Chapter 4

Throwdown of the Titans

Godzilla stared intensely at the behemoth, and the irradiated dinosaur of destruction slowly moved to the side.

Another building crumbled under the radioactive leviathan's feet, and the ancient reptile circled the gargantuan turtle with a snarl. Gamera maintained eye contact with the beast, and a roar left his mouth. Neither reptile had encountered each other before, and Gamera could sense the radioactivity roiling off the dinosaur, and emanating from his body.

One look at the turtle, and all that Godzilla could see was an inferior predator who challenged his dominance. Only one would reign supreme, and it would not be some turtle with a spiked-shell.

Gamera let out another roar, and Godzilla roared back. The beasts stepped forth, ready for battle with one another, and the foundations of civilization collapsed into rubble under their gargantuan feet. Gamera raised an arm, and swiped at Godzilla with his talons.

The irradiated reptile ducked his head, and rammed the turtle head-on. Howling with surprise, Gamera collapsed on his back, and stared up at the advancing Godzilla. The dinosaur's foot loomed over the mighty turtle, and the Atlantean beast snarled before proceeding to channel all the energy he could muster.

The turtle's mouth opened, and the behemoth spat out a ball of fire into the face of his reptilian rival. The fireball exploded upon impact with Godzilla's face, and the partially-blinded titan stumbled backward with a howl.

Rage boiled up from within, and the kaiju king bellowed furiously. He stared down at Gamera, and his dorsal plates pulsed vibrantly. A stream of blue fire exploded from Godzilla's mouth, and slammed into Gamera's body.

The fire-breathing turtle titan howled, and the village around the clashing beasts went up in a ball of flame. Cars melted, buildings were reduced to ashes, and people scurried for safety.

Godzilla roared with satisfaction, and the ground beneath him began to rumble. The dust began to settle, and the ancient beast was struck with shock as he saw Gamera moving again. The titanic turtle beast, who lay helplessly on his back, rolled over onto his front, and rose to his feet before turning to face the scaly goliath.

For the two titans, the battle had just begun, and the island inhabitants who fled the village knew it.

Both combatants snarled with hard-focused animosity, and Godzilla charged towards Gamera. The turtle roared, and fired another ball of flame at the gargantuan dinosaur, which the irradiated lizard ignored as the fireball exploded against his body. Godzilla rammed his nemesis in the torso, and bit down upon Gamera's arm.

A shriek of agonized rage left the turtle, and he pushed back against Godzilla. The titan's maw glowed, and a stream of fire shot out of Gamera's mouth. Godzilla roared furiously as the flames licked his face, and his dorsal plates upon his back gave off another flash of blue energy.

Godzilla's mouth opened wide, and a large stream of atomic energy burst forth, exploding into Gamera's face, and blinding the Atlantean-made turtle beast. Godzilla wheeled around, and struck Gamera with his tail. The half-blind titan howled, and collapsed on his side, with the earth shaking around the two giants.

Their battle slowly moved away from Jatosama Village, with Godzilla striking his rival with relentless force. Gamera's eyesight recovered, and he snarled angrily at the attacking kaiju.

A hard-relentless Godzilla swiped at Gamera, with his claws grazing the turtle's face. The fire-spitting goliath's fireball attacks reminded the prehistoric kaiju of the blinding flash of light he'd seen years before, courtesy of the nuclear bomb tests that irradiated Godzilla.

Godzilla reached in, and grabbed his mighty rival from both sides. He lifted Gamera off the ground with the strength he possessed, and the mighty Kaiju threw the turtle as hard as he could. Gamera howled, and crashed into the ground, smashing a pair of trees while sending plumes of dust flying into the air.

He lay on his shelled back for a moment, then he rolled over on all four, just like at the start of the battle. Such an effort was impossible for any regular-sized turtle, and Godzilla was briefly dumbfounded by what Gamera was capable of.

The nuclear goliath let out a thundering roar, and charged his rival. Godzilla threw hands with Gamera once more, and punched him in the eye before Gamera slashed at the megaton dinosaur's face with all claws aimed towards his eye. The mighty Godzilla ducked, and grabbed a tree from off the ground.

Gamera snarled again, and his near-resilient enemy noticed a fiery glow within his maw, indicating that Gamera was getting ready to unleash another wave of fire. The enormous dinosaur grabbed his rival's jaw, and pried open Gamera's mouth. Godzilla lifted the tree in his hand, and shoved it all the way inside the burning maw of the titanic reptile.

Smoke rose from Gamera's mouth, and the turtle felt his lungs constricting with each moment Godzilla fought to shove the tree down his throat. His eyes widened, and the fire-breathing titan stumbled while letting out a furious growl. He attempted to retaliate with a burst of fire, and the tree erupted in flames in Godzilla's hand, burning into a disintegrating crisp.

Godzilla pulled back, and roared furiously as his rival lunged for the dinosaur. The radioactive titans grabbed one another, and the two monsters pushed against one another as the earth shook beneath their feet.

Both giants let loose with bursts of atomic fire, with a blast from Godzilla sending Gamera hurtling towards the base of Mount Mihara. Rocks fell from the peak of the volcano, and rolled past the ancient turtle giant. Godzilla marched towards Gamera with a snarl, and the turtle lowered himself on all fours, then he charged to intercept the oncoming dinosaur.

The mighty kaiju studied Gamera's move, and let loose another blast of nuclear energy on the ground, causing an explosion that halted the turtle in his tracks.

With swift reflexes, Godzilla reached down to grab Gamera by the head, forced his mouth open, and unleashed a stream of radioactive fire down his rival's throat. Gamera writhed in pain, and slashed Godzilla across the abdomen, his claws grazing the titan's scaly flesh.

Caught by surprise, the reptilian behemoth's attack ceased, and he toppled over, with slight blood rolling out of the wound inflicted by his nemesis. The fire-eating beast of Atlantis kicked Godzilla in the chest, and glared at him with rage in his eyes. Gamera coughed, expelling a hint of blue radioactive energy from his body, and prepared to unleash another burst of fire.

Godzilla stared up at his fire-breathing rival, just before he felt his wound healing. Every cell in his radioactive body, new and old, began reforming, and the injury closed up in moments. Rejuvenated, and brimming with renewed energy, Godzilla fired a stream of radioactive energy at the behemoth's leg.

A surprised Gamera collapsed to the ground in pain, and his rival stood with a triumphant howl. Godzilla's dorsal plates flashed, and the titanic dinosaur reached down to grab his towering rival by the middle of his tail.

He lifted Gamera in the air with the strength he could muster, and the kaiju king spun the turtle around before letting loose. Gamera howled, and flew several feet through the air towards the crater of Mount Mihara. Godzilla channeled his great power, and fired another volley of searing atomic heat in Gamera's direction.

The turtle noticed this, and began retracting his head, arms and legs into his body. Godzilla's heat blast struck, and an explosion lit up the air.

The ancient Atlantean beast collapsed upon the edge of the volcanic crater, landing on his back, and the mountainside quaked intensely. Godzilla bellowed an earth-shattering roar, and the ground beneath Gamera gave out. The shelled-up turtle fell into the crater of Mount Mihara, and his enemy watched with a gleam in his eyes.

A hint of lava shot into the air, and Godzilla watched silently. Perhaps it was over, or perhaps Gamera wasn't done yet.

Just then, a shrill whirring sound filled the air, and the mighty turtle rose out of the crater, taking the form of a UFO as he flew. Godzilla prepared for the enemy's next move, and the airborne Gamera swooped towards the king of the monsters like a bullet.
