Ch1
Keyaru laughed manically as the held the Philosopher Stone in the air, it's power reverberated throughout the area pushing all away from him. It's mine. A sadistic grin spread across his face as he looked at his tormenters. You'll all pay a hundred fold for what you all did to me.
"You fool stop this at once!" Princess Flare yelled.
He glared at his tormenter. When I destroy you it will be the happiest day of my life. The power of the Philosopher Stoner answered his call, he was going to make his wish. He wanted it badly, to inflict the revenge he so desperately craved. All the pain and abuse that was inflicted upon him
"Send us to a place where I can get the revenge I desire! Wipe their memories clean and give me a place to execute my vengeance!"
The stone sent out a powerful burst of energy. Finally it shall come. He laughed maniacally as the red beam of energy enveloped the area. His mind went blank as he slowly fell unconscious. All the memories of his life passed through his eyes. The years of torment and abuse by Flare and her minions replayed in his mind. But he'd get his revenge. He wouldn't rest until they were all dead.
Flare you whore I'll destroy you and your supporters. All those who used and abused me will perish by hands that I swear. The stones energy resonated with him, his body reverberating with its energy.
His mind was spinning as he was slowly gaining consciousness. "Father I didn't know of a fifth hero?" The voice was female but he didn't recognize it.
The sound of an old man grumbling filled the room. "I don't know either."
He slowly opened his eyes to see a regally dressed old man and a young woman with purple hair. "Ah you're up," she said with a smile, but he was no fool he could see something behind the kindness in her eyes. "Please tell me your name."
He carefully got up and looked to see other young men around his age. One was an arrogant looking guy with blonde hair, the other a short kid with grown hair, while another kid had short black hair in a bowl, the final guy also had black hair but it was more unkempt and his gaze looked as if he had no idea where he was.
The old man cleared his throat. "Boy my daughter asked you a question. Who are you?"
It took all of his will power to not slap the old fool. Calm down just lay some foundation. He didn't know where he was but he knew how to act. "I-I'm Keyaru." He swallowed the lump in his throat as he did his best to appear weak and insignificant. A screen popped up in front of him. "Keyaru the Healing Hero."
His gaze quickly scanned his stats. Damn it why are my powers so low. He still had some of his abilities but all of his stats were at zero. How am I supposed to get my revenge?
The purple haired girl stepped forward. "Forgive my father for we are in dire times. I am Princess Malty S Melromarc and this is my father King Aultcray Melromarc XXXII." Her voice was soft but something about her made his hairs stand up. "Welcome to the kingdom of Melromarc dear heroes we are dire need of your aid."
Melromarc? He had never heard of such a place. I guess the stone did its job. "Wh-What do we need to do?" He asked timidly. Scanning the other heroes he could tell they were just as lost as he was. More importantly where is that whore Flare? He wouldn't let her get away no matter where she was.
Princess Malty stepped forward. "Defeat the waves when they come to us. Only then can you all return home. You all have your own weapons and powers that will help our cause."
Like hell I would. But he only nodded and shivered, he had to play the part of a scared boy. I'll find you Flare, if you are here with the rest of them I'll destroy you all.
He quickly scanned the digital screen in front of him, it was similar to the one that was in his world but his states were all down. Looks like I'll have to start from the near bottom but my stats are a bit higher than I expected. Good.
It was then he noticed he had a weapons. With a motion of his hands a pair of bronze gauntlets appeared on his arms. Now this is interesting. Whatever these gauntlets were they appeared to enhance his powers. I'll check this out later.
"Please follow me," Malty said.
The other heroes nearly knocked him over as he deactivated his gauntlets. "Hey watch you step," said one of them.
"S-Sorry," he muttered doing his best to appear inoffensive.
The guy looked at him sympathetically. "Don't worry I'm new too. I'm Naofumi the shield hero apparently."
"K-Keyaru. Um I'm the healing hero." Looking the man over he didn't see him as a threat. "Come on we should go."
They followed the other heroes into a large throne room. Throngs of people watched them as King Aultcray sat on his throne. "Now then dear heroes it is time for you both to form parties." The king clapped his hands and a group of adventurers wearing a variety of armors came and quickly joined the ranks of the other heroes.
He says other heroes because not a single person lined up behind him or Naofumi. "Hey what about us?" Naofumi asked.
King Aultcray frowned. "Well we can't force people with you," he said with a half sneer.
This guy is really starting to piss me off. Depending on how things went he might have to consider adding to the list of people he wanted to 'heal'.
Malty stepped forward. "Shield Hero I'll be in your party." She then turned to him. "As for you-"
"I'll join," said a voice that made his blood run cold.
Flare came up with a smile on her face. That innocent face that brought him so much trouble. His posture turned rigid as he looked her over half expecting her to attack him. But she only smiled and curtsied politely.
"Ah Flare thank you," Malty said. "Do not worry Keyaru Flare is my lady in waiting and her friends."
