Chapter 5

To The Sea Below

The atomic dinosaur prepared himself for Gamera's incoming attack.

With each critical moment, the gigantic turtle was closing the distance, and he appeared to be spinning like a whirl-blade. The flames emitting from his body were glowing intensely, and Gamera was moving faster. Godzilla took a step forward, and reached out to catch the scaly saucer of fire with both claws.

The towering turtle flew closer, and the beasts collided once more.

Oshima Island trembled as Gamera rammed into Godzilla, the latter grabbed his rival from both sides, and the prehistoric beast felt a hint of searing pain in his hands, with Gamera's flames licking every inch of the goliath's palms and fingers.

The turtle's body shook in Godzilla's grasp, and the King of the Monsters tightened his grasp.

With a fierce howl, Gamera raised his head from within his shell, and Godzilla's footing began to slip. The bursts of flame from every other corner of the turtle's body intensified, and the fire-breathing behemoth took to the air with Godzilla holding onto his equally gigantic foe.

Both kaiju flew over the landscape of Oshima Island, and they passed the smoking crater of Mount Mihara as islanders watched the scene from below. Godzilla growled and Gamera roared, the former breathed slowly, and his dorsal plates pulsated with nuclear energy.

Gamera looked back, and growled at the irradiated dinosaur with disdain. The clashing kaiju soared past the edge of the island, and were above the open sea, with the landscape of Oshima Island getting smaller behind them.

Godzilla's jagged dorsal plates lit up intensely like a series of fireworks, and his mouth opened wide, unleashing a great white-blue beam of atomic energy onto Gamera.

The torrent of nuclear fire burned into the turtle's torso, and lanced through the holes where his legs were hidden. Gamera howled in pain, and his flight path shifted. A wave of pain roiled through the Atlantean beast's body, his levitation breaking, and he plummeted down towards the ocean below.

Earth's gravity field caught hold of the two titans, and Godzilla's grip upon Gamera weakened. The radioactive reptile snarled, and glared at his nemesis as they fell towards the great blue sea that raced up to meet them.

Godzilla roared again, and fired another stream of concentrated atomic energy at his nemesis' face. The turtle countered the attack, and spat out another fireball in the towering dinosaur's direction. Both goliaths crashed into the sea, and the deep blue swirled around Godzilla and Gamera as they sank to the depths.

And yet, this was not the end of the battle as one would assume.

Hard-pressed, and brimming with strength, Godzilla swam towards Gamera and slashed at him. Gamera snarled, and flipped around with his shell blocking the beast's deadly claws. Godzilla growled with rage, and slashed at the back of Gamera's head.

The turtle turned, his eyes gleaming intensely, and the Atlantean beast growled. The ancient reptile swam towards his prehistoric counterpart, his mouth opening with a snarl, and he bit into Godzilla's arm.

A growl of rage and pain reverberated from Godzilla's maw, and the beast slashed at Gamera, grazing the area around his eye, before fighting to free his arm.

Red mist rose around Gamera's head, and Godzilla's arm, blood mixed with waters of the ocean. The blood came from the latter, courtesy of the former. Determined to free his arm, Godzilla swung his shoulder, and channeled every ounce of nuclear energy he could muster.

Waves of radioactive power flowed from his body, and Gamera shrieked with pain as he felt an intense pulse of radioactivity burn into his mouth.

He pulled back, freeing Godzilla's arm, and allowing the wound to heal. The king of the monsters glared furiously at his nemesis, and Gamera took a moment to let his mouth heal.

Rage boiled within the two ancient beasts, and Godzilla snarled at the titanic turtle of Atlantis, as the latter shot a greatly infuriated look at the towering King of The Monsters. In that moment, their battle continued.

Godzilla propelled himself towards his shelled rival, and raised his claws in preparation to attack him. Gamera let out a throaty growl, and raised his arm before the titanic dinosaur slashed at him.

A small trace of green blood oozed from the turtle's wrist, and Godzilla reached under the beast's defenses before grabbing Gamera by the throat. Both giants floated towards the sea floor, and the turtle snarled in agony.

Godzilla tightened his grip, and Gamera, struggling to break his enemy's grasp and breathe freely, jerked his head upward with his snout slamming into Godzilla's face. Pain rolled through his snout, and the leviathan's grip on Gamera's throat weakened.

The kaiju retreated, and his rival snarled with fury before moving to swipe at him.

Godzilla rubbed his nose, before drawing a deep breath, and his dorsal plates flashed again. His mouth swung open, and another ball of radioactive plasma shot out, striking Gamera below the neck.

The turtle titan bellowed furiously as a slew of bubbles emerged from his mouth and nostrils, and Gamera lunged for Godzilla.

A gleam of fiery energy lit up in the turtle's throat, and Godzilla's dorsal plates began flashing red as he and Gamera grabbed each other. A build-up of nuclear energy reached it's tipping point, and the ocean around the titans began boiling intensely with radiation.
