don't see the need of me fetching for you, so early in the morning."
"Stop using the word 'fetch' I am not a thing"
"Whatever, she said you are having breakfast with us. Go get dressed and come."
"Give me two minutes"
'Great, now Sakura wants me to have breakfast with her so she can interrogate me. What am I supposed to say- hey Sakura, Hinata found out that she was my rebound, so we broke up. If I say that, she will punch the life out of me.' Naruto thought while getting dressed.
"It took you ten minutes to dress up?" Sasuke asked Naruto as Naruto was locking his apartment.
"Stop complaining. I just woke up, I had to brush, bath and dress up" Rolling his eyes, Naruto replied, before starting to walk.
"Is it true?" Sakura's voice was not loud but it was not calm either. It had some eerie emotion to it. Something akin to the mixture of disbelief and anger.
"Let him come in Sakura. What happened to your so-called manners" Sasuke was being sarcastic, but Sakura was in no mood to enjoy it. Shooting a death glare towards her husband, she moved from the doorway to let them in.
"Now that you are in the home, tell me, is it true?" Sakura asked again.
"Is what true?" Naruto tried to play dumb, he was not willing to tell her the truth.
"DON'T ACT DUMB NARUTO, I AM TALKING ABOUT YOU AND HINATA" Sakura finally gave in to the urge of yelling. She no longer held the patience to act calm.
"Oh that, yeah it is" His eye downcast, his voice hardly above a whisper, Naruto tried his best to portray his discomfort regarding the topic through his body language.
"What do you mean by Oh that, yeah it is? Why in the whole world would you dump her, you baka! You can never find another girl who is half good as her or loves you like her" Sakura sounded annoyed.
"I know. For the record she dumped me." Naruto really didn't want to talk to her about his relationship with Hinata. He would rather die than be here, such was his desperation.
Sakura's mouth was hanging in mid-air, disbelief written on every skin cell present on her face. "She dumped you? But why? She loves you too much to do that."
"Yeah, I am aware."
"What happened Naruto. Please tell me. Maybe I can help" Worry and concern emitting from her body and voice.
"There is nothing to tell ok, I didn't love her the right way. I manipulated and used her feelings for me to feel better. She was too hurt and she left me that's it." Before he could realise what was happening or register Sakura's reaction, a fist collided with his face, he flew away, out of the still open front door and onto the Uchihas' lawn.
"YOU DON'T USE PEOPLE OR PLAY WITH THEIR FEELINGS OK." Sakura yelled on top of her lungs. "WHAT HAVE YOU DONE? DON'T SHOW ME YOUR FACE FOR AT LEAST A WEEK." She took deep breaths. "I am very disappointed" She gave him a look of disapproval before closing the door to her house.
The blow from Sakura was unexpected. He did expect her to be very angry and disappointed, but saying not to show his face for at least a week was so unexpected from. But as he sat at the river bank of Konoha, he thought that he deserved that hit. He hurt Hinata so much. He gave her a deep emotional scar. He deserved to get punched, if anything even more. What was he even thinking? Toying with Hinata's feelings. The shy kunoichi always supported him and trusted him. She called him a proud failure, encouraged him to fight harder during the war and jumped right in to protect him from Pein. She was a very dear friend and because of his foolishness he hurt her and destroyed her trust. He asked her to wait for him, but what if she didn't? He will lose her, not only as a lover but also as a friend. Realization started to sink into him, his actions caused a lot more than his relationship. He had to do something and he had to do it urgently. He can't lose the friend in her.
"It was so nice to spar" Hinata said with a light tone.
"I know right. It is a great stress buster too"
"True. I feel way better."
"Lady Hinata, Sakura Uchiha has come to visit you" A Hyuga branch member interrupted the sisters' conversation.
Hinata who was feeling slightly better, went back to her original state, however she decided ignoring Sakura was not right. Sakura had no part in Naruto's actions and was a friend of Hinata's.
"Ask her to be seated in my chamber, I will be there in five minutes" Hinata informed the branch family member.
