Chapter 11
Monster Battle in The Metropolis
The meeting room was in chaos.
Prime Minister Fujeta had wasted no time in putting together a meeting with his advisors and every member of his cabinet after receiving word of the events at Okinawa. However, once the news of Godzilla's arrival had come in, the meeting fell apart as everyone squabbled over how to handle the situation.
Fujeta struggled to think of what the best course of action would be. He hadn't prepared for the possibility of a real Godzilla attack, and how a politician like him would handle such a matter. Fujeta had been a boy during the first attack in 1954, and the Japanese government had been thrown into shambles by the first Godzilla's rampage.
And yet, another unhelpful development next to the arrival of Godzilla took the form of the news pertaining to Gamera's attack on the Fukushima nuclear plant, which only added fuel to the fire with the chaotic meeting.
"Japan should develop nuclear weapons!" A secretary shouted, focusing on the Godzilla situation, "Nuclear weapons powerful enough to wipe Godzilla off the face of this planet!"
"No..." A man said firmly, "The Japanese should never develop engage in the development of nuclear weaponry."
"Sir, we should evacuate..." The Prime Minister's aid suggested, "Godzilla could be coming this way!"
"We have reports of radioactive fallout in the streets of Tokyo from Godzilla." Someone reported intensely.
Just then, a woman in a dark suit rushed into the room with wide eyes. "Prime Minister!" She shouted, "Gamera was just spotted flying over Tokyo!"
"Gamera's attacking Tokyo?!" Someone demanded with fright.
"Godzilla and Gamera are attacking the city together?!" A political adviser exclaimed.
Fujeta shot to his feet, with his hands and knees trembling. "As if attacking Fukushima and the resurgence of Godzilla weren't enough..." The Prime Minister said breathlessly, deciding it was time to evacuate, "We now have to deal with both Godzilla and Gamera destroying Tokyo?!"
He never ceased his search for sources of fire and radiation to feast on.
And even from a great distance, Gamera could sense the immense level of radioactivity that emanated off Godzilla's body as the irradiated dinosaur marched on. Gamera would feast upon every last ounce of nuclear energy that the leviathan carried, along with every last trace of fire within his body, once the irradiated prehistoric lizard had been defeated in battle.
The fire-breathing turtle streaked across the the skyline above Tokyo like a comet, following the distant gleam of flames and the cloud of smoke rising into the air. The turtle saw Godzilla from a distance, and he made a beeline straight for him.
Gamera rocketed past Tokyo Tower, partially melting its beams, and picked up speed. His body hurtled through the air like a bolt of lightning, and the titanic turtle dove towards the advancing King of The Monsters.
Godzilla's movements slowed, and the gargantuan reptile's head turned as the incoming sound of whooshing reached his ears. He spotted the outline of Gamera in flight form racing towards his position like a missile, and Godzilla's vocal cords rumbled with a growl. The radioactive leviathan had found him.
With the distance between both monsters closing fast, Godzilla ducked, and swung his tail, striking Gamera as he flew over. The flying turtle crashed into a building complex, and rubble flew everywhere as dust rose into the air.
Filled with resolve, Godzilla stomped forward, and let out a thundering roar that shook the streets. Moments later, a fireball streaked out of the debris, and struck the dinosaur-turned monster in the midsection, taking Godzilla by surprise. Gamera rose to his feet, his eyes flashing with fiery determination as he locked eyes with the prehistoric radioactive behemoth.
Godzilla thundered towards the turtle, and slashed at his nemesis with his claws. Gamera ducked his head inside his shell, and evaded the grizzly attack, before the 100-meter tall prehistoric leviathan rammed into the megaton turtle.
A surprised Gamera stumbled back, nearly colliding with the nearby Ginza clock tower, and quickly regained his balance. The titanic reptilian glared at his nemesis, and took a deep breath as he summoned his fiery strength within, then he spat out a stream of fire at Godzilla.
The imposing leviathan countered with a burst of his radioactive plasma, and an explosion lit up the Tokyo skyline as the fires collided. Rooftops were scorched, and Godzilla surged through the fiery cloud towards Gamera before wheeling around to smack the turtle with the swing of his tail. The Atlantean titan toppled over, and crashed into the clock tower behind him.
Dust rose into the air, and the rubble from the Ginza Clock Tower toppled into the streets, even on top of the entrance to a nearby subway station where people had taken shelter. Godzilla advanced towards the fallen Gamera, who lay flat on his back, and fired off a stream of his radioactive breath that tore into his torso.
An explosion shook the ruins of the Ginza Clock Tower, and burned the streets, Gamera howled as the blast of Godzilla's nuclear breath ripped away part of his flesh. Green blood oozed from the wound, and the King of The Monsters snarled at the turtle in an intimidating manner.
Even then, the battle was not over.
Gamera, with the strength he possessed, opened his maw and spat a fireball into Godzilla's face. The irradiated prehistoric beast stumbled backward, and Gamera retracted his head and limbs into his shell. A moment later, flames erupted from every hole in the turtle's body, and Gamera spun before floating up into the air.
The resilient turtle kaiju rotated in mid-air into the right-side up position, and took flight over the skyline of Tokyo. Godzilla watched, and prepared for his foe's next move. This wasn't a retreat, and he knew it. He stood his ground, watching with a growl, and Gamera circled the area. A second later, the flying turtle pivoted around, and rocketed towards Godzilla like a missile.
