The sun hung low in the sky, casting a warm glow across the Hidden Leaf Village. Naruto, now a freshly minted Genin, stood at the gates of the village, awaiting the arrival of his new team. He leaned against the wall, his eyes narrowed with indifference as his hands rested in the pockets of his new, dark, battle-worn outfit.

Though he'd long ago ceased caring about the opinions of others, there was one thought that lingered in his mind: I will not be overlooked. Not anymore.

Sasuke Uchiha, the brooding, lone heir to the Uchiha clan, was the first to arrive, his dark eyes flashing with quiet intensity as he stood a few feet away from Naruto. Behind him, the ever-eager Sakura Haruno bounced up, a bright smile plastered on her face.

Naruto didn't spare them a glance. He didn't care about Sasuke's bloodline or Sakura's dreams of impressing him. To him, they were simply obstacles.

"The others should be here soon," Sasuke said, his voice low and unbothered.

Sakura, ever the optimist, spoke next. "Do you think he'll be nice? I heard the teachers here are really tough."

Naruto scoffed. "Who cares?" he muttered under his breath. "They won't matter anyway. I'm the only one who matters."

Sasuke didn't respond, his focus already elsewhere, while Sakura shot him a curious glance, her eyes narrowing slightly in confusion. Naruto's aura radiated arrogance, yet he didn't seem concerned with anyone's expectations.

Soon, a figure appeared in the distance, stepping casually through the village's bustling streets. Kakashi Hatake—renowned for his laid-back demeanor and mysterious aura—finally arrived, his silver hair spiky and his mask hiding most of his features. He didn't even acknowledge Naruto or Sasuke immediately. Instead, he walked toward them with a casual air, arms behind his head and a lazy grin on his face.

"Sorry I'm late," Kakashi said cheerfully. "Had to take care of a little personal business." He glanced at the three of them. "You must be my new team. Naruto, Sasuke, and… Sakura, was it?"

Naruto felt a flash of irritation. Kakashi hadn't even looked at him properly—he hadn't even acknowledged his status as the most powerful of the three. Instead, Kakashi's gaze lingered on Sasuke for a moment, then Sakura.

Naruto clenched his fists. He knows who I am, Naruto thought, but he's more interested in these two?

Kakashi finally turned his attention to Naruto, a glint of recognition in his eye, but only for a brief moment before he looked away again. "Ah, Naruto," he said, his tone almost dismissive. "You're the one with all the… potential, right? I've heard the rumors."

Naruto's eyes narrowed sharply. "Rumors? I'm more than that, Sensei." His voice was cold, edged with pride. "I'm better than these two, and you know it." He jerked a thumb toward Sasuke and Sakura, but Kakashi seemed unfazed by the outburst.

Sasuke raised an eyebrow, but remained silent. Sakura fidgeted, unsure of how to react.

Kakashi chuckled lightly, his visible eye crinkling in amusement. "I don't doubt that you're powerful, Naruto," he said, as if the words were some kind of acknowledgment. "But strength isn't everything. The real question is…" He paused, turning his gaze back to Sasuke. "…what's your story, Sasuke?"

Naruto's face twitched with frustration. Of course. He's focused on Sasuke.

Sasuke's eyes darkened, but he remained stoic, barely reacting to Kakashi's pointed attention. "I don't have time for questions. Just get to the point," Sasuke said coldly.

Kakashi smiled beneath his mask, completely unbothered. "I like that attitude," he said, glancing at Sakura now. "What about you, Sakura? What are your strengths?"

Sakura beamed, eager to impress. "I'm strong when it comes to chakra control, and I'm a quick learner. I'm sure I can contribute just as much as Sasuke and Naruto!"

Kakashi nodded thoughtfully, as if genuinely considering her words, before turning back to Naruto. "And you, Naruto? What can you bring to the table besides raw power?"

Naruto's patience snapped. His hands twitched at his sides, the familiar rush of chakra filling his veins like a fire threatening to burst free. His eyes blazed with fury.

"You want to know what I can do, Kakashi?" Naruto's voice dropped to a deadly whisper. "I can destroy everything in my path, and I don't need anyone to help me. I'm the only one who matters here. Don't forget it."

Sasuke and Sakura both stiffened at the intensity of Naruto's words, but Kakashi remained completely composed, giving a small nod as if the outburst didn't faze him at all.

"You're certainly confident," Kakashi said, eyeing him curiously. "But power alone doesn't make you a great ninja. It's about teamwork, too. You'll see."

Naruto's expression darkened further, his gaze steely. "I don't need teamwork. I don't need anyone."

Kakashi looked at him for a long moment, as if trying to understand the depths of Naruto's words—and his mind.

Naruto's thoughts churned. Kakashi doesn't see it. He doesn't understand. I don't need anyone's approval or validation. I'm going to show them all that I'm the only one who matters. They'll all fall behind me. Every single one of them.

The silence hung thick for a moment. Kakashi finally sighed, his lazy grin returning.

"Well, since you all seem so eager, let's get to it. The real training starts now."

As he led the group into the forest, Naruto kept his eyes forward, never once glancing at his new teammates. They're irrelevant. He could feel the power coursing through him, stronger than ever, and he knew deep down that no matter what the future held, nothing would change.

He was the one who would rise above it all.