He swallowed his trepidation and bowed politely. "Thank you." You'll all pay. This maybe a different world but Flare and her cronies were rotten to the core.
"Well I guess we both have parties," Naofumi said. "Uh do you want to work together?"
He nodded slowly. "Yeah sure." Naofumi seemed nice enough and looking him over he could tell the boy's gesture was genuine.
Looking at Malty and something deep inside of him told him she was not as nice as she seemed in fact the same alarm bells that warned him Flare were going off in his head.
"Come on lets us practice you powers," Malty said with a grin.
"Oh wait my lady," Flare said. "Kureha needs to be healed, could Sir Keyaru possibly heal her?"
"Sure if he really is the healing hero," King Aultcray grumbled. "Kureha has done this realm a big favor. If he really can heal her then he should do it." The man looked at him and Naofumi with such disdain he wanted to slap him across his ignorant face.
This bastard is really pissing me off. But he only nodded. "U-Uh sure. B-B-But I don't know much yet. I hope that's ok."
"Don't know I know you can do it," Malty said. "Come Naofumi lets all watch him."
"Uh sure," Naofumi said as he looked around half cluelessly.
Alright just like in the past. We'll see just how this world really is. He carefully walked next to Naofumi keeping his enemies in sight as they exited the castle and found Kureha. She was kneeling on the ground with one arm, just like his world she had lost the other.
The sound of birds playing in the fountain provided a calming atmosphere as he carefully observed his surroundings. My powers aren't as strong as before. But I'm not completely at zero. He'd have to tread carefully, this wasn't his world and he wasn't about to die in it.
"Alright do what you can do heal her," Malty said.
"Uh sure," He said as he carefully approached Kureha.
The young girl smiled at him. "Can you really help me?"
He smiled. "I can." Frankly she never treated him badly, in fact she was nice from what he heard. "I'm Keyaru and this is Naofumi."
Naofumi nodded. "Nice to meet you."
Kureha sighed. "I can't believe I was careless. How can I defend the kingdom against the waves with only one arm."
He kneeled down carefully watching his surroundings. "Don't worry I'll do my best." Taking a deep breath he placed his arm on her shoulder. "Heal."
A surge of energy passed through him, he let out a scream as the sensation of his arm being sliced off him passed through him. Just like last time.
"Hey are you ok!" Naofumi yelled as his vision went white and he passed out.
Drugs. Drugs. Give me drugs! The scenes of his past filled his mind, all the torture and abuse he suffered at the hands of his oppressors. When he began to wake up his arm still felt numb and pain shot through it as he tried to move.
"Hey are you ok?"
He looked and saw Naofumi sitting next to the bed. "Uh yeah. How long have you been here?"
"Since they brought you here," Naofumi said. "I figured since we are both new here you wouldn't want to be alone."
"Thank you." Looking at Naofumi he could tell there was sincerity in his words yet he didn't fully trust him yet. That blow wasn't as strong as last time. But I'll play along to get some information.
"Malty and Flare are talking outside. I'll let them know you are awake," Naofumi said as he got up.
"Wait! Um I want to rest a bit more, turns out my powers use a lot of energy." He rubbed his head. "The pain she felt when she lost her arm is still tingling inside of me. I don't feel ready yet."
Naofumi's face widened in shock. "Wow That's horrible. Just rest here then."
"I'm sorry. It looks like I'll be a useless hero," he said pitifully.
"Hey don't say that," Naofumi said. "You gave that girl her arm back. I'm sure you can do great things with enough practice.
His gaze drifted up to Naofumi whose eyes were had genuine kindness in them. Few people have been kind to me in a long time. "Thank you." With that he fell onto his bed and pretended to sleep as Naofumi left the room. These other heroes better not get in my way. The other three seemed arrogant and pompous, Naofumi seemed alright but he had to be careful.
The door opened and two women entered. "To think there would be a fifth hero." Malty said in a tone that made his skin crawl. "Flare what do you think of this boy."
He froze his blood burning with anger as he pretended to be asleep. "This idiot can only heal one person and pass out?" Flare snorted any pretense of kindness gone.
You really are a piece of shit you pig.
"Don't worry we can use him as a source of healing for the other heroes and us of course," Malty said with a cold chuckle.
"How much longer till we take care of the shield hero?" Flare asked.
Malty walked around the room. "Give him a few more days to fully trust me. Then we'll get rid of him. As for this one." She pocked him in the back. "His ability is useful. We can lock him up if he doesn't cooperate and just use him as a tool."
Flare and Malty laughed. Looks like this world also has its pests. When the two women left the room he opened his eyes. I don't know Naofumi well but that woman is trouble. Something deep down was telling him he would be adding people to his revenge list very soon.
A smile spread across his face. No one will get in my way. He'll have his revenge here no matter what.
AN: This story will only cover season one of Shield Hero. Also I won't make Keyaru op right away and I won't right any 'healing' scenes but they'll be implied and will happen off screen.
